Terrence Mawawa | Gweru A night outing ended in tragedy for a Zimbabwe Republic Police detective, after he was bashed by a sex worker at a local club. Chrispen Musiiwa, a police officer stationed at CID Gweru was attacked by the sex worker at Salaco Night Club while drinking beer with the lady.
The woman, Tabeth Tshabalala(22) of 33 Ndema Road appeared before Magistrate Florence Nago last week facing assault charges. At a time millions of Zimbabweans are struggling with socio-economic challenges, the ZRP cop’s decision to spend cash with the sex worker backfired.
The incident happened on July 20 at the night club when the two were drinking beer. Under unclear circumstances Tshabalala who was holding an empty beer bottle struck Musiiwa once on the forehead.
Musiiwa bled profusely after the attack. Tshabala did not disclose the reason for hitting Musiiwa with the empty bottle. It is speculated the two could have had an altercation over cash. Tshabalala was sentenced to six months in prison and three months were suspended for five years on condition she does not commit a similar offence. The other three months were suspended on condition that she performs community service. Efforts to get a comment on what led to the assault -from Musiiwa were fruitless.
