Mujuru Hit By More Desertions
10 February 2017

Zim People First party leader Joice Mujuru has been hit by more desertions.
Several officials have in the last 30 hours handed in their resignations following expulsion of seven founding cadres.
In addition to Sylvester Nguni and Ray Kaukonde several youths yesterday held a press conference at the party headquarters in Highlands where they announced their decision to quit. Deputy national youth secretary Mr Prosper Gavanga said Mujuru lacked principles and wisdom.
The desertions began with Mr Sylvester Nguni informing ZimEye.com early yesterday morning and ended with another founder, the businessman, Ray Kaukonde announcing he was also leaving. Below was Kaukonde’s letter written in a shrewd mix of Shona and English:
Tongwai neZANU PF in peace. These leaving the party will soon fall back in ZanuPf. These are chances or fence seater who have seen that Zimpf won’t stand a chance against ZANU PF in general elections saka vasvova. I advise ZANU PF not to take these traitors back. None of them has the nation at heart.
This is good for mai I hope she won’t run. We will now be free of the founding fathers.
They failed to make a difference in their respective constituencies during their times in ZANU and I don’t think they ever will. They subscribed to ZANU PF phylosophy for over 3 decades without realizing that people were under oppression. On its own its own this is aa cause for concern and thier genuineness as oppsotion members has always been under question. They looted and benefited and now they want that opportunity again to bleed this country ah no, its better to take jus a man from the streets into office than to entrust these renagades again with our country. we will be going round in circles.
Well I see this as a blessing, who will ever trust people like Dydmus honestly
Anyone who pretends that all the leaders in this mess on both sides of the division do not some serious leadership problems is being dishonest and/or blind. Joice Mujuru has known the likes of Mutasa and Gumbo for donkey years and after what happened to her with Mugabe where she clearly misjudged the character of the tyrant for donkey years one would expect her to be more careful. So she has once again blundered! Well that speaks volume of her ability as judge of character. The same can be said about Mutasa and the others.
ZimPF leaders are corrupt and incompetent and the messy fall out in the party serves only to confirm this.
Those who had cheered and applauded the entry of ZimPF as serious opposition members are themselves now smarting from their folly. As for ZimPF being a game-changer as a coalition partner that must now be discounted.
The formation of a grand coalition was never going to address any problems of vote rigging by Zanu PF although the proponents of coalition wanted us to believe it was the panacea. Now that the grand coalition is as good as dead, these people will now allow the nation to talk about implementing the democratic reforms with the urgency and seriousness the matter demands.
Whatever happens to ZimPF next what is certain is the grand coalition of the oppositions parties is now unlikely and there really is no excuse now for taking part in the next elections without implementing the democratic reforms first. None!
