By Tinoonga Mawere, Masvingo| The National Treasurer General(Youth) for the MDC formation led by Welshman Ncube, Godwin Masiya has resigned to join Joice Mujuru’s People First.
Masiya becomes the latest high profile politician to join Mujuru who seems determined to clash with her former boss President Robert Mugabe in the make or break 2018 polls. Former MDC and Zanu PF bigwigs are also jostling for influencial posts in Mujuru’s People First, it has emerged.
Masiya told reporters in Masvingo earlier yesterday he quit the party in a huff citing nepotism, regionalism and what he termed a ‘general lack of commitment’. He said it was time to move on to a vibrant political party capable of delivering the much awaited transformation in the country. He added he was fed up with pumping out resources from his pockets to sponsor a losing cause.
“I have decided to quit the party because there is nepotism and regionalism. The leaders are only concerned about one province in the country so it is a real farce. I have therefore decided to move on to better things. I am tired of using my money to sponsor party activities and the guys at the top are simply ungrateful. I therefore feel it is now time to move on. There is lack of seriousness in the party so I will move on to People First,” said Masiya .
Sources in the Welshman Ncube led MDC formation told ZimEye.com the party leadership has been rocked by Masiya’s resignation and Ncube himself expressed shock at the resignation.
“Masiya’s resignation has really rocked the party leadership because he is the man who pulled the strings in terms of seeking funding for the party and he is a long serving member,” said a party official.
The resignation comes at a time Zanu PF and MDC supporters are clandestinely attending People First strategic meetings across the country.
Mujuru has emerged as the leading contender to lock horns with the nonegenarian -Mugabe who turns 92 early next year.
Mujuru who faced the ignonimy of being kicked out of Zanu PF for allegedly plotting to kill Mugabe is expected to wrestle power from her former party and end three decades of social, political and economic misery for the people of Zimbabwe.

Whilst I believe in rights of choosing who to join I think it is bad to denigrate those who mentored you to be a politician. What is it with us Africans, blame blame to justify our fliflopping. Just join PF and chase you dream kwete kusiya wamamira masheets ko ukanzi flight cancelled and you rebook in the same hotel and you are given the same room?

If you say that we must not support Mai Mujuru then suggest an alternative. We need a person with the critical mass to challenge Zanu PF and Robert Mugabe. Is she a saint? The answer is a No but that holds true for all including yourself. Therefore we cannot disqualify her on the basis of her previous actions, many of which are not necessarily proven. When you look at all the candidates available you can agree with me that Mai Mujuru could be the most likely candidate to challenge Zanu PF successfully. That she was Zanu could actually work in her favour as she knows how the system works. I would therefore encourage people like you to give her the benefit of doubt and support her project which could give us a new government and restore Zimbabwe’s economy.

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK Let me laugh to this funny analysis. Why do people think Mujuru can be a messiah? She had been in government for about 34 years holding some very influential top posts and involved in top corrupt activities which even led to the shutting down of some companies and some of the companies which she ‘cursed’ I mean her hand involved in its affairs, are still struggling with operations for eg. ZISCO.
People must be very careful about this ZANU PF party masquerading as people first. People have been killed in Chiyadzwa in the day light whilst, Mujuru was the VP, Rugare Gumbo, Mliswa, Mutasa were part of the government. What new ideas do you think they can bring to the people of ZIMBABWE when we know what they did to the innocent Zimbabweans.
Did she ever condemned the killing of the innocent people when she was in government? No these people First thugs are not prosecuted because Mugabe fears that he could be also exposed. The general even died in a house which they forcefully acquired from the white man and Mujuru Joyce is still staying there. Mujuru kana akambokwirwa na Mugabe, which threat do you think she can pose to him. She is the weakest part of this so called People First project. Vanhu musakanganwa chezuro nehope. It means even if Mugabe left ZANU PF and formed a new party, and begin to promise you heaven on earth you will follow him. This party wasn’t formed out of love to the suffering of the people but rather shungu dzekudzingwa. Idai vasina kudzingwa vanhu ava by now they could be still enjoying looting our resources with the blessing of the dictator. Mliswa each and every press conference you can hear from his words that he really miss ZANU PF, and if he could by any chance invited by the president for readmission he will run like a little kid seen her mother after two weeks.
MDC Ncube’s people its not surprising because it was a party of selfish people who are just after positions. Its not surprising.
