By A Correspondent- Zaka Rural District Council has handed over a council beerhall at Veza Business Centre to be used as offices by the Registrar-General’s Department.
The development was confirmed by Zaka RDC chief executive David Majaura.
He said:
We received reports from villagers in areas such as Baramanza who were travelling up to 60km to access identity documents.
We, thus, have decided to surrender the Veza Beerhall, which was just lying idle, into that centre.
Reports indicate that some villagers had to travel very long distances to reach the nearest offices to collect National ID’s and birth certificates, forcing some to live without the documents.
When completed, the office will serve more than 10 000 households from Zaka West.
