Three women from Nyanga, including one identified as Mai Oliver, have been remanded out of custody after appearing in court on Tuesday following their arrest for assaulting another woman.

The trio was apprehended on Monday after a video of the assault went viral on social media, sparking outrage. Zimbabwe Republic Police Deputy Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Blessmore Chishaka confirmed the arrests, stating, “As ZRP, we noted the concerns of the general public following the circulation of a video where a woman is assaulted viciously by other women. We would like to confirm that this incident happened in Nyanga, and the three women have since been arrested. They appeared in court, and the matter is being dealt with.”

In the disturbing footage, Mai Oliver is seen accusing the victim of having an affair with her husband, identified only as Baba Oliver. Despite the victim’s attempts to deny the allegations, Mai Oliver and two other women proceeded to attack her.

This incident comes shortly after the arrest of six teenagers in July for assaulting a female peer in Hwedza. The teenagers have since been convicted.
