Mrs. Auxillia Mnangagwa has firmly stated that her recent attainment of a PhD was solely based on her merit, dismissing any claims of favoritism or special treatment.

Speaking at a public event in Chiweshe over the weekend, she celebrated the achievement alongside her husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“No favours, no special treatment, just pure merit. I worked tirelessly to achieve this,” Mrs. Mnangagwa declared.

She emphasized the challenges she faced during her academic journey, particularly in completing her research, but expressed pride in overcoming those obstacles. “You cannot talk of favoritism. I even struggled with my research but I am happy to be where I am today,” she added.

Her comments come amid controversy surrounding the rapidity of her academic success, with some critics questioning the process behind the award of her PhD. Mrs. Mnangagwa, however, stands by her assertion that the degree was earned through hard work and dedication, not through any external influences or privileges.
