Gone are the days when news reporters used to be crammed in urban areas.

Media Centre and its partners invaded Mashonaland East Province previously regarded as a no go area for Non Governmental Organisations and successfully held a training programme for citizen journalists on Tuesday.

“We carried out a Citizen Journalism Training Programme in
Mash East Province where community members
from Mudzi, Murehwa, Mutoko and UMP were
trained on how to become effective and authentic news reporters.

This was a move necessitated by the need to
involve the citizens in spearheading the advocacy for
pro-development initiatives within their communities
and also as way of demanding accountability and
transparency from their local and national leaders.

We also incorporated BVR_Education , emphasising
the need for those not registered to visit their
nearest ZEC District offices as a matter of urgency.

We also emphasized the
need for the participants expose perpetrators of violence during and after the polls,” said Media Centre Director Earnest Mudzengi in a statement posted on Facebook.
