By Rowdy Mabaudi | Senator Aguy Georgias did alot for Zimbabwe and I stand as an example proof of everything he fought for to see. I am one of the disability representatives: Appointed Special Interest Councilor for Harare, Chairman on the Advisory Board to Minister of Youth overseeing the empowerment and mainstreaming of youths with disabilities.
Zimbabwe has seen agents of regime change attacking government policies claiming that they have been disastrous. These blasphemous entities make no reference to the natural disasters such as drought, climate change , sanctions and others.
These agents of regime change do not make reference to the progress we have made as a nation. The progress that His Excellency President Mugabe has been inspired by God to deliver to the people of Zimbabwe. President Mugabe has never worked alone in his quest to deliver a better Zimbabwe.
President Mugabe worked with Sen. Aguy Georgias to bring development and progress to Zimbabwe. Sen Georgias stood against the institutional racial discrimination that was practised systematically against the black and mixed race Zimbabweans. Sen Georgias was part of the struggle that fought against discriminatory labour laws and wage structures that robbed the indigenous people of millions of dollars that should have been theirs.
It is still sad that mixed race Zimbabweans are still battling to achieve recognition and relevance in Zimbabwe. My mixed race brothers and sisters are embroiled in the same struggle as us the disabled. We are a marginalised group a forgotten people who suffered under the settler regime and years after independence we are still secluded from National development.
However I would like to commend Gushungo for working tirelessly to ensure that there is representation of the marginalised in government and in the party. I thank Gushungo for uniting us as people and Sen. Georgias is a vivid example of Gushungo’s policy of inclusivity. I urge my disabled brothers and my comrades from the mixed race communities to stand up and participate in national development.
Sen. Georgias fought for us to achieve the basic right to vote, to own property to work in public services and to get us citizenship in our country of birth, now we need to fight to restore our economic dignity that has been shredded by machinations of regime change agents, the same agents who sanctioned our country and our right to sovereignity, those who sanctioned our economic well being and experimented their disastrous Bretton Woods institutional policies on our economy without any compensation of sorts.
May God grant us strength to stand up and be the generation that made a difference the same way sen Georgias and his generation made a difference to the political and industrial development of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is a nation that has been blessed by God, a nation that fears God and those devil worshippers persecute us for loving and respecting God.
Your Excellency we stand with you, marginalised as we are , we stand in support of your stance on homosexuality and your stance on empowerment. These two are Biblical principles we should never compromise on, people like Sen. Georgias lived their lives in defence of your stance and in support of your stance your excellency because it was the right thing to do.
Over the years we have lost many great comrades who have stood in defence of the marginalised such as Cde Solo Maimbodei, Dr. Sakupwanya, Jairos Jiri, Sen Georgias, sen. Culverwell among others. I take this opportunity to pass my concolences to you your excellency, the Georgias family and all my mixed race brethren in Zimbabwe on the loss of a gallant industrialist and development practitioner a true representative of the marginalised and a contributor to the country’s revolution. May his soul rest in peace…
