Zimbabwean darts champion David Nyemba is in Cape Town representing Zimbabwe for the first time in the prestigious Last Man Standing African Darts Challenge kicking off in the city om Friday.
The veteran Nyemba who has won all local darts accolades in the country is aiming at his first African glory before taking an attempt at the world championships.
The tournament which will see the winner walk away with R30 000 is the premier individuals tournament in the continent and every darts player dreams of clinching the title.
The tournament has through the years been dominated by South Africa darts players.
Nyemba who captains the senior Zimbabwe men’s team has accounted for most of the South African players during the qualifying rounds and is set to be one of the top contenders at the tournament.
Speaking to ZimEye.com in an interview, National Darts Association of Zimbabwe Secretary General Stephen Mwarindira said that they were confident that Nyemba will carry the country’s flag high in the challenge.
“David, participated in the initial group stages from November 17 to November 18, 2017 in Joburg and qualified in the last 64 where he is amiming to come up the “Last Man Standing” at the tournament and we are confident he will make it,” said Mwarindira.
