A senior Zimbabwe Republic Police Officer was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a junior cop.

Assistant Inspector Gibson Gunika of Chiredzi Police Station appeared before Magistrate Geraldine Mutsotso facing assault charges last week.

Gunika allegedly hit Constable Misheck Mubika with an empty beer bottle.

The facts were that Gunika was involved in an argument with Mubika.

Gunika then took an empty beer bottle and hit Mubika on the forehead.

The court also heard that Gunika was restrained from further assaulting Mubika by fellow cops.

Prosecutors from the ZRP are hesitant to take up the matter, according to the court documents.
