Grace Summoned by Angry War Vets

By Terrence Mawawa, Gutu | First Lady Grace Mugabe has been summoned into line by angry war veterans.

The disquieted ex soldiers here have described Grace as a traitor who has betrayed the gains of the liberation struggle.
The war veterans from Gutu North Constituency met at Chitsa Business Centre, ward 12 on Sunday and resolved to demand an explanation from president Robert Mugabe over his wife’s persistent attacks on former freedom fighters.
They also accused Grace of undermining the role played by the former freedom fighters during and after the liberation struggle.
Speaking after the crisis meeting, Themba Ndisavaka of Ndisavaka village, who identified himself as a coordinator, said another meeting would be held early January so that a delegation would meet Mugabe over Grace’s attacks on war vets.
“We are not happy with the way our leaders are belittling the former freedom fighters. Even the First Lady has been savaging the freedom fighters and I think she must be advised on the proper way to address war veterans.
“Such utterances come from traitors who are determined to reverse the gains of the liberation struggle. It is shocking to hear such arrogant words from our leaders.
“We are therefore going to meet the president so that we can voice our concerns,”said Ndisavaka .
At the meeting the war veterans concurred Mrs Mugabe had gone too far in a bid to please her supporters .
Grace and her husband have been on a warpath against the former freedom fighters with Mugabe himself savaging the war veterans.
According to party insiders Mrs Mugabe personally sacked war veterans minister Christopher Mutsvangwa fearing an uprise against her ascendancy .Grace and her ageing husband who are currently out of the country for Mugabe ‘s annual leave are likely to face protests from the former freedom fighters who also blamed Mrs Mugabe for attempting to protect her personal interests at the expense the entire nation.

What insensitivity from one who claimed to be fighting for her liberation. He could have been our own Nelson Mandela.

  3. I no longer have any respect for war vets. Grace is right in putting you in your place. You have all along given us the impression that you went to war to personalise Zimbabwe. You think it’s yours and some of us should not have a say in the way it’s run. Imbwa dzevanhu. Maiuraya hama dzedu nguva yehondo just because they were receiving Rhodesia government pension. You killed innocent villagers for taking their cattle to dip tanks. You did not win the war but Smith surrendered the country to avert the barbaric way you were killing innocent villagers, your very own people. You killed a black priest in front of us, very young school children then, just because he had been to America. I don’t recall anything civilised you ever did even to this day. You raped our sisters and the loss of traditional morals on sex and marriage disappeared because of you. Vazhinji venyu were dogs. For 35 years you have been Mugabe’s condoms, being used to suppress the wishes of the majority. The only war vet I have great respect for is the late Wilfred Mhanda (Dzinashe Machingura) What a great guy! Principled man. Hated by Mugabe.

  5. Mr MP give answers to wasted young lives through thuggery senseless violence in villages of Tsholotsho. Remember these people gave you their precious votes that not only benefit you but the entire Zanu-Pf propaganda system. Tsholotsho is the epicenter of Zimbabwe’s political mediocrity and ruling party factionalism. The Tsholotsho youth violence must be the subject of embarrassment and shame to their legislative representative in parliament. Mr Jonathan is only proactive to preach propaganda and collect cheap votes from people of Tsholotsho together with his counterpart MP of the parallel constituency. When are the jobs coming to Tsholotsho so that our youth stop living thuggery lives. When is vocational institutes coming to Thsolotsho so that our youth can train in skills and empowerment for self sustainability. If I was a Tsholotsho MP I will read this story and be ashamed because that is a significant dominant narrative that somehow there is a failure by political leadership. Jonathan Moyo should stop meddling and putting his nose in every other ministerial business except his own constituency problems. That is another provoaction to call for total devolution so that local authorities can solve local problems. The last thing is that villagers should desist from unnecessary ignorance of calling at a police station with a severely injured man instead seeking medical help as a first concern. The police and hospital are two different functions. Happy New Year Tsholotsho!

  10. I agree with Basa. Talking to Bob will not do anything. The mood of the nation has remained neutral thats why Mugabe thanked his cronies to managing to silence people in the face of challenges. Wake up Zimbas, evil prevails when good men say nothing. Noone will come and help you because SA and the neighbouring countries are benefiting economically from our chaos. If we can’t produce we buy from SA, if we cant keep our farmers and teachers and nurses, Botswana and Zambia are more than happy to have them. Zimbabweans, we need to stop being docile and liberate ourselves.

The economic meltdown means Mugabe can no longer afford to favour the war vets and so they are complaining and talk of reversing the gains of the liberation struggle. What gains?

    You say you want a meeting with him. What if he turns down your request?.
    Mugabe needs confrontation. Go where he is and tell him in his face. The only person who knew what language Mugabe understands was Hunzvi.

    He needs cinfrontation not these silly meetings. He simply does not honour them and does not care.
