  1. I am not sure about that but I still remember the mayor complaining that most of the councillors are not qualified at all and hardly understand how to tackle their job. You can’t blame the government for that.

  2. l agree with you but to some extent they are being sabotaged because of political differences.

  3. They also have to look for ways to generate the cash and manage the Little they have wisely, like any other Managers.

  4. THE SAME GOES, WE HAVE MPS TO STAND FOR US AND REQUEST FUNDS FROM GOVT SO AS TO HAVE FEASIBLE ENVIRONMENT. THEY PLAN, PUT MEASURES AND IF THERE IS NO CASH , IMPLEMENTING IS DIFFICULT.

  5. Milton Moyo

Many thanks, for your professional assesment of the issues under discussion and a sober response/comment

  6. Even the housewife can be given some money but it cannot sustain the house hold. the responsible authority here is the government period.

  7. FYI : ‘[email protected]’ and ‘the facts’ is the same commentor so was correcting myself, just an error on my part on typing so gave you the wrong impression: look at the times between those two comments.

Bond notes in the hands of HCC and Forex are two different issues my brother/sister.

Thanks for your comments thought but its the insulting that does not keep debates mature. I forgive you.

I put my comments to rest because we are going nowhere!

  8. The City has a Budget from the state but also has its own sources of earnings. It is expected to survive on this.

  9. Firstly, i dont hear Pastor Evan mention anything to do with MDC, of Zanupf, So where you get this “Headline” i am clueless. Zimeye, please stop inciting rubbish. He mentions changing the entire Council, bot Zanupf and MDC. I am with Evan on this. DONT vote in the same bafoons for Harare City council. This situation is 100% a major health risk. If you wish your kids to get weird and dreadful illnesses then vote them back in. The point he is making is very valid, and that point is, How the hell can Council get away with pumping Sewage into your Homes? Think again Zimeye, because here you have totally misconstrued what has been said! Shame on you Zimeye!!!!!!

  10. Pastor Mawarire is right; the council top management and councilors have failed dismally; they should just quit. If they have no power to run the affairs of the city so what are they doing in counci. Why should they be there watching the city crumble if they are not part and parcel of the corruption going on. The mayor and his councilors should have resigned if they are genuine that they could not do anything because the minister was bullying them. What’s the point of staying in a system that’s not working and you have no solution to remedy it. Why would you risk taking the blame of the demise of our once beautiful city if you are not complicity. They the councilors and top management should take the blame for destroying our city. They are incompetent and corrupt as they come. I will not bend back wards under pressure to go along what I don’t believe in; is the MDC councilors do not agree with what is going on in counci, what are they still doing in there if they can’t make any difference. It’s worse to live in cities these days than rural areas. We are setting on time bombs of disease outbreaks in the cities because of mismanagement and corruption by all involved.

  11. Its like saying: Ask a housewife to manage when you the working husband spend all your salary ku small house or on friday nights

  12. You do not know how it functions. Ist better to shut up than fart. Of Course the City council manages operations.

  13. I think Pastor E did not consider the funding factor, were the councillors going to fund from their own pockets? This was sabotage by ZANU PF to de campaign MDC-T. They used all the money to their benefit and only wanted the people to blame the councillors and then vote ZANU PF. Service delivery was zero because there was no funding. This is a political issue and not being incompetent, in my view of-course.

  14. Do you know how the governance of how it all works. It sometimes helps to understand that the engine runs the wheels of a car not the other way round ( but only during push start circumstances) Did you listen to Mayor Manyenyene explanation’s on the Ministry of LG involvement, 7 chemicals required for HRE which are mostly exported vs 2 for other Cities/Towns, Manyame downstream vs a possible Kunzvi Dam usage? Mayor Manyenyene is not Executive, i.e. he doesn’t have the power that you think he has. If we vote you in now and if you face same you think you can deliver? I used to be emotianal before BUT have learnt that understanding the background and issues is vital before shouting on roof top. As for Pastor Mawarire I am sorry I expect him to know better.

  15. You can say that again ,he should join the political jungle like his erstwhile friends who removed the army uniform and went straight to where they belonged .
And surprising enough ,don’t people know how devolution has been resisted by government ,and can they tell us the ‘wanders’ that are being done by ZANU run councils.

  16. This Moody lady us talking nonsense! We need clean water and that water is supplied by HCC and not the minister. We voted into council weak people who cannot stand their ground and decide to feed us with sewage. GWERU, KWEKWE,BYO, MUTARE don’t have these problems but are under the same ministry. This is certainly incompetence by our representatives, let’s remove them.

  17. She has established herself as a quick access first lady. That question is too late as she has already done prisons and hospitals which she had no business meddling in. So we can take advantage and involve her in
    Water supply
    City cleanliness
    Safety on our roads
    School lunch for kids
    Violence in the home
    Plight of the disabled

    Etc Etc

All welfare issues that need urgent attention we should throw her in at the deep end just for quick access to solutions.

  18. Enthuse people to gather regularly as residents and protest till something is done. As soon as the president involves himself in the discussion, something will be done. For example as the news outlets to each ring the president’s wife to ask if she will visit the water treatment companies to ask them what they are doing. A week later the whole thing will be in the forefront of discussion and if news outlets ring her again a month later for her to do a follow up, ….. etc.

Quicker and cheaper than donations which will be looted. Harare has money to deal with the issue.

  19. This is nonsense, criticism misdirected, ask yourself why the RBZ governor has just intervened, releasing funds only now that were meant to deliver these services long back just because it was MDC run council……read between the lines and wake up people……Zanupf is rotten and cruel to the core !

  20. If everyone donates a dollar the council official on charge of the donations will start the year with a good bank balance. Do not fool yourself. Zim is not yet corruption free.

  21. Blame both the government and the City Council. However for Mr Mawarire i think he talks too much in order to seek relevance. I thought he is a preacher, why can he not concentrate on preaching the gospel. The water issue is for all stakeholders you and me included. If every Harare resident can donate some funds, it can go a long way in addressing the issue. remember the government itself, the councils etc are operating under harsh environment because of the melt down of the economy which was man made. Chemicals to treat water are expensive, vehicles are expensive to maintain, water pipes etc, what is needed is competent staff, corrupt free environment etc. This is no time for opinions and politics. It should not be a blame game. We all know that to be where we are it was the mismanagement of the economy.

  22. Tell them with a straight face Mr Mawarire ,How much does it cost to replace the cracked water pipe at coner Harare st and Samora Machael. This council is rotten to the core honestly. They are busy chasing vendors (people who are trying to get some money to feed and send their children to school). How many free toilets are open in Harare today as we speak right now infact since coming into power they have closed almost half of all free toilets.
One needs to have 50c to use a toilet. And over2 000 citizens use each paid toilet per day i.e over $1000 per unit per day, can they make a break down of the cost of maintaining one unit per day ( including detergents and man and women manning the unit), I doubt if it can be anything above $300. Use the profit you get from these projects wisely and avail better sanitation to those who cannot afford. Simple.
