As the race to replace President Robert Mugabe hots up, ZANU PF’s Science and Education Secretary Professor Jonathan Moyo has flung another shot at Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa describing him as a small crocodile which even a child can single-handedly lift.
Writing on his portal for the last week, Moyo burst out what Zimbabweans interpret as a direct inference on Mnangagwa tipped to succeed President Robert Mugabe.
The Zim community generally groups Mnangagwa, a lawyer by profession, among legal icons close to Presidential ascension: the late Chimurenga leader Herbert Chitepo, Nelson Chamisa, Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube.
Moyo inferred that lawyers are not loyal and have a propensity to rebel against their leaders. “What is it with lawyers & loyalty? The examples of Ncube, Biti, now Chamisa against Tsvangirai are instructive,” he said.
Coincidentally Prof Moyo himself is also studying law.
Meanwhile, Moyo also posted the picture of a school going child body-in-water single handedly lifting a crocodile.
It was followed by the two letter statement : “No Comment.”

One contributor in the ZimEye newsroom on Saturday wrote of Moyo’s statement saying the ZANU PF spin doctor is “obviously insinuating that lawyers are not loyal…
“and that Mnangagwa isn’t loyal to Bob.
“But perhaps it’s not too untrue that lawyers aren’t blindly loyal. I don’t believe loyalty means absolute and blind loyalty.People should be loyal to a good cause rather than to an individual.If a leader is advancing the common good, then it makes sense to be loyal to them.It should never be loyalty for its sake or loyalty to history. Loyalty should not be confused with not being free to disagree or criticise.”
