The country’ s largest opposition party, MDC has nullified the primary elections that were held last Saturday, citing gross irregularities.
A senior party official who spoke to ZimEye. com yesterday said those who presided over the elections forgot to abide by the regulations stipulated in the party template.
The official said MDC Masvingo Provincial Chairperson James Gumbi announced the election results were null and void because of gross irregularities.
“The party template is clear on how elections should be held.
All primary elections are supervised by members of the National Executive, not district executive members,” said the official.
A new date for the primaries will be announced soon.
