South Africa Covid-19 Deaths Surge Over 19 000

JOHANNESBURG – Health officials are warning of a second wave of COVID-19 infections in the country.
Last week, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said he was concerned about a nine percent increase in novel coronavirus cases over a seven-day period countrywide.
The health department reported 891 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of cases to 716,759.
There have been 40 additional COVID-19 deaths recorded, 10 of these occurred in the past 48 hours.
South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 19,008.
Recoveries currently stand at 646,721, which translates to a 90% recovery rate.
