By Own Correspondent| Government has rejected the resignation of senior director in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

Angeline Karonga handed in her resignation letter a few days after corruption charges were levelled against her.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Joel Biggie Matiza told the state media that Karonga tendered her resignation at a wrong time as she has a case pending before the courts.

Said Matiza:

Yes, her resignation was turned down until her case which is before the courts are finalised. Her resignation letter states that she has served long enough and wants to resign, but it was felt that she should wait for the finalisation of her case.

Karonga is currently on bail on corruption charges. She was jointly charged with Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe general manager David Chawota.

The duo allegedly used a company they had formed, called Akodac Consultancy Services in 2009 which was awarded a tender by the Zimbabwe Road Admisitrauon Authority (ZINARA) in the same Ministry were Karonga is a director.

The company was then contracted to supply bitumen to Zinara and was paid US$1 234 004,72.8.-StateMedia
