Zim Granny In Viral Degrading Video

By Showbiz Reporter – A Zimbabwean granny has admitted to engaging in a controversial intimate encounter involving herself, a man, and her friend, an act commonly referred to as a threesome.

The unnamed woman detailed the events in a viral video that has ignited heated public discourse and condemnation.

Narrating the incident, she explained:
“We met a man who had booked a hotel for us. He said he was interested in my friend, Milan, from Malawi. I asked, ‘What about my friend—will she be left alone?’ Eventually, the three of us were involved. He paid each of us separately.”
She continued:
“There were two beds, but he pushed them together and slept in the middle. What happened was consensual, and I made my own decisions. It wasn’t in front of kids.”

The video’s release has drawn widespread criticism for the casual tone in which the events were described, particularly since the hotel booking took place during a funeral.

While some social media users have labelled the story as shocking and inappropriate, others have raised concerns about the impact of explicit content circulating online and have called for measures to address such issues.

Authorities have yet to comment, but the incident has sparked broader discussions around personal responsibility, morality, and the role of social media in spreading sensitive content.

Tourist Goes Missing In Matopos National Park

By Tourism Reporter-The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has announced the disappearance of an 18-year-old tourist in the iconic Matopos National Park.

ZimParks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident via a tweet.

He said a search operation involving ZimParks rangers and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is underway.

The terse announcement refrained from revealing the tourist’s nationality, adding an air of mystery to the case. Farawo’s tweet read:

“An 18-year-old tourist is missing in Matopos National Park. @Zimparks reaction team & @PoliceZimbabwe are currently searching for him.”

The disappearance has raised questions about the safety of visitors in Zimbabwe’s national parks, which are renowned for their rugged terrain and diverse wildlife. While such incidents are rare, they underscore the potential risks of exploring the untamed wilderness.

Matopos National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its dramatic granite formations, ancient rock art, and thriving wildlife.

However, its expansive, rocky landscape presents challenges, including disorientation, falls, and encounters with wildlife.

Speculation about the missing tourist’s fate ranges from accidental injury to the possibility of encountering dangerous animals, such as leopards or snakes, which inhabit the park.

While no foul play has been suggested so far, park officials and law enforcement are leaving no stone unturned in their search.

This incident is likely to reignite discussions around safety protocols for tourists in Zimbabwe’s national parks.

Experts have long recommended stricter monitoring of visitors, mandatory use of experienced guides, and enhanced communication tools for emergencies.

As the search operation continues, the world watches with concern, hoping for the safe recovery of the young visitor.

Tourists and locals alike are urged to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines when venturing into Zimbabwe’s wilderness.

Authorities have yet to release further details.

Families and communities with ties to the tourist are anxiously awaiting updates on the unfolding situation.

Safety Tips For Cyclists

When it comes to cycling, safety should always be a top priority. One often overlooked yet crucial element of a cyclist’s safety gear is the tail light or reflector. Just as vehicle tail lights play an essential role in helping drivers see each other, bicycle tail lights and reflectors are vital for ensuring cyclists are visible to other road users, especially from behind.

Enhanced Visibility in Low Light Conditions

Cyclists often ride during dawn, dusk, or at night, when visibility is reduced. Tail lights and reflectors are designed to make a cyclist visible to others, reducing the risk of accidents. Tail lights are particularly effective in low-light conditions or when there is limited visibility, such as on poorly lit roads or in foggy weather. The bright light emitted by tail lights ensures that cyclists can be easily spotted by motorists, fellow cyclists, and pedestrians, even from a distance.

Reflectors, on the other hand, work by bouncing back light from other vehicles. Even without a battery-powered light source, these small, reflective devices can help you stand out in the dark, as they are designed to catch headlights from other vehicles and send that light back in the direction it came from.

Reducing Accidents and Enhancing Road Safety

Bicycle accidents, particularly rear-end collisions, are a significant concern for cyclists. Since they often ride in areas where traffic is moving faster or on roads without dedicated bike lanes, the risk of being overlooked by a driver is high. Bicycle tail lights and reflectors act as a clear signal that a cyclist is present on the road, alerting drivers to slow down, pass safely, and keep a safe distance. This can make a huge difference in preventing accidents and ensuring the cyclist’s safety.

In addition to rear visibility, these lights and reflectors also help to highlight the cyclist’s position on the road, making it easier for vehicles to predict their movement and avoid close encounters. For cyclists who ride in groups, having properly working tail lights can prevent dangerous situations where riders are missed by other road users.

Legal Requirements and Best Practices

In many places, having a tail light or reflector on a bicycle is not just a safety measure but a legal requirement. Laws often mandate that cyclists use lights and reflectors when riding at night or in low-light conditions to ensure visibility. In some regions, the law stipulates that the rear light should be red, and the reflector must be positioned in a specific area to maximize visibility. It’s important for cyclists to familiarize themselves with local regulations and ensure they are complying with safety standards.

Choosing the Right Tail Light or Reflector

When selecting a tail light, cyclists should consider factors such as brightness, battery life, and mounting options. LED lights are often the best choice, as they are energy-efficient and can emit a bright beam visible from far away. USB rechargeable models are also a popular option for those who want to reduce battery waste.

For reflectors, it’s crucial to ensure they are correctly positioned on the back of the bicycle and are made from high-quality reflective materials. Some cyclists opt for both a tail light and additional reflectors to provide maximum visibility from different angles.

Conclusion

Tail lights and reflectors are not just accessories but essential components of cycling safety. By increasing visibility to other road users, they play a vital role in preventing accidents and ensuring cyclists can ride with greater confidence and security. Whether you’re cycling through city streets or on quiet rural roads, make sure your bike is equipped with these critical safety features.

Name Of ZAOGA Pastor Caught Pants Revealed

By Religion Reporter- The senior ZAOGA pastor who was fired following allegations of multiple extramarital affairs with married female congregants, as well as other acts of misconduct, has been identified as Joel Chabume Chinhema.

The Bindura-based Overseer, Joel Chabume Chinhema, was recently fired after a woman from Rusape reported him to the church’s headquarters in Harare for neglecting the two children they share.

The scandal deepened when another woman accused Chinhema of sexual harassment, claiming he had sent her explicit nude photos.

During questioning, the pastor confessed to his misdeeds, leading to his dismissal.

However, the case has sparked outrage across the church as more allegations of misconduct surfaced.

Chinhema, who previously pastored at a city-centre church in Bulawayo, allegedly left a trail of misconduct.

Several women, including widows, divorcees, and unmarried congregants, have come forward claiming he made inappropriate advances, including late-night visits and sending lewd photos.

Despite these allegations, some cases were suppressed, reportedly due to his support from Atoria Gudyanga, the then-Overseer in Bulawayo.

This scandal has reignited longstanding concerns about corruption and immorality within ZAOGA’s leadership.

Allegations have surfaced that some senior pastors, including members of the church’s Transferring Board, exploit their positions to prey on pastors’ wives in exchange for promotions or transfers to lucrative assignments, including postings abroad.

One such case allegedly involves a pastor recently transferred to the UK after his wife fell victim to this abuse of power.

Reports also suggest that promotions within ZAOGA have become transactional.

Since 2017, aspiring Overseers allegedly pay $1,000, while District Pastor promotions cost $500.

Merit-based appointments appear to have been replaced by bribes and favouritism, prompting non-compromising pastors to leave the church in frustration.

These revelations point to a systemic culture of corruption and exploitation within ZAOGA, particularly among members of the Transferring Board.

ZimEye is currently finalising a year-long investigation into the church’s top leadership, which promises to uncover more cases of hidden immorality and corruption.

ZAOGA church and Overseer Chinhema have not yet commented on these allegations as they are unreachable.

Mnangagwa Throws Lavish Party for Wife Amid Economic Struggles

By A Correspondent

In a move that has sparked widespread debate, Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, hosted a lavish celebration in Chiweshe on Saturday to honor his wife, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, after she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the Midlands State University. The extravagant event, featuring speeches, performances, and an air of opulence, drew attention not only for its lavish nature but also for the stark contrast it presented against the backdrop of the country’s deepening economic crisis.

As Zimbabwe grapples with soaring inflation, unemployment, and shortages of basic goods, many citizens and political commentators are questioning the timing and necessity of such a grand celebration.

The country is enduring one of its most challenging economic periods in recent history, with ordinary Zimbabweans struggling to make ends meet amid escalating prices and a deteriorating standard of living.

While the first family’s celebration was seen as an occasion to mark Dr. Mnangagwa’s academic achievement, critics have raised concerns about the growing disconnect between the elite’s ostentatious displays of wealth and the reality faced by millions of Zimbabweans. “It is disappointing to see such a lavish display of wealth when the majority of the population is suffering from the consequences of government policies and economic mismanagement,” said one political analyst.

Adding to the controversy, some academics have questioned the authenticity of Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa’s PhD.

There are claims that the research and work required for the degree may not meet the rigorous standards expected of such a prestigious academic award. Critics argue that the rapid conferment of the degree and the lack of transparency surrounding her academic journey could undermine the credibility of the award.

In response, the First Lady has maintained that her academic pursuit was legitimate and that she worked diligently for her qualifications, emphasizing the importance of education in empowering individuals, especially women.

Despite these assertions, skepticism remains among various academic circles, with some raising questions about whether political connections played a role in her academic success.

The lavish party and the ensuing controversy come at a time when the country’s leadership is under increasing scrutiny for its handling of the economy and social issues.

The stark contrast between the elite’s celebratory events and the suffering of ordinary Zimbabweans has raised uncomfortable questions about priorities.

While the Mnangagwa family’s celebration may have been intended to showcase the First Lady’s personal accomplishment, it has inadvertently highlighted the growing divide between Zimbabwe’s ruling class and its citizens.

As Zimbabwe continues to battle economic hardships, many will be watching closely to see how the government addresses the concerns of its people.

The Mnangagwa family’s opulent celebration serves as a stark reminder of the deepening political and economic divisions that threaten to further alienate the country’s leadership from the very citizens they govern.

Prominent Kadoma Businessman Gunned Down

By Crime and Courts Reporter- A Prominent Kadoma businessman and farmer, Eric Tambudze was assasinated in a gold mafia that has implicated Zanu PF, Gokwe Kabuyuni Member of Parliament, Spencer Tshuma.

Tambudze, a well-respected entrepreneur involved in farming, pharmaceuticals, gold mining, and retail, was fatally shot at his Kadoma home in early November.

His son, Leslie, confirmed the tragic event, stating, “My father was shot dead upon arriving home from work last Friday.”

Police have acknowledged the case and are actively investigating, though no arrests have been made so far.

Sources close to the matter allege that Tshuma, a prominent businessman himself, hired hitmen from South Africa to execute Tambudze following a heated land dispute.

Tshuma, who owns Spencer Fuels—a fuel station on the outskirts of Kadoma—had reportedly seized land near his business for expansion.

The land, however, legally belonged to Tambudze, who successfully contested the fraudulent acquisition in court.

Despite the legal ruling in Tambudze’s favour, Tshuma is said to have refused to relinquish the property.

Construction had already begun, escalating tensions between the two men.

Following his court defeat, Tshuma allegedly resorted to violence, hiring hitmen to resolve the matter permanently.

The murder has shocked the Kadoma community and reignited public scrutiny of Zanu PF officials often linked to gold smuggling syndicates and illicit land deals.

Tshuma himself is rumoured to have deep connections to Zimbabwe’s gold mafia, a network accused of laundering money and exploiting the country’s natural resources.

Efforts to reach Tshuma for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone remained unreachable.

Exploring Facial Similarities Between Two Individuals: A Closer Look

It is important to approach discussions about relationships and appearances with respect, empathy, and sensitivity. Suggesting that two people cannot be romantically involved simply because they look alike can reinforce harmful stereotypes or assumptions that lack validity. Many couples might share similar physical features, whether due to shared ethnicity, regional heritage, or coincidental similarities. These traits do not necessarily imply a familial or non-romantic connection. People often connect on deeper emotional, intellectual, and spiritual levels that transcend physical appearances. Moreover, facial resemblance between individuals can be subjective and influenced by bias or perception. It’s crucial to refrain from using appearance alone as a metric for questioning relationships, as doing so can diminish the authenticity and depth of human connections.– ZimEye

Outrage As: Tendai Biti Awarded Rule of Law Prize Despite Assisting Mnangagwa Break The Law And Destroy Parliamentary Freedoms

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – In a development that collapses public trust in the Law Society of Zimbabwe, former Harare East MP and lawyer Tendai Biti has controversially received the 2024 Walter Kamba Rule of Law Award, despite mounting evidence that he directly facilitated Emmerson Mnangagwa’s destruction of Zimbabwe’s parliamentary democracy. While the award is meant to honor contributions to justice and the rule of law, Biti’s role in aiding Mnangagwa’s rise in the SADC condemned 2023 electoral aftermath and shielding his regime from accountability, has been exposed in damning detail.

https://x.com/zimeye/status/1868150897378791431?s=46

The Law Society posted a picture of Biti holding the golden trophy, amid smiles before the cameras.

The Role Biti Played in Protecting Mnangagwa’s Regime.

Far from being an accusation, evidence shows that Tendai Biti actively enabled Mnangagwa’s regime to solidify its control over Zimbabwe’s political system, undermining democratic institutions and disenfranchising the Zimbabwean people.

Human rights advocate Comfort Dondo exposed Biti for sabotaging key efforts to hold Mnangagwa accountable for his unconstitutional seizure of power and election rigging. Dondo provided detailed accounts of how Biti ignored multiple opportunities to challenge Mnangagwa’s regime, including refusing to pursue legal actions that could have led to Mnangagwa being banned from international platforms like the African Union (AU) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

In one of the most damning revelations, Dondo revealed that in September 2022, Biti abandoned a well-planned mission in Zambia designed to secure a legal ruling that would expose Mnangagwa’s crimes against democracy, particularly his role in orchestrating the 2018 coup.

Dondo stated:
“Biti’s failure to follow through was not accidental. He deliberately turned his back when Zimbabwe needed him the most. The evidence was there—broadcast proof of Mnangagwa’s crimes during the 2018 coup—but Biti chose to protect the dictator rather than fight for the people.”

As a result of Tendai Biti’s aiding and abetting of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s law-breaking, Zimbabwe has suffered severe consequences:

1. Destruction of Parliamentary Democracy: Lawmakers have been stripped of their ability to pass competent laws, leaving legislative processes paralyzed and undermining governance.

2. Loss of Legal Freedoms: The ability to legally challenge Mnangagwa’s government on its law-breaking has been eroded, silencing critical accountability mechanisms.

3. Collapse of the Opposition: Biti’s “Anga Apera Ega” operation directly contributed to the destruction of the opposition, weakening its capacity to counter ZANU PF’s dominance.

4. Human Rights Abuses Go Unnoticed: A weakened opposition has paved the way for a new era of unchecked human rights abuses, with violations likely to go unchallenged and unaddressed.

These outcomes collectively signify a grim reality for Zimbabwe’s democracy and rule of law

Ignoring Opportunities to Protect Democracy.

Dondo’s exposé goes further, showing how Biti ignored warnings from allies and legal advisors that could have prevented ZANU PF from manipulating the 2023 elections. In March 2023, it was reported that Biti was informed of a Justice Ministry directive to block him from contesting elections. Instead of taking legal or political action, Biti ignored the warnings, allowing ZANU PF to proceed unchallenged in sabotaging the opposition’s democratic efforts.

Furthermore, Biti’s refusal to act in 2022—when he was presented with an opportunity to secure a United Nations-level ruling against Mnangagwa—has been described as a turning point that allowed the regime to gain international legitimacy despite its blatant disregard for the will of the people.

“Biti didn’t just fail to act; he actively shielded Mnangagwa,” said critic, Baba Jukwa. “This was not incompetence. It was a calculated betrayal of the people of Zimbabwe. By the time the 2023 elections came, Mnangagwa was stronger than ever, and Biti’s actions—or inaction—were directly responsible.”

How Biti Sabotaged the Opposition.

The fallout of Biti’s actions was most visible within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Zimbabwe’s main opposition party. Despite claiming that CCC colleagues sabotaged his political career, evidence points to Biti’s own actions as the root cause of his downfall.

Biti’s public blame of CCC leaders such as Allan Markham, whom he accused of “rigging” internal processes, has been widely discredited. Instead, Dondo and other insiders revealed that Biti alienated himself from the party by prioritizing personal grievances over collective strategies to challenge ZANU PF’s authoritarian grip.

Complicity in Destroying Parliamentary Democracy.

Biti’s role in enabling ZANU PF’s destruction of parliamentary democracy has been laid bare. Evidence confirms that he had both the legal tools and political leverage to challenge Mnangagwa’s regime but consistently chose not to act. By failing to stand against ZANU PF’s manipulation of Zimbabwe’s institutions, Biti effectively abandoned the millions of Zimbabweans who relied on him to uphold the principles of justice and democracy.

A Controversial Award Amid Betrayal

The decision to honor Biti with the Walter Kamba Rule of Law Award has been met with widespread condemnation. Many Zimbabweans see the award as a mockery of the rule of law, given Biti’s proven role in enabling the regime responsible for dismantling the country’s democratic framework.

“What rule of law?,” asked Ruyedzo Mutizwa, writing on X.

“This award is an insult to the millions of Zimbabweans who suffer daily under the very dictatorship that Biti helped strengthen,” said one commentator.

Legacy of Betrayal

Tendai Biti’s legacy is now mired in betrayal. Once seen as a champion of democracy, the evidence shows that he prioritized his own political survival over the people of Zimbabwe. His refusal to confront Mnangagwa’s regime, despite having the power to do so, not only cemented the dictator’s position but also destroyed any hope for parliamentary democracy in Zimbabwe.

The Walter Kamba Rule of Law Award, instead of celebrating his achievements, has become a symbol of Zimbabwe’s fractured opposition and the devastating consequences of political betrayal. For many Zimbabweans, Biti’s award is a painful reminder of how those entrusted with defending democracy can instead enable its destruction.

The Law Society did not respond to requests for comment.

As the backlash grows, Biti remains silent, leaving unanswered questions about his actions and the irreversible damage they have caused to Zimbabwe’s democratic aspirations.

Mnangagwa Targets Prophets For Tax Revenue

By A Correspondent

In a surprising move, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration, grappling with financial strain, is now targeting churches to bolster its dwindling revenues.

This decision has been viewed as a desperate attempt by the government to shore up its ailing coffers.

On Thursday, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) issued a public notice addressing churches across the country, outlining tax guidelines and inviting them to an upcoming stakeholder engagement. The statement read:

“PUBLIC NOTICE:
NOTICE TO ALL CHURCHES

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) wishes to inform all churches about an upcoming Stakeholder Engagement. This forum aims to address tax compliance across all applicable tax categories, as part of ZIMRA’s commitment to transparency and compliance support. The date and venue for the engagement will be communicated in due course.”

The notice also provided important tax guidelines for churches, detailing both exempt and taxable income. According to ZIMRA:

“Exempt Income
The following types of income are exempt from income tax: • Donations, Tithes, Offerings, and Contributions: Income received or accrued from donations, tithes, offerings, or contributions made by members or benefactors of the church or its institutions.

  • Non-Trading Receipts: Any income that does not arise from trade or investment activities conducted by or on behalf of the church or its institutions.”

However, the notice clarified that income generated from trading activities would be subject to taxation. “Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • Proceeds from the sale of church literature, books, or music.
  • Revenue from church-branded merchandise (e.g., apparel, anointing oils, artifacts, etc.).
  • Income from the sale of meals, clothing, or other similar items.
Such sales may also attract Value Added Tax (VAT), depending on the sales thresholds.”

This move has raised concerns about the potential financial strain it could place on churches, already grappling with economic challenges.

Summary of the Proposed Broadcasting Services Amendment Bill, 2024

The Broadcasting Services Amendment Bill, 2024 seeks to amend Zimbabwe’s Broadcasting Services Act [Chapter 12:06] to align it with the Constitution and the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act. It introduces significant changes to broadcasting laws, aiming to modernize and enhance governance, technological adoption, inclusivity, and regulatory practices. Below are the key highlights of the proposed amendments:

Key Objectives

1. Alignment with Constitution: Modernizing provisions to reflect rights such as freedom of expression under Section 61 of the Constitution.

2. Technological Advancements: Adapting licensing and service classifications to keep up with technological progress, including new forms of broadcasting like subscription management and satellite uplinks.

3. Governance and Transparency: Streamlining the structure and operations of the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards.

4. Encouraging Local Content: Promoting local language programming and culture while balancing commercial needs.

Main Provisions

Broadcasting Licenses

New License Classifications: Introduces new classes such as subscription broadcasting, community broadcasting, satellite uplink systems, and subscription management services.

Foreign Ownership: Allows up to 40% foreign ownership in broadcasting entities to encourage investment while maintaining majority Zimbabwean control.

Community Radio Support: Community broadcasting services will receive funding from the Broadcasting Fund, recognizing their non-profit nature.

Regulatory Adjustments

Gender Balance in BAZ Board: Reduces board members from 12 to 7 and ensures gender representation.

Transfer of Licenses: Licenses can only be transferred with BAZ’s written consent.

Compliance and Penalties: Introduces civil penalties for non-compliance and mandates content quotas for local programming.

Public Service Obligations

Licensees must broadcast in all languages spoken in their service areas, promoting linguistic inclusivity.

Public broadcasters must allocate 75% of programming to local content across all channels and ensure at least 50% local content on sports channels.

Licenses must allow three public broadcaster channels on subscription platforms, one of which must be unencrypted.

Modernizing Broadcasting Regulation

Focus shifts from “control” to “management” of broadcasting bands to dispel concerns of state interference and align with international practices.

Flexibility in license applications, with processes now based on technological advancements.

Foreign programming is exempted from obligations to broadcast government policy.

Content and Local Participation

Community radio stations must involve local communities in decision-making, program selection, and governance.

New quotas require broadcasters to reflect Zimbabwean attitudes, values, and aspirations.

Technological Advancements

Introduces policies for managing migration to advanced broadcasting systems and digital platforms.

Establishes requirements for independently commissioned content and recognizes social media platforms as broadcasting tools during national events.

ZBC Radio License Enforcement

Motor insurance and vehicle licenses cannot be issued without proof of a ZBC radio license or a declaration that the vehicle does not have a radio receiver.

Corporate Governance Provisions

Limits terms of office for BAZ board members and senior executives to a maximum of two four-year terms.

Mandates performance-based contracts and full public transparency in hiring processes for key positions.

Ensures regional and gender representation in senior appointments.

Impact on Stakeholders

1. Public and Community Engagement: Emphasis on public participation, especially in community broadcasting.

2. Broadcasters: Greater responsibility to provide inclusive programming and adhere to local content requirements.

3. Investors: New opportunities for foreign investment, capped at 40%.

4. Citizens: Better access to diverse, locally relevant, and culturally reflective programming.

The Broadcasting Services Amendment Bill, 2024 aims to modernize Zimbabwe’s broadcasting framework, improve inclusivity, and reflect constitutional freedoms. While promoting technological progress and investment, it also seeks to enhance local cultural expression. However, the enforcement of ZBC radio licenses through vehicle registration processes could face criticism as an administrative burden on motorists.

Bulawayo Council Likely Killing School-Kids After Cutting Water Supplies

By Farai D Hove | Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) is facing the possibility of massive lawsuits after cutting off water supplies to 59 schools in a bid to recover outstanding debts. The drastic move, which affects nearly 30% of the city’s educational institutions, has sparked outrage among parents, educators, and human rights advocates, who argue that the decision not only endangers vulnerable children but also violates constitutional and international human rights laws.

Mounting Debts and Aggressive Recovery Measures

The council’s latest report reveals a growing financial crisis, with total debtors’ figures soaring to ZiG712.6 million by the end of September 2024, a 21% increase from the previous month. Of this, domestic users account for the majority (US$19.4 million), followed by industrial and commercial debtors (US$7.3 million) and the government (US$1.8 million).

In response, the council has launched widespread debt recovery measures, including issuing final demands and disconnecting water supplies. Among those targeted were 59 schools that owed US$607,419 collectively. The council’s report shows this was part of broader efforts, including disconnections to 461 homes in Nkulumane and engagement with over 873 companies.

However, critics argue that targeting schools is not only a public health and educational risk but also a breach of legal and ethical standards.

Legal and Human Rights Implications
1. Constitutional Violations:
The Zimbabwean Constitution (2013) guarantees the right to safe, clean, and potable water under Section 77. By cutting off water to schools, the council is accused of contravening this fundamental right, particularly as it affects children, who are considered a vulnerable group under the law.
2. Education Rights at Risk:
Zimbabwe’s Education Act obligates the state to ensure schools operate in a safe and conducive environment. Disrupting access to water undermines this obligation, jeopardizing hygiene, food preparation, and overall health, potentially leading to school closures.
3. International Commitments:
Zimbabwe’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) places an obligation on the government to prioritize the rights of children and ensure access to essential services. The disconnections violate children’s rights to education, health, and an adequate standard of living.
4. Legal Precedents:
Legal experts cite cases like Mazibuko v City of Johannesburg (2009) and Residents of Bon Vista Mansions v Southern Metropolitan Local Council (2002) from South Africa, where courts ruled that water disconnections without adequate alternative arrangements violated human rights. Similar arguments could be used in potential lawsuits against the BCC.

Public Health and Safety Risks

The water disconnections have raised fears of public health crises, including the spread of waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid, which have plagued Zimbabwe in recent years. Schools rely on water for basic sanitation and hygiene, with the lack of access posing a serious threat to students’ well-being.

The disconnections also risk disrupting education, as unsanitary conditions could force schools to close or reduce attendance. With Bulawayo schools already under pressure, this decision threatens to exacerbate existing challenges in the education sector.

Backlash and Lawsuit Threats

Parents, teachers’ unions, and human rights organizations have condemned the council’s actions, with some preparing to take legal action. Advocates argue that the BCC has failed to uphold its duty to protect children and their rights, prioritizing debt recovery over public welfare.

“We cannot stand by while our children’s health and education are put at risk. The council has ignored constitutional and international obligations in favor of a shortsighted financial strategy,” said a spokesperson for a coalition of advocacy groups.

Calls for Alternatives

Critics are urging the BCC to explore alternative debt recovery measures, such as:
• Negotiating payment plans with schools.
• Seeking subsidies or assistance from the central government.
• Reallocating resources within the council’s budget.
• Using targeted legal action for major commercial and industrial defaulters instead of blanket disconnections.

A Balancing Act: Fiscal Responsibility vs. Human Rights

The BCC’s actions highlight the tension between financial sustainability and protecting basic human rights. While the council’s financial crisis is undeniable, its methods have drawn widespread criticism, with calls for greater accountability and a more compassionate approach to debt recovery.

As potential lawsuits loom, this controversy may set a significant legal precedent for balancing local government financial pressures with human rights obligations. For now, Bulawayo faces both a public relations crisis and a legal battle that could shape its governance and reputation for years to come.

Latest On Elections In Namibia

By A Correspondent

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), which has been accused of irregularities, has been directed by the Electoral Court to release the election material requested by the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) for inspection. “The court ordered that the inspection be done on the 18th of December 2024,” as stated by The Windhoek Times on Friday.

The IPC had filed an urgent application to inspect the 2024 election materials in an effort to challenge what they described as a “widely condemned sham election.” The party has rejected the outcome of the election and is seeking its nullification. Moreover, the IPC chose to boycott the ceremony where the poll results were announced.

Mnangagwa Bribes Traditional Leaders With Fishing Rigs

By A Correspondent

In a move that has sparked political controversy, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has provided fishing rigs to traditional leaders in Binga as part of a larger Presidential initiative aimed at empowering communities. While the government has hailed the scheme as a means of supporting local livelihoods, particularly in regions reliant on the Zambezi River for fishing, opposition figures have accused the President of using the initiative to bribe traditional leaders and secure political loyalty.

“Mnangagwa yet again bribing traditional leaders,” said an opposition Member of Parliament (MP) on Saturday, underscoring the growing concerns over the political implications of the fishing rig distribution. According to the MP, this gesture was nothing more than a calculated move to buy support from traditional authorities ahead of upcoming elections. The opposition has long criticized Mnangagwa’s administration for using state resources to sway political allegiances.

However, the government has framed the fishing rig initiative as part of its broader empowerment agenda, with officials emphasizing its role in improving the economic conditions of the community. “Empowering communities is a key priority in the Second Republic,” said a government spokesperson. The initiative, which includes providing fishing rigs to both traditional leaders and local women and youth, is seen as a direct effort to foster economic growth in Binga, where fishing is a critical source of income.

Binga is located in the northern part of Zimbabwe, along the banks of the Zambezi River, where fishing is not just a livelihood but a cultural tradition. The government’s assistance has been well-received by many in the district, as it enables communities to increase their productivity and improve their standard of living. According to local officials, the rigs provide a much-needed boost for the fishing industry in the region, which has faced numerous challenges over the years.

Despite these positive outcomes, critics argue that such initiatives are politically motivated. They claim that the distribution of resources such as fishing rigs is a form of patronage, aimed at consolidating power and ensuring continued support from key local leaders. By offering tangible resources, such as fishing rigs, the government seeks to create a network of loyal supporters, critics contend.

This controversy highlights the deepening divide in Zimbabwean politics, with the ruling party and the opposition continuing to clash over the intentions behind government programs. While the government touts the fishing rigs as a means of economic empowerment, many see them as a thinly veiled attempt to influence the upcoming elections.

The Binga fishing rigs program exemplifies the broader tensions in Zimbabwe, where political power and resource distribution are often intertwined. Whether this initiative will indeed help empower communities or simply serve as a tool for political manipulation remains to be seen. As the political climate heats up in the run-up to elections, the debate over the government’s methods and motives is likely to continue.

In the end, the fishing rigs may provide immediate benefits to those who rely on the Zambezi River for their livelihood. However, the longer-term impact on Zimbabwe’s political landscape is still uncertain.

Mnangagwa’s Foreign Trips and Plight of Ordinary Zimbabweans

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe struggles with severe economic challenges, the country’s leadership continues to spend lavishly on foreign trips, raising concerns over the misuse of state funds while citizens grapple with poverty. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent return from Botswana on Friday evening highlighted this troubling trend, with government officials lining up at the airport to welcome him.

At the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Vice President General (Retired) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga led a long list of officials, including the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Martin Rushwaya, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr. Nick Mangwana. These individuals, part of the political elite, made a grand display of receiving Mnangagwa, yet their extravagance stands in stark contrast to the dire conditions faced by the majority of Zimbabweans.

For years, the government has been criticized for spending vast sums of money on foreign trips, despite the country’s worsening economic situation. Such spending continues to be seen as an unnecessary luxury at a time when Zimbabweans are facing joblessness, poverty, and a failing healthcare system. Many Zimbabweans have voiced their frustration over the government’s priorities, arguing that the funds spent on these trips could be better used to address pressing domestic issues, such as food insecurity, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

The sight of government “fat cats” at the airport, participating in an ostentatious reception for the President, exemplifies the deepening divide between the ruling class and the suffering masses. While the political elite enjoy the fruits of state resources, ordinary Zimbabweans are left struggling to make ends meet. With unemployment rates soaring and inflation crippling daily life, many Zimbabweans are left wondering how the government can justify such lavish displays of wealth while citizens go without basic necessities.

While Mnangagwa’s foreign trips may be marketed as vital for diplomacy and national interest, the excessive expenditure on these journeys raises serious questions about the government’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of its people. The government must reflect on its priorities and consider redirecting state resources to sectors that directly impact the well-being of Zimbabweans. Only then will the country begin to address the pressing challenges faced by its citizens, rather than further perpetuate the cycle of inequality and neglect.

Top ZAOGA Pastor Caught Pants Down

By Religion Reporter- A senior ZAOGA pastor has been dismissed following allegations of multiple extramarital affairs with married female congregants, as well as other acts of misconduct.

The Bindura-based Overseer, whose name will soon be disclosed, was recently fired after a woman from Rusape reported him to the church’s headquarters in Harare for neglecting the two children they share.

The scandal deepened when another woman accused the Overseer of sexual harassment, claiming he had sent her explicit nude photos.

During questioning, the pastor reportedly confessed to his misdeeds, leading to his dismissal.

However, the case has sparked outrage across the church as more allegations of misconduct surfaced.

The Overseer, who previously pastored at a city-centre church in Bulawayo, allegedly left a trail of misconduct.

Several women, including widows, divorcees, and unmarried congregants, have come forward claiming he made inappropriate advances, including late-night visits and sending lewd photos.

Despite these allegations, some cases were suppressed, reportedly due to his support from the then-Overseer in Bulawayo.

A hearing was convened in Harare, during which substantial evidence was presented. This included a phone containing explicit photographs of the overseer and medical records indicating the use of medication for the treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

ZAOGA has not yet commented on these allegations.

ED Fires Chiwenga-Aligned Masvingo Executives

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF has dismissed two prominent Masvingo provincial executives, Roy Bhila, the Chiredzi North MP, and Benjamin Ganyiwa, the Gutu East MP.

The move is viewed as part of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ongoing purge of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s allies.

The dismissals underscore the escalating factional battles within Zanu PF, with Masvingo Province emerging as a critical stronghold for Chiwenga.

Both Bhila and Ganyiwa have long been associated with the Vice President’s camp, a factor that appears to have triggered their removal.

Benjamin Ganyiwa was accused of treachery and sowing divisions within the party.

A letter from the Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Disciplinary Committee detailed charges of hosting a secret meeting under the pretense of a groundbreaking ceremony and failing to reprimand anti-Mnangagwa sentiments expressed in a WhatsApp group he managed.

The charges were framed under Article 37, Section 549 of the Zanu PF Constitution, which targets disloyalty and behavior that undermines party unity.

However, sources claim the accusations are politically motivated, aimed at silencing Ganyiwa’s support for Chiwenga in Masvingo, a region where grassroots backing for the Vice President runs deep.

Similarly, Roy Bhila faced a prohibition order for his open dissent against Mnangagwa’s ED2030 Agenda and his criticisms of corruption within party ranks.

Bhila publicly condemned land grabs by Mnangagwa-aligned officials during a Chiredzi council meeting, a move that marked his defiance against the dominant faction.

Despite his loyalty to Zanu PF, evidenced by record-breaking vote counts in both the 2018 and 2023 elections, Bhila’s suspension has been viewed as a strategic move to weaken Chiwenga’s influence in Masvingo.

His vocal support for constitutional principles and resistance to Mnangagwa’s authority made him an easy target in the factional purge.

Masvingo Province has become a focal point in the Mnangagwa-Chiwenga power struggle.

The region’s strong support for Chiwenga has made it a battleground where pro-Mnangagwa officials like Provincial Minister Ezra Chadzamira have sought to consolidate power.

Chadzamira, a staunch backer of Mnangagwa’s ED2030 Agenda, has been implicated in controversial land seizures, fueling discontent within the province.

Bhila’s opposition to these practices has made him a polarizing figure and a rallying point for Chiwenga’s supporters.

The dismissals of Ganyiwa and Bhila highlight the broader factional rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, a conflict that has simmered since the 2017 military coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

While the two initially presented a united front, underlying power struggles have since escalated, with both camps employing political maneuvers to undermine each other.

Mnangagwa has systematically sidelined Chiwenga’s allies, particularly in provincial structures like Masvingo, to tighten his grip on the party.

Chiwenga, a former military commander instrumental in Mnangagwa’s rise to power, retains significant support within the armed forces and rural strongholds, making him a formidable rival.

The factional battles have exposed deep cracks in Zanu PF’s unity.

Masvingo, a historically loyal province, has become a microcosm of the national power struggle, with Chiwenga’s influence clashing with Mnangagwa’s attempts to centralize authority.

Observers warn that Mnangagwa’s purge of dissenters like Ganyiwa and Bhila risks alienating key constituencies and emboldening Chiwenga’s camp.

As the party heads toward its next elective congress, the rift between the two factions threatens to destabilize Zanu PF’s already fragile facade of unity.

Ganyiwa and Bhila’s dismissals are more than isolated disciplinary actions—they reflect a calculated strategy by Mnangagwa to weaken Chiwenga’s base.

However, the political fallout from these moves could backfire, amplifying internal divisions and setting the stage for an intensified power struggle.

About Bicycle Tail Lights and Road Safety

Concerns Over Mphoko’s Cardboard Box Coffin

By A Correspondent

Zimbabweans have expressed concerns over the use of a “cardboard box coffin” for former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko.

Many believe this is a deliberate move by the regime to diminish his legacy.

Mphoko passed away in India last week and is set to be buried in Bulawayo.

It is reported that he had expressed his wish not to be laid to rest at the national shrine.

One social media user, Derreck, commented: “Vazogona kumuisa mubhokisi rekuMbare” (They’ve managed to put him in a Mbare-style box).

Another observer remarked: “Yowe, ko zvaauya ari mu cardboard box nhaimi?” (Wow, so he’s arriving in a cardboard box?).

Tendai Tungwarara also questioned the choice of coffin: “Coffin ummmm, what type is this?”

Another Chiwenga Top Ally Fired

By Political Reporter – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has dismissed yet another Zanu PF cadre aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, intensifying the factional battles within the ruling party.

Benjamin Ganyiwa, the Member of Parliament for Gutu East Constituency, was issued a prohibition order this week, a move widely interpreted as part of Mnangagwa’s ongoing purge of Chiwenga loyalists in Masvingo Province.

This dismissal follows the suspension of Roy Bhila, the Zanu PF provincial finance secretary and Chiredzi North MP, who has also been accused of disloyalty.

Both incidents highlight the escalating rift between the two factions, with Masvingo Province emerging as a key battleground.

In a letter addressed to Ganyiwa, the Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Disciplinary Committee accused him of treachery and causing division within the party.

Specific charges included hosting a secret meeting under the guise of a groundbreaking ceremony and failing to reprimand anti-leadership sentiments in a WhatsApp group he managed.

The letter invoked Article 37, Section 549 of the Zanu PF Constitution, alleging that Ganyiwa’s actions were disloyal and divisive.

Similarly, Roy Bhila was served a prohibition order on allegations of undermining the “ED2030 Agenda,” Mnangagwa’s vision for Zimbabwe’s development by 2030.

Bhila’s dissent became evident when he openly criticized land grabs by party officials during a Chiredzi council meeting, a stance that distanced him from the Mnangagwa-aligned faction.

Despite being one of Zanu PF’s top vote-getters in both the 2018 and 2023 elections, Bhila’s stance on corruption and his alignment with constitutional principles have made him a target.

Observers argue that his suspension is a warning to other party members who might challenge Mnangagwa’s authority.

Masvingo Province has long been regarded as a Chiwenga stronghold, with the Vice President enjoying significant grassroots support in the region.

However, pro-Mnangagwa officials, including Provincial Minister Ezra Chadzamira, have been working to consolidate power.

Chadzamira, a vocal supporter of the ED2030 Agenda, has been implicated in controversial land seizures, further fueling tensions within the province.

Bhila’s vocal opposition to these practices and his alignment with Chiwenga’s camp have made him a prime target in Mnangagwa’s factional purge.

The deepening rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has been a defining feature of Zimbabwe’s political landscape since the 2017 military coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

While the two leaders initially presented a united front, underlying power struggles have since surfaced, with both camps maneuvering to outflank the other.

Mnangagwa’s efforts to consolidate power have seen the systematic sidelining of Chiwenga allies, particularly in provincial structures like Masvingo.

Chiwenga, a former military commander who played a key role in Mnangagwa’s rise to power, has maintained a loyal base within the armed forces and certain rural constituencies.

These factional battles threaten to destabilize Zanu PF as the party prepares for its next elective congress.

Mnangagwa’s push to eliminate dissent risks alienating critical support bases, particularly in provinces like Masvingo, where Chiwenga’s influence remains strong.

Ganyiwa and Bhila’s dismissals are not just isolated disciplinary actions; they reflect a broader strategy by Mnangagwa to tighten his grip on the party.

However, these moves could backfire, further exposing cracks in Zanu PF’s unity and emboldening Chiwenga’s camp.
As the factional infighting continues to play out, the question remains: how long can Zanu PF maintain the facade of unity in the face of deepening divisions?

How have golf rules evolved over the years?

Golf’s rules have evolved significantly since the game originated in Scotland in the 15th century. You can always make all sports betting Zambia – 1xbet.com.zm/en features lots of golf competitions too.

The earliest known rules were set in 1744 by the Company of Gentlemen Golfers in Edinburgh. This was a precursor to today’s R&A (Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews), which remains a key authority in the sport. These initial 13 rules mainly addressed basic elements such as:

  • teeing grounds;
  • hazards;
  • and match play.

At 1xBet Zambia you can make all sports betting on plenty of golf tournaments taking place all across the world.

Standardizing the rules

One of the first notable shifts came with the introduction of stroke play in the early 19th century, expanding beyond the traditional match-play format. The R&A, along with the United States Golf Association (USGA), first collaborated to standardize rules internationally in 1897. This partnership has guided the game’s evolution globally, with both organizations continuing to manage rule changes and modernizations. At 1xBet you can find safe football betting online and also secure golf wagers.

As technology advanced, the rules evolved to address innovations like new club materials, golf ball construction, and equipment standards. The introduction of metal clubs in the 20th century necessitated new regulations on equipment to maintain fairness. The maximum club length, for instance, was limited to 48 inches (122 cm), and the size and weight of golf balls were standardized to ensure consistency in play. Today, you can make safe online football betting at the 1xBet platform while also wagering on several aspects of golf too.

Accelerating the pace of the game

In 1952, the R&A and USGA unified the rules further, making golf’s regulations more universal. Penalties and definitions were clarified, such as the number of strokes for out-of-bounds and the treatment of water hazards. By the late 20th century, revisions addressed increasing pace-of-play concerns, leading to changes like the “five-minute search rule” for lost balls (since shortened to three minutes in 2019). The http://1xbet.com.zm/en/line website also allows you to wager on whether a ball will be lost too.

In 2019, a huge overhaul simplified the rules, making them more accessible to amateur players. The R&A and USGA aimed to clarify ambiguities, such as relaxing penalties for accidental double hits. They also permitted the flagstick to remain in while putting, and reduced the allowable search time for lost balls. These reforms have made golf faster and easier to understand, and this also makes a great option to wager at the 1xBet website.

Court Orders Namibia Electoral Commission to Release Election Material

Mnangagwa Praise Singer Chief Hwenje Resurfaces After Death Rumours

By Showbiz Reporter-The Zanu PF apologist and praise singer Admire Sanyanga Sibanda, better known as Chief Hwenje, has resurfaced after weeks of swirling rumours about his death, which his manager suggested were a result of family squabbles.

Known for his songs glorifying President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Chief Hwenje emerged in public this week alongside Mnangagwa’s hitman, Owen Ncube, dispelling claims that he had succumbed to cancer.

Chief Hwenje posing for pictures with Owen Ncube

Last month, Hwenje announced his cancer diagnosis, sparking a public outcry against Zanu PF for allegedly exploiting him.

Presidential spokesperson George Charamba quickly announced that the ruling party had flown Hwenje to South Africa for treatment.

However, a squabble between the family and the ruling ZANU PF over access to the singer resulted in some family members suggesting he has died..

On Friday, Hwenje shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), declaring himself “fit and strong” after a meeting with Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Owen Ncube. He also performed at the commissioning of the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road, signaling his return to the public eye.

Chief Hwenje shot to fame after Zimbabwe’s 2017 military coup, which ended Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule. His praise songs, such as Garwe Rauya (“The Crocodile Has Come”), became anthems for Mnangagwa’s loyalists.

The artist earned a reputation as a zealous bootlicker, crafting lyrics that hero-worshipped Mnangagwa and the ruling party’s agenda.

Hwenje’s plight is reminiscent of a troubling pattern in Zanu PF’s history.

The ruling party has long co-opted musicians to amplify its propaganda, only to discard them when their usefulness wanes.

During the early 2000s, Last Chiyangwa, popularly known as Tambaoga, gained notoriety for his song Rambai Makashinga (“Remain Resilient”), which justified state-sanctioned land seizures.

Once a celebrated regime voice, Tambaoga now lives in destitution, a cautionary tale of the perils of aligning too closely with Zanu PF.

Similarly, the late Dickson Chingaira, affectionately known as Cde Chinx, was a revolutionary icon who used music to bolster Zanu PF’s liberation war rhetoric.

Despite his loyalty, Chinx lived his final years in relative poverty, with the party offering little support for his medical bills or upkeep.

Chief Hwenje’s reappearance may silence rumours of his death, but it reignites questions about Zanu PF’s exploitation of loyal artists.

How long will Hwenje remain in the party’s favour before meeting the same fate as Tambaoga and Cde Chinx?

While Hwenje may enjoy public performances and state-backed appearances, his story is a poignant reminder of the cost of tying one’s art to a political machine notorious for using and discarding its propaganda tools.

Tshabangu Confirms Judicial Ties

By Political Reporter- The controversial Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, said Welshman Ncube will not win the court case he filed against him.

Tshabangu said the courts would rule in his favour, confirming assertions that Zanu PF is using him to destroy the opposition.

Welshman Ncube, along with deputy leader Lynette Karenyi Kore, Sesel Zwidzai, and Edwin Mushoriwa, filed an urgent High Court application seeking to block his decision to remove CCC Members of Parliament from key parliamentary committee positions.

In a bold statement posted on his X account, Tshabangu declared:
“I wish to make it clear that anyone from the opposition who doesn’t tow the line of development will be removed from influential positions. We’re a serious formation that is results-oriented. Those who think they can reverse it through courts are surely mistaken and won’t win any case.”

Tshabangu assumed control of the CCC following the contentious 2023 general elections and is accused of leveraging his position to orchestrate sweeping reshuffles of parliamentary portfolio committee leadership, allegedly cementing loyalty among his allies.

The High Court case filed by Ncube and his co-applicants lists Tshabangu, National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda, and Senator Nonhlahla Mlotshwa—whom Tshabangu controversially appointed as CCC Chief Whip—as respondents.

In their application, the applicants challenge the constitutionality of Tshabangu’s actions, arguing that they exceed his mandate and contravene party rules and court orders.

Among the contested decisions are removing CCC representatives from the influential Standing Rules and Orders Committee (SROC) and the reshuffling of key parliamentary committees.

Ncube’s affidavit highlights Tshabangu’s alleged defiance of a prior court order prohibiting him from recalling party members.

He contends that the reshuffles are tantamount to disguised recalls and do not reflect the party’s collective will.

“His actions are a frolic of his own,” stated Ncube. “He is a non-entity, and it is surprising that the Speaker continues to entertain him instead of respecting the party’s collective stance.”

Critics within the CCC have also accused Tshabangu of undermining the party’s unity, with his unilateral actions fueling a leadership crisis.

While the matter awaits a court hearing—no date has been set—the CCC remains mired in its most significant leadership dispute to date.

The party faces mounting challenges to maintain cohesion amid allegations of internal sabotage and power struggles.

Observers argue that the outcome of the legal battle could redefine the CCC’s internal governance and set a precedent for how authority is exercised within Zimbabwe’s opposition politics.

Zanu PF Youths Fire Gun Shots, Grab Gold Deposits

By Political Reporter- A group of Zanu PF youths in Goromonzi North fired gunshots on Wednesday during a violent clash over control of a newly discovered gold belt at Lonely Park Farm.

The chaos erupted when party youths, led by Zanu PF leaders from Vhuta Ward 13, accused Pardon Chibamu, the provincial youth league secretary for education, of usurping the gold claim for personal benefit.

Chibamu allegedly leveraged his political clout to negotiate with the farm owner, Antony Retzlarf, sidelining the local community that initially identified the resource-rich area.

The confrontation turned violent as angry youths sang war songs, brandished placards, and attacked Chibamu, damaging his Toyota Fortuner.

Witnesses reported that gunshots were fired during the melee, and four villagers were arrested.

The escalating tensions prompted the disgruntled group to pen a letter of complaint to Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe, accusing Chibamu of abusing his party position.

Local leaders, including Ward 13 councillor Peter Million, co-signed the letter, which reads:

“The Vhuta community discovered a gold belt at Lonely Park Farm. When it got to the ears of Pardon Chibamu, he misled Mr. Retzlarf and used his party muscle to take over the site.”

Ceylon Gotora, the villagers’ secretary, confirmed the gunfire incident and arrests, saying:

“We wrote to the province, but no response has come. The community is frustrated, and the situation remains tense.”

Chibamu, however, dismissed the allegations, claiming he holds the legal rights to the mine.

“I am the legitimate owner with all required documents. These accusations are baseless and tarnish the name of Zanu PF. Those who protested are not party members. Mining is a lawful process, and I am operating within the law,” he said.

The incident highlights Zanu PF’s growing reputation for internal corruption and resource grabs, with senior party members exploiting mineral wealth at the expense of local communities.

Mnangagwa Fires Chiwenga Top Ally

By Political Reporter – Zanu PF has suspended one of its Masvingo heavyweights, Roy Bhila, in a move seen as part of the escalating power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Bhila, the Zanu PF Masvingo provincial finance secretary, was suspended this week after rejecting the party’s “ED2030 Agenda.”

His dissent became public when he criticised fellow party members for grabbing land during a Chiredzi council meeting, aligning himself with growing discontent in the province.

Masvingo Province, long considered a Chiwenga stronghold, has witnessed increased factional tensions, particularly as pro-Mnangagwa officials consolidate power.

Prominent among them is Masvingo Provincial Minister Ezra Chadzamira, a staunch supporter of the ED2030 Agenda, who has been implicated in controversial land grabs in Chiredzi and surrounding areas.

Bhila’s opposition to these practices has set him apart from the faction aligned with Mnangagwa.

In the last election, Bhila had previously campaigned for Mnangagwa, which made his suspension a significant blow to the President’s claims of unity within Zanu PF.

Observers suggest this disciplinary action underscores Mnangagwa’s efforts to purge Chiwenga allies as he seeks to tighten his grip on the party ahead of the next Zanu PF elective congress.

This development is the latest in a series of moves reflecting the deepening rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.

The power struggle, which has defined much of the post-Mugabe era, has seen both camps employing political manoeuvres to undermine each other, with provincial party structures often serving as battlegrounds.

Mai Dhuterere Faces Fraud Charges Over Botched Car Deal

By A Correspondent

Dorcas Vambe, wife of musician Mambo Dhuterere, has been arraigned before a Harare Magistrate on fraud charges for allegedly duping a local politician of $16,000 in a botched car deal ¹.

The Alleged Fraud Scheme

Vambe, 36, allegedly connived with her brother Kudakwashe Vambe, who is still at large, to defraud the complainant. The duo claimed they could purchase a Toyota Hilux GD6 in Botswana and import two cars duty-free, using a waiver allegedly granted to Vambe by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a token of appreciation for her music.

The Complainant’s Loss

The complainant, interested in the deal, handed over $16,000 to Vambe, who acknowledged receipt and committed to delivering two Toyota Hilux GD6 vehicles within two weeks. However, Vambe failed to fulfill her obligation, leading to her arrest.

Mnangagwa’s Taxman Targets Churches

Coltart Blasts Peter Ndlovu Over Chivayo Car

By A Correspondent

The legendary South African publication Kick-Off has strongly criticized former Warriors captain and ex-Highlanders forward Peter Ndlovu for accepting a luxurious vehicle from the controversial Zanu PF businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

Ndlovu, who once played for Coventry City, was gifted a brand-new 2024 BMW X6 valued at R2.6 million by Chivayo, known for his involvement in various scandals.

This act has sparked backlash, with several political figures condemning the former Mamelodi Sundowns star for tarnishing his illustrious reputation.

Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart was particularly vocal in his disapproval. He described Ndlovu’s decision to accept the car as a “mockery” of his otherwise stellar reputation.

“It’s sad to note that Peter accepted Chivayo’s gift.

The question is, where did the money come from?” Coltart questioned, implying that Chivayo’s financial dealings might not be above board.

The controversy has cast a shadow over Ndlovu’s legacy, as critics argue that associating with such a figure could damage his public image.

Mnangagwa Assumes Ministerial Duties Again…

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa once again found himself taking over ministerial duties typically performed by other officials. On Thursday, the President traveled from Harare to Shurugwi to officiate at the commissioning of the newly upgraded Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road. Ordinarily, such a task would fall under the purview of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, but Mnangagwa’s involvement raises questions about the role of the Minister in overseeing infrastructure projects.

At the event, President Mnangagwa spoke about the importance of infrastructure development, stating that “the country will continue to score major milestones in infrastructure development, by harnessing deliberate policies enunciated by the Second Republic.” He emphasized that such projects are central to the vision of the current administration, which has focused heavily on improving Zimbabwe’s national road network.

The Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road, which had been in poor condition for years, has been transformed into a modern, multi-million dollar road. The project, which involved widening the road and other extensive upgrades, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity. Notably, this road links the Beitbridge Border Post with towns like Gweru and Kwekwe, offering a new route that avoids the previously winding path through Masvingo.

Mnangagwa was pleased to highlight the significance of the road’s completion for the Midlands province, commenting, “Look at the development which is there now, in the 40s we would say there is one secondary school in one district. I’m very happy that this development was registered under the Second Republic.” He further noted his pride in the ongoing progress, emphasizing the trajectory of the country’s infrastructure under his administration.

As Mnangagwa continues to step into roles beyond his presidential duties, one might wonder about the specific responsibilities of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development. Why is the President personally handling tasks traditionally managed by other cabinet members, such as the commissioning of a key infrastructure project?

Ex-Minister Loses Car At Gun Point

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Former cabinet minister and Zanu PF Mashonaland West senator Prisca Mupfumira has become the latest victim of Zimbabwe’s escalating gun-related crime.

Armed robbers seized her royal blue Isuzu double cab, valued at US$70,000, in Harare’s Avondale West on the morning of December 11.

The incident happened when Mupfumira’s driver, Edmore Mashasha, went to collect church uniforms from a tailor on Ascot Road at around 7 AM.

While waiting for the gate to be opened, two armed men approached the vehicle, pointed a pistol at Mashasha’s head, and ordered him to move from the driver’s seat.

One of the robbers commandeered the vehicle while the other blindfolded and tied Mashasha, pushing him into the back seat.

The carjackers sped off before dumping him at an undisclosed location along Mutoko Road.

Mashasha managed to free himself and flagged down a passerby who lent him a phone to alert Mupfumira. Police were subsequently notified.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Vehicle Theft Squad is investigating the case, adding it to the growing list of gun-related crimes plaguing the country.

Since the 2017 military-led coup that ousted long-time ruler Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe has witnessed a concerning proliferation of firearms.

Analysts point to political instability, weakened law enforcement, and porous borders as key contributors to the surge in illegal guns.

This has fueled an alarming rise in violent crimes, including armed robberies, cash heists, carjackings, and home invasions.

The brazen attack on a high-profile political figure’s vehicle highlights how gun violence is spiralling out of control, posing a significant threat to public safety.

Welshman, Biti Lose Party Control To Tshabangu

Political Reporter- Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti have lost control of the divided CCC after the Parliament approved parliament purges by the CCC’s controversial secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu.

This has raised tensions within the CCC, led by Welshman Ncube, prompting them to approach the High Court in Bulawayo to contest the reshuffle, arguing that Tshabangu lacks the authority to make such changes without party approval.

However, despite the legal challenge, Parliament announced the changes, appointing Maureen Kademaunga as the new Leader of the Opposition, replacing Lynnette Karenyi Kore, while Nonhlahla Mlotshwa was appointed as the overall Chief Whip of the opposition.

CCC spokesperson Willias Madzimure condemned Parliament’s decision to implement the changes.

He said :

The matter is before the court and according to the Courts the matter will be heard on Friday and it is alarming.

It is shocking that after the speaker had been served with the court papers, he went on to make the arrangement.

The Importance of Bicycle Tail Lights and Reflectors for Road Safety

Amnesty International Exerts Pressure On Mnangagwa to Abolish Death Penalty

By A Correspondent

Amnesty International Zimbabwe has intensified its call for the abolition of the death penalty in Zimbabwe, urging President Emmerson Mnangagwa to swiftly sign the Death Penalty Abolition Bill into law.

The bill, which passed through Zimbabwe’s Senate on December 11, 2024, is now awaiting the President’s assent.

If signed into law, it would mark a significant step toward ending the practice of capital punishment in the country.

Amnesty International Zimbabwe’s Executive Director, Lucia Masuka, expressed the organization’s strong support for the bill’s passage.

In a statement released on Thursday, Masuka described the Senate’s vote as “a major step by Zimbabwe towards the abolition of the death penalty.”

She further emphasized that the decision was a victory for those who have fought relentlessly for the protection of human life.

“It is also a victory for all those who have tirelessly campaigned to consign this cruel punishment to history and strengthen the protection of the right to life and other human rights,” Masuka said.

The bill’s passage follows years of advocacy by human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, which has been campaigning for the global abolition of the death penalty since 1977.

While Zimbabwe has made progress in limiting its use — including an unofficial moratorium on executions — courts continue to impose death sentences. Zimbabwe last carried out an execution in 2005, and President Mnangagwa has periodically commuted death sentences to life imprisonment.

Amnesty International commended Zimbabwe’s legislative efforts to end the death penalty, calling them “progressive.”

Masuka added, “We urge the President to take heed of this historic landmark decision by signing this draft act without delay and commuting all death sentences to prison terms.” She further emphasized that “The death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment and has no place in our world.”

Despite the country’s progress, the use of the death penalty remains a contentious issue.

Amnesty’s continued advocacy highlights the importance of fully removing it from Zimbabwe’s legal framework and securing human rights protections for all.

As the bill now awaits Mnangagwa’s signature, Amnesty International and other human rights organizations are closely watching the President’s next move, hoping that Zimbabwe will join the growing list of countries that have abolished capital punishment.

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe is bracing for the potential impact of Tropical Cyclone Chido, which is currently causing disruptions in the northeastern part of Madagascar. According to the Meteorological Services Department, the cyclone is predicted to reach Zimbabwe on December 17, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rainfall.

The Met Department warned that certain areas in Zimbabwe could experience rainfall exceeding 70 millimeters within 24 hours.

“Tropical Cyclone Chido is expected to cross into Zimbabwe on the 17th of December, bringing heavy rains and strong winds,” the department stated.

The areas most likely to be affected include Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Harare Metropolitan, and some parts of the Midlands Province.

In light of the expected storm, the authorities are urging citizens to take precautions.

“Residents are encouraged to secure their homes from the anticipated strong winds and avoid open spaces during the storm,” said a spokesperson from the Meteorological Services Department.

Additionally, citizens are advised to prepare evacuation plans and stay informed by following updates from the Meteorological Services Department and the Department of Civil Protection.

Broke Mnangagwa Regime Targets Churches for Tax Revenue

Peter Ndlovu Slammed for Accepting Chivayo’s “Cursed” Vehicle

S A Buys More Buses Deport Border Jumper

South Africa – The Home Affairs and the Border Management Authority (BMA) have bought more buses and drones to be used to deport illegal border crossings ahead of the festive season.

These measures, described by critics as xenophobic, primarily target Zimbabweans and other regional migrants seeking refuge in Pretoria amid economic hardships back home.

At the same time, Botswana has adopted a more inclusive approach, expediting documentation processes for skilled Zimbabweans to fill labour gaps in its booming economy, particularly in the diamond sector.

The use of drones, hailed as a first-of-its-kind initiative, was launched by Democratic Alliance (DA) Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber.

At the launch event, Schreiber emphasised the government’s commitment to rigorously monitoring South Africa’s borders.

“No longer will it be the case that people can move around without us having eyes on them,” Schreiber said. “We want to send a very clear message to people who want to violate South Africa’s immigration laws: for the very first time, you won’t even know that we are seeing you. We are above you, we are around you, and we are watching for infringements along the borderline.”

The drones will be supplemented by body cameras for border guards to prevent corruption and ensure safety.

To further bolster enforcement, the government has introduced buses tasked with deporting undocumented migrants back to their home countries.

Schreiber stressed the importance of distinguishing between those who follow the law and contribute to the South African economy and those who do not.

“We welcome any traveler, investor, tourist, or skilled person who will follow our laws and help us build South Africa. But that is different from people who violate our law and don’t want to comply with our rules.”

In a symbolic demonstration of the new measures, the first wave of deportations saw 290 illegal miners sent back to Mozambique.

While South Africa tightens its grip, Botswana has taken a markedly different stance.

The country announced plans to expedite work permits and documentation for skilled Zimbabweans already contributing to its economic growth.

The move, celebrated by many Zimbabwean professionals, is part of Botswana’s broader strategy to harness regional talent in key industries.

The contrasting approaches highlight divergent regional strategies toward migration.

While South Africa’s methods are increasingly focused on border militarisation and mass deportations, Botswana’s policies appear to underscore the potential of skilled migrants to foster economic development.

Malawi’s Information Minister Violently Chased Down By Vendors | Video

Blantyre, Malawi — Chaos erupted in Ndirande Township on Friday, November 22, 2024, as Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu’s convoy was pelted with stones, forcing him to cut short his tour. The visit, aimed at addressing public concerns over ongoing national challenges, was disrupted by violent protests that escalated to police intervention with teargas.

While the exact trigger for the unrest remains unclear, a video circulating on social media suggests that local residents and market traders were angered by the minister’s unannounced arrival, which they claim disrupted business, the MaraviPost reports.

In the footage, a man identifying himself as the secretary for Ndirande Market accused Kunkuyu’s convoy of disrespecting the community.

“We just heard the minister is coming to the township, and people pelted stones at his convoy because it was disturbing us,” the man said.

He added, “We are the owners of this area, and politicians should respect that. They can’t disrupt us simply because they have money and power.”

Other residents joined the outcry, chanting and throwing stones at vehicles in the convoy, including police cars, as teargas was fired to disperse the mob. Traders lamented the loss of business due to the commotion and warned politicians against entering the township without consulting local leaders.

Minister Reacts to the Incident

Minister Kunkuyu, who called off the remainder of his tour to Limbe and Thyolo, condemned the violence, hinting at possible political motivations behind the attack.

“The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) does not tolerate violence, and the incident will not deter our efforts to help people in Ndirande and other areas,” Kunkuyu said.

Rising Political Tensions

This latest unrest comes just two weeks after armed hoodlums disrupted an opposition-led demonstration in Lilongwe. Protesters were rallying against alleged irregularities in voter registration ahead of the 2025 general elections, scheduled for September 17.

Political analyst Ernest Thindwa attributed the escalating violence to a lack of accountability and action by political stakeholders.

“Malawi has allowed this malpractice to persist for years, and unless urgent measures are taken, the violence will only worsen,” Thindwa warned.

As Malawi approaches a critical election, tensions continue to rise, with analysts cautioning that unchecked political unrest could destabilize the nation further.

Mai Dhuterere in Court Over Alleged $16,000 Fraud

Harare, Zimbabwe — Dorcas Vambe, the 36-year-old wife of popular musician Mambo Dhuterere, appeared before a Harare Magistrate on Thursday facing allegations of defrauding a local politician in a botched car deal worth US$16,000.

The court heard that Vambe, in collaboration with her brother, misled the complainant into believing that they could procure a Toyota Hilux GD6 for him from Botswana. The alleged incident took place in September this year when the complainant, who was in the market for the vehicle, disclosed his budget to the accused.

Dorcas Vambe

According to the prosecution, Vambe and her brother assured the politician that they had the means and connections to secure the vehicle at the stated price. Trusting their claims, the complainant reportedly transferred the money to the accused. However, after receiving the funds, Vambe and her brother allegedly failed to deliver the vehicle or refund the money.

The matter came to light when the complainant, after several unsuccessful attempts to recover his money or receive the promised car, reported the incident to the authorities. Following investigations, Vambe was arrested and charged with fraud.

Vambe, who is known for her close association with her husband, gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, has yet to enter a plea. She remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

The case has drawn significant public attention, given her connection to one of Zimbabwe’s celebrated music figures. Legal experts suggest the trial could set a precedent for similar cases involving misrepresentation and fraud.

As of now, efforts to reach Mambo Dhuterere for comment have been unsuccessful. The court is expected to determine Vambe’s fate in the coming days.

Varakashi Sound Alarm On Power Crisis

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF hardliners, known as Varakashi, have finally acknowledged that the ongoing electricity load shedding has become a significant problem for the nation.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Varakashi group, which runs the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, expressed their concerns over the worsening power situation.

They stated, “A lot needs to be done for electricity load shedding to be a thing of the past. The government must engage the best companies or investors who can revive the Kariba Dam Hydro Power Plant.”

The group also provided a visual explanation of the current state of the power supply. They shared two photos, with the first showing the turbines at the Kariba Dam, noting, “These are our turbines, and only 2 out of 5 are working. Unfortunately, as of yesterday, only one turbine was functional.”

The second photo depicted Zambia’s situation, which is similarly strained. “Zambia also had only 2 turbines working. Water levels have decreased so much despite other challenges,” they added.

The Varakashi’s comments highlight the growing frustration and urgency surrounding the ongoing power crisis in the country.

Zanu PF Youth League In Turmoil

By A Correspondent

Infighting within the ZANU PF Youth League has escalated, as Youth League Secretary Tinoda Machakaire has demanded that his deputy, John Paradza, immediately retract a circular that he issued, which allegedly nullified a recent reshuffling of the national executive council.

On December 9, 2024, Machakaire announced the reshuffle of the ZANU PF Youth League, a move that was met with resistance from Paradza. Paradza argued that the reshuffle was unconstitutional and instructed the affected officials to remain in their positions.

In his response, Paradza referred to specific provisions within the party’s constitution, asserting, “May you acquaint yourself with the provisions of Article 26(340)(1)&(2) which provide for the functions and responsibilities of the Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs.” He emphasized that as Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Machakaire had no right to interfere with the functions of the Secretary for Youth Affairs, stating that Machakaire had no constitutional basis for making such a move.

Paradza further challenged Machakaire’s actions, saying, “In your letter, you have made vague reference to the composition of the Youth League National Executive Council without particularity on the provision you rely on in making your assertions.” He pointed out that there had been no breach of the constitution in the reshuffle, as no official had been removed from the National Executive Council.

Machakaire, in his own letter, defended the reshuffle, stating, “Adjustments in the departmental leadership of the Youth League National Executive Council have been implemented purely for the purposes of enhancing the fulfilment of the Youth League’s constitutional obligations and the execution of the National People’s Conference Resolutions.”

He also made it clear that the changes were in line with guidance from his principal, asserting, “As head of the Youth League, I have communicated the adjustments as I have been duly guided by my Principal in terms of Article 10(88)(1), (2)&(13) and Article 26(339)(1)&(4).”

In conclusion, Machakaire ordered Paradza to withdraw his circular immediately, warning that failure to do so would result in further disciplinary actions. “Your much circulated and published correspondence contesting the communicated position is irregular and must be withdrawn forthwith, failing which the appropriate measures shall be set in motion,” he stated.

The growing tension within the Youth League highlights deepening divisions within ZANU PF, with significant implications for the party’s future cohesion.

Joy For Zimbos in Botswana

Political ReporterBotswana’s new President, Duma Boko, has initiated a groundbreaking program to document and regularize skilled Zimbabweans living there, bringing hope to the estimated 150,000 Zimbabweans.

The initiative, welcomed by Zimbabwean authorities, aims to formalize the status of undocumented individuals, enabling them to contribute to Botswana’s economy while improving their access to services.

Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Botswana, Henry Mukonoweshuro, praised the move, likening it to South Africa’s special dispensation granted to Zimbabweans in 2009.

“We welcome President Boko’s commitment to documenting our people. It ensures trust and traceability, allowing them to seek employment and contribute meaningfully,” said Mukonoweshuro.

He added that discussions with Botswana’s Ministry of Immigration are underway to turn the president’s pronouncement into action.

At the Zimbabwean Embassy in Gaborone, consular services are in high demand, with up to 150 Zimbabweans seeking assistance daily for passport renewals, birth certificates, and permits.

The embassy also compiles a comprehensive list of Zimbabweans in Botswana to streamline the documentation process.

Zimbabweans in Botswana, including professionals like Dr. Brighton Hurombo, a lecturer at the University of Botswana, have expressed satisfaction with the embassy’s services. “I am pleased with the efficiency of the embassy. Their support ensures smoother processes for those of us traveling or renewing documents,” he said.

President Boko’s initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening Botswana-Zimbabwe relations while addressing the needs of Zimbabwean expatriates.

This progressive approach acknowledges the skills and commitment of Zimbabweans and underscores the importance of inclusive policies in fostering regional stability and development.

Magaya, Makandiwa Face Tax Clampdown Over Holy Hustle

By Religion ReporterThe Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has announced that churches generating income from the sale of merchandise—including books, music, and so-called anointing oil—will now be subject to taxation.

This move targets religious figures like Walter Magaya and Emmanuel Makandiwa, who have long faced criticism for exploiting desperate followers through high-priced “private consultations” and selling purportedly sacred products.

While donations, tithes, and offerings remain exempt from tax, ZIMRA clarified that proceeds from trading activities, such as selling branded items and artifacts, fall squarely under taxable income.

This includes sales of anointing oils, which have become a lucrative venture for many charismatic churches.

A ZIMRA notice emphasized compliance, urging churches to register and submit outstanding tax returns to avoid penalties. “By voluntarily staying compliant, you contribute to a fair and sustainable tax system that supports national development,” the authority stated.

Critics argue that some churches exploit vulnerable congregants under the guise of faith.

The taxation of commercial activities within religious institutions is seen as a step toward curbing abuse while ensuring financial accountability.

ZIMRA plans to host a stakeholder engagement forum to discuss tax compliance further, with details to be announced.

Mai Dhuterere’s arrest marks a significant turn in the public life of the gospel musician’s family, known for their positive image within Zimbabwe’s gospel music scene. Fans and the public are eagerly awaiting more details regarding the case as it unfolds.

Effects Of Distracted Driving…

Distracted driving is doing another activity that takes the driver’s attention away from driving.

Distracted driving can increase the chance of a motor vehicle crash.

There are three types of driving distractions
Anything that takes your attention away from driving can be a distraction.

Machakaire, Paradza Exchange Harsh Words Over Reshuffling

Another Zanu PF Youth Leader Arrested

By Political Reporter- Lewis Matutu, a former Zanu PF youth league secretary, has been arrested.

Matutu appeared on Tuesday at the Harare Magistrates Court, facing a charge of fraud.

He is being accused of unlawfully transferring 240 ordinary shares to his name in a company he was entrusted to direct as part of a youth empowerment initiative.

He appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Isheanesu Matova and was remanded out of custody.

The complainant is Joseph Evurath Sibanda, a director and shareholder of Shusib Investments (Private) Limited.

State prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu said sometime in 2012, Sibanda and his relative Lyton Shumba successfully registered Shusib Investments (Pvt) Limited.

The company had 2 000 ordinary shares.
The court heard that Sibanda later approached the Department of Parks and Wildlife for mineral exploration in the Shamva/Mufurudzi area.

He was granted a 25-year lease.

Sibanda and his partner then agreed to rope in youths in line with the government’s youth empowerment agenda.

In the process, Sibanda engaged Matutu, who became a co-director of the company.

Pambili Investments Corporation, representing youths, was also engaged and allocated 240 ordinary shares.

In 2018, Matutu allegedly connived with Blessing Kusangaya, Tafadzwa Kusangaya, Muzimba Muhamba and Chikwasha Muhamba to steal shares from the company.

They prepared annual returns dated April 30, 2018, and forged signatures to change the shareholding structure, which made them majority shareholders.

The offence came to light on September 30 when Sibanda was informed by the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management that Matutu had instructed them to suspend mining operations.

As a result, Sibanda was prejudiced of US$150 000 and nothing was recovered.

Varakashi Admit Loadshedding Now A Menace

Alert: Cross-Border Bus Robberies

Johannesburg, South Africa – Travellers are being warned against moving with vast sums of cash this festive season as they risk being robbed.

To mark this spate of robberies, yesterday, a Divine Stars Logistics bus was robbed and burnt down at the New Town Cross Border Bus Rank in Johannesburg.

Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers ambushed the bus, robbed passengers and crew, and shot the conductor in cold blood.

The assailants then poured petrol on the bus and set it ablaze, reducing it to ashes.

One eyewitness expressed grief, saying, “It’s so sad. May the Zimbabwean brother rest in peace. Please be safe and avoid carrying large sums of money, especially during this festive season. If you must travel, send money to your destination beforehand. Evil-doers always take advantage of this time of year.”

Cross-border buses transporting passengers between South Africa and neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe, are common targets for armed robbers, particularly during the festive season.

This period is marked by increased travel, with many people carrying cash, gifts, and other valuables, making them attractive to criminals.

Robbers often ambush buses at remote spots or busy terminals, where they can act quickly and escape undetected.

Sometimes, they impersonate passengers or stage breakdowns to lure unsuspecting vehicles.

The crimes range from robbery and assault to arson and murder, leaving victims traumatized.

Authorities often struggle to curb these crimes due to limited policing resources and corruption.

Travellers are urged to remain vigilant, avoid carrying large sums of cash, and prioritize safety by using reliable operators and secure channels for transferring money.

Auxillia Mnangagwa Defiles Johane Masowe Shrine

By A Correspondent

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has triggered outrage among concerned believers following her visit to the Johane Masowe Shrine in Chiweshe last Friday. Many saw her visit as an unwelcome intrusion, particularly due to her prominent position and the church’s traditional values.

In a statement after her visit, Mrs. Mnangagwa expressed pride in her religious upbringing. She said, “Believers are required to uphold the integrity of God’s word and adhere to its precepts. I’m pleased with my upbringing and religious foundation. This last Friday, I was able to visit the church where I grew up, Johane Masowe eChishanu Chinhevere Shrine in Chiweshe, to meet some of the old and new members and spread the gospel to fellow believers.”

She added, “In an effort to strengthen my ties to my community and the spiritual leaders in my hometown of Chiweshe, I had been routinely attending services at Johane Masowe eChishanu. I shared the special times I had when I first started praying at a tender age and my dedication to the church that helped shape my morals.”

Despite her words, many have branded her visit as hypocritical, questioning the authenticity of her actions. Critics have pointed out the disconnect between her statements and the wider political context.

In response to Mnangagwa’s remarks, some citizens expressed their anger. One irate individual said, “Liars and hypocrites in white garments, whilst your hearts are darker than charcoal.” Another citizen angrily added, “Actually, they’re Satanists in white garments.”

The backlash continues to grow as people voice their frustration over the perceived insincerity of her actions.

Missing Girl Alert, Man Arrested For Preying On Little Girls

By Community News Reporter- Citizens have arrested a 45-year-old man for kidnapping and praying on underage girls.

In a post on social media by Hararians, one name is Solomon Tapera (45), has been arrested by locals and handed over to the police for kidnapping young girls.

Read the post:

Well done to ZRP & the private investigators who were hired to investigate this 13-year-old girl who disappeared for a week about a month ago. At one point, I thought I was all over and broke into tears. I felt so helpless that the baby girl wouldn’t get justice. His name is Solomon Tapera, and he is aged 45. Let’s follow the predator trend. There seems to be a gang in the Waterfalls area & possibly stretching wider into Harare, that is kidnapping young girls & abusing them by doing rituals. Just yesterday, another 14-year-old girl went missing. I am asking for assistance to help pay for a private investigator to locate the girl & have the perpetrators jailed. I can’t keep hiring private investigators myself; we need to be a strong community & flush out these backward, evil, cruel men together.

ZimEye has yet to get an official comment from the police to confirm this incident.

30 Killed In Mozambique Post Elections Violence

Maputo-The death toll from post-election violence in Mozambique has risen to at least 30, with 110 injured in the past week alone, as the nation grapples with one of its most volatile political crises in recent history.

Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for East and Southern Africa, Khanyo Farise, expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, calling for an immediate halt to what the organisation described as a “bloody crackdown” by the Frelimo-led government.

“Enough is enough. For more than 50 days, Mozambique’s Frelimo-led government has refused to end its bloody crackdown on protesters,” Farise said. “Regardless of who won the election or their political views, everyone in Mozambique has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly. The authorities’ flagrant, continued, and escalating use of unnecessary and unlawful force against protesters must cease immediately.”

Farise further criticised the inaction of regional and international organisations, stating: “The world must condemn this state violence and take action to end it. Amnesty International has repeatedly called on the international community, including the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union, to take action to end this nightmare. Yet both organisations remain all but silent on the government of Mozambique’s ruthless assault on protesters. Instead of demanding an end to these growing human rights violations, SADC has only sent condolences to people who lost their lives and were injured while declaring the elections ‘peaceful.’”

The rights group urged the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights to launch a fact-finding mission to investigate ongoing human rights abuses.

It also called on the United Nations to address the crisis with the urgency it deserves and appealed to Mozambique’s international donors and partners to take a firm stance against the government’s actions.

The protests erupted following Mozambique’s disputed general elections on October 9, which opposition parties alleged were marred by widespread irregularities and electoral fraud.

The ruling Frelimo party was declared victorious, extending its decades-long dominance, but opposition groups and civil society organisations have fiercely contested the results.

In the ensuing unrest, security forces have been accused of responding with excessive force.

According to Amnesty International, at least 329 people have been shot by police, resulting in 110 fatalities, including children and bystanders.

Over 3,500 individuals have reportedly been arbitrarily arrested, many of them opposition supporters or protesters exercising their right to peaceful assembly.

The violence has not been one-sided.

In retaliation to the government’s actions, some protesters have resorted to attacking police officers, members of the ruling Frelimo party, and staff from electoral bodies.

Instances of arson have also been reported, with protesters targeting police stations and Frelimo offices.

This recent wave of violence highlights deeper, long-standing issues in Mozambique’s political landscape.

Frelimo’s dominance since independence in 1975 has often been met with allegations of authoritarianism, electoral manipulation, and suppression of dissent.

Opposition parties, particularly Renamo, have struggled to gain meaningful traction in a system they argue is heavily skewed in favour of the ruling party.

The October elections were expected to be a test of Mozambique’s democratic progress.

Instead, they have laid bare the fragility of its political system, with trust in the electoral process and state institutions eroding further.

Despite the escalating violence, the international community’s response has been criticised as inadequate. SADC’s declaration of the elections as “peaceful” has drawn ire from human rights groups, while the African Union has yet to take decisive action.

Western donor nations and international organisations have largely issued statements of concern without implementing concrete measures to address the crisis.

As Mozambique’s crisis deepens, calls for accountability are growing louder.

Rights organisations and opposition leaders are demanding independent investigations into human rights abuses and greater international pressure on the Frelimo-led government to respect democratic principles and human rights.

Whether Mozambique’s leadership will heed these calls remains uncertain, but the need for a swift resolution is evident as the violence continues to claim lives and destabilise the nation.

Mnangagwa’s Christmas Donation Overshadowed by Corruption, Human Rights Violations

By A Correspondent

In a gesture aimed at spreading holiday cheer, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has assumed the role of Santa Claus this December, donating over two tonnes of rice to 20 care homes in Bulawayo. The donation, delivered on Tuesday, was presented by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube, who handed over the goods on behalf of the President. Among the recipients were care homes such as Luveve School of Training, Percy Iboston, St. Francis, and Sandra Jones, with each institution receiving 100 kilograms of rice to support the elderly and children under their care.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude, acknowledging the timely assistance as essential for ensuring a joyful Christmas for those most vulnerable in society. One representative from a care home remarked, “The timely donation will go a long way in ensuring the elderly have a great Christmas.”

While the donation was welcomed by its recipients, it is difficult to ignore the broader context within which this gesture takes place—one riddled with accusations of corruption, human rights violations, and political violence. Despite the festive spirit of the donation, the backdrop of Mnangagwa’s presidency is marked by a series of controversies that paint a far more complex picture.

Corruption Allegations

President Mnangagwa’s administration has faced numerous allegations of corruption that have eroded public trust. Critics claim that while the government continues to preach about national development and charitable efforts, it is often mired in financial mismanagement and the enrichment of the political elite. Allegations of embezzlement, fraudulent deals, and a lack of accountability in the handling of public funds remain persistent.

The donation of rice, while seemingly benevolent, raises questions about whether such acts of charity are being used as a smokescreen for a regime often accused of enriching itself at the expense of the nation. The optics of this gesture, coming from a government tainted by corruption, cannot be separated from the wider context of public dissatisfaction with the ruling party’s priorities.

Human Rights Violations and Political Repression

Beyond financial misconduct, Mnangagwa’s government has been repeatedly accused of human rights abuses, particularly in its crackdown on dissent and opposition groups. The 2018 post-election violence and subsequent human rights violations have left a scar on the nation’s conscience, with international observers and human rights organizations condemning the actions of state security forces under his leadership.

The government’s history of violently suppressing opposition protests and incarcerating political dissidents paints a stark contrast to the compassionate image it attempts to project with such donations. For many Zimbabweans, the rice given to the care homes is not enough to overshadow the human rights abuses and political repression that continue to shape their everyday lives.

Violence and State Oppression

Political violence remains a troubling feature of the Mnangagwa administration, particularly against those perceived as opponents to the ruling ZANU-PF party. Reports of intimidation, arbitrary arrests, and violence against peaceful protesters continue to emerge, casting a long shadow over any attempts at showcasing goodwill.

The timing of Mnangagwa’s donation, just weeks before the festive season, also raises concerns about the political motives behind such gestures. Critics argue that this act of charity is less about genuine compassion and more about securing political favor, especially in light of the ongoing economic challenges and discontent within the population.

A Controversial Christmas Gift

While the donation of rice to care homes might be viewed by some as an admirable act of generosity, it remains overshadowed by the broader issues of governance that continue to plague Mnangagwa’s administration. Corruption, human rights violations, and political violence are not easily forgotten, especially when they persist despite claims of reform and development.

For many, the “early Christmas present” from the President is not a cure for the deeper ailments afflicting Zimbabwe. Until the issues of corruption and political violence are addressed with real, meaningful change, such charitable acts will remain tainted by the dissonance between the government’s words and actions.

In the end, the rice may feed a few, but it is unlikely to heal the divisions and deep-rooted grievances that continue to define Zimbabwe’s political landscape under Mnangagwa’s rule.

Botswana to Regularize Undocumented Zimbabweans

Gaborone, Botswana – December 12, 2024

In a groundbreaking announcement, Botswana’s President Duma Boko has revealed plans to regularize the stay of undocumented Zimbabweans living in the country, citing Zimbabwe’s skilled human resources as a valuable asset. This move is expected to benefit thousands of Zimbabweans, with an estimated 150,000 already residing in Botswana.

Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Botswana, Henry Mukonoweshuro, welcomed the announcement, highlighting the potential benefits for both nations. Speaking in an interview yesterday, Mukonoweshuro said, “We welcome the pronouncements by the new President Advocate Duma Boko. His idea to document and regularize Zimbabweans is a positive trajectory. It’s better to have regularized individuals who can be traced, trusted, and allowed to seek formal employment.”

The Ambassador noted that Zimbabweans in Botswana are well-trained, skilled, and committed, making them a valuable addition to the workforce. He compared the move to South Africa’s 2009 special dispensation for Zimbabweans and expressed optimism about implementing a similar framework in Botswana.

Mukonoweshuro confirmed plans to meet with Botswana’s Minister of Immigration and Human Rights to discuss the rollout of the initiative. “I am yet to meet the new Minister and Permanent Secretary to actualize the President’s pronouncement,” he said.

The Zimbabwean Embassy in Gaborone is already playing a critical role in supporting its citizens in Botswana. The consular office serves up to 150 Zimbabweans daily, providing services such as passport renewals, permit documentation, and birth certificate applications. The Embassy is also compiling a database of Zimbabweans living in Botswana to streamline the regularization process.

Zimbabweans living in Botswana have expressed satisfaction with the consular services offered by the Embassy. Dr. Brighton Hurombo, a lecturer at the University of Botswana, commended the quality of services. “I am very happy with the assistance provided here. Today, I was able to resolve my driver’s license issues, allowing me to travel to Harare for the holidays without any problems,” he said.

The announcement by President Boko marks a significant step in strengthening relations between Botswana and Zimbabwe while ensuring the inclusion and recognition of Zimbabweans in Botswana’s social and economic framework. Further updates on the documentation process and its implementation are expected in the coming weeks.

This initiative is expected to foster trust, provide job opportunities, and harness the skilled labor of Zimbabweans for Botswana’s benefit.

Climate Change Threatens Livelihoods In Hwange

By A Correspondent

Extreme temperatures fueled by climate change have ravaged Kalope Dam, a vital water source in Hwange, leaving it nearly dry and plunging the community into distress. The severe drought, exacerbated by El Niño, has pushed the Lukosi Irrigation Scheme to the brink, jeopardizing the livelihoods of thousands.

The dire situation is compounded by the relentless heat, which continues to drain the dam’s last drops, further exacerbating the community’s woes. Villagers are racing against time, anxiously awaiting the next rains to replenish the dam and salvage their crops.

“We’re in a precarious position,” said a local resident. “Water from Kalope Dam sustains our irrigation. Without rains, our crops won’t survive. Our cattle are getting stuck in the mud, and the situation is dire for both livestock and crops.”

As the community holds its breath, hoping for a reversal of fortunes, the consequences of climate change remain stark. Kalope Dam’s depletion serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of extreme temperatures on local ecosystems and livelihoods.

Mozambican Opposition Leader Announces Own Swearing-in Date

By A Correspondent

Venâncio Mondlane, an opposition candidate in Mozambique, has declared that he will swear himself in as the country’s fifth elected president on January 15, 2025. He has called on Mozambicans to prepare for the day.

This announcement comes just 34 days before President Nyusi’s term officially ends. However, the ruling party’s candidate, Daniel Chapo, has been declared the winner of the presidential election. The opposition, claiming election fraud, has vowed to challenge the results in court.

According to the national election commission, Chapo won with 70.67% of the vote, while Mondlane, an independent candidate, secured 20.32%. Ossufo Momade, representing the opposition party Renamo, came third with 5.81%.

The October 9 election results mark the continuation of Frelimo’s rule, the governing party that has held power since Mozambique’s independence from Portugal in 1975. Frelimo previously fought a 15-year civil war against Renamo, which later became the main opposition and contested in this election.

The opposition has rejected the outcome and filed a complaint with the Constitutional Council, seeking a ruling on the election results.

The Constitutional Council, which is the highest authority on constitutional and electoral law in Mozambique, has instructed the National Elections Commission (CNE) to address discrepancies in the vote counts across the presidential, parliamentary, and provincial assembly elections. When the CNE announced preliminary results on October 24, it acknowledged the discrepancies but stated it did not have sufficient time to investigate them thoroughly before the results deadline.

The Constitutional Council has three weeks to complete its investigation, and a final decision is still awaited.

Meanwhile, the Council of State convened earlier today at 10 a.m. to discuss the political situation amid ongoing post-election protests. Mozambicans are now awaiting the outcome of these deliberations.

Will VR and AR Be More Mainstream in 2025?

As we near 2025, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies show great promise. They are becoming an important part of daily life. VR and AR have already influenced many industries. These include gaming, education, and healthcare, but there are some questions surrounding them.

The Current State of VR and AR Technology

VR puts users in fully digital worlds, and they usually need a headset and controllers. AR adds digital stuff to the real world. People often use it on smartphones or AR glasses.

Training simulations also spark big interest. Fields like aviation, medicine, and military defense benefit from this tech. AR appears more in everyday apps. For example, it is useful when people want to see products in retail and real estate in a new and refreshing way.

Both technologies are still not in every home. However, improvements in hardware and software are happening. Better content development is also helping, and it opens a door to more widespread use.

Drivers of Widespread Adoption

Better Hardware

Improved hardware plays a big role in the wider use of VR and AR. VR headsets are getting lighter, more comfortable, and cheaper. The Meta Quest 3 headset offers high quality at a lower price compared to previous models. This makes it easier for people to try VR.

AR glasses, once large and awkward, now look and work better. These changes make more people interested in purchasing a VR or an AR device.

Expanding Content and Applications

VR and AR require a lot of content choices to become popular with everyone. VR content includes more than just gaming. It also covers movies, concerts, and virtual tourism. These experiences are becoming increasingly immersive and varied.

AR finds uses in healthcare, retail, and education, but also with the Apple Vision Pro headset, you can play interactive games or visit a virtual live casino. These fields discover new methods to weave AR into everyday life. AR applications let people see products before buying. Users are able to try fashion and makeup virtually.

Integration with Other Technologies

VR and AR technologies are merging with other advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G. AI creates personalized and responsive experiences. The low-latency speeds of 5G create smoother VR and AR interactions. These combined technologies may increase the appeal of VR and AR.

Challenges to Mainstream Adoption

Despite the exciting possibilities, VR and AR probably won’t be completely mainstream by 2025 because of several obstacles.

Cost and Accessibility

Even with lower prices, VR and AR devices are still expensive for many people. High-end VR headsets often cost hundreds of dollars. This is a big problem for people who use them just for fun. To become truly mainstream, the prices have to keep dropping.

Content Limitations

VR and AR content libraries are expanding, but they remain very limited compared to television, video streaming, or mobile gaming. Content creators must develop diverse, high-quality experiences for both niche and general audiences if they want to be successful.

VR and AR need more exciting content to gain wider use.

User Comfort and Experience

VR often causes discomfort or motion sickness for some users, which limits its widespread adoption. There have been improvements, especially with higher refresh rates and better tracking systems. However, user comfort remains a challenge. In AR, ensuring devices are lightweight and barely noticeable is key. AR devices must provide a smooth user experience and should not distract from daily tasks.

Final Thoughts

VR and AR might become mainstream in 2025. It largely depends on how the industry tackles the barriers to adoption. Progress in hardware, content, and its integration with other technologies is crucial. These advances will make these immersive technologies more accessible to people.

Chaos In Harare Police Caught On Camera

Dear Editor

The bustling street was alive with activity, but the atmosphere suddenly shifted when council and police officers stormed in, their movements urgent and aggressive. They had been chasing someone through the crowded area, their eyes scanning every face, but their target slipped away into the sea of people. Frustrated and unwilling to leave empty-handed, they began grabbing random individuals, their actions fueled by anger and desperation.

Onlookers watched in disbelief as innocent bystanders were accosted, their protests growing louder with each unjustified act of aggression. “This is wrong!” someone shouted, their voice echoing through the street. Others joined in, yelling at the officers to stop, to reconsider their actions.

Among the crowd was a man, just walking by, minding his own business. He wasn’t part of the chase, nor had he raised his voice, but he caught their attention. Perhaps it was the way he moved, or perhaps he was simply an easy target in their line of sight. The officers turned their focus on him, their frustration redirected. The chaos intensified as people yelled in his defense, but the scene was already spiraling out of control.

It was a moment that laid bare the tension between authority and community—a confrontation sparked by misplaced actions and fueled by the crowd’s growing sense of injustice.

Tshabangu Throws Heavy Stones At Welsh

By Political Reporter- The disputed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, has vowed that faction leader Welshman Ncube will not succeed in challenging his authority.

Tshabangu’s defiant response came after Welshman Ncube, along with deputy leader Lynette Karenyi Kore, Sesel Zwidzai, and Edwin Mushoriwa, filed an urgent High Court application seeking to block his decision to remove CCC Members of Parliament from key parliamentary committee positions.
