A Mhangura man who assaulted a driver for talking to his wife has been jailed 60 days.

Mike Banda, 62, of Alpha Farm and a driver at Sino-China Mhangura appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Melody Rwizi charged with two counts of assault.

The complainants are Mondrick Mungava, 61 and Banda’s wife Shupikai Frank, 40,

He pleaded guilty and was fined $15 000 or spend 30 days in jail for each count.

He will pay $30 000 or spend 60 days in jail if he fails to deposit the money with the clerk of court.

Prosecuting Odrah Chitoro told the court that on August 21 at Alpha Farm, Banda followed his wife who was looking for firewood and saw her talking to Mungava.

He accused his wife of having a love affair with Mungava.

Banda in a fit of rage started assaulting Mungava and his wife with a wooden stick several times.

Mungava sustained injuries and filed a report.
