MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa duped the whole nation.
Speaking at Jerera Growth Point, Chamisa said Mnangagwa played with sweet words when he in November announced that his administration has brought a New Dispensation.
Chamisa’s speech signifies a radical departure from his earlier position. Since the November coup, he had been saying the Mnangagwa regime is better than Robert Mugabe’s.
This time addressing over a crowd of over 6,000 supporters, Chamisa screamed into the microphone pejorative statements against Mnangagwa’s political slogans.
The rally was one of many others being held around the country under the MDC Alliance banner.
He said, “Some are calling this a new dispensation while some are saying we have a new leadership. We cannot have a new dispensation with someone who has been around for 38 years who suddenly returns declaring that they are now new. Who baptised you? Whatever was done by Mugabe you were also approving it. Him being a pastor, you being a deacon. Now you want to criticise and lie to us saying ‘this church was a bad one it had a bad pastor’ but you were the one endorsing him. You are not fools you people of Zimbabwe, you cannot be lied to or deceived,” he said.
He also added saying, “we hear you saying Zimbabwe is open for business. Who had closed it?”
