By A Correspondent | The leader of the (allegedly Mnangagwa backed) MDC-T party, Douglas Mwonzora has responded to the Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema’s preference for Nelson Chamisa saying the Zambians are not the ones who should choose Zimbabwean leaders.

Senator Mwonzora briefly spoke to ZimEye responding to unfounded allegations that he had launched a High Court application to block Chamisa from flying to Lusaka for Hichilema’s Inauguration.

Speaking to Simba Chikanza, Mwonzora said:

“I am aware that it is not up to Zambian people to choose a Zimbabwean leaders so I have no issues with president Hichilema at all. I have no issue with Zambians, because it is their prerogative to invite whoever they want at their function,” he said.

He however added saying his party’s relationship with the UPND should remain unaffected.

He said:

“It’s not our issue it’s not our business and it does not affect and should never affect our relationship and by the way the relationship with the MDCT and the UPND in Zambia is going to be a diplomatic relationship this party is not a government;

“so we will give it the respect that it deserves as a government of a sovereign nation and we endeavour to work with them to bring social, political, and economic development to our region, the SADC region and all its people.

“So we have no issue with the Zambian president, we have no issues with the Zambian people.”
