VLADIMIR PUTIN has played down Donald Trump’s impeachment calling it nonsense and saying the Senate will reject allowing him to continue as US President.

Russia’s President Mr Putin has said he thinks Trump will survive the impeachment proceddings. 

This comes after the House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump on Wednesday.

Putin said the allegations against Trump are “dreamt up” and that he believes the U.S. Senate is unlikely to remove Trump from office.

Putin also added that Russia is ready to agree on a new STARTarms treaty with the United States, but that there has been no response to Russian proposals.
