By Own Correspondent| There was drama yesterday when it was revealed that Ndebeles were slapped with a ban in a UK company.

This was the infamous dodgy funeral insurance company, Madzimai Akatendeka Ltd. It is owned by the humiliated 40 year old sociallite Fungai Maruta who has defrauded many Zimbabweans here.

Untold numbers of women have in the last few weeks narrated their disturbing accounts of being duped to part with their precious earnings. But none of those accounts match that of discrimination on the basis of tribe. An impeccable audio recording was replayed in which Maruta instructs that only Shona is to be used in the company, effectively banning many of her customers who do not speak the language. One victim who spoke said while she can understand the language, she “can not speak Shona, and it is unfair that this is now said more than two years after the company was launched” and particularly after Maruta took their money in subscriptions without ever revealing that she would one day push away non Shona speakers. Maruta can be heard in the below LIVE video declaring that only Shona is to be used and this at all times in this group. This expose’ is part of the classic whistleblowing series of programmes ZimEye began last week following the fradulent activities revealed.

There was more drama when a male caller telephoned attempting to defend Maruta. The man made claims that he is a police officer with one of the constabularies in the UK and he claimed that he has verified that she did not use people’s contributions to purchase her recently bought Land Rover. During the heat of being grilled, the man’s phonecall was suddenly withdrawn, after being challenged on the credibility of him being a police officer.
