Anglican Church Ventures Into Football

The Anglican Church will trade scriptures for football boots as they are set to sponsor a division two club, Anglican Saints.

Saints have started preparing for life in the division two with calling for potential players to come for trials over the weekend at Greendale Sports Club.

The club’s coach, known as Tumo, confirmed the development adding that the club want to assemble a strong team as they want to play PSL games after two years.

“Our club is a newly formed club, being run by the Anglican Church. So we have been registered in the Mashonaland East Division two and we holding trials so that we can assemble a team,” he said.

Anglican church now follows in the footsteps of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya, who owns Yadah Football Club, which is playing in the top-flight league having gained promotion from Division One.

A Kwekwe based prophet, Prophet Effort Vakai Maphosa also owns a football team,Grace Stars, formerly known as Imomo Imomo Football Club.

Nigerian televangelist Temitope Balogun Joshua, commonly known as T B Joshua
owns My People Football Club in Nigeria.
