POLICE PROCEEDINGS into convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivayo’s dodgy tenders have closed in on the man, as ZimEye.com reveals.

This was detailed today as the Zimbabwe Power Company secretary, Mrs Nora Tsomondo told the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy.

It was revealed that ZPC has for a long time known that Chivayo does not qualify for any tender award, and also that he is disqualified to hold a company directorship. She said the police were now through with gathering evidence aimed at arresting Mr Chivayo.

Zimbabwe’s Companies Act as ZimEye.com reveals, dictates that a person who obtains a company directorship knowing that they are a convict of fraud and have been imprisoned for more than  6 months, is liable for a 2 year jail term. The Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (formerly State Procurement Board) told the committee that the award of the solar power tender project to Mr Chivhayo was unlawful. Lawyers pulled out evidence that Chivayo has a 5 year jail term on his head for which he served an effective 3 years while inside the Chikurubi Maximum prison.

Earlier today ZimEye broadcast the hearings – ALSO SEE below the Companies Act extract showing how Chivayo faces a 10 year jail term:
