The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly applauds President Nelson Chamisa for sending a special delegation composed of top party leadership yesterday to the Haruzivishe family following the jailing of Makomborero Haruzivishe on Tuesday.
The visit to Mako’s rural home in Masvingo by Secretary General Charlton Hwende led delegation must not only be viewed as a sign of astute leadership but of a true revolutionary spirit of solidarity which is the life blood of people’s struggles against oppression.
As an Assembly, we feel energized and reinvigorated by such revolutionary gestures from the party’s top leadership especially at a time when many of our youth leaders are languishing in prisons for demanding a just society.
Yesterday’s visit is not only a guard of honor to Cde Mako and his family but a deluge of emotional support to the Youth Assembly at large and all progressive young people in the country who are still trying to come to terms with his incarceration.
In a week where ZANU PF’s Varakashi tried albeit without success to smuggle a black market narrative that Mako was abandoned, yesterday’s solidarity call is a clear message on what we stand for as movement.
Indeed we are a party of excellence that stands tall in solidarity with the oppressed, the downtrodden and victims of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s oppressive regime.
We are not like Emmerson Mnangagwa who feasts on mazondo in a luxurious jet hired through millions from tax payers’ money while the majority sleep on empty bellies because of extreme poverty.
Ours is a people centred leadership that understands, speaks and feels the people’s pain under Mnangagwa’s dictatorship.
This is the reason why we continue to fight shoulder to shoulder with the oppressed.
Long live the spirit of cadre to cadre, people to people solidarity!
We demand release of all political prisoners!
