The Development Bank of Belarus has revealed that it is finalising a 50 million United States Dollar Mining equipment facility to boost Zimbabwe’s mining sector.  

The Belarus mining deal comes at a time the sector is on the mend with expectations high that it will hit the 12 billion United States dollar mark in line with Vision 2030.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa welcomed the Belarus Mining Facility as a giant step towards rejuvenating the mining sector.

“Over and above our cooperation with Belarus in the agriculture sector, plans are underway to enhance our cooperation to equip and modernise the mining sector,” the President said.

The Development Bank of Belarus Board Chairperson, Mr Andrey Zhishkevich revealed the finalisation of the deal, in an exclusive interview with ZBC News, on the sidelines of the launch of the 51 Million United States Dollar Belarus Agricultural Mechanisation Programme this Wednesday.

Mr Zhishkevich said his country is ready to unconditionally avail a new 50 Million United States dollar mining equipment deal to the new dispensation.

“The agric-mechanisation programme we witnessed today is just the beginning, we have structured another potentially lucrative deal in mining, and this is to the tune of US$50 million which will be availed unconditionally to mechanise the mining sector and boost productivity,” reveals Mr. Zhishkevich.
