War Vets Say Chamisa Is A Monster In The Making

By Own Correspondent- War veterans here have described as a “monster in the making” opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

The organisation’s secretary general, Victor Matemadanda said this is so because Chamisa is driven by the “wrong ambitions”.

Said Matemadanda:

“It is unfortunate that Chamisa is not a person who accepts anything but only what he wants and feels.

He is driven by wrong ambitions, he must calm down and respect the law of the country which he wishfully thinks he can rule one day.

Just imagine with such kind of a leader in the event that he becomes president, a president who does not respect the law, this country will become ungovernable.

Chamisa is a monster in the making, so people should be wary of this autocratic kind of a leader.”-StateMedia

“Stop Wasting Water”: Bulawayo Residents Told

By Own Correspondent- Bulawayo residents have been accused of wasting water at a time when dam levels recede at a faster rate.

The low water levels in the city’s supply dams were exacerbated by a drought-induced by the El Nino weather phenomenon experienced during the 2018/19 rainy season.

The latest council report shows that water consumption in the city has been rising steadily since last month.

Engineering Services Director Engineer Simela Dube said:

Weather forecasts for the year 2018/2019 show that the country is likely to experience an El-Nino induced drought.

In addition to this, the City of Bulawayo has seen a steady rise in the consumption of water from an average of 120ML per day to about 145ML per day.

Consequently, this has had an effect in the depletion period of an average of theoretical 29 months.

In this regard, a downward revision of water allocation is sought to hedge against the negative impact of limited rains anticipated in the 2018/2019 season and increased water usage in the city. This request has been approved by council and implementation is in progress.

The council advised residents against the habit of water hoarding, saying such acts result in artificial shortages of water.-StateMedia

Two Robber, Rapists Hauled To Court

By Own Correspondent- Two knife-wielding robbers from Lower Gweru who allegedly broke into a school teacher’s house and gang-raped her before looting property, have been hauled to court facing rape and robbery charges.

Knowledge Prince Nkomo (26) and Hloniphani Sibanda (28) pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and rape before Gweru regional magistrate Mrs Phathekile Msipa.

They were however remanded in custody to May 15.

It is the State’s case that on July 8 last year, Nkomo and Sibanda went to a local Primary school and broke into a teacher’s house.

The court heard how Nkomo and Sibanda, who were armed with a knife, an iron bar and an axe, approached the complainant who was sleeping and threatened to kill her.

They searched the house and took away RTGS$15, six yards of pink and blue African material and an Android cellphone.

Nkomo and Sibanda allegedly blind folded the complainant and gang raped her.

The two also allegedly broke into another house at the same school and assaulted a male teacher who they found sleeping.

They took some clothes from the male teacher’s house and went away.

The duo was arrested in Bulawayo following a tip off by members of the public leading to the recovery of some of the stolen property.

ZESA To Import Power From Moza To Avert Crisis

By Own Correspondent- State power utility Zesa Holdings is working on processes to increase power imports as part of concerted efforts to deal with the current acute shortage of electricity due to reduced generation at Kariba South.

Zesa is also reportedly weighing the possibility of using the 200 megawatt Dema diesel power plant, but there are concerns about the option given the prevailing shortage of fuel in the country.

ZRA warned that if water allocation at Kariba was not reduced and power generation continued at levels above 1 000 megawatts, all power generators at Kariba would be forced to shut down by November 2019.

The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), Zesa generation arm, has cut electricity generation by a third thanks to the water rationing at Kariba South and well-known problems at Hwange Thermal, now being refurbished and extended.

Zimbabwe’s peak power supply improved considerably last year after Zesa commissioned Kariba South Power Station generator units 7 and 8, which added 300MW to the national power grid at peak demand although it needs the larger Kariba South to operate closely with the improved Hwange to get the full benefit, taking Kariba South off base load to concentrate on peak supply.

Zesa Holdings spokesperson, Fullard Gwasira, said yesterday that the State power utility was working on increasing imports, with the bulk of imports likely to come from Mozambique while South Africa would also be an option.

Well placed industry sources said Zimbabwe may, however, need to reach an agreement with some of the regional power utilities it owes significant amounts of money for earlier power imports.

“Zesa is currently working towards increasing imports, particularly from Mozambique’s (Hydro Cahora Bassa), but this is also coupled with initiatives that we have undertaken to try and increase power generation in the country. For instance, Hwange Power Station (HPS) is now running on four generators and the fifth one is set to come on-line soon and this is a huge generator, which can produce up to 100 megawatts,” Mr Gwasira said.

Zesa also has plans to improve the availability of power, which entails shutting down some generators at Kariba to conserve water, which can then be used to generate electricity during peak demand periods. The peak demand for electricity in Zimbabwe occurs in the evenings and morning periods. Zimbabwe is facing a critical shortage of power also partly because it has not invested in new capacity over the decades.

However, Mr Gwasira said customers could also play a huge part in reducing the extent and scope of power cuts to balance available supply and demand by adjusting their power consumption patterns.

For instance, Mr Gwasira said domestic consumers could shift the load by cooking earlier instead of the 5pm to 9pm period, when the majority uses the power while those who irrigate crops may do so late in the night when most of the users do not need power.

“Customers also need to conserve power through load shifting, which can reduce the extent of load-shedding by bringing forward certain activities or delaying them to non-peak demand periods,” he said.

ZPC said recently that generating power at previous average levels of 705MW would reduce water levels at Kariba Dam below minimum accepted levels before the start of the rainy season in November.-StateMedia

Woman Nabbed With Drugs Worth R2mil In S.A

By Own Correspondent- South African police have arrested two suspects, aged 38 and 39, in connection with the smuggling of drugs with an estimated street value of R2 million.

The two suspects, also possessed counterfeit goods which they had smuggled into South Africa via Beitbridge Border Post.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed the arrests last night.

He said the drugs were seized from a woman on Sunday morning at around 6am.

The suspect’s nationality will be revealed soon

“The arrests involved the seizure of drugs worth approximately R2 million and the recovery of counterfeit goods worth thousands of rands during separate incidents around the Makhado and Modimolle clusters,” said Col Ngoepe.

“On Sunday at around 06h00, our members were performing their normal duties at the Beitbridge port of Entry in the Musina policing area when they searched the luggage belonging to a 38-year-old woman.

“During the search, police found 15xcrystal meth drugs with an  estimated street value of over R2 million.

“Preliminary police investigations revealed that this woman was travelling from Harare in Zimbabwe to South Africa”.

He said the other suspect (39) was arrested in the Roadtan policing area outside Modimolle.

He said the man was arrested for possession of counterfeit cigarettes (illegal cigarettes) by police patrolling along the N11 and R33 cross roads near Rathoke Weigh Bridge.

“The police pulled off a Toyota Rav-4 vehicle, searched it and found these cigarettes with the estimated street value of R80 000, cellphones and knives.

“The origin of these cigarettes will be determined by the ongoing police investigations,” said Col Ngoepe.

He said the accused persons would soon appear before the Musina and Roadtan magistrates’ courts respectively adding further investigations were underway.

Limpopo’s acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major-General Jan Scheepers, commended the police saying the arrests were a major breakthrough in their quest to fight crime.

Angolan Man In Harare Begs “Please Don’t Kill Me”

By Own Correspondent- An Angolan man who reportedly got into a a spiritual attack while on his way to seek help from prophets in Zimbabwe brought onlookers along a Harare street to a standstill after he started acting weird and begging to be spared from death.

Francisco Antonio Baptista, 43, was seen at Corner Kwame Nkrumah and First street milling around with his two travelling bags before proceeding to Corner Leopold Takawira and Nelson Mandela.

His conduct raised suspicion as onlookers described him as someone who seemed like he was bewitched for stealing. However, Baptista dismissed the allegation and proved that it was his baggage and he got spiritually attacked while on his way to get help.

“As I was walking by, I saw him moving round his bags. I watched him for over an hour before I called this publication to come and witness.

“I assumed he stole those bags that is why he is acting in that manner,” said a witness.

Baptista told a local publicationthat he had come to seek help from a certain man of God but was not able to meet him.

“I came to visit a friend and seek help from a man of God. I just went to the church but did not meet him. I forgot the name of the church.

“Please don’t kill me I want to go to my country. I have a family. I want to see my wife and children I beg you please.

“I pray every day, these are my goods I did not steal from anyone I just want to go home,” said Baptista.

Anti Chamisa Elements Deform MDC Party Offices Ahead Of His Visit To Bulawayo

The graffiti on the MDC Party Offices in Bulawayo before it was cleaned off.

Own Correspondent|Some unidentified rogue elements took advantage of a quiet Sunday night in Bulawayo to rush to paint some graffiti at the MDC provincial offices denigrating the opposition party’s leader Nelson Chamisa for a host of allegations that hold no substance.

Chamisa was in the city for the party’s provincial caucus where contestants vying for posts at the party’s scheduled congress were presenting their manifestos.

Before Bulawayo, he presided over similar meetings in Matabeleland North, South and the Midlands provinces.

It is suspected the graffiti attacking Chamisa was written between midnight and early morning and party members who arrived at the offices earlier quickly notified their leadership.

Some of the messages written on the walls and gate to the party provincial office include, “Chamisa ule nketha betshabi (Chamisa you are tribalistic), “Chamisa usubulele i MDC” (Chamisa you have destroyed MDC), “Chamisa a worse dictator”, “Chamisa uyadelela” (Chamisa you are disrespectful) among other derogatory and inflammatory messages.

Vigilant party youth members moved quickly to erase the graffiti.

Mnangagwa Takes Harare Mayor To Task Over Sprucing Up Harare CBD

President Emmerson Mnangagwa

State Media|President Mnangagwa has urged Harare Mayor Councillor Herbert Gomba to ensure that all property owners refurbish their buildings to restore the city’s sunshine status.

Most buildings in the city have not been attended to for many years.

The President even suggested that Clr Gomba comes up with by-laws that will compel property owners to keep their buildings refurbished and painted all the time.

“Your Worship, Cde Mayor, look at the beauty of this building,” he said, referring to the new imposing structure now housing the Labour Court, during the commissioning of the building along Rotten Row, next to the Harare Magistrates’ Courts.

“May you insist that those in business in your city uplift the buildings by repainting them.”

He went on: “It is my suggestion for Your Worship to pass by-laws which require that after a certain period the building must be face lifted.

“This is yet another example of what can be achieved where there is unity of purpose and collaboration.”

Government’s Vision 2030 seeks to ensure that buildings in the cities are well maintained as one way of building a great business reputation.

Last year Clr Gomba directed property owners to refurbish their properties for the city to regain its sunshine status, but to date, nothing has been done to ensure that property owners complied with the council directive.

He even threatened to invoke some by-laws to achieve the council goal on reconditioning and refurbishment of city buildings.

However, President Mnangagwa’s clarion call keeps up with his thrust to protect the image of cities.

The President even went a step further last year when he introduced monthly clean-up day, which is held on the first Friday of each calendar month.

The initiative was made to ensure that the country has sustainable environment management and waste disposal systems.

Exterior maintenance of buildings usually makes businesses look more professional. It also protects buildings against degradation and ensures regulatory compliance.

Own Correspondent|A woman trying to enter South Africa on a bus via Beitbridge was stopped in her tracks when customs officers found purses full of drugs in her luggage.

The traveller, who arrived at the port of entry with two suitcases in the early hours of Sunday morning, was asked to put her possessions through the customs baggage inspection area.

“Upon physical inspection, an off-white, crystal-like substance concealed in multiple colourfully decorated purses with plastics was found containing substances that reacted positive to tests,” said the SA Revenue Service (Sars) in a statement on Monday.

The woman’s luggage was found to contain a large stash of crystal methamphetamine (tik), estimated to be worth around R2m.

“The goods were detained and handed over to the South African police and the suspect was arrested,” said Sars.

“Preliminary investigations indicated that the traveller had flown from abroad into a neighbouring country and tried to enter South Africa by bus through Beitbridge. Local police have since handed over the matter to the Hawks.”

The woman was expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Industrialists Feel Zim Electricity Is Too Cheap And A Tariff Increase Overdue

Zesa Holdings

State Media|MANUFACTURERS say an upward electricity tariff review to allow Zesa Holdings to fund generation projects, in the face of rolling power shortages of up to 10 hours a day in some parts of the country, has become long overdue as the current US$0.03 per kilowatt hour is rediculous.

Power outages have adversely impacted on the productivity of some companies especially in the Msasa industrial area of Harare.

Zesa released a statement recently saying declining water levels at Kariba South and a shortage of coal would result in load shedding.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) president Mr Sifelani Jabangwe state media on Monday that in some areas, the impact of power outages has been better while it has “been pretty bad” in other areas.

“Some areas have lost production time that is equal to two days and we are hoping that authorities will try to come up with a strategy that spares industry. They can cut electricity elsewhere not the manufacturing sector because that will have an impact on the economy. While we are still to get a full report on the impact of power outages, Msasa has been adversely affected,” said Mr Jabangwe.

Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) president Dr Divine Ndhlukula also said the impact of power outages “has been negative” on industry.

Asked if the average tariff which was previously US$0.0986 per kilowatt hour, and now in RTGS$, both CZI and ZNCC leaders conceded it was time for an upward review of the tariff.

Said Mr Jabangwe: “I think the tariff probably now needs to reviewed because even if you look at it against the interbank rate, the tariff has now come down from the average tariff of US$0.0986 to just over US$0.03.

“We have always said we want it to be around US$0.05 or US$0.06 but it is now way below that. So, clearly a review of the tariff is necessary otherwise we won’t have electricity, we won’t have water. What we are just worried with is that the review should not make us uncompetitive.”

Dr Ndhlukula said “certainly power is now cheaper”.

“When you convert the kind of money we are paying in RTGS$ compared to what we were paying in US dollars, Zesa is now cheaper. The kind of level (new tariff), I would lie but there is need to review the power tariff. It’s unfortunate that it would push up inflation.

“So it’s a catch-22 but three is need to review the power tariff. The new tariff, if it was to come, should take into consideration affordability for some people and of course some cost recovery for Zesa to be able to import power,” said Dr Ndhlukula.

Eng Chivaura said it has also become imperative to raise the tariff in line with the interbank rate.

“Generally, what suffers is maintenance which you experience as blackouts in your localities, lines collapsing because we can’t maintain them, we can’t maintain the switch gears, we can’t maintain transformers, and so on,” said Eng Chivaura.

Zesa’s last tariff application by 49 percent in July 2016 was rejected by Zera.

Grace Mugabe Beats Up Housekeeper For Receiving Cash Gift From Mugabe

Former First Lady Grace Mugabe

Correspondent|Former First Lady Grace Mugabe faces a second allegation of assault after she was accused of beating an employee at the family’s Harare mansion.

Mrs Mugabe, 53, is said to have become enraged that her 95-year-old husband gave the housekeeper a cash wedding gift, punching and striking the woman about the face with a shoe until blood gushed from her wounds.

Mrs Mugabe, sometimes known as “Gucci Grace”, is already wanted in South Africa on separate charges of attacking a model who had been drinking with her sons in Johannesburg.

Shupikai Chiroodza was formally employed by the government at State House, Mr Mugabe’s 10,000 square meter official residence which he built 15 years ago but chose not to live in.

However, the newlywed maid was seconded to the Mugabes’ private residence and claims she was assaulted there on 13 March.

“She started shouting at me and seized me by the neck and pulled me inside the house and locked the door,”  Mrs Chiroodza said in her court application

“She started beating me with clenched fists shouting, ‘who do you think you are here,  you are milking my husband behind my back.’

“She removed her shoes and continued assaulting me with them and blood started gushing out of my forehead, mouth and nose.”

She told her lawyer, Doug Coltart, that Mrs Mugabe told her to return the cash wedding present and not to tell anyone about the events of that day.

The former housekeeper, who has a newborn child and whose husband is unemployed,  said she had never been fired and wanted her job and benefits but had failed to persuade Mr Mugabe’s administration to reinstate her.

She was also rebuffed, she claims, by senior civil servants employed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa who came to power via a coup d’etat later in 2017.

“She tried all the avenues she could to get her job back. It is unusual as a labour case as we have argued she was never fired. She was just told not to come back to work,” Mr Coltart said.

He said the matter was being handled by the civil division of the Attorney-General’s office.

Mrs Mugabe allegedly attacked model Gabrielle Engels with an electrical extension chord in a Johannesburg hotel nearly five months after her clash with her housekeeper.

Mr Mugabe is still in Singapore receiving medical treatment, according to members of the family in Harare. Mrs Mugabe recently returned to Zimbabwe.

Fugitive Who Robbed A Teacher Of R470k Arrested After 8 Months On The Run

Everighten Ncube

State Media|POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested a 52-year-old man who had been on their wanted list since October last year for allegedly defrauding a teacher of R470 000 in cash.

Everight Ncube of Plot 2 Porkbrand in Bulawayo allegedly connived with two accomplices and sold a house in Queens Park suburb that did not belong to them.

Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said Ncube and his accomplices disappeared after selling the house to the teacher.

“We have arrested 52-year-old man for allegedly defrauding a teacher who wanted to buy a house worth R470 000. The suspect connived with two accomplices who were arrested earlier this year for the same crime and sold a house worth US$50 000 that did not belong to them.

The suspects went around Bulawayo suburbs showing their victim various houses in Nkulumane, Newton West and Northend suburbs which they claimed were being sold. Their victim was not impressed with the houses that they had shown him. So the trio led him to a house in Queens Park which the teacher expressed interest in buying. He was told that the house was worth US$50 000,” said Insp Ncube.

He said the teacher offered to pay R470 000 for the house which Ncube pretended to own.

“The suspects brought some fake documents confirming ownership of the house. They had a fake power of attorney document proving that the house belonged to Samuel Mpofu and Mpofu had instructed Ncube to sell it on his behalf. On October 15, 2018, their victim paid R280 000 and later R190 000 for the house,” said Insp Ncube.

“The trio had arranged to take their victim to see his house on October 19 but when he visited their offices, they had already vanished. That’s when it dawned on him that he had been defrauded and he made a police report.”

He said police investigated the matter leading to the arrest of two suspects that have already appeared before the courts.

Insp Ncube said Ncube, who had been on the run since October last year, was spotted last Wednesday by his victim walking in the city’s Central Business District. The victim, he said, confronted the suspect and led him to the police station.

Insp Ncube said the teacher could have been among many who fell prey to the trio.

“As police we suspect Ncube, working with his accomplices, could have defrauded a number of home seekers. Therefore we appeal to members of the public who might have suffered similar losses to come forward. They should approach the CID commercial crimes division who are investigating Ncube. The suspect will be taken to court soon,” he said.

Insp Ncube appealed to home seekers to avoid taking shortcuts while buying houses

Supreme Court Rules that S*x Enjoyed On A False Promise For Marriage Is A Rape Crime

S*x engaged on a false promise of marriage is a crime, the Supreme Court in India has ruled.

In their judgment, a Bench of Justices L. Nageswara Rao and M.R. Shah concluded that a woman was taken advantage of by virtue of the marriage promise, and that that in itself constitutes a crime.

They ruled on the case of the ummamed woman by a government doctor in Chhattisgarh in a 2013 incident.

The man had engaged in a physical relationship with her at his home on the promise of marrying her. At the time of the crime, he was already engaged to marry another woman. He later broke his promise to the victim.

They said that it was clear from the evidence that the man’s intention was to cheat the victim. She would not have consented to the sexual act had he not promised her marriage. “It was a clear case of cheating and deception,” the Supreme Court held.
The court said such incidents were on the rise in modern society.

“Rape is the most morally and physically reprehensible crime in a society, an assault on the body, mind and privacy of the victim. While a murderer destroys the physical frame of the victim, a rapist degrades and defiles the soul of a helpless female. Rape reduces a woman to an animal, as it shakes the very core of her life,” Justice Shah wrote in the judgment.
The court said rape is the “most hated crime”. “It tantamounts to a serious blow to the supreme honour of a woman, and offends both her esteem and dignity,” the judgment said. – Source: The Hindu

Police Pick Up Govt Diamond Company Boss Over Allegedly “Stealing” 200 Bags Of Larfarge Cement

By Farai D Hove| As ZimEye.com exclusively revealed on Monday afternoon, the government diamond company (Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company, ZCDC)’s Finance Director, Charles Gambe was picked up over an allegation of diverting 200 bags of cement to his personal use.

The development was exposed by ZimEye kust after mid day on Monday. The story which was obfuscated by the state media, revealed how cops from the Serious Fraud Squad pounced on the man.

Contacted for a comment, the Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyati said Gambe was whisked away on allegations of abuse of office.

He allegedly purchased 1 200 bags of cement for his personal use, using the ZCDC’s Lafarge account, said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.

All Systems Go, Zim Kicks Off Mass Loadshedding

Own Correspondent|Zimbabwe started implementing load-shedding on Monday, after the government announced it was facing critical power shortfalls and had to introduce rotational power cuts in order to “balance the power supply available and the demand”.

Power utility supplier the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission & Distribution Company (ZETDC) last week said it had been forced to cut power generation at its Kariba Dam power plant due to low water levels. The dam, on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, is only 34% full and cannot generate electricity at optimal capacity.

The ZETDC said in a statement it was also facing generation constraints at Hwange Power Station, and limited imports from Eskom in South Africa and from Mozambique.

“Please be advised that ordinarily, load-shedding will be within the morning and evening peak periods of 05:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 22:00 respectively,” the power distributor said Sunday.

“[However] the the durations may be longer in the event of increased power shortfall to avoid the collapse of the National Electric grid.”

Zimbabwe has two stages of load-shedding, compared to eight in South Africa.

Analysts say the impact of the power cuts will be significant to industry, which cannot easily turn to the use of generators amid limited availability of fuel.

Internet Based Recruitment For Nurses

Zimbabwe is to have an internet based recruitment system, it has been said.

TheDirector of Nursing Services in the Ministry of Health and Child Care Mrs Cynthia Chasokela, quoted by the state media, said the digital recruitment policy was the brainchild of the Health Ministry and Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT).

“The ministry will, starting with this September’s student nurse intake, introduce electronic selection for aspiring nurses countrywide in a new policy that was necessitated by a public outcry over the way recruiting processes were being held previously.

“We partnered Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) in coming up with the new system which will see people downloading forms from our website and filling in before they resend for consideration.

“The interviews will then be done by a panel of experts before successful candidates are advised through their e-mails. This is a positive way for the profession as we endeavour to curb corrupt practices and also moving along with modern trends in this ever diversifying profession,” said Mrs Chasokela.

She said all nursing schools countrywide will recruit students using that platform.

“Let’s say Marondera School of Nursing wants to recruit students, they will advise us and we flight the advert on our website for them.

“We are actually working with Econet Wireless Zimbabwe to have an EcoCash platform on which students pay their $10 interview fee before they come for the interviews. We will then advise the nursing school of successful candidates for enrolment.

“Every nursing school in the country will use this method and we want to urge the public to start using our digital platform as soon as we flight for this September intakes,” she added.

Mrs Chasokela said the revised entry requirements still stand while applicants must be aged between 17-and-a-half years and 30 years.

“Our revised entry requirements are standing as they are. That is five Ordinary Level subjects including Mathematics, English and a Science subject.

“Practical subjects are not included and the person must be aged between 17-and-a-half years to 30 years and we need certificates not results slips,” she said.

ZDF Queens Shine, Thrash Manyame Falcon Queens

netball

By Own Correspondent| ZDF Queens have maintained their five game unbeaten start to the Rainbow Netball League season with a comprehensive 45-38 win against arch rivals Manyame Falcon Queens.

On Saturday, the team hosted their fellow army counterparts in a rollercoaster of a match.

Falcon had a better start, scoring four goals before ZDF could convert their first goal.

However, Falcon needed everything to go right at Raylton Sports Club but they missed some golden opportunities to score and some midcourt blunders led them to a last quarter punishment by the home side.

ZDF’s Goal-Shooter Mercy Mukwadi’s last quarter sharp shooting exposed some lopsided match-ups.

ZDF coach Joel Sibanda was elated.

“The match was very tough. It was like a final game. The level of competition was just great.

“The tension was just high considering we are all from the same organisation. Even if you noticed we came here putting on the same uniform. We had to change.

“Another thing is we sometimes session together so we are a family but the job was to be done at the end of the day.

“From the word go until the final whistle it was a tight match.

“I give credit to my players, they never lost hope they did not give up. If they continue with that spirit we will go far,” Sibanda said.

Things didn’t go exactly to plan with the Falcon Queens scoring the first four goals but ZDF worked their way into the game.

ZDF are now standing on 10 points.

Sibanda went on to dedicate their victory to their star player Rejoice Dingizela, who tragically lost her son last week.

This was, however, one game which was always going to be difficult considering the circumstances.

But for ZDF Queens, it ended up feeling uplifting after they bravely fought to dismiss the Falcons much to the delight of their coach.

“We are dedicating this game to the late Romeo Junior Kapachika. As a family we were so saddened that one of our player lost her baby.

“Rejoice is one of the key player and we were worried if we were going to make it through this game.

“We tried to fight very hard to win so that we can have something to dedicate to him.”

The losing coach, Tapiwa Chirenda, who happened to be celebrating his birthday that same day was disappointed.

“I had wanted the win for my birthday but it was not to be.

“We started off well but eventually ZDF with their experience just capitalised on a few things whereas for us we are sort of rebuilding over again

“Today we started with three players who are not normally there in our starting line up for our past games, but we are happy that they were up to the task

“We led all the way to third quarter where we eventually succumbed due to a succession of bad decisions on court and such is a game, we win some and lose some.”-StateMedia

While anti-Chamisa Court Cases Are FastTracked, Mnangagwa Says “I’m Disappointed That Corruption Cases Aren’t Moving” | IS HE TELLING THE TRUTH?

By Farai D Hove | At a time when all court cases against his opponent (in the still to be produced Malaba judgement), Nelson Chamisa, are fast tracked, ZANU PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa has said he is “disappointed that corruption cases are not moving.”

Mnangagwa said this on Monday while addressing judges, lawyers, magistrates, ministers who were all guests at the commissioning of the new Labour Court in Harare.

Mnangagwa said: “I am disappointed that corruption cases are not moving.

“While we may be experiencing teething challenges, I implore all those who play a role in this mammoth task to remain steadfast, honest and upright in the execution of their duties.

“The success in this regard is imperative as it impacts on our quest to establish a corrupt free society, accelerate development and speedily improve the quality of life of our people.”

Chief Ndiweni Remains Defiant

Farai Dziva| Ntabazintuna Chief Nhlanhla Felix Ndiweni is unfazed by government threats, it has emerged.

The government has lambasted the traditional leader for reportedly calling on Western countries to impose more sanctions on Zimbabwe.

The outspoken chief has always been at loggerheads with the Harare administration over issues related to the perceived marginalisation of Matabeleland provinces as well as the 1980s genocide, also known as Gukurahundi whose victims were mainly of Ndebele ethnic origins.

Sources in the chief’s area have revealed he is ready to speak out his mind despite immense pressure on him to retract his comments.

We categorically state that we will remain solidly behind the Stewardship of Advocate Chamisa.

Our preparations for the Congress as a Province are at an advanced stage, all delegates are more than ready and keen to choose its new leadership under our able President Adv. Chamisa.

Gutu Vows To Take Chamisa “To The Cleaners”

Farai Dziva|A clearly bitter MDC T vice president Obert Gutu has sensationally claimed MDC A leaders are a “pathetic lot.”

“When they’re outmanoeuvred and outsmarted they always fall back into their default mode : accuse us of being a Zanu PF project. This pathetic lot! We will clobber them and relegate them exactly where they belong i.e. to the cleaners!” Gutu thundered.

He continued : The next few days are going to be very, very interesting indeed. Tamba tamba chidembo muskwe takabata. Soft Power vs Hard Power. Warumwa, Warumwa.”

“You don’t run with the hares and hunt with the wolves! Zimbabweans are not stupid! They know a dictator when they see one! If you don’t respect court orders and constitutionalism…. you’re dangerous! Povo yaramba zve illegitimacy!!

We will continue to talk about ILLEGITIMACY until the cows come back home! Court orders have to be respected if we are talking about the rule of law. Beware of dangerous charlatans who lampoon, denigrate and malign the integrity of our country,” claimed Gutu.

WARNING DISTURBING PICTURE: Chamisa Backer, Vimbai Tsvangirai In Horrific Accident

Barely days after publicly standing up for and backing MDC President Nelson Chamisa, the late Morgan Tsvangirai’s daughter, Vimbai, has been involved in a horrific accident.

Last week Saturday, Vimbai broke the darkness at her father’s memorial where she contradicted the family’s firstborn, Edwin who was found criticising Nelson Chamisa while also titling his own father by the firstname. But during the moment, Vimbai stood up to back Chamisa.

Party spokesperson Jacob Mafume confirmed the development and said Vimbai was involved in an accident near Kwekwe and she has been taken to a local hospital.

Said Mafume:

“Yes it is true. But I can not yet say much about the accident since I am on my way there. I can only be able to furnish you with details after I arrive where she is and get to know what really happened. But yes the accident happened near Kwekwe.”

Zimbabwe Back To Dampening Power Cuts In Just Three Years

Home work under candle light

Reuters|Zimbabwe’s state power utility imposed the worst rolling blackouts in three years on Monday, May 13, 2019, with households and industries including mines set to be without electricity for up to eight hours daily.

The country last experienced such serious blackouts in 2016 following a devastating drought.

But the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), citing reduced output at its largest hydro plant and ageing coal-fired generators, said power cuts would start on Monday and last up to eight hours during morning and evening peak periods.

Meanwhile, Isaac Kwesu, Chief Executive of Chamber of Mines, which groups Zimbabwe’s biggest mining companies said critical industries like mining should be spared from the black-outs, locally known as load shedding.

“Mining requires electricity for both operations and safety. It will be very costly to have production stoppages, that is why we will be engaging ZETDC to find ways to minimize any costly disruptions due to the electricity cuts,” Kwesu told Reuters.

The power cuts are bound to stoke, mounting public anger against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government as Zimbabweans grapple with an economic crisis that has seen shortages of U.S. dollars, fuel, food and medicines as well as soaring inflation that is eroding earnings and savings.

Many Zimbabweans say life is getting harder and that Mnangagwa is failing to deliver on pre-election promises last year to rebuild an economy shattered during Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule.

Mining accounted for more than two-thirds of Zimbabwe’s $4.8 billion in total export earnings last year and any power cuts in the sector will affect production and exports.

In the past, some of the big mines, including platinum and gold producers, have resorted to directly importing electricity from neighbouring countries like Mozambique and South Africa.

“The power shortfall is being managed through load shedding in order to balance the power supply available and the demand,” ZETDC said in a public notice.

Aside the power cuts, the country is also experiencing shortages of fuel, forcing motorists to queue for hours and the government has so far failed to deliver on previous promises to end the shortage.

The southern African nation, which is producing 969 MW daily against peak demand of 2,100 MW, is entering its peak winter power demand season, which will increase electricity consumption.

Energy and Power Development Minister Joram Gumbo was quoted by a local newspaper saying he would travel to Mozambique this week to try to agree an electricity supply deal with that country’s power utility Hydro Cahora Bassa.

Church Narrates How Walter Magaya Performed A Shock Miracle

Walter Magaya with the healed Tinashe Mutseyekwa

Media Statement By PHD Ministries|Tinashe healed of strange physical complication through the anointed touch of Prophet Dr W. Magaya

Tinashe Mutseyekwa developed a strange physical complication which affected his walking to the extent that he ended up failing to walk upright. According to Tinashe, he fell in love with a married woman and one day he visited the woman at her residential place and slept with her there, not knowing that the woman was married. After being intimate Tinashe saw a mobile phone on the table in the woman’s house and upon asking who the owner was, the woman refused to tell him about the owner.

Out of jealousy and anger, Tinashe took the mobile phone and went out. When he was at the exit gate, he was met by the husband who queried what he was doing at their [husband] home during such odd hours as it was in the evening. The man commanded him to get back inside and called his wife outside. Upon querying what Tinashe was doing, the wife denied knowledge of him and called him a thief. She claimed that Tinashe had got into the house through the window and stole a mobile phone. Having labeled him a thief, they shouted to their neighbours and immediately gathered and started beating Tinashe. After beating him, he was taken to the police and was later sent to Chikurubi Prison where he served 2 months.

Within 24 hours of being in prison, he started feeling strange abdominal pains which then worsened into complications that hindered his normal walking. He remained in that state until the day he left prisoned. During the days of his imprisonment, he was visited by Tilder Moyo [one of the local journalists and radio presenters] and interviewed him. The video of the interview went viral including on YouTube.

For 8 months Tinashe continued to walk in that difficult state until he came to the Arena of liberty today [12th May 2019] upon which he received the anointed touch of Prophet Dr W. Magaya and immediately got healed. He started walking upright and was further blessed with Water of Life and Anointing oil to administer when back at home in order to strengthen his body which had become disabled for 8 months. From that moment until now, Tinashe is now walking upright and normal like any other person, for God’s glory.

Towards the end of the service, Tildar Moyo finally arrived after having received thousands of calls from people summoning her to rush to PHD Ministries. She also confirmed the account of Tinashe as true.

We give all glory to God. Mbiri kunaJesu.

Fresh Details Emerge On Lupane State University Lecturer Suicide

By Own Correspondent- Shocking details of the circumstances behind the suicide of prominent academic and Lupane State University Centre for Continuing Education director Dr Ndabezinhle Ncube who died at his house in Manningdale suburb in Bulawayo on Friday last week have emerged.

A local publication revealed that Dr Ncube, who was also active in football as a match commissioner in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) allegedly hanged himself in one of the cottages at his house barely a few hours after his wife Evon Ncube approached the courts claiming he was emotionally abusing her by singing or playing music which was suicidal.

It then appears Dr Ncube couldn’t fathom the idea that his wife had dragged him to the Bulawayo Civil Court seeking a protection order against him, also claiming that he was cheating on her with several women.

In court papers in possession of this publication, Evon, who is employed as a lecturer at the United College of Education in Bulawayo claimed her husband was always saying hurtful words and sang songs that had painful meanings against her and the children.

“I am married to Ndabezinhle Ncube since 16 December 1991.There are two children born of the marriage and all have attained majority status. The respondent and I are still residing together in the same house but occupy different bedrooms since 2016. The respondent has become verbally and emotionally abusive towards me and the children.

“He often says hurtful words and sings songs that have painful meanings and insinuating that I am a harlot and that our children are not his. He has a tendency of singing or playing music which is suicidal.

“He has been seeing other women since 2014 and no longer hides it to an extent that he puts his phone on louder speaker in my presence and the children whenever he is communicating with them,” Evon’s application reads in part.

Evon further said her husband was no longer financially supporting the family.

She added: “He closes water when the children or me are bathing. He also no longer eats what the children and I cook. His way of communication has been through songs and talking alone but directing/ referring to any of us in the house.

“He once entered into my room and cut off my bags. I fear with his continued behaviour he may start being violent towards me and our children. I hereby pray for a protection order against him so that he may refrain from verbally and emotionally abusing me and the children.”

She also stated that her husband had on several occasions threatened to assault her.

Apparently, fearing the humiliation of a trial, Ncube sneaked out of the court leading the presiding magistrate Racheal Mukanga to grant an order in his absence compelling him not to verbally, physically and emotionally abuse his wife or threaten her in any way.

The magistrate also ordered him not to close water from the main switch when his wife was bathing. After the court session Evon is reported to have left Bulawayo for Harare to attend a workshop.

A bottle of Kontakil poison which was bought on the day in question was also found next to his lifeless body. Dr Ncube is also alleged to have left three suicide notes in which he was accusing his wife of cheating on him.

“She slept around in hotels years after marriage. Now she thinks the law is on her side, and indeed it is. Let her reap where she did not sow. I am gone. Enjoy my sweat with your relatives. Now the sister is coming here to finish off their ritual. These evil people should not come anywhere near my body,” reportedly read one of the suicide notes.-BMetro

Mvuma Man Scalded Over S_ex

By Own Correspondent- A Mvuma man will rue the day he asked for sex from a woman who in return scalded him with boiling water.

The woman, Mberikunashe Chipiwa(23), who resides at Carval Bar in Mvuma was dragged to court by Josphat Mukwavaya (35) following the incident.

She pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared before Mvuma magistrate Mr Tafadzwa Mhlanga and was released on $50 bail.

She told the court that she acted in self-defence as she thought the complainant wanted to rape her.

“I was defending myself because l thought he wanted to rape me. He mentioned that he wanted to sleep with me and he started walking towards me. I panicked thinking that he wanted to rape me that’s why l poured hot water on him,” she said.

Representing the State, prosecutor Michael Kazemba told the court that on April 17 at Carval Bar around 9pm, the accused and the complainant had a misunderstanding over mealies which the complainant had taken from the accused’s pot.

A heated argument ensued between the two and Mukwavaya accused Chipiwa of being sexually starved saying it was the reason why she was short tempered. He then advanced towards Chipiwa saying he wanted to help her relieve her sexual frustrations.

This did not go down well with the accused who took a pot of boiling water from the stove and emptied the contents on the complainant’s body.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Chipiwa’s arrest.-BMetro

Taxi Driver Soldiers’ Minister Scoffs At Chamisa’s Lawyer: “He’s Got No V11!”

Victor Matemadanda and Oppah Muchinguri

By Dorrothy Moyo| The “taxi driver brand” war veterans and Defence Minister, Victor Matemadanda has scoffed at Nelson Chamisa’s top lawyer, Thabani Mpofu.

Speaking following the latest challenge by Chamisa against Justice Edith Mushore’s High Court verdict, Matemadanda said, “Advocate Mpofu once promised the opposition leadership heaven on earth that he will provide v11 forms as evidence that Chamisa won the 2018 presidential elections but dismally failed to deliver at the end of the day.

“For Mpofu to claim that it will be a walk over is absurd and his sentiments are meant to hype and incite people for nothing, they did on the presidential contest and they failed and for them to think they will railroad the courts this time around is unfortunate,” he said.

Disgraced Buyanga Takes Own Girlfriend To Court

Frank Buyanga

The Controversial businessman Frank Buyanga who was slapped with a court order after allegedly “abducting” his own child has taken his ex-girlfriend to court after failing to comply with a court order which obliged her to give him their child’s passport whenever he is with him.

The matter was first exposed by ZimEye.com two weeks ago.

Chantelle Tatenda Muteswa, 31, appeared before Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko facing contempt of court charges.

The State asked magistrate Mateko to postpone the matter saying the docket was requested by the Prosecutor General.

The matter was deferred to June 6.

Allegations are that on January 11, the magistrates’ court ordered Muteswa to release the child’s passport to Buyanga whenever he had access to the child.

The court heard that on April 19, Muteswa sent the child to Buyanga’s house in the company of her maid, but did not release the passport as ordered by the court.

It is alleged that Buyanga was informed by his gardener that the child was now home, but without the passport, which prompted him to call Muteswa asking her about the passport, but she switched off her phone.

He then reported the case to the police. H Metro

Horror, Surprise As Same “Murderer” Turns Up For Funeral

There was drama mixed with horror when the same murder suspect suddenly turned up for his victim’s funeral.

Constable Moses Nigel Jarazi, 27, was arrested on Saturday at Matapi where he was in hiding following the heinous act where he is suspected to have raped and murdered a 19-year-old college student Nyasha who is a daughter to his wife Regina Mhondiwa.

He was lambasted by mourners including college students when he arrived for indications led by police carrying out their investigations.

The girl’s mother Mhondiwa shouted on top of her voice asking Jarazi why he had decided to abuse and kill her daughter.

“Wakaurayireiko mwana wangu? Nyasha aitaura nemunhu here nhaiii wakaurayireiko mwana wangu,” Mhondiwa was heard yelling as mourners wrestled with police to get close to Jarazi who was in leg irons.

Jarazi told the investigating officers how he dragged Nyasha from the kitchen into his bedroom where he raped her once before murdering her using a pair of scissors.

Impeccable sources told H-Metro that Cst Jarazi sought refuge at a shebeen in Mbare after killing Nyasha.

“Cst Jarazi was known in Mbare as a pimp who would bring beautiful ladies to drug dealers for sexual abuse,” said the source.

“One of the drug dealers is the one who blew a whistle to police after he felt sorry for the murdered student leading to his arrest.

“Kubasa akanga asisaende achinakirwa nemari yemusvuto wainzwa but killing an innocent soul was too extreme that no one would accommodate such a criminal.

“He was also wanted for aggravated indecent assault because of his shenanigans,” added the source.

Close relatives followed proceedings in shock as he narrated how he raped and killed Nyasha.

Neighbours failed to rescue Nyasha when she cried during the heinous act and Cst Jarazi fled from the scene after the neighbours forced the door open and found Nyasha soaked in a pool of blood.

The incident happened during the day on Friday while Mhondiwa was at work.

Among the mourners was Nyasha’s father who nearly caused a scene fuming over the cold-blooded murder, demanding a change of mourning place arguing that it was not proper for mourners to meet at the murder scene.

The issue was however resolved with the two camps agreeing to bury Nyasha peacefully.

Police through its spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi condemned Jarazi for the heinous act.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to express their condolence to the bereaved family and as police we strongly condemn the act and investigations have since started following the arrest of Constable Jarazi,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.

“Cst Jarazi was arrested by police in Matapi where he was hiding and he will appear in court soon after the completion of investigations being carried out.

“The suspect was facing a case of aggravated indecent assault when the heinous act happened and police will leave no stone unturned in making sure justice prevails,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi. – H Metro

High Court Ruling Callous And Biased -MDC

Farai Dziva| MDC A Midlands Province has described the High Court ruling on the party presidency as “callous and biased.”

See Midlands Provincial secretary for Information and Publicity, Takavafira Zhou’s statement below:

Noting the 8th of May High Court ruling by Justice Edith Mushore as callous, a tissue of misrepresentation and a monument of Zimbabwean injustice.

Guided by institutional memory on the election of leaders in MDC since its formation in 1999, and in other political parties nationally, regionally, continental and globally.

Aware that our late icon and father of democracy in Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai, used the powers vested in him by the 2014 National Congress to Appoint Engineer Mudzuri and Advocate Nelson Chamisa as Vice Presidents.

Realising that before his death, our iconic leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, mooted the broad MDC Alliance, and confided in leaders like Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti to support Chamisa in the pursuit of revitalising the spirit of unity in MDC as in 1999.

Aware that Thokozani Khupe had become a renegade, prejudiced and narrow-minded leader even before the death of Tsvangirai.

Cognisant of the fact that it was the National Council, as the highest decision making body in between Congress, that appointed Adv Nelson Chamisa as acting President and finally as President until our National Congress, which Congress is pencilled for 24 to 26 May 2019.

Aware that in pursuit of unity after the death of Tsvangirai, President Chamisa condemned violence in MDC and sent emissaries to the then Vice President Khupe to no avail.
Noting that President Chamisa has fit squarely into the shoes of our late iconic leader, Tsvangirai, carrying the struggle of the people; the struggle for food and jobs; peace; dignity, decency and democracy; equal distribution of resources; and justice, transparency and equality of all Zimbabweans.

Knowing that he has continued to carry the explicit democratic agenda of democratising the state through a peaceful transition of the ballot box as opposed to the bullet and in the process increased the democratic dividend votes to 2.6 million.

Convinced that the MDC is on course in its preparation of a National Congress in Gweru from 24th to 26th May 2019.

Ready to host that National Congress as Midlands Province, comprising 28 districts.

We now therefore, unreservedly, unswervingly, unwaveringly, unshakably, trustily, solidly, steadily, unflinchingly, valiantly and gallantly declare our loyalty and support to our dynamic, enthusiastic, considerate and forward looking President, Nelson Chamisa.
We declare as Midlands Province, without any rancor or equivocation that never in history have courts given political parties their leaders.
At any rate Nelson Chamisa is President of the MDC and not MDC-T.

While the national leadership focus on how best to respond to the courts we want to make it clear that Khupe has lost any fibre to be our President. She has conducted her own Congress with her own supporters and abandoned us.
We stand where we stood under Tsvangirai and will continue to stand there under Chamisa. No amount of legal ruling can change this reality. No legal ruling or Zanu PF flirtation or romance with any MDC discarded residue can stop an idea whose time is up.
Adv. Chamisa is our best foot forward, and as Midlands Province will guard jealously such best foot.

The Three Essential Layers For The MDC: Business Capital, Intellectual Capital And Activism

By Tererayi Rushwaya|I have in the past adumbrated several ideas which I think would help the MDC control the political discourse in the country and subsequently put Zanu PF on the back foot.

Yep, I hollered about the importance of an MDC 24 hr TV station and a radio station to boot.

But all these aspirations require the MDC to be a functional political party that attracts the best talent in the country and that is booming with ideas. Most importantly, though, the MDC needs a sustainable business model if they are to achieve…well, anything, really. Yes indeed, a political party needs a reliable and regular revenue stream in order to action the things it espouses.

I mean, isn’t it galling that churches – some of which are run by bible bashing spivs -are able to raise millions of dollars per month and even have their own television channels yet the MDC, a party that seeks to bring tangible political and economic change that will benefit a multitude of millions of Zimbabweans isn’t able to do so? It really grinds my gears. I really think it’s time be serious, no more faffing around.

So I’m proposing that the MDC needs to be run like a functional business, with loads of assets and capital if it is to be an effective force in Zimbabwe. If the MDC is to be run like a business, what will be their product – what will they be selling to the public? Well, with the risk of sounding cheesy, I’d say the MDC’s product is hope; it’s effective hope of political change in Zimbabwe.

Effective hope is proactive, even in religion hope is not about praying to God for something and then sitting back waiting for Him to deliver – you pray and make moves towards your goal. Effective hope is about having a road map to a final destination and being able to make visible gains along the way.

For the MDC, the final destination is getting into power so that they can turn the economy around and then improve lives of the downtrodden Zimbabweans. Right now the MDC need to have a practicable road map that has visible gains along the way to the final destination. What are these visible gains?

To me these visible gains need to be in business capital, intellectual capital (a newspaper, 24 hr TV and radio channel) and activism. So far there is not much wrong with the activism because Chamisa is drawing crowds of passionate supporters everywhere he goes.

But there is a lot that needs to be done when it comes to capital. Business capital It goes without saying that the party needs regular revenue coming in every month. Money is the foundation on which the party’s aspirations can only be built.

Maybe it’s time the party starts monthly subscriptions from all party members. But people will not want to part with their money if the party is pissing about and achieving nothing. So in return, the party should give people value for money and this they can do by building intellectual capital which gives members effective hope.

I even propose that the MDC could invest some of the money in honest and profitable businesses. They could also use some of this money for humanitarian projects in the rural areas. The MDC needs to become an institution!! Intellectual Capital I have written extensively about intellectual capital, I’m damn near getting varicose veins just waiting for it to happen for the MDC.

In this day and age of mass communication and technology you need intellectual capital to control the political discourse. Intellectual capital is the currency of politics in an era of 24 hr mass communication. If you don’t have the magic combo of a newspaper, a radio station and a 24 hr television channel that conveys your political message to the masses you will never control the political discourse.

The awesome thing about this intellectual capital is it’s ubiquity, it’s non stop, it’s everywhere and so the members who would be subscribing every month will see they money achieving something.

In essence, the MDC needs to have at least three layers, the business (i.e revenue streams + assets), intellectual capital (24 hr mass media presence -radio + TV channel), activism (street pounding and humanitarian projects). Imagine if 300 000 MDC supporters paid $1 every month, this revenue would make the party an effective force, an institution! The time is now! No more faffing around.

“We Are Not Moved By Court Ruling”

Gvt Confronts Chief Ndiweni

The government has warned controversial Ntabazinduna Chief Nhlanhla Felix Ndiweni over his “treachery” in calling for additional sanctions to be imposed on the country’s ruling elite.

In a statement, the Permanent Secretary for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Ndavaningi Nick Mangwana said that the government is watching the chief closely and will seek to enact legislation to deal with “traitors”. Said Mangwana:

Chiefs should be spearheading development in their communities and not embracing poverty and using it as a political tool against the people of Zimbabwe.

We expected Chief Ndiweni to know this. Alas, he is back in familiar territory as it will also be recalled that his family has a history of collaborating with the enemy and waging this anti-people war from as far back as the liberation struggle.

… May we remind Chief Felix Ndiweni that Government and the people of Zimbabwe are watching and watching closely as he goes on with his politics that are clearly not guided by the national and community interests but inspired by some dubious narrow, parochial interests.

Chief Ndiweni is perceived to be an opponent of the ruling ZANU PF party, as he has spoken against the eviction of white farmers in Matabeleland and also for being vocal against Gukurahundi.

Unlike a certain traditional leader from Masvingo province who has spoken openly in support of the ruling party, Chief Ndiweni has been fearless in speaking out his mind.State media

Chief Ndiweni Unfazed By Gvt Threats

You Are Not God, Chamisa Tells Mnangagwa

Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition MDC has said that president Mnangagwa will not succeed in destabilising the MDC because he is not God.

Officially opening the MDC Midlands caucus in Gweru on Friday, Chamisa claimed that ZANU-PF was behind the recent High Court ruling that nullified his leadership of the MDC. Chamisa said:
” Zanu PF is panicking … now they are trying to stop our congress. They will not have everything go their way. ED (President Mnangagwa) is not God. He cannot have all his wishes succeed.

Look at the economy, it is giving him problems. He is failing to deal even with sewerage blockages in towns.
Chamisa assured party members that the elective congress slotted for the 24th to the 26th of May will go on as planned. He also claimed that Zanu PF was diverting the focus of the masses from teething economic issues.

He also warned that beyond the congress, there will be a witch-hunting exercise meant to remove elements he said were working with ZANU PF.

These bold claims come at a time when both Douglas Mwonzora, the current MDC secretary-general, and deputy president Elias Mudzuri, have been accused of working with Zanu PF.

Meanwhile, whilst presenting his manifesto during the caucus, Mwonzora pledged his loyalty to the party and to Chamisa. He also narrated his experience and contribution to the party.Newsday

Dembare Revival Continues

Farai Dziva| Popular Harare giants Dynamos’ resurgence under Tonderai Ndiraya continues.

The Glamour Boys dismissed Yadah FC 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Glamour Boys had a slow start to the season, losing 3 games on the trot, but bliss seems to be returning to the blue side of the capital after Junior Selemami’s solitary strike in the second half propelled them to victory.

The game started at a frantic pace with Yadah dominating early exchanges, forcing three corner-kicks in quick succession.

Dembare’s first decent opportunity, however, came in form of a set piece on the quarter hour, with Tawanda Muringani curling a free kick in the box, but Munyaradzi Mawadze could not connect it.

Ndiraya’s charges, who were starting to creep back into the game continued to create more chances, but could not find the target. Muringani was even denied by the woodwork from a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

Nonetheless, Dembare broke the deadlock early in the second period with Junior Selamani finding the opener.

Klopp Remains Optimistic Despite Losing Title Race

Farai Dziva|Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp says finishing second to Manchester City was “only the first step” and will give everything again next season.

The Reds had a strong end to the campaign, posting nine consecutive victories and amassed 97 points, but fell one short of City who retained the title.

The points tally is the highest ever for any runner-up in any of Europe’s top five leagues.

Speaking at a post-match presser, Klopp said: ” We will go again. This team tried it for the first time, and I really think they did quite impressively to try the first time. And, on this road, to qualify for the Champions League final is pretty special.

“This team is one of the best that ever played for Liverpool, 100 per cent. But we play in a league with other very good teams, that’s what we have to accept and we do accept, no problem. We will go again, 100 per cent. But give me at least a few hours to come over that today.”

Klopp added that the club will keep on trying and remain patient to lift the league despite waiting for 30-years for that to happen.

“If you see whatever happens to you in life as the only chance you ever had, I feel a bit for you, to be honest. There’s a lot to come, a lot of years and it’s all about you, what you do with it – and that’s what we do with it.

“People will tell us now it’s 30 years [since Liverpool won the league] but they have bigger problems, to be honest, all the people who will say that.”

“Bitter” Gutu Claims MDC A Leaders Are A “Pathetic Lot Falsely Accusing Us Of Being Zanu PF”

“Hatidzore tsvimbo nekuti gudo rabata kumeso! Povo yaramba zvemadhisinyongoro! Povo yaramba zvema ILLEGITIMATE power grabbers! Musanyeberwa…zizi harina nyanga!!”

Rule Of Law, Good Governance Are Second Nature To Us- Chamisa

Farai Dziva|MDC A president Nelson Chamisa has said good governance and rule of law are the “second nature” of the party.

Chamisa remains unfazed in spite of the hullabaloo emanating from the controversial High Court ruling.

“I’m in Bulawayo today for the provincial caucus debates.Yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed the Mat north provincial debate in Lupane. The beauty of internal democracy and a festival of ideas is exceptional. The party of excellence is a party of ideas.Grassroots support is plenty plus!”

“Good governance and rule of law are second nature to us.Constitutionalism matters to us in the MDC.We follow both the party and national constitutions in all our critical resolutions and steps. All our decisions were and are fully backed by the provisions in the party constitution,” argued Chamisa.

“Khupe Does Not Even Know The MDC Logo”

MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe

Farai Dziva|Hard-hitting social media analyst has described Thokozani Khupe as a “desperate and hopeless political misfit.”

See Taruvinga’s statement below:
By mere looking at it, two things make Khupe’ s letter an uninspiring joke:

1. The logo used isnt the MDC logo
2. The English used at the end (leave on) can never come from the president’s office. This actually is an assault on Dr. Morgan Tsvangirai’s legacy.

It baffles many that a person who was VP for more than two 5 year terms doesn’t even know the actual logo of the party.

The war she has embarked on will only leave her with permanent bruises. She is fighting a whooping 2.6 million men and women. The people always win.

Grace Mugabe In Fresh Assault Charges Over Mugabe “Gift” To Housekeeper

By Own Correspondent| Former first lady Dr Grace Mugabe, allegedly assaulted a housekeeper at her Blue Roof mansion for accepting a cash gift as a wedding present from former president Robert Mugabe.

Shupikai Chiroodza through her lawyers Mtetwa and Nyambirai now seeks to be reinstated to her old job and enjoy full benefits that would have accrued to her from the time she was “unlawfully” dismissed in May 2017.

She was employed by the Civil Service Commission in 2008 in the Office of the President and Cabinet under the State Residences department, as a housekeeper at State House.

Her application reveals that she was clobbered by the former first lady at Mugabe’s residence.

She said:

Upon arrival at my work station at about 1700hrs on 13th March 2017, I saw the then first lady waiting for me, when I reached the main door of the house where she was standing she started shouting at me and seized me by the neck and pulled me inside the house and locked the door.

She started beating me with clenched fists shouting, “unoda kuzviita ani pano? (who do you think you are here?) you are milking my husband behind my back’.

I did not utter a word as I was terrified. She removed her shoes and continued assaulting me with it and blood started gushing out of my forehead, mouth and nose. The assault continued for about 20 minutes.

She added that the assault only stopped when some visitors arrived. Grace then threatened to kill her if she disclosed the assault.-TheZimbabweIndependent

Bargainers Flooded Gushungo Farm To Buy Mugabe Rubble

Bargain hunters yesterday morning thronged former president Robert Mugabe’s dairy farm to buy equipment and other farming implements at a private auction.

Gushungo Holdings’ dairy enterprise, trading as Alpha and Omega, is on a recapitalisation drive, according to its human resources manager Farai Jemwa.

“We are not shutting down, but simply clearing out old equipment such as tractors and other junk so that we are able to do our job properly. There is a lot of junk around here, hence this auction,” said Jemwa as he showed TimesLIVE new tractors parked outside a shed.

Buyers in their hundreds were looming outside the farm before the auction could go ahead. Bidding for the property was pegged at US$2 000 or RTGS $5 000 for entry cards.

An employee at the farm said selling the equipment was the best option since repairing it had become costly because most of it had become obsolete.

While Mugabe’s Gushungo Holdings is a private company, Ricky Mukonza, a political analyst, said there was a perception that the wealth owned by Mugabe and many other current and former Zanu PF politicians was ill-gotten.

Mukonza pointed out that during Mugabe’s era there was rampant abuse of public resources for private gain, which would justify the general perception that what may appear to be their private property in actual fact belonged to the public.

“This conflation between private assets of politicians in positions of power is a cause for concern. What could be a solution going forward is for public officials and politicians to declare their privately-owned assets for accountability purposes,” he said.

Maxwell Saungweme, a development analyst, said whatever operational problems were bedevilling Mugabe’s company proved that black empowerment anchored on abuse of political power, violation of property rights, theft and plunder was not sustainable, especially when entrepreneurship skills were not developed or imparted.

“It is a typical case of a business empire built on a mirage of political power fizzling out and fading when political power departs. It’s now clear who was sustaining and bankrolling that business venture — the taxpayer,” said Saungweme.

Khupe Will Never Take Over MDC: Chamisa

MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has vowed that his rival Thokozani Khupe will not be allowed to take over leadership of the party despite the High Court declaring his elevation null and void.

Justice Edith Mushore last week ruled that the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai violated the party’s constitution after he appointed Chamisa and Ellias Mudzuri as his deputies in 2017.

Chamisa used the appointment to outsmart both Khupe and Mudzuri to take control of the party.

Khupe yesterday declared that she was preparing to take over from Chamisa and lead the party to an extraordinary congress as ordered by the court.

However, a defiant Chamisa told party structures in Gweru on Friday that the MDC’s congress at the end of the month would seal Khupe’s fate.

“We went to elections as the MDC Alliance,” he said. “Khupe went to elections with her party MDC Thokozani (MDC-T).

“It is unthinkable that she can now come to our party to take it over.

“A man from next door cannot come to your house and take over your wife and start eating and staying inside.

“So, Khupe is our sister, she can come to Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House (MDC headquarters) , but only as a visitor.

“Her fate in MDC is on our agenda at the congress. That is where it will be decided, then we part ways formally.”

Khupe said she had already met MDC secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora to discuss the court ruling and was eager to talk to Chamisa on the way forward.

Chamisa accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government of interfering in the party’s internal processes.

He said after the congress set for May 23 and 24, the party would step up pressure on the government and force Mnangagwa to negotiate with the MDC to solve the country’s economic and political crisis.

“Chamisa Is Mature And Has Intellect”: Matabeleland Chiefs

By Own Correspondent| Opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa last Thursday received a huge boost after two traditional chiefs from Matabeleland threw support behind him saying Zimbabwe must “do away with old school politics”.

Traditional leaders have in the past faced accusations of being an appendage of Zanu PF with Chiefs Council president Fortune Charumbira often in the forefront in openly supporting the ruling party.

Charumbira at the Zanu PF conference held in Esigodini, Matabeleland South in December said chiefs belonged to Zanu PF.

On Thursday, Chamisa, alongside his deputy Morgan Komichi and chairperson Tabitha Khumalo met representatives of Matabeleland Chiefs led by outspoken Felix Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni (Ntabazinduna) and Vezi Maduna (Filabusi) at the party offices in the capital.

Khumalo and Ndiweni on Friday confirmed the meeting, with the latter adding that Matabeleland chiefs’ wanted to appraise themselves on Chamisa’s views on how he wanted to move the country forward, should he be in power, among other issues.

“Chamisa shows maturity because he has intellect, he has youthfulness behind him and can accept ideas very quickly and so the meeting was much more receptive.

“We need something new, fresh that has not been tried and not done before,” Ndiweni said in an interview.

“The other pool of politicians around is much older than him and in many instances is stuck in their positions; it is difficult sometimes to teach someone who is old new tricks.

“What I am talking about is that we need a mind that can move very quickly, but what is really clear that old school politics will not fix Zimbabwe.”

Khumalo was, however, non-committal about disclosing more details on what was discussed in the closed door meeting.

Ndiweni and Maduna have been very vocal against government, particularly on the Gukurahundi massacres that killed an estimated 20 000 people in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces.

War Veterans Besiege Zanu PF Offices

Zanu PF offices at Mutoko centre were last week encircled by a group of angry war veterans who were protesting against local party leadership for sowing discord. NewsDay reports that the former liberation fighters brought a new padlock and locked doors in a bid to prevent party officials from gaining access. The offices were later re-opened on the same day following the intervention of top party leaders who on Wednesday sent a delegation to resolve the impasse.

Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial secretary for administration Kudzai Majuru confirmed the report but could not disclose more details.

A ZANU PF source who spoke to the NewsDay said:

Last week, a group of war veterans besieged the party offices and locked the main entrance, accusing local party leaders of bringing discord within the party as well as running parallel structures. The war veterans also accused some Zanu PF leaders in Mutoko of harassing the district administrator and other civil servants.

The war veterans had to re-open the offices following the intervention of party bigwigs at a no-holds barred meeting on Thursday. The outcome of the meeting and recommendations will be sent to provincial chairperson (Joel Biggie) Matiza. A lot is needed to be done in Mutoko for Zanu PF is in shambles.

Soldier Nabbed For Smuggled South African Vehicle

By Own Correspondent- Beitbridge police are holding a member of the Zimbabwe National Army in connection with the smuggling of a South African motor vehicle worth R200 000.

The car, which was reportedly smuggled into the country through an unofficial crossing point near Beitbridge was later sold in Bulawayo.

The soldier, identified as Nobert Muringo (36) attached to the 1 Independent Company at Beitbridge, is suspected to have connived with three other suspects identified as Shame, Carly and Newzie in the alleged crime.

The car has since been recovered.

According to information possessed by Southern Eye, Marshal Siziba (23) of Beitbridge Hospital Nurses Quarters was driving the smuggled car when it had a puncture at Chamnanga village.

When he was attending to the puncture, Shame, Carly and Newzie approached him and demanded payment to conceal the smuggling of the car and Siziba paid US$700.

The three later demanded the keys of the vehicle, a Toyota Rav 4 registration number HR58DZ GP and drove it away.

Siziba reported the case to Beitbridge police whose investigations led to the recovery of the car and arrest of the suspects who later linked Muringo to the crime.

Zuva Awarded International ISO Certifications

By Own Correspondent- Zuva Petroleum has been awarded three International Standards Organisation certifications from the British Standards Institution (BSI), namely the Quality Management Systems, Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety Management.

As a result, Zuva Petroleum becomes the only company in Zimbabwe’s fuel sector to do so.

The company’s chief executive Bethwell Gumbo said:

The achievement of quality standards in administrative procedures clearly demonstrates our willingness to establish and operate effective, efficient and transparent systems.

It recognises that in seeking to achieve the highest standards we are prepared to open our systems to independent scrutiny and evaluation and to adapt to best practices.

The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Joram Gumbo said that is is the government’s desire that all local companies attain international standards.

He said:

My ministry is proud to see Zimbabwean companies achieving international standards. This is what we yearn for as government.

It is the government’s desire to see all Zimbabwean companies, not just energy companies, producing goods and services that meet international standards in order to be competitive on the global market.

Chicken Hut Expands, Opens Gweru Branch

By Own Correspondent- Chicken Hut, a Portuguese fastfood outlet has opened a new branch in Gweru, Midlands province.

The development comes after the outlet injected close to RTGS$500 000 into the new branch.

Speaking during the official opening of the new outlet at Megawatt Shopping Centre on Friday, Chicken Hut spokesperson Miss Tryphina Ndlovu said the new branch created employment for more than 20 people.

“As chicken hut we are glad that we have finally opened our doors in Gweru after injecting close to half a million dollars for this project. It’s a dream come true for us. The project has created employment opportunities for 22 people who are all from Gweru,” she said.

Miss Ndlovu said as part of ploughing back to the community, the company will pay fees for 10 Midlands State University students.

She said the new branch will buy most of its requirements from farmers in the Midlands province in order to promote local farmers.

“We are not only opening an outlet in Gweru but we are also here to provide business opportunities. We will buy all our requirements such as chicken, potatoes, burger patties and rolls from farmers and business people in Gweru and Midlands province. We want to empower and uplift local communities,” she said.

Miss Ndlovu said plans were underway to open more branches across the country before the end of the year.

“This is our fourth outlet including the one in Kwekwe, Avondale and Joina City. By end of year, we will be having a total of 10 branches in the country. We are targeting Victoria Falls, Beitbridge, Marondera, Mutare, Kariba and Bulawayo and all those outlets will be opened at Puma garages as we have an agreement with the service station,” she said.

Through a partnership with CG Msipha Trust Fund, Chicken Hut also donated a wheel chair to a disabled child from Zvishavane.-StateMedia

Cottco Moots Starting Own Commercial Farms

By Own Correspondent- The Cotton Company of Zimbabwe intends to start developing own commercial farms, targeting at least 100 000 hectares across the country to anchor production and support cotton value chains, managing director Pious Manamike said.

Currently, Cottco is administering Government’s multi-million dollar inputs programme meant to support vulnerable households.

The programme has been running for the past three seasons and has resuscitated the cotton industry after boosting output from a record low of 28 000 tonnes in 2015 — the lowest in nearly two decades — to 142 000 tonnes last year.

Nearly 400 000 households are currently benefiting from the inputs support programme with each farmer getting planting seed, fertilisers and chemicals among others.

The Government intervened when it became apparent that the industry was heading for collapse and this was partly due to migration of farmers to cash crops like tobacco.

The exit of private companies such as Cargill, which cited persistent losses largely resulting from poor recoveries of invested funds also resulted in production taking a steep decline.

Cottco has already identified land for the new project, which will be largely under irrigation.

“In this regard we are cropping up large tracts of virgin land in Mashonaland Central, Kanyemba area (along the Zambezi Valley), Masvingo, and also large tracts of land in Matabeleland North in Binga area,” he said.

“We are looking to get a minimum of 100 000ha that should be irrigated and that should be able to anchor production to support the value chain within the cotton to clothing sector.”

The latest development is likely to boost the cotton industry, which of late has attracted strong interest from potential investors.

With proper regulation of the industry, analysts believe private participation could be critical to boost current production levels.

Speaking at a Cottco stakeholders meeting in Sanyati in Mashonaland West Province on Tuesday, Cotton Producers and Marketers Association chairman Mr Steward Mubonderi told farmers that the revival of the cotton industry was critical as it would help support the entire cotton value chains, including the textile industry.

Mr Mubonderi noted that cotton farming was “a low hanging fruit” with potential to generate the much needed foreign currency. Last year, Zimbabwe exported ginned cotton, which at some point was referred to as the white gold, worth nearly US$90 million.

“Government needs foreign currency and cotton will bring in the much desired foreign currency. The Government also wants to open companies like David Whitehead, Kadoma Textiles and others with potential of generating hundreds of thousands of jobs,” he said.

Speaking at the same function, Cottco agronomist Mr Collin Nyawenze explained how the Presidential Scheme resulted in the resuscitation of cotton production in Sanyati.

“From 2016 backwards, Sanyati as a business unit was closed,” he said. “We were left with three business units in Chiredzi, Muzarabani and Gokwe. In 2017 we discovered that Sanyati was rising and we decided to make it a business unit on its own.

“In 2018, of the 127 000 tonnes bought by Cottco, 27 000 tonnes were from Sanyati. This justifies the opening of Sanyati as an independent business unit for Cottco.”

Cottco held similar stakeholder meetings in Gokwe and Muzarabani ahead of the 2019 marketing season. The validation exercise to determine projected output is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, farmers have implored Government to honour their promise and pay part of their proceeds in foreign currency to cushion them from erosion of RTGS dollars values.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe stipulated that cotton farmers will be paid 50 percent of their proceeds in foreign currency while the remainder will be paid in RTGS dollars.

“We look forward to Cottco to give us a stable US dollar price,” Sanyati farmer Onias Mayavo said. The Government pegged the price of cotton at $1,95 per kg, up from 47c last year.-StateMedia

Robert Gumbura’s “Jail Break” Trial To Proceed

By Own Correspondent- The trial of jailed RMG Independent End Time Message leader Robert Martin Gumbura and his six accomplices on charges of attempting to escape from prison will proceed after an application by the legal counsel, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, for its postponement by a week was dismissed.

Mr Madhuku had informed the court that the postponement was to enable his clients to file for a review at the High Court of a judgment by the lower court dismissing their application for discharge at the close of the State case recently.

Gumbura, Blessing Chauke (29), Lucky Mhungu (42), Taurai Dodzo (51), Thomas Chacha (41), Elijah Vhumbunu (42), and Lucky Matambanadzo (43 are facing charges of attempting to escape from lawful custody, incitement in aggravating circumstances or alternatively conspiracy in aggravating circumstances for malicious damage to property.

For the State, Mr Michael Reza had opposed the application. He told the court that he sympathised with Mr Madhuku because he worked on instructions from his clients.

“There is no order to stay these proceedings before the court and nothing can stop Mr Madhuku from making the application for review of the judgment or for stay of proceedings at the High Court.

“The State is therefore making an application that we proceed with the defence case,” he said.

Harare magistrate Mr Francis Mapfumo dismissed Mr Madhuku’s application saying the accused persons should have made an urgent chamber application for stay of proceedings at the High Court.

He said there was nothing before him, therefore the application was dismissed.

It is alleged that during the morning of February 13, 2015 in B Hall, Gumbura allegedly incited other inmates to protest over the quality of food they were being served.

Chauke, Matambanadzo, Mhungu, Dodzo, Chacha, Vhumbunu, and three other inmates — who are now deceased — allegedly also influenced inmates to reject the porridge they were served, which did not have sugar, to aid their escape.

This resulted in prisoners vandalising property estimated at $500 000. -StateMedia

Mangoma, Zesa Executives Trial In False Start, As Prosecutor Falls Sick

By Own Correspondent- The trial of former Minister of Energy and Power Development Elton Mangoma, Zesa chief executive Joshua Chifamba and managing director of Zesa Enterprises Tererai Mutasa, failed to kickstart after it emerged that the state prosecutor Zivanai Macharaga was sick.

The trio, are facing charges of criminal abuse of office after they allegedly entered into a technology transfer partnership with a South Korean company, Techpro Company Limited, for the manufacturing of switchgears without due process.

They however, all pleaded not guilty to the charges being leveled against them.

Mr Brain Vito, who stood in for Mr Macharaga, told the court that he was seeking a postponement of the matter because his colleague was not in attendance as a result of illness.

Harare magistrate Mr Francis Mapfumo deferred the matter to May 22 and 23.

Allegations are that the trio allegedly entered into a technology transfer partnership with Techpro Company Limited for the manufacture of switchgears without due process.

Competitive bidding process
Five years down the line, Techpro failed to execute the project afte receiving an initial payment of $850 000.

The State is alleging that this happened in 2010 when Choi Young Jin of Techpro met Mangoma at his offices in Harare.

They signed a technology transfer partnership between Zesa Enterprises and Techpro for the manufacture of the switch- gears.

Mangoma allegedly instructed Mutasa to liaise with Techpro with a view of establishing the partnership.

The court heard that Mutasa wrote to the State Procurement Board seeking advice on the procedures to be followed in such partner- ships.

He was advised to proceed with Section 49 of the repealed Procurement Regulations Act Chapter 22:14.

Mutasa was further advised to seek assistance from State Enterprises Restructuring Agency (SERA) on how to proceed.

SERA advised Mutasa to prepare a memorandum for Mangoma to submit to Inter-Ministerial Committee on Commercialisation and Privatisation of Parastatals (IMCCP) recommending the identification of a technical partner for the technological transfer through a competitive bidding process.

On receiving the proposal and bid documents for tender, Chifamba and Mangoma allegedly connived to bypass the approval by IMCCP and the competitive bidding process and favoured Techpro Company. Limited.-StateMedia

Security Guard Strangles Girlfriend To Death Over A Text Message

By Own Correspondent- A security guard from Bulawayo is reportedly on the run after killing his girlfriend over a text message.

Absolom Ndlovu who is employed by the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) strangled his girlfriend Vonai Mhoya to death on Saturday night over a misunderstanding of a text message.

The guard left a detailed note in which he outlined his reasons for the murder and threatened to also kill the victim’s mother.

The victim’s mother alleged that she became concerned after her daughter was not picking up her phone calls well after 10 am.

She went to the couple’s home but found all the doors and windows locked. However, she managed to open the door as she knew where the keys were hidden, only to discover the lifeless body of her daughter.

Part of the note Absolom left at the crime scene reads.

Nanso isiphetho sesiwule lonaLinda uyalandela. Lisale kuhle mawule afuze unina yimi elimzondayo elifuna imali yakhe. (This is the end result of prostitution and Linda’s mother is next. Farewell, you prostitutes who are like your mother. I’m the one you hate, whose money you are after). ”

Shrewd Businessmen Invade Pharmaceutical Industry

By Own Correspondent- The pharmaceutical sector in Zimbabwe has been besieged by shrewd business people without medical background who have seen the industry as an Eldorado to mine super profits at the expense of national health.

Following last week’s expose that the sector was largely controlled by a cartel of agents, with exclusive dealership agreements for critical medicines from particular manufacturers, investigations by The Herald also revealed that only two of the top five wholesalers have a medical background.

The rest are non-pharmacists and have no medical experience or qualifications but are merely businesspersons who have seen an opportunity to make money in this loosely regulated industry.

This has also seen even those running retail pharmacies enticing recent pharmaceutical graduates into fronting their business empires to enable them get operating licences.

“Most of the people behind this wholesaling business are simply business people who have found an opportunity of making money. This is why they find it easy to charge exorbitant prices because they have no ethical considerations to worry about. All they want is money,” said a pharmacist who spoke to The Herald on condition of anonymity.

They said the same situation is obtaining in the retail sector, where operating conditions stipulate that 51 percent shareholding must be held by a pharmacist.

“What they are simply doing is that they lure some of these recent graduates to take up 51 percent ownership but in essence the business persons are the ones that would be calling the shots. This shows that the sector has been besieged by greedy and selfish people who were not trained to serve but to take advantage of people’s conditions,” added the source.

These claims were corroborated by another source who called The Herald following the publication of the first story last week.

The source, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that he used to buy Timolol — a medication for the eyes — for RTGS$12 but was recently charged US$7 by a local pharmacy.

“The pharmacist said no other pharmacy had that medicine except them and we had to choose to either buy it at that price or return home empty-handed,” said the source.

Investigations further revealed that some Indian generic medicines were marketed here in Zimbabwe with different brand names yet they were supplied by the same manufacturer.

For example, Tadaloyil tablets for erectile dysfunction manufactured by Macleods, is marketed here in Zimbabwe as Skypharm Tadalofil and in India as megalis. Both have the same quantities.

However,. in India, this drug costs at most US$2,21 in retail pharmacies against US$12 being charged by local retail pharmacies.

Another drug levofloxacin —  an antibiotic — again manufactured by Macleods is marketed here as Skypharm Levofloxacin and in India as Levomac. The antibiotic, which comes in the form of tablets, costs US$0,61 in India and US$5 in Zimbabwe.

“We do not know whether the changing of brand name is a marketing gimmick to overprice these products but it is a cause for concern particularly when we see such price disparities,” said another source.

Chamisa Vows To “Step Up” Presidency

By Own Correspondent_ Opposition MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has vowed to step up his position as party president.

The statement follow Information deputy minister Energy Mutodi’s utterances calling on Chamisa to relinquish his position to Thokozani Khupe, leader of another faction of the MDC-T.

Mutodi said if Chamisa respected the rule of law as a democrat, he would step down from the helm of the MDC and allow Khupe, already leading her own MDC-T party, to takeover Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House (formerly Harvest House).

Harvest House is the main opposition party headquarters.

Chamisa took the mettle left vacant following the death of founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai on February 14 last year.

He also took over the MDC party headquarters.

“After being declared an illegitimate president of the MDC and usurper of the power in an opposition party that purports to stand for democracy, the honourable thing for Nelson Chamisa (to do) is simply to resign. No court on earth can endorse an illegality, even a court of appeals,” Mutodi said.

The deputy minister’s statements come at a time the MDC has accused Zanu PF of using government arms to interfere in the internal opposition party politics.

However, Chamisa hit back, saying the Zanu PF regime and Mutodi should keep their “hands off” and stop meddling in the affairs of a voluntary organisation.

The opposition leader said Mutodi’s utterances all but confirmed the allegations that Zanu PF had a hand in the MDC party internal politics.
“How does a government get so interested in the affairs of a voluntary organisation? You think that they want a strong opposition when they are not sleeping because of us?” Chamisa queried.

“We are not even an opposition to them. We are not in the business of opposing. They are the opposition. We are the alternative. The opposition is Zanu PF, which is opposing people, their freedom and happiness. We are the alternative.”

Chamisa vowed to “step up and not step down” from his position as MDC leader.

“I will step up, the desires and aspirations of the people. I lose sleep because of the failed economy, the poverty that is pervading fellow Zimbabweans, not this judgment. It is not final, it will be challenged,” he said.

“Constitutionalism Is In Our DNA”: Chamisa

By Own Correspondent- Opposition MDC president Nelson Chamisa said that good governance and the rule of law are second nature to his party.

Chamisa was responding to his party colleague, former Education Minister David Coltart who earlier on tweeted castigating MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe for her response to Justice Mushore’s High Court ruling.

Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Monday, Chamisa said:

Good governance and rule of law are second nature to us.

Constitutionalism matters to us in the MDC.

We follow both the party and national constitutions in all our critical resolutions and steps.

All our decisions were and are fully backed by the provisions in the party constitution.

Coltart had earlier slammed Khupe’s response as “more farcical than the reasoning of the judgement itself”.

Said Coltart:Madam Khupe’s response to the judgment of Mushore J is more farcical than the reasoning of the judgment itself. Her claim to be the leader of t

he very party she opposed in the 2018 election and has vilified since is utterly spurious. Courts cannot create supporters for politicians.

Khupe’s faction has of late received a new lease of life following High Court Judge Justice Mushore’s ruling on Wednesday last week that she is the legitimate president of the MDC following the death of Morgan Tsvangirai

General Wallace Williams Comes To Zimbabwe And Says ED Is Doing Well, Did He Not See Just The Fuel Queues And Collapsed Industries?

Antigua & Barbuda to Nigeria, Brigadier General Dr Wallace Williams

Own Correspondent|The Ambassador of Caribbean Islands of Antigua & Barbuda to Nigeria, Brigadier General Dr Wallace Williams landed in the country and in an instant declared that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is running the country well.

Williams expressed confidence in the leadership of Mnangagwa saying Zimbabwe has made significant progress since he tookover in November 2017.

Having been in the capital Harare, where streets have been narrowed by meandering fuel queues, Williams’ sentiments leave a lot of people wondering where in Harare the Mnangagwa regime took him for him to see a better Zimbabwe.

Williams also visited the ageing Midlands province capital of Gweru where without doubt he would have had a glimpse of the collapsed industries in Kwekwe and Gweru that would have given him an opportunity to give a better assessment of the situation in the country.

In an interview on the sidelines of Pan African Business Summit held in Gweru on Saturday, Dr Williams shockingly said the dispensation under Mnangagwa has increased investor confidence when in actual fact more industries are closing down due to the financial uncertainty in the country.

“I am very happy to be in Zimbabwe and am excited to note that the country has made significant progress since President Mnangagwa came into power. He has been saying that Zimbabwe is open for business and indeed it is open for business considering the reforms that are taking place under the new dispensation and l can guarantee you that the impact will be felt in the shortest possible time,” said Dr Williams.

Dr Williams however managed to realise that Mnangagwa and his government are not applying right economic policies and called on the country to come up with right policies and develop human capital for it to move forward.

Dr Williams said what is encouraging is that investors now have confidence in the Zimbabwean economy.

“What l know now is that there is investor confidence because investment opportunities have been clearly identified. What is left is to translate the investors’ commitments into deliverables,” he said.

The summit, which was organised by River Valley Holdings, was attended by captains of industry, politicians and business people.

Foreign delegates who attended the summit include the Executive Director of Pan African Leadership Development Centre Dr Babalola Omoniyi, Director of Administration and Planning Dr Ayanlola Ayanyimika and Head of Media Zubair Rashid Olanrenwaju.

Enzo Ishall’s 25yr Birthday Bash Brings Harare To A Standstill

By Own Correspondent- It was a historic bash at City Sports Centre on Saturday night when many dancehall musicians gathered for Enzo Ishall’s birthday celebrations. City Sports Centre was filled to the brim with youthful dancehall fans that cheered their stars throughout the night.

The Chillsport Records family came in full support of one of their hottest finds who stormed the dancehall scene with “Kanjiva” that was on Avion Riddim and made waves.

It Enzo’s night to celebrate his special date with fellow musicians and fans. The event will be remembered as one of the best dancehall shows at City Sports Centre.

The musician turned 25 on April 23, but most people that came to the bash believed his real birthday because of the excitement that the “Smart Inotangira Kutsoka” singer had.

He had every reason to celebrate because of the massive support he got on the night. Fellow musicians that graced the event include Sniper Storm, Dhadza D, Seh Calaz, Blot, Bazooker, Master H, T-Gonz and Mad Viper. Artistes from the Chillspot Records family united on stage and Enzo saluted all artistes for uniting for his birthday bash.

The most exciting part of the show was when the artistes took turns to perform as they gathered around Enzo before singing ‘happy birthday’ for him.

Sniper Storm, Dhadza D, Jah Signal, Blot and Master H were on stage at the same time with Enzo as they belted out their songs.

There was commotion in the crowd when one man went on stage and threw bond notes towards fans. People pushed and shoved fighting for the notes. It almost turned violent.

On stage the action continued. When Enzol sang “Smart Inotangira Kutsoka”, Sniper excited the crowd when he showed off his military boots. Bazooker did well with “Bodo” and fans had to call him back to the stage for an extra time of his slot.

T-Gonz came as a surprise act to the bash and gave an outstanding performance. He chanted “Vaida Kundiuraya” in reference to his recent unfortunate experience when he was stabbed by robbers and had to spend many weeks in hospital.

Enzo thanked mobile phone company Avion for a lovely cake that they gave him. The branded cake had letters that spell the singer’s name.

“I want to thank Avion for the nice cake. They have been supportive over the years and they contributed a lot to my career. I want to thank Avion boss Tinashe ‘Nash’ Mutarisi for his support in many ways,” said Enzo.

Enzo’s relationship with Avion began when he featured on Avion Riddim with “Kanjiva”. The video of the song was done by Nash TV, which is under the same group of companies with Avion.

Mutarisi has been involved in many projects with several artistes and he was one of the major sponsors behind the formation of Jah Prayzah’s Military Touch Movement that has groomed various singers.

Enzo said they are planning to do more projects together and he is excited by the success of his birthday bash.-StateMedia

Harare Man To Spend 10yrs Behind Bars For Stealing $5 Worth Copper Wires

By Own Correspondent- A Harare man will spent the next 10 years behind bars after he was last week found guilty of possessing 500g of TelOne drop copper wires valued at $5 without any permit or license.

John Chekani (24) of Overspill, Epworth, was facing charges of contravening the Postal and Telecommunications Act when he appeared before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye.

In passing sentence, Mapiye said such cases are on the increase despite several campaigns against them.

The court heard that on May 3, 2019 Desmond Kakurira was on duty at No. 31 Vernon Road, Greendale, Harare, where he is employed as a security guard.

The State proved that Kakurira peeped through the guardroom window and saw Chekani packing copper wires into his red satchel.

Kakurira called Chekani to the guardroom and he complied.

Upon being asked what was in his red satchel Chekani confirmed that it was TelOne drop wires.

The court heard that Kakurira went on to ask Chekani whether he had any permit or licence authorising him to possess the drop wires and he failed to produce anything, leading to his arrest.

The copper drop wires were positively identified by a member of TelOne Service Department.

Recently Harare magistrate Mrs Barbra Mateko convicted four men for stealing copper conductors weighing more than 45kg and sentenced them to 10 years in jail each.

Munyaradzi Mvumba (24) Tafadzwa Mlambo (22), Jephter Mugochi (30) and Sibonginkosi Banda (22) pleaded guilty to contravening Section 60A (3a) of the Electricity Act that prohibits receiving or taking possession of any material used in connection with the generation, transmission, distribution or supply of electricity.-StateMedia

Fresh Headache For Mnangagwa, As Doctors Revive US$ Salaries Demands

By Own Correspondent– The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) has written to the Health Services Board (HSB) registering doctor’s grievances regarding conditions of service, and the tragic conditions that they are working under in public hospitals in Zimbabwe without protective materials.

The doctors have also demanded to be paid their salaries in United States dollars for them to be motivated.

The letter, dated May 10, reads in part:

We write on behalf of doctors who are currently serving in government hospitals in Zimbabwe. The letter serves you of the growing dissent and discontent from doctors regarding conditions of service in the hospitals.

We hereby inform the Health Service Board (HSB) the major concerns that have generated this discontent.

… The HSB must also recall that in the work contracts that doctors signed, salaries and allowances were clearly pegged in USD.

We request the HSB to abide by labour laws and honour legally binding agreements.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health is called to adjust the salaries and remunerate its workers in USD as detailed in contracts.

This will address the main cause of growing frustration and low motivation among doctors as a result of poor salaries.

Boeing 737 Max Crashes, Families Could Win Damages For Grief, Sorrow, Loss Of Companionship:Report

By Own Correspondent| The amount of money  Boeing and Company and its insurers will pay to the families of those who perished aboard two doomed jets will be dictated in part by one particularly grim calculation: How long did the victims know they were plunging to their deaths.

That measure is just one part of an expanding legal fight to determine financial liability after Boeing 737 Max crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia that killed 346 people in the span of five months.

The passengers’ families also could win damages for grief, sorrow, loss of companionship — and paychecks that will never be earned.

While settling all those claims could cost a billion according to a Bloomberg Intelligence estimate based on prior cases, legal experts agree the payouts could be even higher if evidence shows Boeing knew about flaws in the planes before the tragedies. That’s already prompted investor lawsuits claiming the company hid safety risks.

“The bottom line is Boeing’s exposure is much more substantial than in any other case that I’ve been a part of in my quarter-century of representing families’’ in plane-crash cases, said Brian Alexander, a New York aviation lawyer for victims of the Ethiopian Airlines jet that went down March 10. “You get into ‘What did you know and when did you know it.”

The Ethiopian disaster, following the October crash of a Lion Air flight, led to the worldwide grounding of the 737 Max, the revamped version of a plane model that accounts for a third of Boeing’s operating profit. Among multiple investigations is a U.S. Justice Department probe of how American regulators certified a flawed part of the plane’s flight-control system.

While the precise causes of the crashes are still being determined, the preliminary evidence is raising the liability risk for Boeing, said Robert Rabin, a Stanford University law professor. “It would be in Boeing’s best interest to settle,’’ he said.

That’s because it could be considerably more expensive to go to trial. Cases involving airliner crashes rarely are decided by juries because companies want to avoid the risk of big damage awards as well as the bad publicity of fighting claims by multiple victims.

“There is a tendency for defendants to settle and get on with their business,” Rabin said.-Bloomberg

“High Court Ruling Gives Zanu And The State Power To Destroy MDC”

Lunatic Tinashe Jonasi Seeks Relevance By Swearing At Chamisa Unprovoked, “I Hate You, Wish I Can Shoot You Dead,”

Nelson Chamisa

Own Correspondent|In an instant moment of madness, the man who in recent weeks was arrested for public nuisance after threatening to arrest President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his two deputies, has taken to social media to unleash a shock attack on MDC leader Nelson Chamisa.

Tinashe Jonasi who without reason calls himself the President of Zimbabwe, left people doubting his mental fitness when he from nowhere decided to unleash verbal attack on Chamisa declaring that he hates the young opposition leader and is prepared to even shoot him dead.

According to the post, Jonasi believes that Zimbabweans should be led to a full-fledged war against the government and ZANU PF saying that Chamisa is misleading Zimbabweans by going to elections.

Below is the full outburst by Jonasi against Chamisa as posted on his Facebook page.

“Fascist Mthwakazi Denying People Voice” – We Must Remove Dictators And Stop Fascists

By Wilbert Mukori| “A Republic of Matabeleland or Bloodshed: my reply,” wrote Nomazulu Thata.

“We have spoken on several occasions about the marginalisation of Mathebeleland and that we demand the reburial of mass-shallow graves in this region. We demanded too that those who lost lives and livelihoods should be compensated as such. We also demanded devolution and a referendum to determine the willingness of the peoples of this region if they really need a cessation from the mainland Zimbabwe.

“It appears as if we the peoples of Mathebeleland are denied of the voice to say what we want. These Mthwakazi parties have the say on us. These are mostly men-dominated that will determine our future, fate and destiny behind our backs. Whether we want it or not, Mthwakazi will remove itself from the mainland Zimbabwe. According to me that is fascism.”

Zimbabwe is not the first country to have suffered from decades under an incompetent, corrupt and brutal dictatorship. And, I dare say, it will not be the last country to do so. Dictatorships, by their very nature are very wasteful and the Zanu PF dictatorship is renowned for its criminal waste of material and human resource.

The waste of resources has resulted in poverty and Zimbabwe is today the poorest nation in Africa and, naturally, the people are unhappy with the regime. And to maintaining its strangle hold on power the regime has resorted to brutal oppression, fuelling the mistrust and resentment.

It is this deep seated mistrust and resentment that has fuelled infighting and the break-up of nations post the fall of the dictatorship. Look at Yugoslavia post the Tito, Iraq post Saddam Hussein, Libya post Gaddafi, etc., etc. There is a real danger of Zimbabwe become another Iraq or Libya post Mugabe and Zanu PF.

In a country where unemployment has soared to nauseating heights of 90%, where basic service such as supply of clean water and health care have all but collapsed, where 3/4 of the population are living on US$30 or less per month, etc., etc. the argument that one region has done better than the other is untrue.

What the people of Zimbabwe should aim for post Mugabe and his Zanu PF dictatorship is to build a free, just, prosperous and democratic Zimbabwe.

I agree with you Nomazulu, those now threatening to shed blood unless they get want they want – what they really want is absolute power and will kill and kill again until they get – are fascists. They are no different from Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs – they murdered over 20 000 innocent civilians during Gukurahundi to establish the de facto one-party dictatorship and have murdered over 10 000 since to retain it.

In the last year alone Mnangagwa has shot dead 7 in August 2018 and a further 17 in January 2019 for protesting the rigged elections and soaring cost of living respectively. Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF thugs rigged last year’s elections, they have no mandate to govern the country, they are illegitimate and they must step down.

All our effort must now focus on forcing Zanu PF to step down so we can implement the democratic reforms designed to dismantle the dictatorship and replace it with a healthy and functional democracy. This is our last chance to achieve peaceful and orderly change. Violent street protests or worse will bring change but it could turn the country into another Libya!

If Zanu PF is allowed to stay in power until 2023 the party will rig those elections and extend its ruinous and tyrannical rule. We, the people, will have no one to blame but ourselves.

It will be a great tragedy if Zimbabwe should finally get rid of this incompetent, corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship only to have yet another incompetent, corrupt and tyrannical regime. We made a serious mistake of allow Mugabe to take us down this ruinous path we must not allow this to happen ever again. No, never!

Thank you very much Nomazulu for your courageous stand against the neo- fascists. We want peace and appeasing fascists and dictators will not guarantee peace, as our history with Mugabe and Zanu PF has shown! – SOURCE: zsdemocrats.blogspot.com

South African Police Speak On Musona Armed Robbery Arrest.

Walter Musona

Own Correspondent|Zimbabwean International soccer player Walter Musona was briefly detained by the South African Police Service (SAPS) after his BMW sedan was used during what has been termed a daring armed robbery on Friday.

However, SAPS have since confirmed that Musona was not in the car at the time of the robbery and released a statement to that effect.

We publish the full statement from Col Moatshe Ngoepe of the South African Police Service, Office of the Provincial Commissioner Limpopo below.

The Police in Apel near Lebowakgomo outside Polokwane have launched a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects involved in a business robbery which occurred in the early hours of yesterday, 2019-05-10 at about 01:00, at one of the local guest houses in the Mohlaletse area.

It is alleged that a group of suspects attacked the employees at this overnight accommodation, shot one of them and ransacked the building. The suspects thereafter, uninstalled the Plasma TVs on the walls, loaded them inside their vehicle and stole several other electrical appliances before they fled the scene with a BMW sedan, white in colour.

The police were summoned and reacted swiftly. The suspects’ car was immediately followed by the police and a car chase ensued until the culprits lost control of their vehicle and knocked a tree alongside the road. The suspects managed to flee on foot.

The police searched the car and a number of items believed to be the ones robbed during this incident, were recovered, which include more than ten Plasma television sets, cell phones, TV remote controls, laptops and other items.

The recovered motor vehicle used by these suspects was positively identified. It is belonging to one of the national soccer players. The player is not arrested yet pending further police investigations.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that he was not in the car during this incident but he is cooperating with the police to track down the suspects on which one is already identified.

The suspects involved in this matter including the driver of the motor vehicle are still on the run. The police are calling upon Bothwell Maligasi, to visit Apel police Station or the nearest police station to assist in the investigations in this matter.

Anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects is requested to contact Colonel Moyahabo Morudi at 082 565 7646 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or Crime Line SMS 32211 or the nearest police station.

Jah Prayzah Dumps Mnangagwa Army Links And It Pays Off For Him.

No More army regalia, Jah Prayzah

The choice to ditch anything associated with the country’s army of late appears to be paying off for musician Jah Prayzah, whose ship is steering back to the hearts of many in the music scene after a brief brush with acrimony.

The award-winning musician came on stage in black and white gear while band members donned all black at the Ikonic Chronicles gig late last month in a performance that was characterised by frenzied energy and sing-alongs.

Not so long ago, the lanky Third Generation band leader had fallen victim of the country’s volatile political climate with some music lovers threatening to mute his voice owing to an association with the country’s military brand.

His only crime had been carrying the cultural ambassadorship for the army at a time its star was waning as a result of their heavy handed response to protests last August and January this year.

That chapter could be a thing of the past and along with it goes taglines like “Masoja” (reference to his fans), the parade march dance moves and army-like salutes.

However, his manager Keen Mushapaidze is still diplomatic when commenting about the changes, which he suggests are deliberate and an ongoing process.

“This is part of the consistent changes that have happened in the past two years and it is not inspired by anything that happened recently,” he told this publication.

“As time goes on and events come up, Jah is going to change depending on the time and theme of the moment.”

While he seemed to agree that the current dressing has been a fresh breath calming the detestation, Mushapaidze said there “is no predetermined plan to change outfits” because what people follow is his artiste’s music not what he puts on.

“People fell in love with Jah Prayzah’s music and not his outfits or what he puts on. What he wears does not change anything because music has no relation to clothes,” he said

“It is difficult for his followers to change their love for him because of what he wears.”

But, aside from the dressing, songs like Kutonga Kwaro and Mdhara Vachauya had also been a point of scrutiny for the politically inquisitive who declared that lyrics are in favour of the incumbent government.

Interestingly, Jah Prayzah has stopped performing the mentioned songs at live shows.

Whether the band will make the apparently brand suicidal move to return to their old way remains a mystery but the current style has warmed the hearts of many.
