Tragedy struck on Wednesday, September 4, when renowned crime-fighter Mandla Nkambule was gunned down in Katlehong Ext-6. Nkambule dedicated his life to combating crime, serving 20 years in the South African Police Service’s Flying Squad Unit before founding his private security company, Umbrella.

Nkambule’s impact extended beyond his own organization, as he played a crucial role in establishing Crime Fighting Units such as Yizo Yizo and Thathazonke in Ekurhuleni and surrounding regions. RTT Coordinator Cde Jongizizwe Dlabathi praised Nkambule’s contributions, highlighting the significant presence of undercover police expected at his funeral.
