Tinashe Sambiri|President Nelson Chamisa has described the persecution of journalists and human rights activists by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration as shocking.

President Chamisa was commenting on the relentless persecution of prominent Harare journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono.

Speaking to the media in the capital Harare on Wednesday, President Chamisa said:

Democracy is under siege. Why are they arresting those who are fighting corruption instead of arresting those who are behind corruption?

Journalists must be allowed to do their job without being victimized.

Corruption is grossly affecting our economy.

Hopewell has done nothing wrong.Exposing corruption and criminal activities is not a crime.”
