Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya said the club has launched investigations into reports that some players are engaging in dawn training sessions that involve full contact in violation of the 21-day national lockdown rules.

Speaking to NewsDay on Wednesday, Ndiraya said DeMbare players were given individual training programmes that they must follow during the stay-at-home period and those who violated the restrictions will be punished.

Said Ndiraya:
We gave our players individual training programmes that they must follow during this lockdown.

I have asked someone and have been told that the players do morning training sessions from around 5am, but the problem is that we do not allow them to engage in full-contact matches, so we are investigating on our side and some people could be punished.

Reports indicate that players from several Premier Soccer League clubs, among them Dynamos, Harare City, Ngezi Platinum Stars, Triangle, Cranborne Bullets and Black Rhinos, have been training in groups at the break of dawn to keep fit ahead of the 2020 season.

Meanwhile, the nation is eagerly waiting and wondering what will happen when the 21-day lockdown lapses on Sunday, with clubs hoping to return to training next week in preparation for the new season.-NewsDay
