The woman you are calling Mbuya Nehanda was not the actual mbuya Nehanda the original person but mbuya Nehanda’s spirit medium hence the veneration title “MBUYA”. There is a world of difference between the two. The concept is like the the holy trinity in Christianity. To then suggest that Mbuya Nehanda’s spirit medium was a witch is like suggesting that Jesus Christ was an imposter. This is not only an insult to the Shona speaking people and their religion but also an embarrassing lack of depth of the author. They simply don’t know what they are talking about. It is insane to equate Grace Mugabe”s political ambition to the proven leadership of Mbuya Nhenda the spirit medium. Do you think the white man would have hanged the spirit medium if she was not an effective leader as you suggest?
