Family and business.

I have learned that you can’t have both at the same time. It’s either you have enough time to spend with your family and lack money, or you provide money and lack time with your family. For the past years, I have been struggling to balance time at work and time with my family. I had to make a difficult decision, whether to spend more time at home or at work.

It us said, family needs memories and if you miss certain events, that time will never return, yes it’s very correct but all those good memories will not pay school fees, buy food or create a legacy that your children shall inherit.

Here is the thing, if you decide to be a father who is always available at home all the time, your family will enjoy your presents but you are likely to fail to provide the basics that a family needs. Unless if your work is flexible and you can earn good money while available at home, then you are a blessed man.

Your wife will not survive through good memories that you share everyday, she will expect you to go out and hustle, then return home with food. Your children will expect you to meet their demands, clothes, food, and good education.

Another day, I was in a conversation with a certain elder, and he was so hard on me. He said, “You need to be home more often,
Your family needs you.

We went further in our conversation and I was very curious to know what have achieved by staying at home, he has nothing to show, he failed to even provide a house,at the age of 65 years old, his family is still renting. I politely decline his advice.

I know there is no one formula to a better life, but if we go back to bible principles, in the book of Genesis, it says man shall feed from his sweat. This means the man’s role is to hustle for the family.

Whenever I am home, I make sure I spend quality time with my family. But most of the time I am hustling for them, so that they can go to school, eat whatever they want, dress in good clothes.

Let me share a secret, if there is money in the house, there will be no fighting or queries. If your kids are misbehaving, you order them to go and play upstairs. It’s enough punishment. If your wife is upset, you may say, “Hold on, we can’t speak in front of kids. Let’s finish this issue when we go on holiday in Dubai.”

These things can be achieved when you are determined to hustle.

Some men have become lazy and hide behind creating quality time with family.

At the end of the day, it’s your life. Do what works for you and your family. There is no one size fits all. It is just my opinion.
