DSTV Finishes Assessing ZBC New 24 Hour News Channel

Broadcast satellite service provider Dstv has completed assessing the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Services (ZBC)’s 24-hour news channel which will be available both locally and throughout the SADC region.

The signing of the contract and launch of the channel is expected to lapse at the end of November.

Briefing the media on what emerged from Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, Information and Publicity Minister Monica Mutsvangwa gave an update on the 24-hour news channel.

“On the launch of a 24-hour news channel on DSTV, Cabinet was informed that assessment of the TV channel by Multichoice (DSTV) has been completed,” she said.

ZBC has also removed the analog systems and replaced them with the procured high definition equipment.

“Pertaining to the construction of high definition studio for independent producers, old analog equipment had been removed, while high definition equipment has been procured,” she added

Mutsvangwa also spoke on the outdoor public viewing screen that government has started erecting in the rural Matebeleland north.

“Regarding the installation of hardware components for the Outdoor Viewing Screen at Nyika Growth Point in Ward 11 of Bikita District, Cabinet noted that the sound system has been procured,”
