Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku has confirmed a Covid-19 related death at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital

This is the first coronavirus passing at the open medical clinic. 

Talking in Sandton on Tuesday, Masuku said the casualty hailed from Soweto and subsequently, wellbeing experts in the territory are getting ready for a potential flare-up in the township. 

“There is a passing that occurred at Charlotte Maxeke as affirmed by the Minister (of Health Zweli Mkhize). Each demise is reported by the priest subsequent to talking with the national Covid-19 order group,” said Masuku. 

Mkhize communicated worry about the demise on Durban on Monday, saying the 57-year-old had now evident hidden manifestations just like the case with the various survivors of the infection. 

Notable radio personality and columnist Redi Tlhabi prior affirmed that one of her family members, who lived in Soweto, died from Covid-19. 

In a statement, this is what Redi Tlhabi said of her late cousin.

“Somi had no history of movement. He lived and worked in Soweto. He as of late opened a bistro at the Hector Peterson Memorial. He was so pleased. We can just presume that he connected with certain travelers. We basically don’t know and make no positive cases. He had no previous issues.”
