Deputy Agriculture Minister, Davis Marapira, has threatened Masvingo City Council officials over an irrigation project he is running without approval from the local authority.

Marapira’ s irrigation project is also interfering with the local authority’ s water reticulation system.

Council officials told ZimEye.com yesterday efforts to rectify the matter hit a brick wall because of Marapira’ s refusal to cooperate with the local authority.

“Our efforts to resolve the matter have not materialised.

At one point Marapira accused us of plotting to sabotage the indigenisation and empowerment programme,” said a senior council official.

Marapira was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.
