Why Mwonzora And Not Chamisa ? – OPINION

By Joseph Takunda I welcome on to the political scene the re-energised and revitalised MDCT led by Senator Douglas Mwonzora. Since its recent Congress, the MDCT has been hogging the limelight away from the main opposition party the MDC Alliance with the endorsement of the ruling party ZANU PF.

Despite clear evidence that Mwonzora and MDCT are being forced on Zimbabweans as the “patriotic” opposition by President Mnangagwa, it’s my “hope” that the judicial constructed party will continue to “steal” headlines from the MDC Alliance.

I hope Mwonzora will politically position his party so that it can “threaten” and “rattle” the support base of the main opposition MDC Alliance. I strongly believe that a robust and battle hardened MDCT will force the complacent, arrogant, and ineptitude MDC Alliance into action so that it can strategically reposition itself to become Zimbabwe’s ruling party in 2023.

Therefore, I posit that the rise of Mwonzora is a catalyst for the MDC Alliance to regrouprefocus and reenergise with an eye for the 2023 election. Chamisa needs a “clever” Mwonzora who can politically threaten to knock him off his “pedestal” as Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader and hopefully awaken him from the slumber to reposition him for Zimbabwe’s presidency in 2023.

So, I am “tactically” supporting Senator Mwonzora to be the “trojan horse” that uplifts Nelson Chamisa into ACTION in 2021 and hopefully rope to victory in 2023.

Fellow countrymen, I have been an opposition supporter for the last 22 years and if it means supporting Mwonzora to leverage the MDC Alliance into power, so be it !!!
