Tinashe Sambiri|The editor of a State-run weekly publication on Saturday elected to throw journalism ethics out of the window in a bid to please Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The overzealous editor, sounding like a Zanu PF Political Commissar, urged Mr Mnangagwa to punish MDC Alliance leader, President Chamisa through “other measures.”

The MDC Alliance has urged journalists to respect laid down ethics and principles of the esteemed profession.

Ruzvidzo’s ‘Whip Chamisa’ Call: The Sunday Mail Gravitating Towards A Dangerous RTLM Path

18-04-2021

The Sunday Mail, a weekly public newspaper turned into a ZANU PF mouthpiece, is treading towards a dead end!

Yesterday, its editor, Victoria Ruzvidzo consigned the ethics of journalism into a pit latrine and called for Emmerson Mnangagwa to “whip an errant child (Nelson Chamisa) physically or through other measures”.

The Sunday Mail and Ruzvidzo must be warned that it is such dangerous remarks from members of the Fourth Estate that plunged Rwanda into a deadly 1994 genocide that left more than 800 thousand people dead.

RTLM, a Rwandan radio station went on a hate speech spewing drive against the minority Tutsis demeaning them as ‘cockroaches’.

Possessed by Radio RTLM demon, Ruzvidzo yesterday implored Mnangagwa to physically assault President Nelson Chamisa whom she chose to refer to as an ‘errant child’.

Just as RTLM radio dehumanized the Tutsis as ‘cockroaches’, The Sunday Mail editor belittled Advocate Nelson Chamisa by referring to him as a ‘child’.

The intention of such abusive, belittling and derogatory language is meant to sanitize violence against the opposition.

We call upon the Zimpapers group to demote the war-like Ruzvidzo from her position as Editor of The Sunday Mail .

Our simple advise to Ruzvidzo is that she must stop abusing her position at The Sunday Mail , resign and join politics.

Media reforms now a must!
