The Parliament of Zimbabwe has issued an apology to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the nation following a power outage on November 28, 2024, which occurred just as the Minister of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion concluded the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement.

In an official statement, Parliament explained that the power failure was caused by hailstorms that caused a disruption at the substation supplying electricity to the Parliament building. Additionally, the standby generator, which was supposed to provide backup power, was also affected and failed to automatically start due to a loss of memory during the outage.
