The state run Herald paper has reported a claim that MDC-T councillors are allegedly bribing voters.
The paper alleges that councillors are in vote-buying and fleecing of desperate home-seekers after promising to allocate them residential stands when they assume office.
The paper quoted a Facebook post, in which one Precious Shumba claimed although without evidence that those with money won the MDC-T primary elections. Shumba was cited saying,”what we witnessed at several voting centres yesterday (Sunday) during the primary election revealed that indeed the powerful and those with money get the result that they want at the end of the day.
Some of the sitting councillors pocketed thousands of dollars from desperate people claiming that they will process allocation of residential stands, while the daring went around buying and distributing cooking oil, sugar, and buying membership cards for their perceived supporters.
But Harare Mayor Councillor Bernard Manyenyeni rubbished Shumba’s claims.
He said those with not all those with money won the primary elections.
