The President said this in a speech read on his behalf by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Sibusiso Moyo at a two-day Fraud and Corruption Conference, which opened in Harare yesterday.

“In parallel with such restitution must, of course, come retribution,” he said.

“Those found guilty of such corruption must be sanctioned where they can reflect upon the consequences of their greed and the shame and misfortune that that greed has brought upon themselves and their families.”

President Mnangagwa said Government has made progress in strengthening existing legislation and introducing extra laws to boost the Second Republic’s anti-corruption drive.

Some of the significant amendments that have been made to tighten up mandatory reporting and oversight requirements feature in a number of laws such as the Public Finance Management; Insolvency; Audit; Public Entities Corporate Governance; Companies; Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets; and Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Acts among others.

The Government is also working on a Whistleblower’s Act to encourage and protect those who see evil being done and wish to stop it.

President Mnangagwa said Government is in the final stages of appointing commissioners to the Anti-Corruption Commission and strengthening the Office of the Prosecutor-General.

Government, he said, is also building capacity in key oversight agencies such as the Auditor-General’s, Accountant-General’s and Attorney-General’s offices.

“We are seeking assistance from international partners to build investigative capacity within key components of our law-enforcement agencies, those tasked with investigating and building solid evidence-based cases against the corrupt; cases which will hold up in court and lead to conviction and, where the court so-decides, incarceration and the forfeiture of assets,” he said.

The President said the fight against corruption was not one that Government can wage alone urging the participants to play their role and work towards a Plan of Action, identifying roles and responsibilities for the various sectors represented at the conference.

“Government and yourselves collectively, can intensify our common battle against the evil of corruption,” he said “Together, we can and must make a difference.”

President Mnangagwa said from the onset, the Second Republic’s moto has been ‘Zero Tolerance to Corruption,’ but progress has been slow.

He attributed the slow progress to resistance the State is facing which has tended to impede headway and undermine Government’s good intentions.

“That, in turn, is a reflection of how deep the rot has reached, how the beneficiaries of that rot are able to manoeuvre and manipulate the system to their advantage, to keep ahead of law enforcement, weaken the justice system and, in so doing, to continue their nefarious activities, cheating the Government and the people of Zimbabwe,” he said.

“The slow pace of progress is also a reflection to some extent, of the level of sophistication and complexity which the corrupt amongst us have brought to bear, so as to mask their crimes, cover their tracks and confound our law enforcement officials.”

President Mnangagwa said corruption should be totally eradicated because it undermines Government efforts on economic reform and progress towards the national vision of a middle-income economy by 2030.

“Just as importantly, the scourge of fraud, the theft of public funds and the seeming impotence of our law-enforcement agencies and the justice system more broadly to effectively stop such practices serves to further erode public trust and confidence in Government and its institutions,” he said.

President Mnagagwa, however, hailed the conference saying its focus on fraud was not only welcome, but timely in that it coincided neatly with the enhanced efforts Government was making in the fight against corruption.

The participants were drawn from all stakeholders representing both public and private sectors, academia, civil society, the media, law enforcement agencies and the legal fraternity.

The objective of the conference is creating greater awareness and a deeper understanding of fraud in all its sinister forms and to appreciate the negative impact it has on the national economy.

The Economists Roundtable has implored businesses to stop pegging prices of goods and services against the value of the US dollar, since the costs they incur are in local currency.

The call follows the introduction of currency reforms in Statutory Instrument (SI) 142 of 2019.
Key among the reforms in SI 142 0f 2019 is the scrapping of the multi-currency system and coming in of the Zimbabwe dollar.

The Economists Roundtable told journalists on Wednesday pegging prices against the value, which has been prevalent since 2009 when the country adopted multiple currencies, was no longer necessary.

“Ever since we dollarised, everybody has been benchmarking against the US dollars,” said former University of Zimbabwe economics lecturer Professor Ashok Chakravarti.

“We are not the United States of America, we are Zimbabwe. We need to start thinking in terms of our local currency, our costs are local costs; we pay our workers in local money, all our costs of production are in local money.

“We need to start thinking in terms of costing, pricing, payments in local currency . . . we must start moving away from benchmarking against the US dollar to using normal prices as everybody does in Zambia.

“People don’t think in US dollars in Zambia or in Malawi or in South Africa, they think in local currency and they price everything in local currency. So it’s an issue of the mindset and psychology, it will take some time.”

A MAN from Bulawayo raped a 45-year-old woman until she fainted, prayed for her and raped her again when she regained consciousness.

Haston Phiri (37) of no fixed abode was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping the woman, whom he had promised a job.

The court heard how Phiri fervently pleaded with God to let the woman live when she stopped breathing while he was raping her.

When she regained strength, he raped her again.
Phiri pleaded not guilty to rape before Bulawayo Regional magistrate, Mr Joseph Mabeza, but was found guilty due to overwhelming evidence.
He was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

Prosecuting, Ms Caroline Matanga said on February 15 this year, the complainant, who had been told Phiri would help her get a job as a domestic worker at his relative’s home, was called by her neighbour at Nketa 9 suburb.

“The complainant wrote down her details and left them with her neighbour who is a vendor near where the complainant resides.
“On February 18 at around 2PM, Phiri called the complainant and asked to meet her so that he could take her to the employer,” said Ms Matanga.

She said the complainant did not meet him because she had not informed her husband that she would be going out.

“On the following day, they met and Phiri told her that a house maid was needed in Mzilikazi where his sister stays so they walked to Mzilikazi.

“On reaching Mzilikazi, Phiri told the complainant that his sister had called and asked to meet them in Sizinda suburb. They walked to Sizinda but when they reached a bushy area the complainant asked Phiri where they were going as she started feeling uncomfortable.

“Phiri grabbed the complainant, produced a knife and threatened to stab her if she made any noise. The complainant was force-marched to a maize field and ordered to undress but she refused. Phiri pushed her down, strangled her while placing the knife on her chest, and undressed her.

“He raped the complainant without protection,” said Ms Matanga.
She said during the second round, the complainant became unconscious and when she regained consciousness she saw Phiri fanning her and asking God not to let her die in his hands.
“When Phiri saw that she had regained consciousness, he raped her again and took her two phones and left her.”

The complainant reported the matter to the police leading to Phiri’s arrest.—State media

A 39-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo allegedly beat his wife to death after he saw her with another man.

Enock Sibanda of Luveve 5 suburb allegedly killed his wife who was only identified as Mrs Sibanda, on May 23 this year.

Sibanda was represented by Mr Tanaka Muganyi from Tanaka Law Chambers when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Mr Stephen Ndlovu. He pleaded not guilty to murder and was remanded out of custody on $300 bail to July 10 for trial.

Prosecuting, Ms Steward Madzore said on May 23, Sibanda allegedly saw his wife with a man that he suspected to be her lover and the man ran away.
“He ordered his wife to get into his car so that he takes her to her parents. The couple drove to their house and Sibanda slapped her several times before attacking her with a log,” she said.

Mrs Sibanda was ferried to Mpilo Hospital where she was admitted and died on the following day.State media

POLICE in Bulawayo have released pictures of a man who allegedly killed a hooker at a lodge and inscribed 666, a number biblically known as the mark of the beast and a star associated with the occult on her belly.

Police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspected satanic ritual killer.

Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said those with information should contact Seargent Ncube on 0773 629 244 or Chief Inspector Chibira on 0292 71568/77523.

Alternatively, he said they can use police suggestion boxes dotted around the country if they wished to remain anonymous. The victim, Patience Ndlovu, from Cowdray Park suburb was found dead at Silver Sands Lodge situated at number 13 Connaught Avenue between Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street and Jason Moyo Street on June 3.

Insp Ncube said Ndlovu’s body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for post mortem and it was discovered that she was strangled.

“Causes of death were concluded as to be asphyxia, strangulation and homicide,” said Insp Ncube.State media

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has it from authoritative sources that reports circulating in certain sections of the social media purporting that police are authorised to stop and search people for foreign currency are untrue and should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve.

“The legal tender shall be the Zimbabwe Dollar in both cash and electronic format.

“Any freely convertible foreign currencies remain acceptable in Zimbabwe as follows:

1. Credit Cards are readily acceptable everywhere in Zimbabwe where the relevant arrangements have been made with the International Credit Card Companies such as VISA, MASTERCARD and others issued by different banks in the countries of origin of the travellers. Visitors are required to make the necessary arrangements with their banks before embarking on travel and when in the destination they need to look out for the logos of their respective credit cards. Please note that terms and conditions of the respective credit cards will apply and transactions are subject to the limits given by the banks. Service provider do have international credit card enable Point-of-Sale (POS) Machines.
2. Visitors may also withdraw local cash from international credit card enabled Automated Teller Machines (ATM’s) of the different banks. These will be clearly marked international and will have the logos of the accepted credit card companies.
3. Foreign cash may be exchanged at the bank, bureau-de-change or any other authorised foreign currency dealers at the prevailing bank rates. Visitors may then use the so acquired local currency to transact. Visitors are however encouraged to use plastic money and only exchange amounts of money in cash that they anticipate to use. However, visitors may convert their money back to their foreign currency subject to prevailing terms and conditions. This may include proof in the prescribed format that one changed money upon their arrival.
4. Online payments and telegraphic transfers remain acceptable forms of payment in Zimbabwe
5. Visa fees where applicable are payable in foreign currencyand may be paid in cash at any port of entry. The Government of Zimbabwe has an e-visa system and intending travellers may apply and pay for their visas online.
6. Tipping is not a commercial transaction and hence visitors are at liberty to tip the way they want. It becomes incumbent upon the recipient to ensure adherence to the foreign exchange regulations.

A Karoi woman is on the run after allegedly stabbing two other women, her lover’s wife and her friend, at Dunga Shopping Centre in Chief Kazangarare’s area of Hurungwe District.

Miriam Gutsa (26) of Masokote Village stabbed Winnet Dambakurima and her friend Chipo Mukwesha, both aged 34, from the same village as they were passing by the shopping centre.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident and said police were appealing to anyone with information on Gatsi’s whereabouts to assist.

“We are appealing to anyone who might have information on where Gatsi is to assist so that the law may take its course, he said. People should also bear in mind that violence does not solve anything. People should rather engage in peaceful dialogue.”

Insp Mabgweazara said Gatsi was at the shopping centre when she saw Dambakurima, who was in the company of Mukwesha, and confronted her asking why she was spreading rumours about an affair with her husband.

A misunderstanding ensued and Gatsi allegedly stabbed Dambakurima on the left side of her chest injuring her ribs. Mukwesha reportedly tried to intervene and was also stabbed on her left ear and at the back of her head.State media

A Chivi Rural District Council police officer has been jailed 30 days after attacking and injuring an errant motorist with a spike during a fistfight. Webster Jowanisi (39) was alternatively slapped with a $100 fine by Chivi resident magistrate Ms Perseverance Mukumba last week.

Jowanisi was convicted of assault on his own plea of guilty after admitting to hitting local motorist, Takemore Chikunda, during a scuffle at Ngundu Business Centre.

Chikunda sustained serious injuries on the palm and finger as a result of the attack.

Prosecutor Mr Andrew Ndaramira told the court that sometime last month, Chikunda, who was driving a Quantum vehicle stopped at Ngundu Business Centre to buy water melons from vendors by the roadside.

Jowanisi, who was part of a team of council police details approached Chikunda and advised him that he had been arrested for stopping at an un-designated point.

Tempers flared between Jowanisi and Chikunda as they started exchanging harsh words.

A fist fight then ensued between the pair, resulting in Jowanisi hitting Chikunda with a spike.

A report was made to police, leading to Jowanisi’s arrest and a medical report confirming Chikunda’s injuries was used in court as an exhibit.State media

Malbelreign Girls High School have alleged that they are being sexually abused by male teachers.

The students marched to the Malbereign Police Station with placards demanding the immediate removal of the school head Bertha Kusena, whom they blamed for the poor learning and living conditions at the school.

The students opened up on several cases of sexual harassment by male teachers.

School Headgirl Miriam Kusvayi said:
”The head doesn’t communicate with us and if we make a report she doesn’t give us feedback.

We complained about poor services being offered long back but she acts like everything is fine.

She is not free to us, we also want motherly talk from her but she doesn’t walk around the school just to see hw we are progressing with the school work.”

The school head was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.

As ZEFF, we will not standby whilst our country continues to be drowned in sorrow by a morally bankrupt and economically dysfunctional government imposed on our people by Zanu PF. We strongly believe that Zimbabwe, like every country, should have its own currency which enables its citizens to recognise their dreams, allows any decent government to provide services to the masses and allow the economy to strive on the basis of a free market economy with measured government intervention only when appropriate.

As ZEFF, we note that the current economic status in the country is not a stand-alone event, but a trail and collection of political and economic blunders perpetrated by the ruling party over the past 40 years.

The currency changes as happened on the 24th of June 2019 are therefore nothing but once again, a surprise assault on the helpless and poor Zimbabweans. As ZEFF, we believe the “writing is on the wall” once again, as it was over the numerous fiscal and monetary policy shifts and decisions adopted by this government that have struck once again.

ZEFF is on record that we support a mono-currency regime, a considered and balanced command/market economy through a Government mandate to create a sustainable economic environment that will enable a thriving and inclusive economy for a developmental state.

We however completely differ with the ambush mechanics that the ruling party has employed since 1997 through this government. Such destructive, unplanned and un-co-ordinated tactics have not only engraved a stinking tendency of a government whose policy is determined by an overnight signature but further, over a decade, wiped out the economic value of our currency from the pockets of our people;
We believe such a currency adoption strategy is futile and geared towards tracking a straight-line back to the 2007/8 economic status which was characterised by empty shelves in shops, unprecedented inflation levels, shrinking GDP levels, unsteady fiscal and monetary policy, embedded corruption in government, and a hungry and unemployed population.

Over a decade, our people have endured shock decisions and energy depleting fiscal and monetary policy decisions devoid of economic logic. Through-out this disaster, those that have benefited continue to trash the little that’s left of every country’s pride, its currency. We remind this government and its looters of its previous tactics that got us to where we are today;

In the hands of this government of Zanu PF, the uncontrolled printing of the currency, as characterised by the 1997 pay-out of ZW$4.2bn (USD300m) to the War Veterans, which wiped out 72% of the value of the Zimbabwean Dollar in the weeks that followed will once again, do the trick. This government couldn’t print the USD/Rand as it can with its own unbacked Bond/RTGS. They have grabbed the printing machine firmly in their hands once again;
The un-characteristic closure and shut down of forex accounts for companies in 2002, introduction of Managed Foreign Exchange Auctions System (“MFEAS”) in 2004, the introduction of the Tradable Foreign Currency Balances System (“TFCBS”) 2006 after the failure of the MFEAS, in the process replacing the dual exchange rate system with the Interbank rate which collapsed drastically. Our people will not be hoodwinked once again, into ploughing their hard-earned savings into look-alike pretend savings called the FCAs, only for this government to wake up one day and forcibly convert these to bonds/RTGS at forced rates once again;
The forced devaluation of the currency on more than 2 prior occasions (in 2000 and 2007) without achieving any meaningful reward to the masses. At each of these devaluations, the black-market exchange rate demanded 10 times further devaluation. We do not forget that in late February 2019 (only 4 months ago), the Bond note/RTGS was pegged at around an entry level of 2.51against the current 12.1 exchange rate to the USD (an average devaluation of 382% over the period. This dwarfs the two occasions above;
We do not forget that Zimbabwe created the first mass of Quadrillionaires in Africa and arguably in the world, who could not afford to buy a packet of condoms in the shops. How much more disgrace can this government dish out to our people;
The introduction of the Bond notes against the wishes of the people, and the supplementary introduction of the RTGS became a catalyst to a worsening Foreign currency crisis. This saw the expansion of mismatch between Money Supply and the supply of forex in the market. This was yet another failed attempt to control a politically induced foreign currency panic solution to an endemic political and leadership vacuum problem.

These induced changes, coupled with a number of overnight pronouncements over the past decade have literally destroyed our economy and in the process, robbed our citizens of a generation of state-driven poverty. We believe Winston Churchill had a reason to suggest that, “If you destroy a free market, you create a black market. If you make 10 000 regulations, you destroy all respect for the law”. This is yet another proof that our government has no solution for the economic problems it created. This is a pure example of Policy uncertainty, a haphazard approach to political economics and a sure way to punch in the final nail to the coffin of all Zimbabweans. In the next few weeks, Zimbabweans should expect to witness unprecedented changes to their lives, socially and economically;

The disappearance of commodities off the shelves of stores, resulting in fewer goods being chased by massive quantities of printed currency;
Inflationary pressures in the regions previously experienced at the height of Zimbabwe’s failed economy;
Consumption and corruption driven monetary supply through the printing machine without any foreign currency or gold backing to give value to the currency;
Diversion of the economic failures through orchestrated brutalisation of the masses who chose to voice against such;
Closure of factories, retail shops against the backdrop of forced price settings by a desperate state;
Long queues for basic commodities such as fuel, bread, cooking oil, meet, maize;
Devaluation of salaries, pensions and purchasing power in general;
Poor liquidity positions for companies which will effectively force closure of industries;
Potentially, a heavy-handed approach by the security cluster in con confisticating foreign currency from the black market.

ZEFF believes that even the most ill-equipped, ill-disciplined government worth the calibre of Zanu PF would have respected the suffering masses of Zimbabwe in its history of chronic failures and merely took its population into confidence before executing yet another ambush to their hard-earned savings. Whilst the intentions are noble and respected, the manner, behaviour and complete lack of consideration of the people, the markets, the business community and the few working-class citizens are left completely exposed. This government needs to understand that, no amount of regulations will make “the value of a Donkey and a Cow equal overnight”. ZEFF believes a responsible and patriotic government would have, at the least;
Taken prudent steps to build Trust and acceptability of such a currency through a transparent and trusted process consultation process with various stakeholders such as Banks, Civic society, citizens, economic agents etc;
Provided confidence to the international community to obtain goodwill and display the seriousness of government to get this right;
Deliberate paraded of the currency fundamentals to the masses to build buy-in and confidence and avoid minimise disruptions in the financial sector through these massive economic shocks that everyone will experience;
De-link the new currency from the dirty bonds and RTGS and provide room for a clean break from the previous occurrences that Zimbabweans still;
Create a conducive environment in the market to support a sustainable economy through getting rid of corrupt officials at the Reserve Bank, clarification of fiscal policy certainty and equal implementation of the rule of law against corruption in the country;
Pronounce on the turn-around and support strategy to go alongside the implementation and adoption of local and neighbouring Southern African Development Countries as backers of guarantors of such a commitment;
Lastly and certainly not least, at least give it a name. Even the still-born are afforded the human dignity of identity to enable their souls to rest in peace. Even our dear President has no idea whether to call this new craze RTG, Bond, RTGS or Zim Dollar.

CAUSES

It’s not clear what causes prostate cancer.

Doctors know that prostate cancer begins when some cells in your prostate become abnormal. Mutations in the abnormal cells’ DNA cause the cells to grow and divide more rapidly than normal cells do. The abnormal cells continue living, when other cells would die. The accumulating abnormal cells form a tumor that can grow to invade nearby tissue. Some abnormal cells can break off and spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body.

Factors that can increase your risk of prostate cancer include:

Older age. Your risk of prostate cancer increases as you age.Being black. Black men have a greater risk of prostate cancer than do men of other races. President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed High Court judges Charles Hungwe and Nicholas Mathonsi to the Supreme Court after the recent public interviews.

The two participated in recent public interviews along with Justices Felicia Chatukuta, Samuel Kudya, and Elfas Chitakunye.

Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi confirmed the appointment of the two judges to the superior court.

“The President has settled for the two, Justices Hungwe and Mathonsi. They will be sworn in soon as Supreme Court judges,” Ziyambi said.

Although attempts to get a comment from Judicial Service Commission (JSC) secretary Walter Chikwanha were fruitless, sources said Justice Mathonsi topped the list followed by Hungwe and Kudya. The JSC had declared two vacant positions at the Supreme Court and five High Court judges applied for the posts.Newsday

Farai Dziva|Opposition party Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters has described as futile and suicidal the decision by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to abandon the Multi-currency regime.

As ZEFF, we will not standby whilst our country continues to be drowned in sorrow by a morally bankrupt and economically dysfunctional government imposed on our people by Zanu PF. We strongly believe that Zimbabwe, like every country, should have its own currency which enables its citizens to recognise their dreams, allows any decent government to provide services to the masses and allow the economy to strive on the basis of a free market economy with measured government intervention only when appropriate.

As ZEFF, we note that the current economic status in the country is not a stand-alone event, but a trail and collection of political and economic blunders perpetrated by the ruling party over the past 40 years.

The currency changes as happened on the 24th of June 2019 are therefore nothing but once again, a surprise assault on the helpless and poor Zimbabweans. As ZEFF, we believe the “writing is on the wall” once again, as it was over the numerous fiscal and monetary policy shifts and decisions adopted by this government that have struck once again.
ZEFF is on record that we support a mono-currency regime, a considered and balanced command/market economy through a Government mandate to create a sustainable economic environment that will enable a thriving and inclusive economy for a developmental state. We however completely differ with the ambush mechanics that the ruling party has employed since 1997 through this government. Such destructive, unplanned and un-co-ordinated tactics have not only engraved a stinking tendency of a government whose policy is determined by an overnight signature but further, over a decade, wiped out the economic value of our currency from the pockets of our people;
We believe such a currency adoption strategy is futile and geared towards tracking a straight-line back to the 2007/8 economic status which was characterised by empty shelves in shops, unprecedented inflation levels, shrinking GDP levels, unsteady fiscal and monetary policy, embedded corruption in government, and a hungry and unemployed population. Over a decade, our people have endured shock decisions and energy depleting fiscal and monetary policy decisions devoid of economic logic. Through-out this disaster, those that have benefited continue to trash the little that’s left of every country’s pride, its currency. We remind this government and its looters of its previous tactics that got us to where we are today;

In the hands of this government of Zanu PF, the uncontrolled printing of the currency, as characterised by the 1997 pay-out of ZW$4.2bn (USD300m) to the War Veterans, which wiped out 72% of the value of the Zimbabwean Dollar in the weeks that followed will once again, do the trick. This government couldn’t print the USD/Rand as it can with its own unbacked Bond/RTGS. They have grabbed the printing machine firmly in their hands once again;
The un-characteristic closure and shut down of forex accounts for companies in 2002, introduction of Managed Foreign Exchange Auctions System (“MFEAS”) in 2004, the introduction of the Tradable Foreign Currency Balances System (“TFCBS”) 2006 after the failure of the MFEAS, in the process replacing the dual exchange rate system with the Interbank rate which collapsed drastically. Our people will not be hoodwinked once again, into ploughing their hard-earned savings into look-alike pretend savings called the FCAs, only for this government to wake up one day and forcibly convert these to bonds/RTGS at forced rates once again;
The forced devaluation of the currency on more than 2 prior occasions (in 2000 and 2007) without achieving any meaningful reward to the masses. At each of these devaluations, the black-market exchange rate demanded 10 times further devaluation. We do not forget that in late February 2019 (only 4 months ago), the Bond note/RTGS was pegged at around an entry level of 2.51against the current 12.1 exchange rate to the USD (an average devaluation of 382% over the period. This dwarfs the two occasions above;
We do not forget that Zimbabwe created the first mass of Quadrillionaires in Africa and arguably in the world, who could not afford to buy a packet of condoms in the shops. How much more disgrace can this government dish out to our people;
The introduction of the Bond notes against the wishes of the people, and the supplementary introduction of the RTGS became a catalyst to a worsening Foreign currency crisis. This saw the expansion of mismatch between Money Supply and the supply of forex in the market. This was yet another failed attempt to control a politically induced foreign currency panic solution to an endemic political and leadership vacuum problem.

These induced changes, coupled with a number of overnight pronouncements over the past decade have literally destroyed our economy and in the process, robbed our citizens of a generation of state-driven poverty. We believe Winston Churchill had a reason to suggest that, “If you destroy a free market, you create a black market. If you make 10 000 regulations, you destroy all respect for the law”. This is yet another proof that our government has no solution for the economic problems it created. This is a pure example of Policy uncertainty, a haphazard approach to political economics and a sure way to punch in the final nail to the coffin of all Zimbabweans. In the next few weeks, Zimbabweans should expect to witness unprecedented changes to their lives, socially and economically;

The disappearance of commodities off the shelves of stores, resulting in fewer goods being chased by massive quantities of printed currency;
Inflationary pressures in the regions previously experienced at the height of Zimbabwe’s failed economy;
Consumption and corruption driven monetary supply through the printing machine without any foreign currency or gold backing to give value to the currency;
Diversion of the economic failures through orchestrated brutalisation of the masses who chose to voice against such;
Closure of factories, retail shops against the backdrop of forced price settings by a desperate state;
Long queues for basic commodities such as fuel, bread, cooking oil, meet, maize;
Devaluation of salaries, pensions and purchasing power in general;
Poor liquidity positions for companies which will effectively force closure of industries;
Potentially, a heavy-handed approach by the security cluster in con confisticating foreign currency from the black market.

ZEFF believes that even the most ill-equipped, ill-disciplined government worth the calibre of Zanu PF would have respected the suffering masses of Zimbabwe in its history of chronic failures and merely took its population into confidence before executing yet another ambush to their hard-earned savings. Whilst the intentions are noble and respected, the manner, behaviour and complete lack of consideration of the people, the markets, the business community and the few working-class citizens are left completely exposed.

This government needs to understand that, no amount of regulations will make “the value of a Donkey and a Cow equal overnight”. ZEFF believes a responsible and patriotic government would have, at the least;
Taken prudent steps to build Trust and acceptability of such a currency through a transparent and trusted process consultation process with various stakeholders such as Banks, Civic society, citizens, economic agents etc;
Provided confidence to the international community to obtain goodwill and display the seriousness of government to get this right;
Deliberate paraded of the currency fundamentals to the masses to build buy-in and confidence and avoid minimise disruptions in the financial sector through these massive economic shocks that everyone will experience;

De-link the new currency from the dirty bonds and RTGS and provide room for a clean break from the previous occurrences that Zimbabweans still;
Create a conducive environment in the market to support a sustainable economy through getting rid of corrupt officials at the Reserve Bank, clarification of fiscal policy certainty and equal implementation of the rule of law against corruption in the country;

Pronounce on the turn-around and support strategy to go alongside the implementation and adoption of local and neighbouring Southern African Development Countries as backers of guarantors of such a commitment;
Lastly and certainly not least, at least give it a name. Even the still-born are afforded the human dignity of identity to enable their souls to rest in peace. Even our dear President has no idea whether to call this new craze RTG, Bond, RTGS or Zim Dollar.
