By Paul Nyathi|Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s father in law Kenny Mubaiwa has resigned as Dynamos FC president.

Mubaiwa revealed his resignation to state run media in a one on one interview on Thursday evening.

Mubaiwa said his decision emanates from excessive interference by the Glamour Boys board chairman Bernard Mariot.

Mubaiwa bemoaned lack of freedom in making key decisions including those relating to technical team appointments.

“We had agreed that Lloyd Mutasa will be fired if he failed to meet set targets. The agreement was short lived as Mariot felt Mutasa should come back to the team despite the fact that I had been negotiating with Gibson Mahachi for the return of Kalisto Pasuwa”, said Mubaiwa.

Mubaiwa reflected on different styles of leadership at DeMbare from the time when club legend Freddy Mukwesha was at the helm.

“When Freddy Mukwesha was board chairman we never had any problems relating to interference, but with Mariot it has been a different case. This is why you find under Mukwesha we were able to win 4 league titles,” he said.

The Harare giants who are seating on position 13 on the current log standing have had a slow start to the 2108 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season amassing a paltry 14 points from a total of 15 matches.

Mubaiwa’s resignation ends the Harare businessman’s reign at the helm of a club he first joined as vice president in 2010 before becoming the president in 2011.

His reign will be best remembered for the four league titles won by the club under Kalisto Pasuwa.
