By A Correspondent| Opposition MDC Alliance Secretary General Charlton Hwende says 300 000 objections have been filed with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) against candidates nominated by a rival faction to replace recalled legislators elected on Proportional Representation.

A few months back, the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe recalled over 10 legislators elected on an MDC Alliance ticket. This followed a Supreme Court ruling that reversed the elevation of Nelson Chamisa after the death of founding President Morgan Tsvangirai.

After the recall, the Khupe faction submitted to ZEC, names of persons to fill the vacant seats both in the national assembly and senate.

ZEC proceeded to publish names, calling for objections to be filed before the names could be confirmed.

Angered by the whole drama that proceeded the Supreme Court ruling, MDC Alliance members have not wasted time, flooding ZEC with objections which if considered would spell doom to Khupe who is also hoping to bounce back in parliament.

Hwende took to Twitter to announce the master stroke move that could put the whole process into a quandary.

“Over 300 000 objections filed with @ZECzim in Harare and their various Provincial offices by registered voters rejecting the electoral fraud that seek to remove the people they elected and replace them with people that @DrThoko_Khupe fielded & the voters rejected,” said Hwende.
