More Kwekwe Accident Victims Named

Police have released more names of victims of the Kwekwe accident involving Govasberg and Mandeep buses on Sunday morning.


Twelve people perished in the horror crash.
In a statement yesterday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said; “The victims of the fatal road traffic accident that occurred on 6 October 2019 at the 234km per along Harare-Bulawayo road have been positively identified by their next of kin . . .”


The identified victims are Christina Mufambi, a female adult from Mushongwe Village, Chief Chireya, Gokwe North; Tanaka Nyamazana (4) of Zhombe Growth Point, Zhombe; and Absheber Imbayago (6) of Village Imbayago, Chief Chireya, Gokwe.


Others are Junior Livingstone Manyere (three-months-old) of Chief Chireya Village, Nembudziya; and Memory Laura (31).


Asst-Comm Nyathi said three bodies are yet to be identified and are being held at Kwekwe General Hospital Mortuary.


“Members of the public are free to approach the institution to assist with the identification. We urged drivers to be observant, exercise extreme caution, avoid speeding and above all be safety conscious while driving on the road,” he said.


On Monday, police had positively identified Tafadzwa Shambare of Overspill, Epworth in Harare; Richard Muchenje (40); Gedion Magwaza (40) of Chivi; and Shadreck Muyinisi Chirombe of Buhera.State media
