Masvingo City Council(MCC) has dismissed claims that there are discussions between the local authority and a Zanu PF official regarding the payment of outstanding water bills.

Eddison Zvobgo Junior, an aspiring Zanu Parliamentary candidate for Masvingo Urban Constituency last week claimed he had approached the city council in a bid to resolve the standoff between the local authority and residents. The city council says it is owed millions of dollars in unpaid water bills by residents.

Zvobgo further indicated he implored the city council to consider the plight of the hard pressed residents, given the economic situation in the country.

However Masvingo City Council treasurer, Thandiwe Dube said she was unaware of the negotiations.

“I am not aware of the said negotiations. As a matter of fact we do not take orders from individuals who are outside the city council hierarchy,” said Dube.
