CHIWONISO BLAST: Grace Mugabe Doing PHD Again?
TSVANGIRAI LATEST: Chamisa Has Saved The MDC From Falling | OPINION
Setfree Mafukidze | I think people need to understand that politics is not some African cultural process where respect for the dead is considered very important ahead of the continued existence of institutions/ a country etc.
What is happening in the MDC T should have been smoothly done by Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai,he should have resolved this succession issue the days he realised he was being kept away from duty for too long. Nelson Chamisa is not wrong to assume responsibility of leading the party,i honestly think that’s what Tsvangirai would have wanted. I remember in one of his last speeches Dr Tsvangirai made it clear that a new generation should take over the leadership in the MDC and in this case Chamisa is the man of the current generation.
Leadership vacuums should never be allowed in political parties or government hence Chamisa moved in as a designated survivor.
A designated survivor is one that steps into the shoes of leadership upon the death of the leader or President, that person is immediately sworn in for the purposes of continuity before the burial of his or her predecessor.
In short I am saying Nelson Chamisa is not wrong to assume leadership, this is no ordinary setup elections are right around the corner they will not be postponed for the MDC to get organised first intact it will be a huge advantage for Zanu PF if the current confusion persists.
It’s only in our African culture where we close business when a relative dies, but this culture becomes unsustainable if one is running a business as big as Econet Wireless for example. You can’t close a network serving millions of people to attend a funeral business goes ahead while others attend to the funeral.
My Two Cents
“Blood Thirst Vulture”, Chamisa’s Coup On Tsvangirai’s Grave | OPINION
By Chokuwapadare | I was going to keep quiet during this period of mourning , to afford President Morgan Tsvangirai , his due respects in his moment of spiritual transition.
However after observing the MDC-T’s leadership squabble turning out into a shocking culturally inappropriate event on a day when the MDC-T must be united with one intention to honour and celebrate the life of a political icon , I am left with more questions than answers about our pretentious being as a people.
The symptoms of moral corruption are disgustingly visible for all who witnessed the Harvest House coronation today.
Where power is concerned , Pastors act like Heathens , Advocates act like Criminals and Democrats act like a Military junta.
Why couldn’t the Harvest House “bloodless intervention” wait until President Morgan , had been laid to rest. What was the hurry when you are the very same people claiming to the whole world to have been given the authority to act by President Morgan Tsvangirayi.
It’s one thing to advocate for a younger generation leader in pursuit of leadership renewal , but its another thing to vote for a 40 year old power thirsty vulture , who is prepared to dishonour his own political mentor and father figure on his death bed, in a desperate pursuit of power.
There is a clear ,apparent and present danger , in bestowing so much power and the responsibility to potentially lead a nation to a person driven by such political vanity.
I’m sure there is going to be some denialist out there arguing for dear life that a vacuum had been created by MT’s passing and therefore MT would have also blessed the move to install a leader immediately for the good of the movement and for the continuation of the struggle.
Let me also agree with such persons and say my 5 year old daughter also believes with all her might that there is a tooth ferry out there that puts money under her pillow for all her fallen teeth. (I’m sure you get my point)
All the best with your endeavours but *chisi hachieri musi wacharimwa*.
Lets agree to disagree, but today’s massive Harvest House gathering was soiled by the political hyenas who came out in celebration when the rest of the country was in mourning.
*At this rate chasara kugara mukadzi wemufi nhaka*
Let me also not stoop so low to the level of vanhu vasina unhu , let me not spoil the time dedicated to honour and celebrate Save’s life on such well trained students of the military junta.
Heroes don’t die , your legacy lives on SAVE.
If ours was a soccer team your jersey *N#1* would definitely be retired , because you have set the bar so high and you are truly irreplaceable.
Knowing you Save , kudenga ikoko kwamayenda , I’m sure You ,Learnmore ,Roy and may other cadres who have gone before us are already building strong structures for the movement in heaven.
Till we meet again.
Go well Morgan.

Tsvangirai Not A Hero, Grace Mugabe Boo Boy Charumbira Is, Says Mnangagwa
Ray Nkosi | The boy who booed Grace Mugabe during a rally Magura Charumbira was conferred with hero status, while veteran opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has been denied the special honour by the President Emmerson Mnangagwa administration.
Commented a ZimEye reader, “A guy who just booed Grace Mugabe at one occassion was granted hero status yet on the other hand a guy who wants served as Prime Minister of the Republic and helped stabilize the economy in a period of 5 years is denied hero status.Such politics is inmature politics, whether political parties oppose each other they all work for a common object to better the lives of citizens of that particular country. This thing of seeing a person who opposes you as your enemt will get us nowhere.”
Charumbira, a 34 year old who did not participate in the liberation struggle and Zanu-PF Bulawayo central district chairperson, died in a crash, when the Mercedes-Benz E-Class he was travelling in rammed into the back of a stationary haulage truck trailer along the Bulawayo-Harare highway near Norton, a small town about 40 kilometres west of Harare.
Speaking on denying the hero status Mnangagwa told journalists the government has instructed the Zimbabwean Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa to liaise with the Tsvangirai family on how best to deal with the departure of the late opposition MDC-T party leader.
He added that Mr Tsvangirai shaped the political discourse in this country for a long time he was in politics and was the Prime Minister for five years hence the need for a befitting send-off.
Mr Tsvangirai (65) died yesterday in South Africa where he was receiving treatment for colon cancer.
MISSING $15 BILLION: Obert Mpofu Grilled
Parliament has summoned Home Affairs minister Obert Mpofu and other high-ranking bureaucrats who served under former president Robert Mugabe’s administration as the legislative assembly continues to seek answers to the controversy surrounding the missing diamond revenue estimated at a staggering $15 billion.
The Daily News can report that Mpofu, who was the minister of Mines and Mining Development from February 2009 to September 2014, will appear before the parliamentary portfolio committee on Mines and Energy, chaired by independent legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa, on Monday.
Also scheduled to appear before the same committee is Mpofu’s successor Walter Chidakwa who served in the same portfolio between September 2014 and November 2017, along with former Finance minister Ignatius Chombo and ex-commissioner-general of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Augustine Chihuri.
Mliswa confirmed yesterday that Mpofu, along with Chidakwa, Chihuri and Chombo would give evidence on Monday.
“We have invited the minister to come on Monday to appear before the committee to give an insight into what could have transpired not only regarding the missing $15 billion but also to explain issues around how licences were given to mining companies and what the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC)’s role was in all this,” said the independent legislator for Norton constituency.
“After him, Chidakwa will also appear along with (officials from) the diamond mines (that operated in Chiadzwa) and people such as Ignatius Chombo and others, including Chihuri whose names have been mentioned regarding diamond money,” he added.
“There are many people who were involved in diamond mining and the responsible ministers during this time were Mpofu and Chidakwa . . . and they should be able to help shed light on the diamond operations,” Mliswa said.
In 2016, Mugabe made startling claims that his government could not account for a jaw-dropping $15 billion lost through nefarious activities by players involved in the extraction of the gems in Chiadzwa.
“We’ve not received much from the diamond industry at all. I don’t think we’ve exceeded $2 billion, yet we think more than $15 billion has been earned,” Mugabe told the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation television on the occasion of his 92nd birthday.
Long before Mugabe had made the claims, an international diamond watchdog campaigning against blood diamonds had released a damning report in 2012 alleging that more than $2 billion worth of diamonds had been salted away from the Chiadzwa fields.
Partnership Africa Canada (PAC) also claimed that Mugabe’s inner circle, together with some international dealers and a large network of criminals, had connived in “the biggest single plunder of diamonds the world has seen since Cecil Rhodes”.
“Marange’s potential has been overshadowed by violence, smuggling, corruption and most of all, lost opportunity.
“The scale of illegality is mind-blowing and has spread to compromise most of the diamond markets of the world,” PAC alleged in its report titled: “Reap What You Sow — Greed and Corruption in Zimbabwe’s Marange Diamond Fields”.
The fields in Chiadzwa or Marange are considered to be one of the world’s biggest deposits of diamonds.
They are located in Manicaland Province, a few kilometres outside the mountainous City of Mutare.
While the gems were discovered decades ago, a diamond rush only ensued in 2006, resulting in Mugabe’s government deploying the military to restore order.
There were reports that several lives were lost during clashes between the army and diamond panners.
At the height of organised mining in Marange, Mbada Diamonds, Marange Resources, Anjin Investments, Diamond Mining Company, Kusena and Gye Nyame were some of the companies that were involved in the extraction of the gems in conjunction with ZMDC.
These were later forced to vacate the diamond fields after their licences had expired.
Some of the companies took their cases to the courts while the rest were collapsed into the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company, owned by government.
During a recent debate in the National Assembly on the National Budget, Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa dismissed Mugabe’s claims saying it was impossible that Zimbabwe could claim to have lost $15 billion when the whole world’s diamond sector produces $15 billion worth of diamonds annually, with Africa’s biggest diamond producer, Botswana, producing about $2 billion worth of the gems annually.
As far as he was concerned, Mugabe spoke “figuratively” and any analytical or scientific mind should have dismissed his claims as a non-issue.
Earlier, presidential spokesperson George Charamba had heaped the blame on the media for not appreciating the “metaphor” used by Mugabe to express his disgust at the
opaque nature of diamond operations in Chiadzwa.
Despite spirited attempts by government bureaucrats to dismiss claims that Zimbabwe lost $15 billion worth of diamond revenue through underhand deals, Parliament is not giving up on its attempts to get to the bottom of the matter.
The planned appearances before Parliament of Mpofu, Chihuri, Chombo and Chidakwa come as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government is upping the ante in its fight against corruption.
In December last year, Mnangagwa gave a three-month moratorium to those who externalised funds and assets to bring them back into the country or face prosecution.
Many however, doubt if the new administration has the political will to follow through leads relating to the leakages blamed for the missing diamond revenue.
These fears seemed to have been confirmed by Chinamasa when he ruled out that $15 billion could have slipped through government’s fingers, suggesting Mugabe could have mentioned the figure as part of figurative speech.
One of Mugabe’s closest allies, former Higher and Tertiary Education minister Jonathan Moyo sarcastically applauded Mnangagwa’s pledge to fight corruption as a good start but went on to encourage him and his deputy (Retired) General Constantino Chiwenga to return the missing $15 billion from China.
Posting on his micro blogging Twitter account Moyo said, “Good start indeed. So let him & Chiwenga lead by example by returning the $15 billion from China!”- Daily News

Tsvangirai’s career began in civil society, as a trade unionist, whose leadership pioneered the formation and expansion of numerous civic society organisations that include the Zimbabwe Human Rights Association, Shandira Zimbabwe and the then National Constitutional Assembly.

National People ‘ s Party receives the news of the untimely passing on of Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai at a Journesburg Hospital with deep pain and shock.
The sad news has come at a time when the nation hoped that Save would recover from his fight against cancer of the colon well in time to resume the democratic struggle of progressive opposition forces in finishing the journey he started 18 years ago; aimed at completely dismantling the oppressive and dictatorial regime of Zanu pf.

TSVANGIRAI DEATH: Open Letter To Mnangagwa
Date: 15 February 2018
Open Letter to HE E. D. Mnangagwa President of the Republic of Zimbabwe
Re: Bestowing Hero Status on Dr. Richard Morgan Tsvangirai
Your Excellence the above refers.
On behalf of the common man in the street of Zimbabwe, I write to notify (not plead with) you that the above mentioned gallant son of Zimbabwe is accorded Hero Status by us the common people of Zimbabwe.
This may not be procedural according to past declarations but is the honest belief of the mourning masses of Zimbabwe. The decision was unanimously arrived at in view of a number of considerations. This was in the belief that he made tremendous contribution towards the effort to deliver a just and democratic political dispensation in post independent Zimbabwe. He was persecuted, harassed, insulted and unjustly prosecuted but held on to his honorable ideal of justice for everyone. Even when the government of the day cruelly stole his election to the presidency in 2008, he humbly accepted a lowly position while the loser assumed a loftier but undeserved presidency. All this was done to help the suffering masses of Zimbabwe. You will be the first one to agree that Zimbabweans enjoyed relative peace and wealth in that period and that period alone.
He remained a lawful citizen even in the face of overwhelming injustices and continued to urge his supporters to observe the rule of law when the government of the day failed to. It is in this regard that we the people of Zimbabwe with the powers bestowed on us as proud citizens of this nation declare Richard Morgan Tsvangirai national Hero Status despite what action you will take as the leader of the government of the day. Whether you decide to stick to the primitive and partisan method of awarding hero status to members of your party or war veterans only, that remains entirely your prerogative. That will not change our resolution or demean the status that this man was a true democrat who stood with the people during very difficult circumstances while you and your party had deserted us to enrich yourselves at our expense. He voiced our concerns while you were busy singing praises to a dictator and his wife founding a new Borrowdale Brooke club for the elite oblivious of the suffering masses whose rights you ceaselessly trampled upon.
What you do in the following few days will inform us of whether you have decided to take Zimbabwe forward on a new trajectory of openness and responsiveness or remain stuck in the narrow minded, obsolete and archaic systems of government your predecessor and mentor pursued to the discord and polarization of our beautiful nation. Another chance has been presented to you to absolve yourself from a tainted and vindictive past.
Looking forward to your response.
Yours faithfully
Charles Chidavaenzi(Justice for the Povo Rep)
4 Fight To Replace Auxillia Mnangagwa
At least four candidates are reportedly lining themselves to take over from Chirumanzu-Zibangwe’s outgoing MP and First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa.
Although Zanu PF has not yet opened campaigning for primary elections, NewsDay understands that Retired Major Max Zvidzai, one Dhlamini, who is said to once have been President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s campaign manager during his stint as MP for the constituency, Zanu PF youth provincial vice-chairperson Prosper Machando and provincial spokesperson Cornelius Mupereri are eyeing the constituency.
According to informed sources, the four have been active on the ground canvassing for support.
“Zvidzai has been using his current position as a central committee member to get the seat while Dhlamini is using his stint with the President to lay his groundwork. He has been working throughout the constituency and seems to have an advantage,” a source said.
However, Mupereri yesterday said he had no interest in the constituency.
“We are mature party cadres, we consult, seek guidance from the party elders before we make any decision. At the moment, I can certainly tell you that I have no interest in Chirumanzu-Zibangwe. They might be people who want to have interest on my behalf, but certainly not me,” he said.
On Saturday, the First Lady bade farewell to her supporters at a rally which was attended by the President, saying she was now focusing on her national role as First Lady.
Efforts to get a comment from the other interested candidates were fruitless.
Govt Announces New Visa Regime
The government of Zimbabwe has announced a revised visa regime which will see 29 countries being moved from Category C to Category B (visa on arrival) as the country moves in to improve travel facilitation and unlock the potential of the tourism industry.
Announcing the development during the National Tourism Strategy Workshop held in Victoria Falls, Department of Immigration Principal Director Mr Clement Masango said the changes are with immediate effect and are part of government efforts to improve travel facilitation and unlock the potential of the tourism industry.
Category B regime entails that tourists may be issued with visa on arrival while category C requires tourists to obtain the visa before travelling.
Among the 29 countries moved from category C to B include Mexico, Ethiopia, Yugoslavia, Panama, Romania and Armenia among others.
Zimbabwe is the first and only SADC country to remove visa requirements for all (SADC) members.
SHOCKER: Auxillia Mnangagwa Threatens To Fire Nurses At Local Hospital
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo | The First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa has warned staff members at Masvingo Provincial Hospital against rampant looting of foodstuffs meant for patients.
Addressing government officials and staff members at Masvingo Provincial Hospital yesterday, Mrs Mnangagwa warned that such offenders would be dismissed from work without notice.
The First Lady described the nurses at the hospital as heartless and insensitive to the sad plight of patients.
“You have to consider the plight of the patients. I have been informed that there is rampant looting of foodstuffs meant for patients.
As nurses, you are expected to behave in a professional manner.
How come you stoop so low?You must be ashamed of what you are doing.
The government will not accommodate criminal elements,” said Mrs Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa Denies Tsvangirai Hero Status
By Paul Nyathi | Superstar and veteran musician Oliver Mtukudzi in one of his contemporary songs asked the question, “What does it take to be a hero?”
Millions of Zimbabweans are today asking the same question in huge disappointment after President Emmerson Mnangagwa denied the late MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai a hero status.
President Mnangagwa announced in a statement on Thursday that he has not accorded Tsvangirai any level of a Hero Status but government will give him a state assisted funeral.
Mnangagwa who recently showed great compassion for Tsvangirai had all the hopes of the nation that he will
riseabove the norm and declare Tsvangirai a national hero.
According to the National Heroes Act only the President, and not the Zanu-PF Politburo as is sometimes reported, declares national hero status.
“Where the President considers that any deceased person who was a citizen of Zimbabwe has deserved well of his country on account of his outstanding, distinctive and distinguished service to Zimbabwe, he may, by notice in Gazette, designate such a person a national, provincial or district hero of Zimbabwe,” reads the Act.
MDC-T newly installed interim Pressident Nelson Chamisa said that Tsvangirai is likely to be buried in his home village of Buhera.
Speaking at a press conference Chamisa said that even though Mnangagwa has ignored giving Tsvangirai a hero status, the MDC-T has declared him a National Hero.
“MDC-T is united. We have a vision. We mourn our late president. Tsvangirai told us before his death that he wants to be buried in Buhera. We have declared him a national hero,” said Chamisa.
BREAKING NEWS – Mnangagwa Confers Govt Burial For Tsvangirai
By Langton Ncube| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has denied the late MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai National Hero status.
Speaking Thursday afternoon, Mnangagwa said Tsvangirai will be given a state assisted burial.
Speaking to journalists, Mnangagwa said, “obviously as a nation we feel we have lost a man who has his contribution to the political landscape of this country. Yes he was in the opposition but he was striving to make sure that there was democracy in the country from his perspective, and he has been in the political arena for a very long time; so our politics has been shaped by his contribution to this country.
“…so it is very important that we as government pay our respects to one of us. So last night, I instructed the Zimbabwe embassy in Pretoria to assist in any manner possible…but once they will have come here I have already discussed with my colleagues as to what honour we are going to give him. No, no no we will make him state assisted funeral.”

Putin Sends Russian Minister To Zimbabwe

Russian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Sergey Lavrov will visit Zimbabwe early next month in what is expected to be yet another major statement that the Southern African country is open for business.
The visit by one of Russia’s most powerful man was confirmed by the Russian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Sergeyi Bhakarov in Harare today.
Mr Lavorov last visited Zimbabwe in 2014 and took part in the commissioning of the US$4 billion platinum project which is expected to start operations next month.
Exploration and geological works in the area situated along the Great Dyke have already been completed.
Mr Lavrov’s anticipated visit comes at a time Zimbabwe is on a major offensive to woo foreign direct investments (FDIs) and strengthening and deepening already existing bilateral and multilateral ties globally.
Many potential investors in the mining and other sectors are also flocking into the country to seek opportunities on the back of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regional tours and his recent attendance of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Chigwedere Neglects 36 Children
By Langton Ncube| Former Education minister Aeneas Chigwedere’s son, Mangwiza, has revealed that his father has over 40 children, but only loves four, the court has heard.
Mangwiza, who is embroiled in a nasty witchcraft saga with Chigwedere, accused his father of attempting to divert from the family’s primary priority of seeking to conduct a cleansing ceremony by compelling him to undergo DNA paternity tests.
In response to Chigwedere’s court application for paternity tests, in order to prevent him from benefiting from the former governor in the event of his death, Mangwiza said he was prepared to go through the procedure.
But Mangwiza said he would rather not do it on terms set out by his father alleging he was capable of manipulating the results, him being a powerful politician.
“The applicant (Chigwedere) is a learned man and should not stoop this low in order to worm out of a human life case and attempt to put paternity tests versus the right of life, versus cruel and inhuman degrading treatment, versus slavery through cultural means and all that continues in the eyes of the court almost two years later,” Mangwiza said in his answering affidavit.
“Furthermore, as learned as he is, he should have simply written a will that I will not inherit anything from him. I do not need blood money or blood assets and whatever he got through human loss of life. I can work on my own. All I am asking the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) is for cancellation of more than 200 cultural procedures he did on me while keeping me away from my mother for more than 20 years and has the audacity to say I am not his child.”
The former governor’s son wondered how Chigwedere expected the court to accept the request.
Mangwiza said he had only spoken to Chigwedere once in the past three-and-a-half years after accusing him of bewitching his children.
“He has never approached me at any point in time on paternity tests. The only time I spoke to him is when he told me I was going to die, telling me the ancestors were not happy and that I would not live long,” he said.
“I have accepted that tests be carried out and am not worried about the infringement of privacy on my part as there is nothing to lose in knowing who my father is. In fact, it would be a relief knowing he is not my father due to his atrocities on his very own blood and family. Hopefully, he does the same when the time for cleansing comes as he is running away from it.”
In 2016, the Chigwederes approached the ConCourt, urging it to compel Chigwedere to carry out an exorcism ceremony with a view to cast out goblins, but the court dismissed the matter on the basis that Mangwiza had used the wrong procedure in approaching it.
First Lady Opens Official Facebook Page

President Mnangagwa announced the First Lady’s official page in his own page on Tuesday evening.
In a short video announcing her page, First Lady Mnangagwa said that she is inviting Zimbabweans to communicate openly with her through the platform.
President Mnangagwa opened his official Facebook page a month ago and it has been a very busy page with Zimbabweans posting issues to Mnangagwa some of which he has been able to immediately respond to.
Controversy has however not spared the President as some people claim that they have been blocked from the page after posting controversial matters including the disappearance of Itai Dzamara.
Mnangagwa Tarriances Prophet Abducted By Assailants
By Langton Ncube| President Emmerson Mnangagwa is today visiting Madzibaba Wimbo.
Wimbo is the controversial preacher who was once abducted by unknown assailants 3 years ago in a development that saw the Robert Mugabe controlled Central Intelligence Organisation being blamed for it.
A number of former President Mugabe’s top securocrats — including the former police commissioner-general Augustine Chihuri, and army major general Douglas Nyikayaramba, who are both members of Wimbo’s church were accused of fuelling chaos in his church-sect.
Ironically also, the preacher is brother to Augustine Chihuri who Mnangagwa fired last year.
According to Mnangagwa’s official diary, the President is flying to Guruve where he is expected to officiate at an irrigation scheme in the Mashonaland Central province before visiting Wimbo who stays in the same province.
Mnagagwa’s reasons for visiting Wimbo were not known at the time of writing.
Sources told ZimEye.com that Wimbo and Chihuri do not see each other eye to eye over the control of the Mount Darwin based apostolic church.

NewsDay reports that, Masiyakurima wants Mandiwanzira to be charged for sending his employees Charles Mtetwa (34) and Tapiwa Garapo (46) to damage his machinery.
Masiyakurima told the court he bought the crane from Mandiwanzira for $411 000 as payback for being awarded the tender to erect 200 NetOne base stations throughout the country.
“Your Worship, I won’t testify further if Supa Mandiwanzira is not brought in the dock. He is the one who sent these guys to destroy my crane. I sold my house to raise funds after I got a contract to build 100 base stations worth $3,7 million. Mandiwanzira wanted 40% of the amount for a bribe, which I refused. He then tried to force me to buy his two 20-cubic-metre tippers at a higher price. He told me that he must benefit somehow in my $3,7 million. NetOne contract and I succumbed since I did not want tension with the minister. I bought his crane which I defaulted paying by 30 days and he then sent his people to damage my crane after I finished paying him,” he said.
When he was ordered to direct his complaint to the prosecutor, Masiyakurima kept demanding that Mandiwanzira be charged together with Mtetwa and Garapo.
The matter was postponed to Friday
Mnangagwa Dumps Gono
By Langton Ncube| The President Emmerson Mnangagwa administration has relegated the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) project rendering the board chairperson Gideon Gono jobless.
The SEZ board was appointed last year with a view to helping attract the much needed but elusive foreign direct investment to the country.
Gono told parliament Tuesday that they had no offices.
“As it stands we are like a flying object, we do not know which ministry we are now under whether it is Finance, Industry and Commerce or Macro-economic planning and until that is determined we will remain where we are,” he told Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs.
“We have no chief executive officer or a secretariat, we did the interviews as required by the law and submitted our recommended candidates to the government for appointment but nothing has been done and because other members of the board are fully employed elsewhere, they look up to the chairman to do most of the secretarial work,” he said.
“We have no offices, sometimes we meet in the boardroom of what used to be the Ministry of Macroeconomic Planning, but when we are meeting with investors or when they want to submit their proposals we use my personal office,” he said.
Gono said they had written to various ministries asking whether they belonged to them or not.
“The Act does not help much in determining our parent ministry it only mentions that we report to the ministry but does not mention the ministry or specify it,” he said.
Grace Mugabe, Jonathan Moyo Haunt Mnangagwa
By Langton Ncube|The ousted top members of Zanu PF’s G40 faction, and leaders of a new political party, New Patriotic Front, have formally petitioned the African Union and Sadc challenging the legitimacy of their arch-rival President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The 79-page dossier urging the continental body not to recognise Mnangagwa’s government on the grounds that it was born out of a military intervention was yesterday formally served by the new political party’s lawyer, South African Marius van Niekerk.
The petition was received by chairperson of the Sadc Organ on Politics, Defence and Security and Angola President Joào Lourenco, chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussaka Faki Mahamat, chairperson of Sadc South African President Jacob Zuma, Sadc executive secretary Stergomena Lawrence Tax, and the outgoing AU chairperson Alpha Conde of Guinea.
Most of the copies circulated to the media were received between February 2 and yesterday.
The NPF is pleading with Sadc and the continental body not to recognise Mnangagwa, who came into power following a military operation against former President Robert Mugabe in November last year .
Mugabe resigned following the military operation code named Operation Restore Legacy, but former Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo claimed the veteran politician was forced to resign by the military. He added Mnangagwa should not be recognised by the international community.
The dossier contains minutes between Mugabe and the military’s top brass after he was put under house arrest.
Ginimbi “Fails” To Honour His $40 000 Winky D Pledge
By Langton Ncube| Businessman and socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure is reported to have failed to honour his $40 000 pledge to Winky D.
Gimibi at the launch of Wallace Chirumiko’s latest album, Gombwe, said that he was going to buy the music for $40 000.

Ginimbi pledge an another $20 000 to make it $40 000 in total.
At the end of the night, Winky D smiled all the way to the bank with a cool $70 000, a lump sum that could enable him to invest wisely.
It was not all sweet and rosy behind the scenes as Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda and Dee Nosh of 2 Kings Entertainment nearly got into a fistfight over the administering of tickets.

Nude Mum Runs As Drunk Son Attempts To Rape Her
By Paul Nyathi
A Gwanda man lives to regret whatever he was drinking or smoking on the night of October 2 which intoxicated him so much that he thought of quenching his sex drive on his own mother.
The 32 year old man from Paye Village in Gwanda South was on Monday sentenced to four months imprisonment after being in remand prison since October for allowing his drunken stupor to get the better of him and had him want to insert his manhood into his own 55 year old mother.
He was convicted on his own plea of guilty to threats to commit rape and murder by Gwanda magistrate, Obedience Matare.
The magistrate gave him an option of paying $300 fine or serve the four months imprisonment in case of default. In addition, the man was sentenced to four months imprisonment which was wholly suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
Prosecuting, Mr Takudzwa Mafudze said the man forcibly gained entrance into his mother’s homestead on October 2 at around 1AM.
“On 2 October around 1AM the complainant was woken up by her son who was making noise outside her bedroom hut, insulting her with vulgar words. He then knocked on his mother’s door and ordered her to open as he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her but she refused,” said Mr Mafudze.
“The man forcibly gained entry into his mother’s bedroom hut and threatened to rape her and then kill her afterwards.
“He tried to grab his mother who was half naked but she managed to escape and fled from her homestead. The man pursued her until she sought refuge at a neighbour’s homestead.”
He said the woman reported the matter to the police resulting in her son’s arrest.
In mitigation, the man begged for leniency saying he had committed the offence while under the influence of alcohol.
“Your Worship I erred. I was acting under the influence of alcohol and I was unaware of the things I was doing. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t do what I did to my mother,” he said.
Sitting ZANU PF MPs Barred From Contesting Elections

By Paul Nyathi
The revived ZANU PF Gwanda District Coordinating Committee has officially told two Gwanda parliamentarians that they will not be allowed to contest this year’s elections.
Gwanda Central parliamentarian Edson Gumbo and his Gwanda North counterpart Madodana Sibanda were officially advised by the party in the district that they have been relegated to serve at cell level and will not contest in the primary elections to choose candidates for the upcoming elections.
A circular note from a ZANU PF District Coordinating Committee made available to ZimEye.com indicates that the two parliamentarians will be allowed to complete their terms of office but will not be allowed to contest in this year’s elections due to suspected G40 links.
Reliable sources indicated to ZimEye.com that the party is earmarking replacing Gumbo with former Gwanda South parliamentarian and senator Japhet Dube while Lungisani Ncube a prominent miner in Gwanda has been set to take over from Sibanda in Gwanda North.
ZANU PF is set to hold primary elections at the beginning of next month.

Grace Mugabe Not Even In Zimbabwe Yet Mnangagwa Print Says She Has Annexed Mujuru – Zhuwao
By Farai D Hove| Former First Lady Grace Mugabe is not even in Zimbabwe so how can the state media publish a story saying she has struck a deal with Joice Mujuru, says President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao.
Zhuwao, writing in his latest column brief, says Grace is currently outside the country attending to her new grandchid.

by Honourable Patrick Zhuwao on 6
the February 2018
The ZBR notes the panic, palpable fear and jittery response of the coup conspirators and
terrorist junta to the emergence of the New Patriotic Front. Two issues, in particular, are
leaving Mnangagwa and Chiwenga worried sick. They do not know the leadership of the
NPF, and therefore do not know where to send their decaying tanks, armoured cars and SAS soldiers to murder and assassinate the NPF leadership. Secondly, despite their futile efforts to infiltrate and derail the NPF, they have absolutely no idea of the NPF’s innovative strategy, let alone how to address it.
As expected, Mnangagwa and Chiwenga were caught flat footed by the fact that the NPF’s
emergence on the political scene was by way of a comprehensively detailed and damning
petition to the African Union and SADC. The petition, which has been received by the
regional and continental leadership, provides a blow by blow summary and analysis of the
bloody coup of 15th November 2017 which is backed by direct and irrefutable evidence
generated by the so-called “command element” itself during the coup and recorded by their
coup secretary, George Charamba.
Unsurprisingly, the coup conspirators and terrorist junta, who have no credible responses to
the petition, chose to weave a web of deceit to divert people’s attention from the petition to
towards personalities. They aptly demonstrated the adage that “simple minds discuss people” by the front page article in the Sunday Mail of 4th February 2018 entitled “Grace Mugabe, Mujuru in elections pact”. The first sentence of that article boldly lies that President Mugabe is forming a political party with Dr Joice Mujuru and Dr Grace Mugabe. Vanoreva nhema (they are lying).
They base their deceit on the purely social and human act that Dr Mujuru visited President
Mugabe on Tuesday 30th January 2018. True to the saying that the guilty are always afraid,
the coup conspirators and terrorist junta have conflated the circulation of the NPF Discussion Points Document and Petition to the African Union and SADC with Dr Mujuru’s visit to President Mugabe. The Sunday Mail goes even further with their deceit by describing the visit as a meeting with the Mugabes (note the emphasis on plural) blissfully unaware of the fact that Dr Grace Mugabe has been out of the country attending to a family blessing, for which celebrations are in order.
The deceit that Dr Grace Mugabe was present when Dr Joice Mujuru visited President
Mugabe is consistent with the dirty modus operandi of Mnangagwa and Chiwenga of
manufacturing false intelligence for purposes of disinformation in pursuit of their personal
political objectives. Hazvisvodi zvirume izvi (these contemptible men have no shame). The
blatant lie that President Mugabe is forming a political party is totally at odds with the
indisputable fact that President Mugabe is retired and has no wish to come back to be Head of State and Government as clearly articulated in the last ZBR article.
The coup conspirators and terrorist junta have a well-established record of consistent and
persistent deception. They created deceptive narratives to discredit Dr Joice Mujuru in 2014.
Their web of deception was designed to create a wedge between President Mugabe and Dr
Joice Mujuru. Mnangagwa and Chiwenga have been working assiduously to create a web of
deceit to further their personal ambitions for plundering and looting Zimbabwe under their
model of kleptocratic primitive accumulation masqueraded as neo-liberalism.
In 2014, the kleptocratic cabal of the Junta used its control of military intelligence to
manipulate audio recordings done by a certain Charumbira, who is their mupostori-agent
codenamed Shumba. Charumbira used a wristwatch to record Dr Joice Mujuru whose content was then manipulated by the Junta. The manipulated audios would feature Dr Joice Mujuru disparaging both President Mugabe and Dr Grace Mugabe and would give the impression that Dr Mujuru suffered from unbridled ambition. The other security services, namely the police and intelligence, were cast as having been captured by Dr Joice Mujuru to such an extent that the technical branches of both the CIO and ZRP were not allowed to authenticate the recordings as would normally happen in such cases. Mnangagwa and Chiwenga’s vendetta continues to this day as evidenced by the massive purges in the ZRP and CIO.
Honourable Dydmus Mutasa was reported to be plotting with other liberation movements in
the SADC region to depose President Mugabe for the benefit of Dr Joice Mujuru. His then
director, Charity Moyo, was said to have reported to Chiwenga and Mnangagwa the alleged
plots that also allegedly involved ANC leaders such as Comrade Matthews Phosa. Charity
Moyo was rewarded by being made a senior director in Mnangagwa’s government office
when he was elevated to Vice President. Honourable Tendai Savanhu was also accused of
having driven to Botswana to be given funds by President Khama to depose President
Mugabe.
Honourable Rugare Gumbo was reported as having said that President Mugabe would “go the Kabila way”; that is to say that he would be assassinated by a member of his security detail.
Similarly, grave allegations were made that Honourable Nicholas Goche had hired Israeli
assassins to kill President Mugabe. A similar deception was also being peddled more recently against Honourable Dr Chombo, but that was quickly dismissed because the image used to attempt to validate that deception was from a media report from South America. These webs of deceit that cost Dr Joice Mujuru her VP post were woven by Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.
This was not done Dr Grace Mugabe.
Mnangagwa and Chiwenga’s current failure to infiltrate and derail the NPF has forced them
to make the clumsy false assertions that Dr Grace Mugabe seeks to lead the NPF. That is not true. I can confirm that Dr Grace Mugabe delights in the opportunity that has now availed itself for her to spend more time with President Mugabe and the family. Dr Grace Mugabe will be focusing on the Robert Gabriel Mugabe Foundation and the philanthropic work that she has always been doing at the orphanage prior to her being invited to join politics by the Lacoste coupsters who included Oppah Muchinguri, Prisca Mupfumira and Pupurai Togarepi amongst others.
Iwe neni tine basa. Mkhulu loMsebenzi.

Govt Recruits 734 Headmasters
The Public Service Commission (PSC) is set to recruit 734 school heads and deputies in Matabeleland region and Masvingo Province. In a notice dated January 29, PSC secretary Mrs Pretty Sunguro said the deadline for applications was March 2.
The vacancies are available in Bulawayo, Masvingo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces.
Primary and Secondary Education permanent secretary Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango said her ministry had recommended the recruitments. She said the number was not unusual.
“The school heads can be for schools without substantive heads or those eligible for promotion,” said Dr Utete-Masango. “We normally have huge numbers that there is nothing unusual. They arise from the fact that they would have identified schools without substantive heads and satellite schools that require school heads.”
Dr Utete-Masango said her ministry recommended the required personnel and the PSC flighted vacancy notices.
“Initial screening and interviews are held in the provinces and submitted to head office for appointment,” she said.
In Bulawayo Province, nine school heads are required; four for secondary and five for primary schools as well as four deputy heads for secondary schools and nine deputy heads for primary schools.
According to Mrs Sunguro’s memo, 117 secondary school heads and 88 primary school heads, as well as 151 deputy heads for both primary and secondary schools will be recruited in Masvingo Province.
Matabeleland North has 176 posts for deputy primary school heads and five deputy secondary schools heads.
There are 175 vacant posts for deputy heads at primary school level in Matabeleland South.
The notice says applicants for the headmasters’ post must be certified university graduates.
“Please note that applicants for A-Level schools should be holders of a degree with relevant teaching subject,” read the notice. “A relevant Master’s degree would be an added advantage. At least two years’ experience as deputy head.”
Applicants for deputy head vacancies must also be university graduates and holders of primary or secondary teachers’ certificates or diplomas.
They must also have a commendable work experience as senior teachers or should have occupied an equivalent grade.
The notice read that both positions required applicants with thorough understanding of the Education Act, knowledge of Public Service and Education regulations, procedures and policies, as well as excellent communication skills.
Mrs Sunguro encouraged eligible female candidates to apply. Last year, the PSC recruited about 2 300 teachers who were deployed to schools in various parts of the country. -state media
UK Based Zimbabwean Arrested Over $5,000 Fraud
A Chitungwiza man appeared in court yesterday for duping a client of $5 000 after promising to import an engine for him. Farai Dzimba (41), who is based in the United Kingdom, but currently in Zimbabwe, appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Oliver Mudzongachiso facing charges of theft of trust property.
He was remanded to February 19 on $100 bail. Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa alleged that Nezbert Kachaka wanted to buy an engine and met Dzimba’s young brother who told him that his brother could import an engine on his behalf.
Dzimba’s brother convinced Kachaka to accompany him to Dzimba’s residence where they kept engines. On arrival at the residence, Kachaka was shown engines, which he was told belonged to other customers. The court heard that Kachaka placed an order for a DAF 920 power pack engine and paid $5 000.
Dzimba promised to deliver the engine after two weeks from the day that the order was placed. The court further heard that after two weeks, Dzimba became evasive and started giving endless excuses. Kachaka reported him to the police, leading to his arrest. – state media
Policeman Arrested Over $1320 Bribes
A policeman attached to the Midlands Professional Updating Centre (PUC) has been arrested for allegedly receiving $1 320 in bribes to facilitate the recruitment and training of three prospective police officers.
Constable Arnold Garikayi Matara (32) of Mkoba 17, Gweru, appeared before Midlands provincial magistrate, Mrs Phathekile Msipa on Monday facing fraud charges. He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to February 15 on $100 bail.
It is the State case that in March 2016, the first complainant Rebecca Muchairi did her pre-entry test for joining the police force and was told to approach Matara for assistance since she was almost 30-years-old, which is the cut off age for recruits.
Matara assured her that her request will be forwarded to Morris Depot Recruitment department for consideration. In July, Muchairi approached Matara to check on progress on her recruitment and was asked to pay a bribe of $520, which she did.
In November, Muchairi learnt that there was recruitment and applicants were at Midlands PUC en-route to Harare. She approached Matara who told her that the recruitment was for senior officers and asked her to check in January.
Muchairi later inquired from her brother who is a police officer and was told that there was no such recruitment taking place and she reported the matter to the police leading to Matara’s arrest. In another incident in September, two siblings Joshua and Last Mugwagwa did their pre-entry test for joining the police force.
In November, their father Efoius Mugwagwa approached Matara who demanded $400 from each of his sons, alleging that it was for the purchase of uniforms. Matara was paid $700 cash and a deposit of $100 in his mobile money account.
In November, Joshua and Last were called to Morris Depot for training and Mugwagwa leant that the police had provided them with uniforms for free. Mugwagwa approached Matara demanding his money back and was given $400 only. He reported the matter to the police, leading to Matara’s arrest.
Ms Memory Chitsunge appeared for the State. In another case, a Zhombe woman appeared before a Kwekwe magistrate facing murder charges after she attacked her husband and his mistress when she caught them being intimate.
Sandy Matava (35) was not asked to plead when she briefly appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Mr Storey Rushambwa for fatally assaulting her husband John Phiri and his mistress Lenia Sikhosana after she caught them naked at the woman’s house. She was remanded in custody to February 15 for routine remand and was urged to apply for bail at the High Court. -state media
Grace Mugabe PhD Latest: Nyagura Attacks Vigilant Lecturers Who Exposed Scam
The University of Zimbabwe’s Vice Chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura has attacked lecturers in the Department of Sociology who exposed Grace Mugabe’s PhD.
Academics say Nyagura is not shielding Grace Mugabe alone, as there are many corrupt ZANU PF officials who were given fake degrees at the institution. Dr Pedzisayi Ruhanya wrote on his portal:
“The people who wrote Grace’s ‘PhD Thesis’ should have been on drugs. They use 2016 and 2017 citations in a 2014 authored dissertation. Colleagues Kindly take some time to read this greatest academic fraud in history. God have mercy! There is no fraud that beats this!”
He also posted on Wednesday saying, “where is Killer Zivhu, one among a few delusional elements from Masvingo who joined Grace Mugabe to acquire a bogus PhD; his is from some bogus organisation in Avondale called International Philanthropy Institute? The last days of Mugabe rule, hey!”
State media report: The lecturers challenged the awarding of a doctorate to former First Lady Grace Mugabe, saying they were “ignorant Messrs and doctors” with no academic capacity to supervise a PhD student. In an interview with The Herald yesterday on demands by 10 lecturers for the university to revoke Mrs Mugabe’s PhD, Prof Nyagura said PhD students were supervised by the post-graduate centre and not a teaching department. “There is no way that they could have supervised the candidate because a doctorate is not done by a teaching department. It is done by a post-graduate centre,” said Prof Nyagura.
He dismissed allegations that the thesis was not in the library until this year. Prof Nyagura claimed the thesis was deposited at the university library in 2014. “Those are all lies. The thesis has always been in the library since 2014,” he said. Prof Nyagura said Mrs Mugabe’s thesis was supervised by two professors, who also supervised former Vice President Joice Mujuru.
Prof Nyagura said the university was ready to defend its position should the lecturers consider taking a legal route. Earlier in the year, 10 lecturers from the department of sociology challenged Prof Nyagura to revoke and nullify Mrs Mugabe’s doctorate arguing that it was awarded unprocedurally. Supervised by Professor Claude Mararike, Mrs Mugabe graduated with the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Social Studies in September 2014.
Through their lawyer Ms Fiona Iliff from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, the lectures said they were shocked to hear that Mrs Mugabe had been awarded a doctorate from their department when they never saw her application, acceptance letter, supervision and even awarding of the degree.
“The Sociology Department Board has never approved anything in respect of the candidate’s research or thesis. The members of the Sociology Department Board were shocked at the news that the candidate was awarded the degree by the Sociology Department. All the requisite procedures were not followed in toto, and there was complete disregard of university rules, processes and procedures,” said the lectures in their letter of concern dated January 29 2018 to the University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura.
The 10 lecturers are: Prof Rudo Gaidzanwa, Drs Sandra Bhatasara, Julius Musevenzi, Fenton Ruparanganda, Gutsa, Mandizadza, Sadomba, Mate and Messrs Nelson Muparamoto and T Chevo. The lecturers further alleged that as at January 8 2018, Mrs Mugabe’s thesis was not in the university library.
“All things considered, the awarding of the degree under such circumstances was unethical, unprofessional, and unprocedural, as the quality of the final product was not controlled by qualified professionals if at all any research was conducted to warrant conferment of such a degree. The awarding of the degree constitutes academic corruption and criminal abuse of office in terms of section 174 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:23) on the part of anyone implicated in awarding the degree at the University.”
With regards to Professor Mararike’s appointment, the lecturers alleged that he was appointed without their consultation as stipulated in the ordinance regulations. They said Prof Mararike whom they allege was Mrs Mugabe’s supervisor was not a suitable candidate to act as chairperson of the Sociology department board since he was on a temporary contract at the university.
“Your appointment of Professor C. Mararike was in breach of sections 4.2 and 4.7 of ordinance number 25 of the University of Zimbabwe, in that no consultation with members of the Sociology department board was ever done,” alleged the lecturers. Sources close to Mrs Mugabe’s PhD thesis saga claim that the department of Sociology has handled many other PhD students.
They said in the event that the department lacked competences in line with the student’s thesis, it is the department which seeks supervisors from other departments contrary to what transpired in Ms Mugabe’s doctorate. The sources also dismissed Prof Nyagura’s claims that no one in the department was qualified to hold the position of acting chairperson saying there was a full professor and four Doctors.

Grace Mugabe’s ex-Hubby Goreraza Blows Mnangagwa’s Trumpet
Stanley Goreraza | But to be fair and to be honest, President Mnangagwa has done a splendid job so far, far far better than his unaccommodating, uncompromising, unfriendly predecessor. He has created what are the first steps to a investor friendly Zimbabwe, citizen friendly policies, and overall his language has been a welcome departure from the past confrontational and combative outbursts which were a major turnoff to investors and powerful world powers.
There are outstanding issues like gukurahundi, 2008, Itai Dzamara, and criminal economic genocidal policies which need to be addressed to bring closure and healing. These issues bring tears, pain and anger and the country will never move on if they are swept under the carpet. President Mnangagwa must be bold and courageous enough to to open the conversation about these things and let the nation know what real happened why and who made these things happen. It all happened on Mr Mugabes watch, so when President Mnanagagwa says the former President did not make any mistakes, he is being politically correct for his partys sake, but blatantly being dishonest.
Like all immortals, the President will make mistakes and we must make allowances for that. But something like Murambatsvina or Itai Dzamara is no mistake. Robbing a bank is not a mistake neither is shooting dead another fellow human being. Doing something which produces unintended consequences like punching someone during a fight and they die, that is a mistake.
Good, the President has welcomed criticism and says he wants people to tell him to his face where and when he goes wrong. The first person responsible for that is the first lady. If your own wife does not tell you to stop it when you go wrong then you don’t have a wife in the first place and are doomed. Your wife should conduct regular reality checks on you and police your behavior. The most successful men think to themselves before going astray ” if my wife finds out about this im in trouble”. Kwete kuti mukadzi anototya kutsiura murume kana kumupembedza paano rezva.
Secondly, it’s the duty of everyone in Zanupf to tell the President off when he goes off the rails and not protect him. His wife can scold him in private but Zanupf must reprimand him in public, softly or harshly , it’s up to them. In the politburo or at the central committee, or Congress, the President must be told he has done wrong and must be asked to explain himself. This will put public confidence in their party and strengthen things like democracy and freedom of speech.
Now the President needs to rein in his lieutenants like Engelbert Rugeje. If he cannot adjust to civilian life then he should put back on his uniform and go back to the barracks. Hapana kana chimwe chete chino shamisira pakuve a trained soldier. Unoda kutyisa ani kuti waimbove musoja? You think that makes you extraordinary or special nekuti waimbove musoja? Ngava dzikame nekukwana ana Rugeje venyu ava.
Mr President, rein in your people and you will hear me say
ELECTION: Mobile BVR Ends
The mobile Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) ends tomorrow with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) ruling out a further extension. Registration will, however, continue at ZEC’s district centres.
Over 5,1 million prospective voters have registered for this year’s harmonised elections, according to the Commission’s website.
ZEC deputy chairperson Mr Emmanuel Magade said in an interview: “Mobile voter registration will end on February 8 and this is now final. There will be no further extension, meaning all those who want to register will now have to do so at our 73 district offices.
“We now need to look at de-duplicating the voters’ roll and clearing any other anomalies. So, de-duplication will come soon after the mop-up and then we will come up with a provisional voters’ roll that will lead us into inspection by the public.
“We should have the final voters’ roll (perhaps) by May, after which we will await the Presidential election proclamation. We can, therefore, say Constitutional timeframes are achievable.”
On election observers, Mr Magade said: “The President has set the tone by saying the United Nations, the European Union and other international observers are welcome. Our own belief, too, is that we have nothing to hide.
“So, we welcome all observers. We are an independent commission and will run the elections according to the law. Observers are welcome as long as they undergo the normal accreditation process. We hope they will not prejudge us and will not come with preconceived ideas, but with objective and open minds.
“Wherever criticism is warranted, we accept that they should criticise. We are willing to listen to criticism and take corrective action where possible just as we have addressed concerns raised during mobile voter registration.”- state media
Mnangagwa Wanted For Murder, Claims Moyo
Professor Jonathan Moyo has made sensational claims that there is an open arrest warrant for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for murder.
Moyo writes on his twitter that the warrant was issued at the Rotten Row Magistrate’s court to the Criminal Investigations Department (Homicide) and was only stopped from being effected by the November coup when former President Robert Mugabe was ousted and replaced by Mnangagwa.

Girl Caught Having Sex With Sister’s Hubby Kills Herself
A love triangle ended tragically when an 18-year-old woman from Harare committed suicide by downing poison after her sister discovered that she was bedding her husband under her nose.
The tragic incident occurred last week when the teenager, Farai Chirara from Ushewekunze area in the outskirts of Harare, ran away from home before committing suicide by drinking poison after receiving death threats from her sister, Memory Mojoko, accusing her of bedding her husband Obvious Mudemba.
The deceased teen, had been staying with the couple, who are both teachers, while waiting for her A’ Level results when her sister started suspecting an affair between the former and her husband resulting in her running away from home.
A relative who spoke on condition of anonymity said when Farai ran away from home Mujoko started sending her messages insulting her with vulgarities and threatening her with unspecified action accusing her of wrecking her marriage.
The relative said Farai went on to drink poison and was rushed to Parirenyatwa hospital by other relatives where she died just after admission.
“It is sad that Memory pushed her sister to committing suicide after sending her messages insulting and threatening her. Farai went to stay with the couple while waiting for her A’ Level results. During the long holiday, it is suspected that she started bedding Mudemba who is her sister’s husband.
“When Mujoko got wind of the illicit affair she started insulting and threatening Farai with unspecified action. Farai fled home and found sanctuary at a relative’s place where she later committed suicide by drinking poison.
“She died on Friday (last week) morning at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals,” said the relative.
The relative added that Farai’s relatives are baying for Mudemba’s blood accusing her of causing their daughter’s death.
“When Mudemba went to Parirenyatwa to check on Farai, he was threatened by the girl’s relatives and they chased him away. What is worrying is that the couple should have resolved the matter amicably because Mudemba might have taken advantage of the girl considering that she was an adolescent,” said the relative.
Contacted for comment, Mudemba confirmed the incident but could not give further details.
“Did you talk to Farai’s parents and hear what they have to say about the issue. Please talk to them first and I will give you my side of the story. Besides it is not me involved but my wife so talk to her also,” he said.
Mujoko refused to entertain the media.
“Who is this? Please you are talking to the wrong person,” she said before hanging up and subsequently switching off her mobile phone.
Farai’s parents could not be reached for comment.| H-Metro

More Trouble For Mzembi
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) is on the hunt for former Foreign Affairs minister Walter Mzembi and other ex-government ministers over the disappearance of over $1 million from donations that several companies made when the country hosted the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in Victoria Falls in 2013.
Yesterday, Zacc commissioner in charge of investigations Goodson Nguni told the Daily News that they now have evidence against Mzembi. “We have been looking for him since last Friday, he said he will hand himself over today (yesterday)”.
“We are also looking for the chairperson of the Gender Commission Margaret Sangarwe (former permanent secretary in the ministry of Tourism) but she fled her home when we arrived there. We know that she is in Harare and we are still looking for her. We took the car she got during UNTWO and it is at our offices. Mzembi has also promised to bring the other car,” said Nguni.
Since Mnangagwa assumed office on November 24 last year, several former government officials, mostly from the vanquished G40 faction, have been hauled before the courts on corruption charges.
None among the current batch of ministers and those who were in the victorious Team Lacoste faction have been charged.
Recently, Nguni said while Zacc’s hands were previously tied during Mugabe’s reign, the anti-graft body was now working without interference under the new dispensation, which has declared zero tolerance to corruption.
Zacc has dominated news headlines after orchestrating several arrests of high-profile politicians and business people since last December when a new era dawned on the country.
Sources at Zacc told the Daily News that the anti-graft body has also engaged border authorities to ensure that none of the targeted ministers — some whose cases are still pending before the courts — skip the country.
According to the Constitution, Zacc can among other things direct the commissioner-general of police to investigate cases of suspected corruption and also refer to the prosecutor-general matters for prosecution.
Sources privy to the investigations said Mzembi and Makombe, working with one Sharon Musarurwa and a Mushoriwa, received money from several companies around 2013 in the name of government but diverted it to their own use.
According to the sources, Mzembi, who is also facing charges of abuse of office also wrote a letter to several companies, including Mbada Diamonds.
Woes are mounting for Mzembi who is due to return to court later this month to answer to charges of abusing his office.
According to State papers, sometime in 2010, the ministry of Tourism and Hospitality in its bid to introduce Fan Parks for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, initiated a motion to acquire LED Public Viewing Area televisions for the public nationwide.
Allegations are that in its bid to get the screens, the ministry applied and obtained funds from Treasury for the purchase of 40 screens amounting to $2 million.
The court heard that the money was deposited into Shanghai Linso Digital Technology Company’s China account as payment for the equipment.
It is alleged that the 40 television screens were delivered and received from China by the ministry of Tourism and entered into their asset registry.
“Accused (Mzembi) criminally abused his duty by intentionally and unlawfully disposing State assets namely 16 PVA television screens by means of donating, loaning or hiring them to various institutions and church organisations without approval from the ministry of Finance.
“The PVA screens are still being possessed by the various institutions and church organisations and are valued at $800 000. Government assets are not loaned to private parties. They are not donated, hired or transferred to other entities without authority from Treasury,” read part of Mzembi’s charge.
On the other hand, former NetOne boss Reward Kangai and other top company executives are also facing charges of having defrauded the parastatal of a whooping $11 million through the selling of airtime and SIM cards.
Kangai, allegedly owned Firstel, a company that was providing services to NetOne and still owes the parastatal $11 million.
In 2016, NetOne chairperson Alex Marufu told the State-controlled media that most of the problems that the company was facing emanated from the incestuous relationship that existed between Firstel and NetOne.
“I must point out an area of concern. A large part of our debtors actually sits with one company and that company is actually owned by the previous management team in their individual capacities. I have a problem with it from a corporate governance perspective, which is why the board is coming and looking at this and saying this possibly cannot be right. The amount that we are owed is as a result of management’s ownership in a company called Firstel,” said Marufu.
Meanwhile, former vice president Joice Mujuru’s spokesperson Gift Nyandoro is also facing arrest by Zacc over yet unspecified reasons.
Nyandoro told the Daily News that he would hand himself over to authorities.
“I don’t have a case to answer and I will gladly go there. I know they want me but I have been home and haven’t fled,” said Nyandoro. Daily News

‘Kazembe Kazembe To Blame For Youth Fundraising Debacle’

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
Sport, Art and Recreation Minister Kazembe Kazembe’ s attempt to seize a youth fundraising programme led to the total demise of the event, ZimEye.com was informed.
The fundraising programme was organised by the Youth Empowerment Programme and it was held at Mucheke Stadium.
The scheduled fundraising match between Harare Giants Dynamos and ZIFA Eastern Region Division One side Masvingo Pirates was also called off after the Glamour Boys’ last minute withdrawal due to political interference.
Youth Empowerment Hub Officials claimed Kazembe imposed himself on the fundraising event thereby jeopardising the whole process.
“We had serious problems because politicians took over the fundraising initiative.
We had to make drastic changes as a result of political interference,” said a member of the organisation.
MAWERE EXPLOSIVE CHATS: Wicknell Blows Open, Exposes Ginimbi’s Sinister Business Deals
Staff Writer | South African based businessman Mutumwa Mawere says the leaked chats with Wicknell Chiyavo are of a truth his, telling ZimEye.com he posted them so as to expose the rot contained there.
Mutumwa posted the explosive chats on twitter, in which Chivayo takes a dig at Ginimbi exposing a fuel smuggling scheme which gives him a staggering R3 million a week. Wicknell claims to Mawere that Ginimbi’s ‘gas’ business is just a cover up for a more sinister business operation.
The explosive chats are leaked just when the South African government has alllegedly busted a cocaine smuggling ring between Mozambique and Zimbabwe connected again to Ginimbi. ZimEye is following up on this report.
On whether there will be justice or accountability in dealing with these sinister business operations, Mawere says, “you find that at some stage Mnangagwa is going to defend them, because who is going to defend it (the ring) it has to be Mnangagwa.”
AirZim Plane Grounded After Bursting Tires In South Africa
An Air Zimbabwe (AirZim) plane failed to travel from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg after it ruptured its two rear tyres on Friday morning.
The flight, Boeing 767, which was being flown by Captain Merna Cremer — wife to Zimbabwe cricket team captain Graeme Cremer — only managed to leave the airport the following morning.
Cremer tweeted that the extended delay was “a result of uneven brake heating” in response to a question by a passenger that follows her on the micro-blogging site.
AirZim corporate affairs and communications manager Tafadzwa Mazonde confirmed the developments in an interview with the Daily News yesterday.
Mazonde said the beleaguered airline had to book its affected passengers into hotels around Johannesburg where they spent the night on Friday.
“The plane could not travel due to a tyre incident but it finally came on Saturday morning. The passengers were given hotel accommodation on Friday night,” he said.
Although Mazonde could not give further details on the cause and effect of the incident, the Daily News has gathered information from its reliable sources in the aviation industry that the incident could have been a result of poor fleet maintenance.
“I understand that investigations are going on to establish the actual cause of the accident but preliminary investigations are that it could have been a result of poor maintenance on the part of Air Zimbabwe.
“Double punctures are extremely rare and that’s why it is pointing to poor maintenance,” said a highly placed aviation source.
It also emerged that the plane had just one spare wheel and had to wait for another plane to travel from Harare to Johannesburg with the spare wheel, which could only be installed on Saturday morning.
“They had gone with just one spare wheel and had to look for another flight from Harare to bring the other one.
“Unfortunately, for the passengers, that other spare wheel was only delivered around 7pm in the evening on Friday and could not be fixed on time for the flight to take off, so they had to wait till the following morning,” the source said.
The incident is the latest manifestation of the rot at AirZim, whose recovery prospects were recently declared to be dead in the waters by Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Joram Gumbo.
In May last year, AirZim planes flights were barred from European Union countries after it failed to meet minimum safety expectations set out by the International Air Travel Association (Iata).
Currently, the troubled airline is operating without the Iata certification and is limited to servicing local and regional routes, albeit with great difficulties.
In November last year, Gumbo told Parliament that AirZim’s planes were “old and noisy” and added that its recovery prospects were very slim given its high indebtedness.
At independence in 1980, the airline had 18 planes in its fleet, but today it is operating at less than a third of its all-time peak.
Operations at AirZim are also weighed down by a $334 million debt it is struggling to repay. Daily News

Gloves Off As Mliswa And Mutsvangwa Fight For Norton
Norton Independent Member of Parliament (MP) Temba Mliswa has declared war on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advisor Christopher Mutsvangwa.
The two are set to face off in a titanic contest for the Norton National Assembly seat in the forthcoming elections.
The pair set the stage for what could be a bruising contest when they were involved in a near fist-fight at an anti-cholera event in Norton on Saturday over who should have given the vote of thanks.
It had to take the intervention of police to restrain Mliswa as he lunged at Mutsvangwa, accusing him of hijacking the occasion to announce his parliamentary bid for the Norton seat.
Mutsvangwa, a former MP for the constituency, dismissed Mliswa as a non-entity and referred to his Norton constituency as a “borrowed seat”.
Reached for comment yesterday, Mutsvangwa said “ah . . . mipengo inonetsa (crazy people are a problem).” He did not comment any further.
Mliswa and the presidential advisor’s short-lived friendship blossomed last year as the Mutsvangwa-led Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) campaigned for Mliswa’s ascendency in the Norton by-elections.
The seat had fallen vacant following the expulsion of Mutsvangwa from Zanu PF.
The garrulous Mliswa yesterday said Mutsvangwa’s return to Zanu PF did not give him an automatic ticket for the Norton seat.
“Mutsvangwa is advised to enter the Norton political arena on his own merit and not rely on his proximity to the president to gain him any measure of political capital.
“The bullying through job title, perceived powers and usurping of positions needs to be nipped in the bud before resurfacing of the violence tag often associated with Zanu PF is allowed to rear its ugly head,” Mliswa said.
“On Saturday, Mashonaland West war vets met to discuss their welfare. Chair Mutsvangwa was to attend but he snubbed his meeting preferring to cause havoc in Norton.
“But then again what contribution would he have made as far removed from their needs as he is?
“Welfare is not top of his agenda. Leaders like Mutsvangwa, who only think of their members when they need to use them but unceremoniously discard them when in a stable position, are treacherous and a discredit to the war veterans.
“It’s time war vets introspected as to the qualities of their leader. “Well, Mutsvangwa, it’s shots fired and you caught me unaware, well done.
“However, take note, the minority will have their say but the majority will always have their way.
“It is only a matter of time and may the best man win and I hope you will be able to congratulate me when that happens.” Daily News
Journalists Fight To “Own” Mnangagwa’s Wife
By Langton Ncube| Journalists from the mainstream media are fighting to “own” the first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa,a local online publication has reported.
State Media journalists have begun fighting those from the private media over Mrs Mnangagwa.
NewsDay reporter, Blessed Mhlanga was on Monday seen leading the pack owing to his stint as the Midlands Bureau for Newsday which made him close to the first lady well before her November 2017 ascension.
Mhlanga, according to newspaper has since the November been shadowing Mrs Mnangagwa acting as her defacto media liaison officer.
Mhlanga was recently tasked with organising a high tea between female media practitioners and the first lady and his approach raised questions.
“Blessed left journalists from the state media and filled the list with people from privately owned newspapers. The first lady had to instruct him to change the list or the high tea would be cancelled,” the source said.
Mhlanga is said to have given talking points to all attending journalists ordering them to stick to the script.
“A number of talking points was drafted and circulated to journalists in a Whatsapp group dominated by Mhlanga whose username has the moniker Bhuru. He ordered the women around telling them what to ask,” our source said.
The high tea which drew various personalities in the media from talk show host Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, Nyaradzo Makombe and other top women in the media had all signs of tension written over it.
According to well-placed voices in the media, there are two camps of scribes surrounding the first lady.
There is a group which is led by Blessed Mhlanga comprising mostly of private media journalists and the other one led by Kudzai Gumbo (who was conspicuous by her absence at the high tea with reports that she is in Dubai) involving those from the state media.
Auxillia Mnangagwa`s goodwill in the public stands at risk as scribes trip over each other trying to impress her.
Observers say the competition to appease her is the reason why her every move has been captured by the media, including simple acts like buying fruit.
Mnangagwa Visits Madzibaba Wimbo
By Langton Ncube| President Emmerson Mnangagwa will Wednesday, visit Madzibaba Wimbo.
Wimbo is brother to the former ZRP boss Augustine Chihuri who Mnangagwa fired last year.
According to Mnangagwa’s official diary, the President is flying to Guruve where he is expected to officiate at an irrigation scheme in the Mashonaland Central province before visiting Wimbo who stays in the same province.
Mnagagwa’s reasons for visiting Wimbo are not yet known.
Wimbo and Chihuri do not see each other eye to eye over the control of the Mount Darwin based apostolic church.
Kwese TV Distances Itself From PSL Broadcasting Rights Bid
Terrence Mawawa
Econet Media has denied reports linking Kwese
TV to the bid for PSL Broadcasting Rights, it has emerged.
Econet has released a statement indicating it does not
have plans to acquire the broadcasting rights now or in near
future.
“Our attention has been drawn to various reports
linking Kwese TV, an entity of Econet Media, to bids
for Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL)
Television Rights.
Econet Media wishes to make it clear that it has not
submitted any bid nor entered into any negotiations
for the said rights and does not plan to do so now or
in the near future.
As part of its strategy in Zimbabwe, Kwese TV has
entered into arrangements with a number of local
sports federations and will continue to develop
further relations with sports organisations.
However the PSL tender does not fall under the
company’s current rollout of products, programmes

In the meantime, it is important to highlight that a

includes the establishment of comprehensive in-
country infrastructure directly and in collaboration
with selected partners to support production of local
sports and entertainment programmes.
Econet Media acknowledges with gratitude the
enthusiastic and overwhelming support it has
received and continues to receive from
Zimbabweans and it will continue to build on its

MUjURU BLUE ROOF ENTRY: Mugabe’s CIO Fired, More Details
ZimEye.com broke this story over the weekend below are fresh details.
Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday fired 17 top State security operatives believed to have facilitated the meeting between former President Robert Mugabe and opposition National People’s Party leader Joice Mujuru in Harare last week.
It is understood that the security agents were reportedly being punished for failing to reveal the intelligence of the meeting before it took place at Mugabe’s Blue Roof mansion in Borrowdale.
According to leaked Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) documents, the top government spooks were served with dismissal letters yesterday.
The letters were signed by new CIO director-general Isaac Moyo and were dated February 5. Among those fired were director of security Albert Miles Ngulube, Andrew Muzonzini (director external affairs), one Changata (assistant director security), Mugabe’s aide de camp Wonder Nyakurima (provincial intelligence officer – security), Gilbert Mudimu (Mashonaland East provincial intelligence officer [PIO]), one Chinyai (PIO for Mashonaland West), and one Rusere (division intelligence officer for Harare Central).
Also axed were Weeds Mazowe (PIO counter intelligence), Tadzingaira Tachivei (assistant director counter intelligence), Dzingai Nhira (district intelligence officer – counter intelligence) and Kizito Gweshe (deputy director counter intelligence).
The dismissals of the spies followed a similar wholesale crackdown on the Zimbabwe Republic Police three weeks ago that saw Mnangagwa reversing some of the sackings.
Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga is in charge of the Defence, Security and War Veterans portfolio.
Well-placed sources within the intelligence yesterday told NewsDay that only four – Ngulube, Muzonzini, Changata and Nyakurima – of the 17 spies were above 55 years, meaning the rest were not yet due for retirement.
“Chiwenga wants to decimate the current CIO since he believes Mugabe and (former CIO boss Happyton) Bonyongwe still have control of serving officers. While only 17 senior officers have been fired now, the total targeted is 300 and Chiwenga intends to replace them with military intelligence officers,” the sources said.
Muzonzini, Changata and Ngulube were reportedly accused of helping former Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo and former Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere to flee the country during the November military operation that led to Mugabe’s ouster.
This, the source said, was despite reports that Moyo and Kasukuwere’s escapewas negotiated by former Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda when the CIO had already been ordered to surrender their operations to the military.
The source added: “The 55-year retirement age cut-off point is not supported by any legislation. It was just an idea that was proffered as part of recommendations to rationalise the civil service, but was never introduced into any statute guiding employment in the civil service.”
The sources said Charles Hwekwete, a former soldier, was reportedly heading a committee appointed by the new CIO director-general to look into the capture of the CIO by Mugabe and the G40 faction.
Hwekwete is former principal staff officer in Chiwenga’s office at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and was earmarked for promotion to the position of CIO deputy director-general.

Simbarashe Mudzengerere, 31 and Paul Chitsa, 46, of Highfield, were arrested for stoning Mujuru and her supporters last week.

The two are appearing in court again today, Tuesday.

Zuma Says: “People Still Love Me!” Hours Before Luthuli Violent Attacks
An adamant President Jacob Zuma told the ANC’s top six during their meeting on Sunday night that the “people still love him.”
This was just hours before the violent attacks outside Luthuli House where his supporters clashed with ANC members, a development now to see the ANC attempting the last kick at Zuma tomorrow, Wednesday.
On Monday Zuma’s supporters arriving clad in Black First Land First (BLF) regalia fought back a number of ANC members, a development that saw police officers descend onto the scene outside Luthuli House in Johannesburg.

News24 reports that on Sunday Zuma refused to step down, telling the party’s leadership that he had done nothing wrong and that only the national executive committee (NEC) had the powers to recall him.
Zuma was confident that he would still get party support that he wanted to make a presentation to the party’s NEC. But his request was rejected by the NWC, which then held an urgent meeting on Monday at Luthuli House.
“They told him we want to start an election campaign and we cannot do it with his face and with him in office with all his baggage, but he told them the people still love him,” a source said.
‘When your organisation says you must go it is humiliating’
The top six also put pressure on Zuma with the prospect that he could be forced out of office via a vote of no confidence already set for February 22 and an impeachment process that could cost him his pension if successful.
However, NWC members said Zuma was undeterred even by the state capture inquiry that will investigate his relationship with his friends, the Guptas, who are accused of looting state coffers.
“Zuma told them that he has survived eight or nine votes of no confidence and he believes he will survive another one. Even his supporters were shocked,” another source said.
“The officials said they tried to tell him that an impeachment or motion of no confidence ‘is bad for you’, but he said to them ‘when your organisation says you must go it is humiliating’,” said another.
The NWC meeting lasted four hours, with some Zuma supporters coming to his defence and arguing against a recall.
“We started the debate all over again on why he should step down, despite the fact that the last NWC had agreed,” another said.
Fired ministers didn’t get chance ‘to argue their case’
The debate ended in the defeat of Zuma’s supporters and the NWC deciding to hold an emergency NEC meeting on Wednesday in Cape Town to decide Zuma’s fate.
The meeting will be held on the eve of the State of the Nation Address (SONA), with some ANC members threatening to walk out if Zuma insists on addressing them.
The last NEC meeting in Pretoria mandated the top six officials to meet with Zuma to engage him on his exit.
“He told the NEC that he wants to make a presentation to the NEC, but it was rejected. One member said the NEC is not a trial and when he fired the other ministers they didn’t come to NEC to argue their case. Like them he is a deployee of the party,” the source said.
Some members now fear that SONA could be postponed if the NEC decides to recall Zuma.
Speaker Baleka Mbete is due to meet with political parties in Parliament on Tuesday following the DA’s call for SONA to be postponed until Parliament “elects a new president”.
The EFF wanted a vote of no confidence to be held before SONA. However, their request was denied, with a date for the motion set for later in the month.

Muchinguri Riles Stakeholders As She Turns Wetlands Day Into Zanu PF Rally
Terrence Mawawa| Water, Environment and Climate Minister Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri stunned stakeholders at the Wetlands Commemoration Day when she turned the gathering into a political rally, prompting some stakeholders to walk out on her.
The event was held at Driefontein Mission in Mvuma, last Friday.
Concerned stakeholders said Muchinguri deviated from the agenda of the day and began to dish out Zanu PF mantra to shocked delegates.
An official from the Environmental Management Agency(EMA), said the sponsors and coordinators of the event were baffled by Muchinguri’ s political grandstanding.
“Her task was very simple. She was asked to express her sentiments on the Wetlands Day and sadly she began to propagate Zanu PF ideologies.
She also chanted Zanu PF maxims at the event. She dismally failed to separate government business from party activities,” said the official.
An irate school head said: “Muchinguri took advantage of the gathering to attack perceived Zanu PF opponents. She also claimed the ruling party had facilitated the whole programme.”

CIO FULL TEXT OVER BLUE ROOF BOOB: Senior Bosses Fired By Chiwenga as ZimEye Revealed Last Week
By Dorrothy Moyo| As ZimEye.com exclusively revealed last week, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially fired 17 top State security operatives for failing to provide intelligence of the meeting between former President Robert Mugabe and opposition National People’s Party leader Joice Mujuru on Tuesday last week.
Leaked Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) documents revealed by ZimEye last week Friday show that the dreaded organisation’s senior bosses have been given the boot.
Vice President Gen Constantino Chiwenga is the one in charge of the Defence And Security Portfolio and the development comes as he met his boss, Mnangagwa soon after Mujuru’s meeting with Mugabe last Tuesday.
Mujuru says she was telephoned by Mugabe for the Tuesday meeting at his Blue Roof residence where he as ZimEye revealed last week, told her that Mnangagwa’s regime is illegal.
The top government spies have of yesterday been served with dismissal letters dated 5 February and signed by new CIO director-general Isaac Moyo.
17 of the dismissed yesterday are above 55 years, meaning the rest were not yet due for retirement, sources told ZimEye.com
The sources say that Vice President Gen. Constantino Chiwenga wants to dismiss a total 300 and replace them with military intelligence officers.
Among those fired were director of security Albert Miles Ngulube, Andrew Muzonzini (director external affairs), one Changata (assistant director security), Mugabe’s aide de camp Wonder Nyakurima (provincial intelligence officer – security), Gilbert Mudimu (Mashonaland East provincial intelligence officer [PIO]), one Chinyai (PIO for Mashonaland West), and one Rusere (division intelligence officer for Harare Central). Weeds Mazowe (PIO counter intelligence), Tadzingaira Tachivei (assistant director counter intelligence), Dzingai Nhira (district intelligence officer – counter intelligence) and Kizito Gweshe (deputy director counter intelligence) were also dismissed.
Jonathan Moyo Offloads Chiwenga’s Military Coup Talking Points
The exiled former ZANU PF Secretary for Science and Education, Jonathan Moyo has offloaded documents he claims are part of Retired General Constantino Chiwenga reasons for the military intervention in November.
Moyo also releases a document he says is part of the minutes of a meeting scheduled to be held between Gen. Chiwenga and former president Robert Mugabe on the 16th November, a day after he, Moyo was raided by soldiers at his property together with his colleague Saviour Kasukuwere.
The military takeover eventually forced Robert Mugabe to resign. Below are Chiwenga’s talking points according to Moyo:
“TALKING POINTS FOR CDF’S MEETING
Politicians to stop reckless utterances against the military which are causing alarm and despondency within the rank and file which may result in anarchy thereby threatening peace and security in the country
The Party to afford every Party member a fair and equal chance of being heard or elected and the whole democratic process to be observed from the cell up and no imposition of candidates.
Cease all purging in the Party and Government and reunite the Party by reinstating all previous victims.
Implement the recommendations of the War Veterans Indaba and reintegrate all war veterans into the mainstream of the Party and Government.
The known counterrevolutionary elements who have foment the current instability in the Party be weeded out both in the Party and Government.
Security of tenure of employment as it relates to the provision of the current Constitution of Zimbabwe.
A clear cut road map for succession in the Party including a […] start and going for a new election in 2018″

‘I Only Inserted A Tip Of My Manhood Into Minor’s Private Parts’
By Terrence Mawawa| An 18-year old Gutu boy who raped minor (6) claimed he only inserted the tip of his manhood into the girl’ s private parts.
“I did not know that it was a crime as I was used to having sex with the girl (6 year old) almost every day.
However, I would insert only a tip of my manhood and the minor would enjoy it.
She pestered me daily for more sex,” said the teenager.
In passing sentence Regional Magistrate Dambudzo Malunga said: “You did not waste the court’s time when you pleaded guilty to raping the innocent minor (6).
The court has also considered your tender age (18) and that you are still going to school(doing Form 4). However, in aggravation you committed a heinous crime by introducing an infant to sex on many occasions.
You will go to jail for a shorter period (6 years) and you can pursue your education while you are in custody, the prison will provide you with that opportunity.”
Tomana Wants To Be Free Following Chiwenga’s Coup

Former Prosecutor-General Johannes Tomana, under charges of criminal abuse of office, since the Robert Mugabe days, has taken the state to court so he can be free.
Tomana has approached the High Court seeking the dismissal of the charges under the basis of the State’s failure to prosecute him within six months set down in terms of section 160(2) of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act (Chapter 9:07).
The humiliated Tomana, was fired and kicked out of work after he was accused of interfering in the Gushungo bombing case, the latter which would have eventually seen President Mnangagwa being roped in as a suspect. The convicted so called “gang” were arrested and charged for allegedly attempting to bomb then President Robert Mugabe’s dairy farm.
Tomana wants an order returning his liberty and release of his bail recognisance held by the State. Tomana was indicted for trial on November 17, 2016 but he has not been tried yet even though his trial was set to commence in February last year at the High Court.
In his application, Tomana is arguing that in terms of section 160(2) of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act (Chapter 9:07), if no trial takes place for a period of more than six months from the committal date, the charges must be dismissed on the basis of the lapse of the indictment.
Responding to Tomana’s lawsuit, the State contends that Tomana and his lawyer Advocate Thabani Mpofu were not prepared for trial as they intended to make a constitutional application, which they did. The State also argues that from the date of Justice Chitapi’s verdict which criticised Ray Goba for lack of professionalism in the manner he was handling the matter, six months have not yet lapsed.
ZESA Refuses To Pay Salary Arrears
ZESA Holdings has not put a provision in its books of over $120 million in salary arrears from a 2012 collective bargaining agreement, a clear indication of the power utility’s decision not to shoulder the liability.
The power utility pleaded financial incapacity to meet obligations for back pay and unsustainable employment costs of the CBA, stating unequivocally it will not concede to pressure from workers.
This is despite the spectre of looming potentially crippling industrial action, which workers recently threatened over the State owned power utility’s reluctance to comply with the 2012 CBA.
Zesa, however, said it does acknowledge that there is a long standing 2012 collective bargaining dispute that is before the courts.
“The power utility reiterates as always, that it has no capacity to pay the substantial back pay and, the unsustainable increase to employment costs arising out of the said Collective Bargaining Agreement.”
Zesa said it made a settlement offer to employees with respect to CBA and “we are happy that an overwhelming majority of the employees accepted the offer”.
“A minority of employees, however, did not accept the settlement offer and continue to press for the payment of salaries and benefits at levels beyond which the Power Utility can pay.”
Previously, Zesa has said that it could not carry inflated salaries bill, especially one arising from the 2012 CBA, without hiking power tariffs.
The utility has not effect an economic tariff hike since 2009.
The Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union says Zesa should not plead financial incapacity at the point of implementation as that should have been brought forward during collective bargaining.
Zesa said recently that it was technically insolvent and may have run up accumulated losses of nearly $500 million by December 2017.
The utility has been making huge losses since 2012 and has indicated it could post $393 million for the year ended December 2017.
It is estimated Zesa had racked up well over $120 million in arrears to workers for unpaid salaries and benefits by end of 2014.
The utility claimed it was constrained to accede to the demands, as they currently stand.
It said to do so would cripple service delivery and further worsen the already precarious financial position.
The CBA agreement provided for Zesa to effect a minimum of $275 and 12 percent grade differentials, 2,5 percent step (notch) differentials, non-pensionable allowance (30 percent of basic salary), $70 transport allowance, $23 canteen allowance (Grade 1 to D2) with effect from January 2012, but did not implement it.- state media
IS CHADZAMIRA TELLING THE TRUTH? Zanu PF Chairperson Says No To Political Violence
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo | Political observers are sceptical of Zanu PF Provincial chairperson, Ezra Chadzamira’ s call for political tolerance before during and after the harmonised elections.
Chadzamira told party supporters in Bikita last week perpetrators of violence would be prosecuted.
“Those who perpetrate acts of violence will be prosecuted. No one will protect perpetrators of violence” said Chadzamira.
Mnangagwa Castigates Opposition Parties “Sprouting Like Demons”
Political parties should not poison their election campaigns through acts of violence, but should instead focus on selling their messages of a brighter future to the electorate by preaching love, peace and unity, President Mnangagwa has said.
Zimbabweans, the President also told a prayer meeting yesterday, had a duty to elect leaders of their choice. Addressing a ZionChristian Church (ZCC) National Day of Prayer for peace and national economic transformation at the National Sports Stadium in Harare, President Mnangagwa deplored the animosity among Zimbabweans, urging the nation to embrace love and unity. “As we do that, then we will be able to foster fair, transparent and credible elections. Love each other and help each other. Let us preach peace during the day and during the night. Let us preach peace wherever we are,” he said.
“The only issue is that you must vote wisely. Vote for a party whose history is well documented and the one which brought about the country’s independence. You must vote for Zanu-PF and shun all these other parties which are sprouting like demons.” The President implored churches to play a leading role in preaching peace, unity and forgiveness, as well as to be ambassadors of Government’s transformative agenda.
Churches, he said, should be active participants in Government’s programmes to grow the economy and create an empowered society. “Churches have to be ambassadors in this economic transformative agenda by helping to build a society free of crime, which shuns corruption and whose values are anchored on hard work, honesty, diligence and integrity. It is, thus, integral for the church to remain as the beam of hope for the world,” he said.
“In church you preach love, you preach peace, you preach unity, you preach forgiveness. We in the political arena, we also preach love. We preach peace. We preach unity and forgiveness. For our nation to prosper, we need to be united. We need to love each other. We need peace and we need to forgive each other.” Turning to the Zion Christian Church, which was established by Reverend Samuel Mutendi in 1913, President Mnangagwa said Government appreciated the role the church was playing in the country’s socio-economic development.
“I recognise the efforts made by ZCC in establishing Mbungo School for the Blind, as well as an orphanage and old age caring centre. Furthermore, ZCC has also established wellness centres in Bikita, Gokwe Centre, Defe and Harare. This must be applauded,” he said. He urged churchgoers to register to vote, saying while God places leaders, voters, in fact, chose leaders.
“I exhort churches to encourage their congregants to register to vote and exercise their democratic right. Yes, it is God who places leaders, but it is the right of citizens to choose leaders.” Government, he said, would ensure ZCC’s request for land to construct a university was approved. “The flag of Zimbabwe unites us, the national anthem of Zimbabwe unifies us, may God bless the church of Zion, may God bless Zimbabwe,” he said.
ZCC’s Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi applauded the Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ Operation Restore Legacy as a miracle for the country. “We had also discussed praying for rains, but you have seen the rains. We want to pray for the new Government led by President Mnangagwa and his two deputies. Today is also a day for ZCC to thank God for granting the army the wisdom to carry out Operation Restore Legacy. To me it was a miracle of the century. How did you feel walking with God?” he said.
“We want to urge the Government to put an end to corruption once and for all,” he said.
“Churches would like to assist your Government. They also want to help Zimbabwe, and to your Government, I say so far so good.” Founder and leader of Family of God Church Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe also complimented the new administration for the ongoing efforts to restore the country’s image.
“I also want to say to you (President Mnangagwa) and your Government that so far so good. I want to thank you, the President, for the various things you are doing for our country. You represented us well at the World Economic Forum in Davos,” he said.
On a lighter, President Mnangagwa, who was earlier asked by Bishop Mutendi to comment on which episode was the most difficult in his life between being on death row before independence or skipping the country after his expulsion from both Zanu-PF and Government, indicated that former situation was tougher.
“VaMutendi (Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi) mandibvunza kuti zvainyanyorwadza ndezvipi: when I was facing a death sentence in May 1965, kana pandakaita border jumper. Kana watongerwa kufa unenge wamirira kuti wofa rini, zvakaoma. Mukati mataigara vamwe vaiwuya vachitorwa …hauzivi kuti zuva rako nderarini. Asi kana uriborder jumper, unenge uchiwona maitiro ekurarama, saka ndakaita border jumper ndikadzoka, tiritese,” he said.
(Bishop Mutendi, you have asked me which was the most painful: when I was facing a death sentence in May 1965, or when I became a border jumper. If you are sentenced to death, you only wait for your time, it’s difficult. In our prisons, some would be taken to their deaths. . . but you wouldn’t know when it was your time. But if you are a border jumper, you are fighting for sustenance, so I became a border jumper, and returned, and now we are together.)
“Zvakaitika panguva iyoyo zvavashure kwedu. Tochitarira kuenda mberi tichiti zvinhu zvakadero munyika muno zvisadzoke zvakare. Ngatitambidzanei kutonga nyika ino murugare, mukuwirirana nekufambidzana.” (What happened then is now behind us. We will always strive to ensure that what happened will never be repeated. We must always hand over the reins of power in the country in peace and harmony).
The event was also attended by Vice Presidents General Constantino Chiwenga (Rtd) and Kembo Mohadi, Cabinet ministers and other senior Government officials. Herald
“Grace Mugabe Made Us Steal”
Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) executives, inspired by Zanu PF’s G40 faction, allegedly colluded to embark on a looting spree, in case the party lost the forthcoming general elections.
Taranhike said he was tasked by Masiiwa to raise $1,77 billion in four months, as the parastatal had failed to service a $206 million loan over years. The CEO said, while the country was battling economic hardships, Zinara executives were living large, and embarking on foreign-sponsored business trips and shopping sprees.
Taranhike told High Court judge, Justice Amie Tsanga that his relationship with Masiiwa had hit rock bottom in 2017, after he allegedly refused to join the G40 faction and was warned he would not make it in life.
“I was recruited in May 2016 and Masiiwa was also recruited during the same year. Since we were both new within the organisation, a lot of things started to be unearthed as a result of the audit and I was the supplier of the information to the audit team,” Taranhike said.
“As new people, we were not implicated in the unearthed shoddy deals at Zinara and I worked very well with the CEO before our relationship went sour.”
The chief finance officer said he remembered sometime last year former Zinara board chairperson, Albert Mugabe invited him and Masiiwa to Meikles Hotel, where he told them they would be “untouchable people in Zimbabwe” if they obeyed and listened to his instructions.
“He then took us to South Africa where he made us signatories to an FNB Bank account and introduced us as his untouchables. When we came back, the CEO demonstrated a lot of power and she would treat her subordinates as if they were nothing. It was apparent that the two of us were being made to remove the old team,” he said.
“We again went to South Africa for a board meeting to discuss the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) loan and while we were in our hotel, the chairman (Mugabe) asked us to stop carrying out the assignment we had been tasked by the Transport ministry and Cabinet, but instead to go for a shopping spree until our business days were over.”
However, Taranhike said he decided to go against Mugabe and, together with Masiiwa, proceeded to carry out their official business and that is when they discovered that “out of the $60m per year payment that was supposed to be paid to service the $206m loan, only $20m had gone through”.
“From the time we left DBSA, we could not talk to the chair until we got to Harare,” he said, adding they later proceeded to inform Transport minister Joram Gumbo of what they had experienced and he warned them of the rot at Zinara.
Taranhike said just after three hours after their meeting with Gumbo, he received a call from South Africa from a person who warned him that he had joined the wrong camp.
“Mugabe also openly told me that I had joined a wrong camp. After three months, the CEO came to me and asked me which camp I had joined. She invited me to a funeral of the late professor [Primrose] Kurasha, where she wanted me to meet Saviour Kasukuwere,” he said.
“She also indicated to me that I was not clever and that between now (April last year) and the general elections, many things would happen.
She said she had bought herself a house and if anything happened, Zinara was going to be responsible, in fact, I was regarded as a trophy for the other executives.”
Taranhike is jointly charged with four other Zinara top executives, who are facing allegations of criminal abuse of office, involving $2 940 588, which they sourced on the parallel market through bogus companies.

Mbeki Speaks On Zimbabwe’s Military Junta
Mnangagwa And Power Women
Tafara Shumba | President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week appointed High Court Judge Priscilla Chigumba as the new Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Chairperson. The appointment comes hard on the heels of other appointments of women in key positions.
The appointment of womenfolk in critical positions shows that President Mnangagwa is gender sensitive. He is rather pro-women. This is against unfounded accusations that he was not gender sensitive when he appointed his cabinet and politburo. Those who accused him did so out of ignorance of the dynamics involved in the appointment of cabinet ministers. The President chooses ministers from a pool of Members of Parliament. He only has a Constitutional leeway to choose only five ministers outside Parliament. Hence, it was not President Mnangagwa who was not gender sensitive but the system that elected the present-day Parliament.
The electorate especially those who are fussy about gender equality and the women themselves must make sure that the next Parliament contains a sizeable number of women representatives from which the President will select his ministers. This will not put the President in a tight position when it comes to appointing a gender balanced cabinet.
The centrality of the positions that women were entrusted with is a clear demonstration of the seriousness that the new administration attaches to issues of gender equity. The whole world is looking forward to this year’s hamornised elections. It is a unique election that is likely to pit new protagonists from the main political parties. After 37 years with former President Robert Mugabe at the helm of Zanu PF, supporters of the revolutionary party will for the first time invest their vote in a new candidate. MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai is not likely to stand in the race owing to ill health. For that reason, this year’s election is generating a lot of interests.
With all that interests surrounding the forthcoming elections, President Mnangagwa has appointed a woman in the name of Judge Chigumba to preside over them. It is an expression of utmost trust in women.
The President has since spelt out that his chief objective is economic revival and the subsequent creation of jobs. He said his administration would focus more on economy than politics. He is not lost to the fact that politics without economics is nothing. In that regard, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority becomes very central in the national agenda of economic regeneration. ZIMRA is the lifeline of the nation for it is responsible for the collection of revenue that makes every Government operation function. That important institution was put in the motherly hands of none other than Faith Mazani. The dynamic woman was appointed ZIMRA Commissioner General with effect from 1 February.
As long as one has the required expertise and experience needed for the job, he or she has an equal opportunity in the new dispensation to be appointed for any position. Ms Mazani brings value addition to ZIMRA, having worked for regional and international institutions as a tax administrator. Mazani will drive the revenue authority with a proficient board headed by an equally competent Chairlady, Willia Bonyongwe. Under the leadership of Bonyongwe, ZIMRA has been surpassing its targets, a trend that Mazani will hopefully maintain.
In terms of section 8 of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act, President Mnangagwa appointed Vimbai Nyemba as the Chairperson of the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ). The authority replaced the State Procurement Board (SPB) that had been gravely infested by corruption. The President has set, as one of his prime objectives, to rid the nation of the vice of corruption. SPB had topped Zimbabwe corruption league table. In 2016 ranking, SPB was ranked second from Zimbabwe Republic Police. That level of corruption contributed to the economic decline as investors were scared to invest in a country where corruption is rampant. In his bid to purge the vice, President Mnangagwa has entrusted a lady to help him in that regard. Hopefully the lawyer will not disappoint. Nyemba should not betray the trust invested in women by the President.
There is also Mildred Chiri, the Auditor General who shook the nation by her exposés. Her reports were quite revealing although they were not followed by action. Instead, she was relieved of her duty under very mysterious circumstances. However, President Mnangagwa reappointed her and she will continue to expose graft in public institutions and provide checks and balances in corporate governance.
With this team of might brigades, corruption will be a thing of the past and President Mnangagwa’s vision of a clean society is not very far.
Rapists, Ritual Murderers On The Prowl- Police
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
Rapists and ritual murderers are on the prowl in and around the city of Masvingo, the police have warned.
The police have also warned local residents to be alert as the rapists and murderers are committing the crimes for ritual purposes.
“We have received several reports about women who are being raped for ritual purposes. The crimes are being committed in Morningside and Clipsham Suburbs.
We are preparing to deploy our members to the said areas.Last week we arrested one man who is assisting us with investigations,” police sources told ZimEye.com yesterday.
Last week Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Charity Mazula warned would be perpetrators of heinous crimes the police were determined to rid the society of antisocial behaviour.
We Have No Cash To Augment Service Delivery Programmes-City Council
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
The Masvingo City Council has no funds to complement its service provision programmes, an official has said.
Masvingo City Council Mayor, Councillor Hubert Fidze told a local community radio station yesterday, the council was battling to upgrade its service provision programmes.
Fidze was responding to complaints raised by local residents about the dilapidated state of roads and the poor quality of water in the city.
Disgruntled residents grilled city council officials over poor service delivery last week.
“The council does not have the funds to rehabilitate the roads in the city.
We do acknowledge that our roads are in bad shape but we are currently grappling with a critical shortage of funds.
We are fully aware of the residents’ concerns and we are trying by all means to take corrective measures,” said Fidze.
Mujuru Shadows Haunts Mnangagwa

Terrence Mawawa
The National People’s Party is involved in a simmering internecine battle with the ruling party, Zanu PF following claims by a State controlled weekly paper that Mujuru and the Mugabe’s are on the verge of forming an opposition party.
Responding to
assertions published by the paper on the purported formation of another party, the NPP said President Emmerson Mnangagwa was scared of losing the coming elections and the President was terrified of shadows around him.
“To demonstrate the panic of the military regime,
Mother Zimbabwe was stoned a few days ago by
hired Zanu PF thugs in Harare’s Glenview Area 8
during one of her routine campaigns of meet the
people tour.
“Such barbaric acts of brutality demonstrate the fear
of the regime and that alone will never deter NPP’s
quest and its other like-minded partners under
People’s Rainbow Coalition to make another
Zimbabwe possible,”said NPP in a statement.
“The regime has no capacity to win a credible, free
and fair election under the sun- should electoral
reforms that promote electoral transparency be
implemented,”argued NPP.
Mnangagwa Rattled By Mugabe-Mujuru Talks
The move by toppled despot Robert Mugabe to join hands with his former deputy Joice Mujuru to mount a presidential electoral challenge against President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF has stirred strong emotions and widened fissures along regional lines.
Mugabe’s electoral alliance with Mujuru, consummated last Tuesday, is being seen as strong enough to rock the Zanu PF ship, now dominated by security sector interests and the Team Lacoste faction, loyal to the new president.
Zimbabwe’s military ousted Mugabe late last year, nearly four decades after he took power.
This culminated in the elevation of Mnangagwa, once one of Mugabe’s most erstwhile trusted lieutenants, to the helm.
Analysts told the Daily News yesterday that Mugabe could be using primitive tribal politics to play Mujuru against Mnangagwa, saying if proven to be true, this could be retrogressive.
They said the strange bedfellows who fell out in 2014 could be out to use the strength of the Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East and Central provinces – dominated by the Zezurus – to increase their leverage in torpedoing Mnangagwa’s presidential bid.
The ruling party has always been a cauldron of ethnic politics, with Zanu PF deeply divided along clan lines, mainly between Zezuru and the Karanga, the two largest clans of the wider Shona tribal grouping.
The erstwhile Zezuru dominance was a consequence of the 1980 division of Zimbabwe into 10 provinces.
Mashonaland (Zezuru) was cut up into four provinces: West, East, Central and Harare; and Masvingo (Karanga) into only two – Masvingo and Midlands (Mnangagwa’s home province); while Manicaland (Manyika) remained undivided and Matabeleland (Ndebele) into three: North, South and Bulawayo.
Members of the Ndebele – related to South Africa’s Zulus, and Zimbabwe’s second largest tribe after the Shona – are also grumbling over long-standing marginalisation which they assert persists under Mnangagwa.
Ndebeles dominated Zapu, until the party was swallowed up by Zanu PF in 1987, in a deal that followed an army assault on Zapu supporters in western Zimbabwe, costing 20 000 lives.
Analysts said Mugabe could be attempting to re-assert Zezuru dominance by giving the Mujuru camp an edge in the forthcoming elections, a move seen as exacerbating clan tensions that risk erupting into conflict at the national level in the post-Mugabe era.
Pedzisai Ruhanya, a post doctoral research fellow with the University of Johannesburg, told the Daily News there are tribal undercurrents over the Mugabe-Mujuru alliance.
Mujuru, the opposition National People’s Party (NPP) president, has told the media that during their meeting at his ‘‘Blue Roof’’ mansion in the leafy suburb of Borrowdale, Harare, on Tuesday last week – the first since they broke ranks in December 2014 – Mugabe told her “ he is not happy with what happened to him which he said is not constitutional.”
Ruhanya, a media and democracy scholar, said: “Although Mugabe’s meeting with Mujuru and his purported support appears to be largely a poisoned chalice, it should worry Zanu PF and president Mnangagwa because of the ethnic fault-line that the party has been refusing to address for a long time where the Zezuru group thinks they are destined to rule Zimbabwe forever.
“This is a coming together of an ethnic group that knows that Mashonaland provinces are the citadel of Zanu PF social base. They want to use that to torpedo Mnangagwa.
“However, we have to take note of the presence of critical Zanu PF players from Mashonaland provinces who can douse this ethnic conspiracy by Mugabe and such characters like (Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement minister Perrance) Shiri, (Vice President Constantino) Chiwenga will play a significant role.
“The other thing is that if Mugabe and Mujuru are framed as ethnic politicians who want to promote Zezuru hegemony on the State, that could backfire, especially given the control of the propaganda and coercive force that Zanu PF has. Most significantly, the military will be the decisive factor in the fight.”
Ruhanya said Mujuru “should know that Mugabe is now virtually a political cadaver whose physical and mental mortality suggest that he is no longer fit for purpose and whose national sentimental value has been washed away by 37 years of misrule and economic plunder.”
Stephen Chan, a professor of world politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, said there was always going to be a series of complex realignments after the change in presidency.
“Mugabe and Mujuru worked closely once, and (ailing opposition leader Morgan) Tsvangirai cannot bring himself to work fully with Mujuru. The so-called alliance is not therefore surprising. I do not see it being more than a temporary measure,” Chan said.
“It cannot gain electoral weight in a short time, and the nation does seem to have moved on from Mugabe. Sentimentalists, and those who missed out in the new alignments around Mnangagwa are jostling for platforms on which to stand.”
Political analyst Maxwell Saungweme said the Mugabe-Mujuru alliance discredits Zanu PF’s Team Lacoste faction and questions Mnangagwa’s legitimacy.
“Other Zanu PF members who were just hanging on to Lacoste due to lack of options will find a home and this weakens Lacoste further. This development also makes people start comparing between Mugabe’s police state and Mnangagwa’s military junta. I am sure people can choose what is better but a comparison between a police and military state is revealing,” he said. Saungweme said Mugabe still has some followers.
“This alliance, if anything, is good news to the opposition. Now the opposition has to be organised under one coalition and take a shaken Lacoste military regime head-on,” he said.
Piers Pigou, senior consultant at the International Crisis Group said, unsurprisingly, the reports of this Mugabe-Mujuru meeting have raised more questions than answers.
“Whilst Mugabe may be uncomfortable now he is experiencing being politically out in the cold, it seems highly unlikely that he would risk jeopardizing the handsome golden parachute he has been given by teaming up with Joice Mujuru who remains politically untested,” he said.
Asked if he got a sense that this all tribal and identity politics by Mugabe playing Mujuru against ED, Pigou said: “I think there are serious unresolved issues relating to ED consolidation in many parts of the country. Ethnic, tribal issues may well be in play.”
Australia-based Zanu PF propagandist and controversial correspondent with the State-run Herald Reason Wafawarova, who fiercely backs Mnangagwa, rejected suggestions that the ruling party was running scared of the Mugabe-Mujuru alliance.
“If there is any panic, the panic is over the possibility of tribal sentiment and rhetoric as a way of trying to mobilise a regionalistic vote for both the NPP and NPF,” Wafawarova said, referring a new party called New Patriotic Front (NPF) believed to be led by former Zanu PF members who were expelled when the military intervened leading to Mugabe’s ouster.
The NPF, linked to the Generation 40 faction, has petitioned the African Union (AU) and Sadc protesting the manner the veteran leader was toppled, and seeking to de-legitimise Mnangagwa’s government and asking the key African blocs to cancel all diplomatic ties with Zimbabwe.
“I do not think this will get any more traction than Zim People First did before it broke into even more irrelevant two tiny little parties,” Wafawarova said, adding: “I do not think those in Zanu PF leadership think Mujuru can bring any form of rejuvenation to G40, let alone to Robert Mugabe. The general perception is that Mugabe is now endorsed as part of our history, domestically and internationally.” Daily News
Chihuri, Wife Isabel Face Arrest
Retired police commissioner-general Augustine Chihuri along with his wife, Isabel, face arrest over theft claims that have been made to the police by a local businessman.
Bigboy Pachirera who alleges that Chihuri impounded five of his motor vehicles and fraudulently changed ownership into his name, reported the allegations at Marlborough Police Station on Saturday.
Also included in the police report are senior officers in the Zimbabwe Republic Police namely Godfrey Manyonga, Lovemore Nxumalo, Alexander Jachi and Superintendent Marodza.
The case has been opened under RRB 3448738 and CR21/02/18 with Chihuri and his former subordinates being charged with criminal abuse of office and theft.
Isabel only faces theft charges as Pachirera alleges she was instrumental in ordering police in taking over his properties, especially his Highfield house valued at $50 000.
“I can confirm that my client has filed a report against Chihuri and other police officials over a spiral of charges ranging from theft to abuse of office. We now await the day when these matters are brought before the courts for justice to prevail,” Pachirera’s lawyer Rungano Mahuni said.
Pachirera’s wife has also opened a separate case against Chihuri, and detectives Joseph Nemaisa, Jachi and Nxumalo on allegations of kidnapping, robbery and theft.
The couple has a pending civil suit at the High Court against the former police boss claiming $2 968 000 for property that he lost and business losses incurred at the hands of Chihuri.
According to Mahuni, Chihuri has offered to compensate some of the property but the parties seemingly failed to reach an agreement.
Chihuri has claimed that Pachirera surrendered the property to him willingly as compensations for a spiral of thefts that he committed after running a parallel company to the former police boss’s Kidsdale Enterprises during his tenure as transport manager.
He claims that Pachirera would divert funds and contracts awarded to Kidsdale Enterprises to his company, Chelnpac Investments (Private) Limited – which was allegedly registered without declaring his interest.
However, Pachirera gave harrowing experiences of how he and his family were subjected to endless torture by members of the police Homicide department after becoming Chihuri’s “target” in 2013.
“At first, I was accused of theft and put into police custody where I was held for seven days before being brought before a court. They would come (police) holding guns at me and force me into signing affidavits one if which gave Chihuri powers to take my Highfield house valued $50 000,” Pachirera alleges.
“When I finally appeared in court I was released because police had over-detained me but they did not stop hunting for me.”
According to Pachirera, in 2014 Chihuri then allegedly formulated theft of motor vehicle charges and held the businessman’s wife hostage to induce to release some of his cars.
“All the cars that they claimed to have been stolen had personally bought them from Zimoco here in Zimbabwe. They all had records my Mercedes Benz ML 350 Formatic and Jeep Cherokee and the three trucks I used in my road construction business.”
In a letter dated December 5, 2017 delivered to Chihuri’s Shawasha residence and private business offices in Alex Park, Harare, Pachirera’s lawyers Mahuni Gidiri Law Chambers demanded damages and that the property must be returned.
“On or about December 22, 2013 you caused the unlawful arrest of our client on allegations of theft. At all material times you knew very well that our client had not committed any offence against you…after his release from custody you ordered the police to harass our client and his family and engaged services of CID Frauds and Homicide to rob and steal our client’s property,” reads part of the letter.
“You ordered that our client’s several motor vehicles be taken to the Vehicle Theft Squad section for verification of whether or not they had been stolen. You and the police caused the change of name on all the motor vehicles into your name(s) and Kidsdale Enterprises a company owned by you.”
Pachirera claims that he lost business after heavy duty trucks that he used to earn a living were also held and transferred into Chihuri’s ownership.
“Since the time you unlawfully despoiled our client of his property, he has lost business and income in excess of $1, 4 million and also suffered personality infringement in the sum of $1 million.
“The value of the property that you deprived our client amounts $470 000 and $50 000 for the Highfield home…he was earning $1000 in rentals from that property and has lost income of $48 000.”
The businessman told Daily News that he could speak openly about the issue fearing for his life because of threats that he received from the police over the issue.
“My residence was kept under police surveillance, each time I went out police would follow me. I got to a point where two armed police officers displaying guns roamed about 100 metres from my residence. I think it is because of the God’s grace that I am alive today,” Pachirera said.
He said whenever they attempted to engage the police Mahuni would be told to comply with any directive that came his way because “the matter was complicated since it involved the boss”.- Daily News

Drama As Woman Denies Hubby Sex To Force Him To Pay Lobola
“We have not slept together in one year and six months. When she returned from her rural home she told me she could not sleep with me until I paid the bride price,” he said.
Chirambaguwa also accused his wife of beating him up and destroying household property.
“She assaults and insults me. She also destroys our household property in the process.
“She beats me up knowing that I will not fight back as she currently has a protection order against me. She is demanding that I pay bride price for her but I cannot do so at the moment as I cannot afford to,” he said.
Chirambaguwa claims that he only assaulted his wife on one incident when she had grabbed his private parts.
“When I assaulted her we were having a fight and she grabbed my private parts. After that I was forced to slap her as a way of escaping,” he said.
“She reported me to the police and I had to pay a fine after we appeared at the Mbare magistrate’s court.
“She then accused me of bribing the magistrate and suggested we come to the Harare Civil Court.”
Chitizira, however, opposed her husband’s application claiming he was the one who is abusive.- state media
Mutsvangwa’s Naked Lies, Blames All Rot On Mugabe And G-40 Alone
Tendai Ruben Mbofana | I was truly flabbergasted when listening to last night’s VOA Studio 7 news bulletin, when Advisor to the President Christopher Mutsvangwa was alleged to have blamed the poor state of affairs in Zimbabwe to what he termed ‘the G40 cabal’.
This line of reasoning by Mutsvangwa is not only to confined to himself, but has become the norm for the ruling ZANU PF party, as they desperately – but, unsuccessfully – try to reinvent themselves as separate from the former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe misgovernance – choosing, instead, to blame all the country’s problems on their party factional rivals – the so-called G40.
Mutsvangwa – as one of the most vocal advocates for this not-so-new dispensation of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa – portrays a very disturbing and not so encouraging picture on the state of affairs in his party and government.
For starters, the act of finger-pointing and excuses has always been a distress signal by ZANU PF, whenever they have run out of new ideas, and are virtually crying out that they do not know how to solve a problem and would rather place the blame squarely on someone else.
They have regularly resorted to this pathetic method since they took power at Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980, when they would firstly, blame colonialism for the country’s problems, then apartheid South Africa, and even so-called ‘dissidents’ and the Mozambique rebel movement Renamo.
The blaming of our country’s problems on ‘dissidents’ – a small band of militants mostly hailing from the Midlands and Mathebeleland provinces – led directly to the monstrous genocide that shamefully resulted in the ZANU PF government massacring at most 50,000 innocent men, women and children.
The governnent, nonetheless, did not stop there with its finger-pointing and blaming others for their own disastrous policies, as in the early 2000s they found a new scapegoat in Western countries, mainly the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US), and their allies.
ZANU PF proceeded further in linking these new foes to local ‘sellouts’ – namely, the opposition, civil rights organisations and the White community , especially commercial farmers.
As usual, ZANU PF sought to resolve this ‘problem’ through brute force – similar to how they ‘dealt’ with the ‘dissident’ issue – as they embarked on an ill-conceived, disastrous and violent land reform program, and atrocities towards any opposition voices.
As to be expected, such irrational responses to serious problems facing the nation, only led to more dire consequences, as severe hunger, economic meltdown, and polarization griped the country.
In recent years, as the ZANU PF blame game lost steam – as they ran out of external forces to constantly point at, and their own power-hunger intensified – they started pointing finger inwards, not in some newfound introspection, but in gruesome factional fighting.
Initially, the then vice president Joice Mujuru-led ‘Gamatox’ faction was blamed for the country’s problems, resulting in embarrassingly messy mudslinging, and their subsequent expulsion from both the party and government.
Nevertheless, the party’s insatiable hunger for power only went a notch higher, as once allies – Mnangagwa and then first lady Grace Mugabe, who helped each other oust Mujuru – turned on each other in typical WWE Royal Rumble fashion!
Mnangagwa’s ‘Lacoste’ faction was now billed against Grace’s ‘G40’, leading to late last year’s ouster of Mnangagwa – who had replaced Mujuru as VP – only for him to make a dramatic comeback a week or so later, fully loaded with military might to remove both Grace’s ‘G40’ and her husband – then president Mugabe.
After Mnangagwa’s ascension to power as the new president of both ZANU PF and the country, the party sought to portray itself as some sort of a completely new creature – separate from Mugabe’s ZANU PF – in what worryingly appeared like a serious case of schizophrenia.
How does this Mnangagwa government and party perceive itself to be different from that of the Mugabe era, yet most of the people in this ‘new dispensation’ were long-serving Mugabe lieutenants – until their expulsion only a few weeks before Mnangagwa’s ascension?
Even those as Mutsvangwa, who were expelled from both party and government much earlier, were very much a part of the Mugabe era as their rivals in the ‘G40’ and ‘Gamatox’ during their regime’s wanton destruction of a once vibrant government.
In fact, as irony has it, Mutsvangwa’s recently quoted comments were allegedly made when he was blaming the current cholera outbreak on poor governance by the ‘G40’, yet when the much more serious and fatal outbreak took place in 2009, he and his comrades were very much in the echelons of power with Mugabe, the ‘G40’, and ‘Gamatox’.
Is Mutsvangwa, his ‘Lacoste’ and military comrades serious that they really do not remember being part of the Mugabe government since its inception in 1980 till only fairly recently?
Or, is he merely being disingenuous…maybe, the deliberate schizophrenia that is so synonymous with politicians in a desperate, but pathetic attempt to hoodwink the people.
Let it be know to the political elite, and their junta, that we – the people of Zimbabwe – has suffered too much from their injustice, atrocities, and misgovernance, such that we have not forgotten – and, neither will we forget – that they ruined our lives.
We know exactly their names – as to who was who in the Mugabe government.
As the Shona adage goes, ‘demo ndiro rinokanganwa, asi muti wakatemwa haukanganwi’, in other words, it is the axe that forgets, but the tree that was felled by it, will never forget.
When the people of the Midlands and Mathebeleland clamour for justice for Gukurahundi, they know who was who, and who did what in that government – so they do not expect to hear empty deceptive messages of denial or shifting of blame.
When the people of Zimbabwe die of cholera, they know who are, and who were, the people in charge of the country.
When families of those killed by the ZANU PF regime and their military counterparts during the 2008 election period demand justice, they know who did it.
When parents can not get cash that they earned, or can not even afford the very basic commodities to feed and clothe their families, they know exactly who did what in the regime.
When school and university graduates can not get the jobs they spent years learning and preparing for, they know who exactly was in the echelons of power for years, whilst the economy was going down the drain, and companies closing.
When billions of US dollars of the country’s resources were being plundered left, right, and centre – we know who were in charge of the various ministries, some of them still basking in the sunshine of the ‘new dispensation’.
We remember EVERYTHING!
So, Cde Mutsvangwa and your partners, please do not take Zimbabweans as suffering from some serious case of amnesia or Alzheimer’s – because our memories are as sharp as ever.
Do not take us for fools, as that would be the greatest mistake this ZANU PF regime would ever make – and could be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back.
We know that the ZANU PF regime has never had – does not have – a workable solution to the long-standing problems bedevilling Zimbabwe – which the party created – and so playing schizophrenic seems the only option left for the ruling junta.
ZANU PF knows that they may be fooling the international community with their ‘new dispensation’ hoax – albeit, not for long – the people on the ground who are suffering know all too well that nothing much will ever change.
