How to Organize Your Financial Records for Tax Season

Tax season can be a stressful time for many, but being organized can make the process much smoother. Properly organizing your financial records not only helps you file your taxes more efficiently but also ensures that you maximize your deductions and credits. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to organize your financial records for tax season.

Start Early

The Importance of Early Preparation

Starting your tax preparation early can save you a lot of headaches. Early preparation allows you to gather all necessary documents and address any issues that may arise, such as missing information or errors. It also gives you ample time to consult with a tax professional if needed.

Create a Tax Checklist

Begin by creating a checklist of all the documents you will need. This list might include:

  • W-2 forms from employers
  • 1099 forms for other income
  • Mortgage interest statements
  • Property tax receipts
  • Medical expenses
  • Charitable donations
  • Investment income documents

Having a checklist ensures that you don’t overlook any crucial documents.

Gather Your Documents

Income Documents

Collect all forms of income documentation. This includes W-2 forms for salaried employees, 1099 forms for freelancers and independent contractors, and any other forms of income such as rental property income or alimony.

Expense Records

Gather receipts and records of deductible expenses. This can include medical expenses, charitable contributions, and business expenses if you are self-employed. Keeping these organized will help you claim all eligible deductions. To know more about the best tax relief services, find the list at Management.org.

Investment Records

Compile records of any investment income, including dividends, interest, and capital gains. If you’ve sold any investments, make sure to include the purchase and sale dates as well as the amounts.

Organize by Category

Create Folders

Set up physical or digital folders for different categories of documents. Common categories include income, expenses, investments, and property records. Label each folder clearly to make it easy to find the documents when you need them.

Use a Filing System

A consistent filing system can significantly simplify the process. Consider organizing your documents chronologically within each category. For example, keep your monthly bank statements in order from January to December.

Use Technology

Digital Storage Solutions

Consider scanning your documents and storing them digitally. Digital storage solutions like cloud services (Google Drive, Dropbox) or dedicated tax software can help you keep your records safe and accessible. Digital records are easier to search through and less likely to be lost.

Tax Software

Using tax software can help streamline the organization process. These programs often allow you to import your financial data directly from your bank or employer, making it easier to keep everything in one place. Many tax software options also provide checklists and reminders to ensure you have all the necessary documents.

Track Your Expenses Year-Round

Consistent Record-Keeping

Make a habit of tracking your expenses throughout the year. Consistent record-keeping will make tax season less overwhelming. Use apps or spreadsheets to log your expenses as they occur. This habit ensures that you don’t miss any deductible expenses and makes it easier to prepare your tax return.

Monthly Reviews

Set aside time each month to review and organize your financial records. Regular reviews help you stay on top of your finances and catch any discrepancies early. This practice also makes it easier to gather your documents at the end of the year.

Consult with a Professional

Seek Expert Advice

If your financial situation is complex, consider consulting with a tax professional. An accountant or tax advisor can provide valuable insights and help you organize your records efficiently. They can also ensure that you take advantage of all available deductions and credits.

Prepare Questions in Advance

Before meeting with a tax professional, prepare a list of questions and gather all relevant documents. This preparation will make the consultation more productive and help you get the most out of their expertise.

Keep Personal and Business Finances Separate

Separate Accounts

If you’re self-employed or run a small business, keep your personal and business finances separate. Use separate bank accounts and credit cards for business transactions. This separation makes it easier to track business expenses and prepare your tax return.

Detailed Business Records

Maintain detailed records of all business income and expenses. Use accounting software to track your business finances and generate reports. Detailed records are crucial for accurately reporting your income and claiming business deductions.

Review and Double-Check

Verify Accuracy

Before filing your tax return, review all your documents and verify their accuracy. Check for any missing information or errors that could delay your filing or trigger an audit.

Cross-Reference with Your Checklist

Cross-reference your gathered documents with your initial checklist to ensure you have everything you need. This final review helps you catch any overlooked items and ensures a complete and accurate tax return.

Secure Your Records

Safe Storage

Store your physical documents in a safe, organized location. Use a filing cabinet or a safe to protect your records from damage or loss. For digital records, ensure that they are backed up regularly and protected with strong passwords.

Retention Period

Keep your tax records for at least seven years. The IRS generally has three years to audit your return or claim any additional tax, but this period can extend to seven years in certain circumstances. Keeping your records for this period ensures that you are prepared for any inquiries or audits.

Conclusion

Organizing your financial records for tax season doesn’t have to be a daunting task. By starting early, using technology, and maintaining consistent record-keeping habits, you can simplify the process and reduce stress. Whether you manage your taxes independently or consult with a professional, being organized will help you file accurately and take advantage of all available deductions and credits. With a bit of preparation, you can navigate tax season smoothly and confidently.

HH Boycotts Mnangagwa Led Summit

By Business Reporter-The President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, Thursday boycotted a summit hosted by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and sent his Tourism Minister, Rodney Sikumba, to represent him.

The Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) Summit, which is currently ongoing in Harare, is also being attended by the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi.

Nyusi arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport Thursday morning for the meeting.

Hichilema’s decision to avoid the Harare summit may stem from the deteriorating diplomatic ties between Harare and Lusaka. Recently, while in Russia, Mnangagwa accused Hichilema of posing a regional security risk due to his associations with the United States and other Western governments.

This accusation prompted Lusaka to summon Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Zambia, Charity Charamba, seeking an explanation for Mnangagwa’s comments.

The background to this animosity traces back to the historically tense relations between the two leaders, exacerbated by differing political alignments and external influences.

Mnangagwa, who has faced widespread criticism for his governance and human rights record, has often taken a confrontational stance towards Western nations, contrasting with Hichilema’s more open and collaborative approach with these countries.

The ZIMOZA TFCA event follows the Kavango Transfrontier Conservation Area summit held in Zambia recently.

The ZIMOZA TFCA agreement aims to:

  • Provide a tool to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Become the sixth initiative in the region involving Zimbabwe.
  • Cover wildlife corridors home to lions, elephants, buffaloes, and other animals.
  • Reflect the unity of communities living in these areas, which are divided by borders but share a common culture and history.
  • Demonstrate Zimbabwe’s commitment to delivering on the set targets established by the agreement.
  • Advocate for a holistic approach to address the challenge of human-wildlife conflict.
  • Highlight the far-reaching consequences of drought on wildlife, agriculture, and water systems.

The ZIMOZA TFCA is a significant step towards regional conservation efforts, despite the diplomatic friction overshadowing the summit.

Today, I had the honour of welcoming President Nyusi of Mozambique to State House for the Tripartite Summit on the Transfrontier Conservation Area.

During our discussions, we addressed the pressing issue of human-wildlife conflict caused by the growing animal population, impacting the 600,000 people residing in these areas.

We recognise that borders should not divide us, and this agreement will open avenues for local communities to benefit and to implement a holistic approach to address their challenges, including the pressing issue of wildlife conflict.

Buy Bicycles, Government Tells Junior Police Officers After Removing Transport Allowance

By A Correspondent

In a sudden and controversial move, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has sparked outrage among junior police officers by cutting their transport allowances without prior notice.

This decision has not only left the officers disillusioned but has also strained morale within the law enforcement ranks.

According to a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the junior officers were taken aback when they discovered the abrupt axing of their allowances.

Commenting on the fiasco, Citizens spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba said :

“Outrageous! Junior police officers are reportedly unhappy after the regime abruptly axed their transport allowances without warning. “

The move, seen as a cost-cutting measure by the government, has had a significant impact on the daily lives of these officers, many of whom rely on these allowances to commute to work.

To exacerbate the situation, authorities allegedly suggested that officers purchase bicycles as an alternative means of transportation, a proposal that has been met with further frustration and indignation among the affected personnel.

“To add insult to injury, authorities allegedly told them to purchase bicycles when they voiced their concerns,” a political observer said.

This directive has been perceived as impractical and insensitive, considering the economic challenges faced by many junior officers.

The discontent among the police ranks underscores broader issues of economic hardship and deteriorating living conditions in Zimbabwe.

Many junior officers already struggle to make ends meet on their current salaries, which are often insufficient to cover basic necessities.

The removal of transport allowances exacerbates these challenges, making it increasingly difficult for officers to fulfill their duties effectively.

Nelson Chamisa Defends Strategic Ambiguity

By Tinashe Sambiri

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has reaffirmed his commitment to the doctrine of strategic ambiguity amidst growing scrutiny.

In a recent statement issued on Friday, Advocate Chamisa stated:

“The doctrine of strategic ambiguity serves to confound our adversaries.

The citizens are poised to govern! We stand as the victorious force united under one vision, one people, one nation. #ForEveryone #Godisinit.”

Strategic ambiguity is a communication strategy commonly employed in political discourse and negotiations.

It involves deliberate ambiguity or vagueness in statements or actions to keep adversaries unsure of one’s intentions or strategies.

Advocates argue that it provides flexibility and prevents opponents from developing effective counter-strategies.

Advocate Nelson Chamisa’s use of strategic ambiguity likely aims to maintain flexibility in political maneuvers, enabling him to adapt to changing circumstances while presenting a unified front to his supporters.

DJ Caught Feeding Lies To Villagers About SADC Leadership

By A Correspondent| Popular Zanu PF apologist DJ Masomere was caught on video that is widely circulating on social media while telling innocent villagers that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was voted to be the chairperson of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).

In the video, DJ Masomere who benefitted from a vehicle from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo, is heard saying

“President vedu vari kugadzwa kuti SADC chair, SADC yose yakaungana ikati toisa ani leader, SADC nyika dzose dzemu SADC ndobva dzagara, vana Ramaphosa vakadai, vanani vakadai, totsvaga ani nhai veduwee, Botswana yatambura, umwe akati moda ani ruoko svuu, moda ani, ED, umwe ED, ah ED, ED saka President vedu manyama vari kugadzwa kuva SADC chair muna August, saka President vedu vanenge vave President we Zimbabwe vozoita mukuru we SADC saka ndinenge ndave MDC wa President na MC we SADC,” said Masomere to wild cheers from the congregants.

Meanwhile, Zimbabweans have reacted to this blatant abuse of villagers by DJ Masomere who deliberately misrepresented facts.

Hichilema Snubs Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent| Zambian President Hichilema Hakainde on Thursday boycotted a three-nation wildlife conservation summit in Harare in his continuing diplomatic spat with Zimbabwe’s leader Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Hakainde had been expected to attend the signing ceremony of the Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia Tripartite Transfrontier Conservation Area memorandum of agreement but sent his tourism minister instead.

Mnangagwa and Mozambique’s Filipe Nyusi represented their two countries.

Hichilema has called for mediation between Zambia and Zimbabwe after Mnangagwa, unaware his comments would be made public, told Russian President Vladimir Putin on a trip to Moscow in June that posed a security threat to his country through its growing military links with the United States.

“The Americans,” Mnangagwa told Putin, “are consolidating their power in that country (Zambia), both in terms of security and in terms of financial support to make sure that we feel lonely.”

He asked Putin for support “especially in the area of defence and security as well as food security.”

Zambia said Mnangagwa’s comments were “an unwarranted attack on the country’s sovereignty” and called for “urgent and immediate intervention” by regional countries to defuse the tensions.

The row deepened after Zimbabwe’s disputed elections in August 2023 when a SADC election observation mission headed by Zambian national Nevers Mumba concluded that the polls were not held according to regional and international standards on democratic elections, angering Mnangagwa.

Govt Cuts Transport Allowances For Junior Police Officers

The government has scrapped the transport allowances for junior police officers without any prior notice, leaving them in a precarious situation as they now struggle to commute to their workplaces.

According to officers who spoke on condition of anonymity, this decision is forcing them to resort to humiliating negotiations with unlicensed taxi operators, known as “mushikashika,” to secure free rides.

This situation not only compromises the dignity of the officers but also places them in a conflicted position, as they are tasked with enforcing regulations against the very same mushikashika operators they are now dependent on for transportation.

A police officer said junior cops have not been receiving the transport allowance since April 2024

Mako Haruzivishe Studying Law At Kent University

Former Zimbabwean opposition youth leader Makomborero Haruzivishe is currently studying law at Kent University in United Kingdom.

Haruzivishe who fled Zimbabwe after suffering extended imprisonment and threats to his life due to clashes with law enforcement agents in his home country has also been granted refugee status.

Samuel Townend, Chair of the Bar Council of England and Wales, shared the news on LinkedIn, highlighting the challenges Haruzivishe faced in Zimbabwe.

“A privilege to attend the 30-year commemoration of a democratic South Africa at Westminster Abbey today. I was also lucky to meet Makomborero Haruzivishe, a law student at the University of Kent, having been a law student and the National Student Union leader in Zimbabwe, persecuted, life threatened, and chased out by government forces there before successfully obtaining asylum here in the UK. Well done on your end-of-year exams Mako, and go well!” Townend posted.

In response, Haruzivishe expressed his gratitude on Facebook. “A privilege to attend the 30-year commemoration of a democratic South Africa at Westminster Abbey. I was also lucky to meet Samuel Townend KC, the Chair of the Bar Council of England and Wales.

“He is a legal giant and accomplished leader known for being ‘a great strategist and fantastic in cross-examination’ and ‘very clear, logical, and persuasive’ (Chambers UK) and also described by the Legal 500 as ‘a first-class advocate with the tenacity of a pitbull and manners of an English gentleman’.”

The former University of Zimbabwe student was sentenced to 14 months in prison for allegedly inciting public violence during a 2020 protest in Harare. The charges stemmed from his participation in a demonstration where he whistled at the busy Copa Cabana terminus, purportedly to rally protestors against the police.

He was accused of participating in public demonstrations with the intent to incite violence. He was subsequently convicted of inciting violence and resisting lawful arrest, for which he was sentenced on April 6, 2021, to 36 months in prison. At the time of his sentencing, Haruzivishe faced three other charges, all connected to his activism.

Although he appealed the sentence and was granted bail by a High Court judge in July 2021, Haruzivishe remained in prison after a magistrate ruled to revoke it until he had been tried for the other three offenses. After 10 months in detention, Haruzivishe was eventually granted bail on January 7, 2022, for the outstanding charges and released from prison the following day.

During his detention, British Embassy, commented on the arrest and detention, stating, “The British Embassy in Harare is in touch with Makomborero Haruzivishe’s lawyers as we await the outcome of his appeal. The UK regularly urges the Zimbabwean government to meet its international and domestic obligations by respecting the rule of law and the freedoms and rights enshrined in the Zimbabwean Constitution, safeguarding human rights, and committing to genuine political and economic reform for the benefit of all Zimbabweans.”

Now a Kent University Law student, Haruzivishe’s asylum status in England means the 30-year-old cannot return to Zimbabwe unless there are substantial changes to the threats that prompted his initial flight.

Under UK asylum regulations, individuals are typically prohibited from returning to their home countries while their asylum status is active, which could last for several years.

Fresh Scandal For Wicknell Chivhayo as Instagram Screenshots Expose Affair With Prophet’s Wife

By A Correspondent| Social media was abuzz this morning as users woke up to screenshots of Instagram chats allegedly involving businessman Wicknell Chivhayo and various women. Among the women named in the chats is the wife of controversial prophet Ed Branson. Reports suggest that Chivhayo bought her a car and handed it to her through her husband, disguised as a gift.

Is Wicknell Bedding Prophet’s Wife?

Wicknell Chivayo’s Buys Another Man’s Wife A Car

By Showbiz Reporter | Harare, Zimbabwe– In a development that has sent shockwaves through Zimbabwe’s social and religious circles, controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has made headlines once again. Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and high-profile connections, recently purchased a luxury car for Prophet Edd Branson’s wife, stirring a whirlwind of speculation and controversy.

Sources close to the matter revealed that Chivayo bought the car at the request of Prophet Branson’s wife, who is suspected to be one of Chivayo’s girlfriends. The arrangement was reportedly orchestrated to make the gift appear as a surprise from Prophet Branson himself.

The WhatsApp chats

According to insiders, Prophet Branson’s wife instructed Chivayo to present the car as a gift intended for “Mai Pastor,” a title affectionately used for the wives of prominent religious leaders. She further advised Chivayo to convince Prophet Branson that he, as the husband, should be the one to hand over the extravagant present to her, enhancing the illusion of a surprise.

The woman in pic

This elaborate scheme has raised eyebrows and led to heated discussions both online and within the local community. The gift, which some sources claim is a top-of-the-line luxury vehicle, has been perceived by many as an inappropriate display of wealth and favoritism, given the alleged romantic undertones.

Neither Wicknell Chivayo nor Prophet Edd Branson has publicly commented on the incident. However, the story has quickly become the talk of the town, with many questioning the ethical and moral implications of such actions within the context of Zimbabwe’s cultural and religious norms.

Social media platforms have been abuzz with reactions, ranging from outrage to disbelief. Some have called for greater scrutiny into the personal lives of public figures, while others have expressed concern over the potential impact of such revelations on the integrity and trust within religious communities.

As the story continues to unfold, the focus remains on the key figures involved and the potential fallout from this controversial episode. The car, a symbol of both opulence and scandal, has inadvertently become the latest catalyst for debate on the intersection of wealth, power, and morality in Zimbabwean society.

Government Ineptitude Exposed

The central government owes the plant millions of dollars, resulting in underutilization of this vital resource.

In a statement on Wednesday, Tsvangirai said, “I visited the Morton Jeffrey water treatment plant with the Parliamentary portfolio committee on local government to understand the challenges faced by management and to appreciate the hard work of the staff in ensuring the city has access to clean water.”

He emphasized that the Ministry of Defence owes substantial funds to Morton Jeffrey, which prevents the plant from operating at full capacity.

The implications of Zivhu’s statement are profound. By recognizing the inevitability of change and the importance of strategy over violence, Zivhu appears to advocate for a more constructive political environment.

He emphasized that progress requires collective effort, development, and careful planning, urging for unity in improving the nation.

This shift in rhetoric may indicate a broader political strategy within Zanu PF or a personal change of heart regarding the opposition’s role in Zimbabwe’s future.

It reflects a growing acknowledgment that, regardless of party affiliation, the need for development and strategic governance is paramount for the country’s advancement.

As Zimbabwe approaches critical political moments, such statements could signal a potential softening in the often adversarial relationship between the ruling party and the opposition.

Whether this is a genuine call for collaboration or a tactical maneuver remains to be seen, but Zivhu’s comments have certainly stirred the political pot and sparked discussions on the path forward for Zimbabwe.

Sad: Mnangagwa Nails Chamisa Aide

Tineyi Mapepa, our cluster leader for Mwenezi District, has been sentenced to 20 months in prison on trumped-up charges.

The Mwenezi Magistrate Court falsely convicted him of public violence, alleging he organized a meeting last year in preparation for the August elections

Despite his innocence, he is being persecuted for standing up for a better Zimbabwe.

The regime fears anyone who dares to stand up for what is right. His imprisonment is merely an intimidation tactic aimed at making Mwenezi a no-go zone for the opposition.

Our legal team will appeal the ruling at the High Court, as he is innocent.

We will continue fighting for a better Zimbabwe until real change comes to our country. #FreeTinayeMapepa

Health Crisis Rocks Mnangagwa’s Inner Circle As Top Officials Fall Ill

Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inner circle, including his deputies, is grappling with a mounting health crisis.

The latest victim is former Education Minister Cain Mathema, who recently suffered a stroke.

Additionally, Vice President Kembo Mohadi recently struggled to complete a speech at an event held to donate laptops at Manama High School in Gwanda South.

Mohadi experienced a severe bout of coughing, forcing him to pause his speech and request water. Throughout the event, he appeared pale and tired.

Despite his appearance, the 74-year-old Vice President dismissed rumours about his deteriorating health, asserting that he is fit but feeling the effects of old age.

However, this incident follows a worrying pattern.

Last October, Mohadi collapsed during the Gutu West parliamentary by-election launch, leading to security personnel forcing journalists to delete videos of the incident.

Mohadi, who was campaigning for Zanu PF youth leader John Paradza, reportedly also collapsed at the University of Zimbabwe while delivering an Africa Day public lecture.

He struggled to stand and had to complete the lecture seated.

In a recent visit to check on Mathema’s recovery, Mohadi himself appeared frail.

Mathema, last seen in public two years ago, has been bedridden since then.

These health challenges are part of a broader pattern affecting Mnangagwa’s administration.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is also battling chronic health issues and frequently travels to China for routine medical check-ups.

The health crises among Mnangagwa’s top officials raise serious concerns about the stability and functionality of the current administration.

Cain Mathema Suffers A Stroke

By Political Reporter- Former Education Minister Cain Mathema has suffered a stroke, highlighting the frailty within President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inner circle.

Ailing Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who recently collapsed at a public event, visited Mathema on Wednesday and observed his recovery.

Mohadi stated, “I had just come to pay him a visit, I had not seen him for quite a while. I am happy that he is recovering very well, save for his left hand that is still weak. With exercise, he will recover. He is a prolific writer, he is still writing and has shown me some of his publications. We are talking about a hero of the liberation struggle and a hero in the literature world with over 25 books.”

Ambassador Mathema, last seen in public two years ago, has been bedridden since then.

His health challenges are part of a broader pattern affecting Mnangagwa’s administration, with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga also battling chronic health issues.

Varakashi Mock Joshua Maponga For Staying In Caves

By A Correspondent

Former SDA pastor and self-proclaimed philosopher Joshua Maponga has taken a unique approach to reconnect with his ancestors by living in caves and mountains.

This unconventional choice has drawn attention and criticism from various quarters.

On Wednesday, Zanu PF sympathisers known as Varakashi, scoffed at Maponga’s decision, particularly highlighting the current economic situation.

“Given the state of rent these days, I don’t blame Maponga for staying in caves,” Zanu PF Varakashi remarked, underscoring the challenges many face in urban living.

Maponga’s lifestyle choice raises questions about the intersection of spirituality and practical living, especially as economic pressures mount.

Maponga himself is a known Zanu PF apologist.

Tsvangirai Exposes Gross Government Incompetence

By Tinashe Sambiri

Norton MP Richard Tsvangirai has highlighted the incompetence of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration regarding the Morton Jeffrey Water Treatment Plant.

“If the city receives the funds it is owed, it will significantly improve water provision,” Tsvangirai concluded.

Unpredictable Zivhu Praises Chamisa

Hichilema Snubs Mnangagwa

By Business Reporter-The President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, has snubbed a summit hosted by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, opting instead to send his Tourism Minister, Rodney Sikumba, to represent him.

The Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) Summit, which is currently ongoing in Harare, is also being attended by the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi.

Nyusi arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this morning for the meeting.

The ZIMOZA TFCA is a significant step towards regional conservation efforts, despite the diplomatic friction overshadowing the summit.

Mnangagwa Kicks-Out Two Chinese Miners

By Crime and Courts Reporter- The government has deported two Chinese nationals who tortured two mine workers at Makanga Mine in Bindura.

The deportation of the two Chinese nationals follows a video that circulated on social media showing the worker tied up and hanging from a loader bucket.

ZimEye had also written extensively about the abuse of workers by Chinese nationals, including these two who have been deported.

Posting on his X handle, Information Secretary Nick Mangwana said:

“The two foreign nationals involved in this abuse depicted on a video that went viral were deported today (Wednesday).”

The Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) Wednesday had said they were incensed by the savage attack on the mine worker.

In a statement, ZMF said the barbaric act was a blatant violation of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, which guarantees the right to personal security and freedom from torture or cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment.
“We will not stand idly while our members are subjected to such egregious abuse. ZMF vehemently condemns this despicable act and demands an immediate arrest and prosecution of the responsible persons, thorough investigation into the mine’s labour practices and swift action against any violations, and adequate support and compensation for the victim,” reads part of the statement.
“We will not tolerate such blatant disregard for human rights and the rule of law. ZMF stands in solidarity with the victim and will fight tirelessly to ensure justice is served.”

Penny Penny Now Member Of Parliament For Zuma’s Party

Flamboyant artist Penny Penny is set to join the likes of Brian Molefe and Lucky Montana as representatives of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in Parliament in the coming days.

The party’s chief whip in Parliament Sihle Ngubane has told Eyewitness News that the three would be joined by Siyabonga Gama.

He says the party is finalising administrative requirements in order to pave the way for the four to be sworn in

The three are disgraced former executives who have all been accused of aiding the state capture project.

Meanwhile, the musician quit the African National Congress (ANC) in the lead up to the elections. He complained about not being treated well in the former liberation movement.

Ngubane has defended his party’s reason for bringing the four to Parliament.

“That when white monopoly capital discards the professionalism of our people, thina we will always go and take them from wherever they are in the dustbin, clean them up, wash them up and put them back on the pedestal.

‘There is no ulahliwe (thrown away) in our culture, even in your family, you can make as many mistakes as you can, but your parents will never discard you as their kid,” said Ngubane.

Chinese Miner ‘arrested’ For Torturing Workers

By Crime and Courts Reporter- A Chinese miner has been arrested for allegedly torturing two workers at Makanga Mine in Bindura, Mashonaland Central Province.

The incident, which was captured in a video that went viral on social media, has sparked widespread outrage.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed they have identified both the suspects and the victims in the video.

This development follows coverage by ZimEye highlighting the abuse of Zimbabwean workers by Chinese nationals.

The video footage shows the Chinese miner tying up the two workers and suspending them in the air using a frontend loader.

He is then seen whipping the workers, accusing them of stealing an unspecified amount of diesel from the mine.

In a statement on Wednesday, the ZRP said a thorough investigation is underway to determine the full details of the incident.

“Reference is made to a video which went viral on social media platforms depicting two handcuffed complainants being lifted by a frontend loader at the instigation of two suspects at Makanga Mine, Hereford Farm, Bindura,” the ZRP statement read. “The ZRP confirms that the suspects and complainants have been identified in connection with the incident which occurred on 13/07/24. Investigations are in progress.”

The Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF), which represents miners across the country, has strongly condemned the actions of Chinese nationals. The ZMF described the incident as “appalling, vile, inhumane, and savage” and has called for the immediate arrest of the Chinese manager.

Mliswa’s ‘Little Girl’ Sister In Trouble?

By A Correspondent| Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka is in serious trouble amid revelations that a vote of no-confidence petition is circulating in the province with sources saying 27 out of 59 provincial executive committee members had already signed the petition.

The scheme, hatched a long time ago, was revived a few weeks ago when provincial secretary for administration Misheck Nyarubero wrote a letter without the blessing of other provincial executive committee leaders, castigating Mliswa-Chikoka for co-opting members into the executive without proper consultations.

“It was after this that PEC [provincial executive committee] members present in the new meeting started complaining about the unilateral appointments that the provincial chairperson Cde M Mliswa had made. PEC members started leaving the meeting venue, complaining about the main provincial co-options being null and void,” wrote Nyarubero to the party’s commissariat department.

This forced Zanu PF political commissar Munyaradzi Machacha to visit the province last week, where he rectified the anomaly by rescinding the co-options. Nyarubero said there was no need for the petition since Mliswa-Chikoka’s mistakes were corrected.

Zanu PF provincial spokesperson Nigel Murambiwa said there was talk of a petition against Mliswa-Chikoka being fronted by some party members within the province. “We urge all to be calm and shun divisions within party structures. Everything is going on well in our province, but you know, this is politics, anything is possible.”

“I heard about the petition, but that’s not my priority. I’m busy with party programmes, including the restructuring exercise. I do not want to concentrate on things that do not promote unity within the party,” she said.

Another Zanu PF senior member in the province, who preferred anonymity for fear of victimisation, said there were some politburo members allegedly pushing for the ouster of the politician. “It’s being instigated by some in the politburo, but unfortunately, it will not be supported by most members in the province. People cannot just wake up and say we no longer want the chairperson,” the member said.

Another member said it was tribalism at play as Mliswa-Chikoka is regarded to be from the Midlands province. “It boils down to tribalism. It’s to do with succession,” they said.

But, according to sources, some view Mliswa-Chikoka as too junior in the party to control the problematic province, referring to her as “a little girl,” while others said she is a “lioness of Mashonaland West” from her Shumba totem.

Bulawayo Businessman Accused Of Mine Asset Theft

By A Correspondent| SHENG AN Mining, a Hope Fountain-based mining company, has filed theft charges against Bulawayo businessman Mohamed Daka (47). Daka is accused of attempting to seize control of the company’s assets in collaboration with Dumisani Dube, who has already appeared in court.

The charges arise from an alleged attempt by Daka to take control of Sheng AN Mine’s assets. According to the complaint, Daka, in collaboration with Dumisani Dube (who has already appeared in court), planned to seize the mine despite Sheng AN being a distinct entity from the former Fools Investments.

On Wednesday, Bulawayo regional magistrate Shingi Mutiro heard that on February 3, 2022, the complainant officially changed its name from Fools Investments to Sheng AN Mining, as recorded by the Registrar of Companies in Bulawayo. Despite this change, the accused allegedly approached the Master of the High Court in Bulawayo in April 2024, falsely placing the defunct Fools Investments under Corporate Rescue.

Dube was appointed as the Corporate Rescue practitioner on April 24, 2024.

On May 2, 2024, Daka, who resides in Bradfield, and Dube allegedly sold an orange excavator, valued at US$281,750, to Simba Dumbura of Mutare for US$150,000. The excavator, leased to Sheng AN Mining from Rich Mark Zimbabwe, was intended to be permanently removed from the complainant’s control.

Police investigations led to the recovery of the stolen excavator on July 10, 2024, in Mutare. The excavator is now being used as evidence in the ongoing case. Authorities have secured acknowledgements of receipt for the cash transaction, with Daka signing as a witness. Witness statements confirm that the excavator did not belong to the now-defunct Fools Investments.

Daka was released on bail by Magistrate Mutiro after meeting the set conditions. The bail amount was set at US$500. Daka must remain at the address provided to the court and report to the ZRP’s Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) twice a week.

Yet Another Attempt On Third Term Seeking Mnangagwa’s Life

HARARE – A multi-agency investigation has been initiated after pilots flying President Emmerson Mnangagwa were allegedly targeted with ground lasers while approaching Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, ZimLive has learned.

The incident reportedly took place just before 7 PM on July 12 as the president returned from a trip to Mozambique aboard an Air Zimbabwe Boeing 737.

According to sources, the pilots reported being blinded by laser-like lights during their approach to the airport.

Authorities are treating the incident “very seriously” and have launched a multi-agency probe involving the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe, the Air Force of Zimbabwe, police, and intelligence services.

Presidency spokesman George Charamba declined to discuss the exact nature of the threat, stating that doing so would “jeopardise investigations currently underway.”

“I can confirm the incident which has affected or menaced many other airports, foremost Gatwick in England. The misdemeanour has to be nipped in the bud,” Charamba said.

Investigators are also looking into whether there is a connection to recent unsolved break-ins at the private homes of the president; his son, David, and the offices of his nephew, Tongai Mnangagwa, during which nothing of value was stolen.

Shining a laser at airplanes, known as a laser strike, is widespread in Europe and the United States but there have been no previously disclosed incidents in Zimbabwe.

High-powered lasers can interfere with pilots, causing distraction, disorientation, or even temporary blindness during critical phases of flight. The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in a report released in January this year, stated that the highest number of laser strikes occur at low altitudes and at night when pilots are busy with take-off or landing procedures.

In 2023, there were 9,652 laser incidents below 10,000 feet, according to the FAA.

In the United Kingdom, where penalties for offenders can result in five-year jail sentences, just over 1,000 laser strikes were recorded, according to the British Airline Pilots Association.

Although there are no known airplane crashes caused by laser strikes, they can have medical consequences for pilots who are required for safety and health reasons to undergo an ophthalmology evaluation and take medical leave after such incidents.

Mnangagwa is currently in his second and final five-year term as president. However, his loyalists want him to stay on at least until 2030, which legal experts say would be unconstitutional.

Mnangagwa maintains that he will retire when his term ends in 2028, but many are unconvinced, citing his reluctance to quash the growing lobby among his supporters.

The uncertainty is reportedly causing consternation in Zanu PF, especially among supporters of his deputy Constantino Chiwenga, seen as his likely successor.

You Are Not Donors Against, MPs Warned

By A Correspondent| Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda says Members of Parliament have unnecessarily turned themselves into charity and social welfare officers for their communities against their roles set out in the country’s constitution.

He was addressing a combination of new and returning legislators during an induction seminar in Harare on Monday.

Legislators in Zimbabwe play three roles which are representative, legislative, and oversight during their five-year terms.

But when campaigning for seats, MPs usually make superfluous pledges to influence developmental and charity projects within their communities, things that do not fall under their purview.

By so doing, Chokuda said, MPs unnecessarily heighten expectation from their constituents to a point of being viewed as community benefactors.

“For the public, when they see an MP, they see a social welfare worker; they also see a funeral assurance body; they also see someone who is responsible for paying school fees for their children.

“But I think it’s important for the public to know that it is not your role. There are other government departments and structures responsible for that,” he said.

Chokuda said parliamentarians’ roles are legislative, representative and oversight based.

“Those are basically the mandate of parliament; not to pay school fees, not to bury people, not to fund graduation parties and so on.

“I know when you were campaigning, you may have promised people differently. You will have to deal with it, but these are your roles,” he said.

Speaking at the same occasion, Deputy Senate president Michael Nyambuya also said legislators were being ‘abused’ by their constituents through some ridiculous demands and expectations during their tenure.

“MPs are really being abused out there. For you to be an MP now, you really need to have resources and it’s not happening here only but in Nigeria, in Ghana,” he said.

Veteran legislator Irene Zindi, a Zanu PF senator, agreed that MPs were overwhelmed.

“Think of a situation where you have 10 or 20 people dying in a month in a constituency and the MP is expected to fund the funerals. This is when you end up hearing MPs with fraud cases trying to make ends meet,” she said.

Woman Dies After Forced Abortion

A 44-year-old nurse at Chiredzi General Hospital has appeared in court facing charges of culpable homicide.

It is alleged that the accused James Chauke from Westroad who is employed as a nurse at Chiredzi General Hospital was in a relationship with Mary Muzorori aged 36.

The court heard that the couple allegedly had a misunderstanding after the deceased became pregnant, with the accused denying responsibility of the pregnancy.

It is alleged that the accused forced the deceased to swallow some unknown pills with the intention of terminating the pregnancy.

It is further alleged the deceased suffered some stomach ache and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chiredzi General Hospital.

The deceased’s body was later exhumed for a post-mortem after her father reported the matter to the police.

The accused was remanded out of custody to the 22nd of this month.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man from Chiredzi has appeared in court facing charges of rape.

The court heard that on the 10th of this month, Chrispen Madara aged 48 from Hippo Valley in Chiredzi allegedly offered another male adult a room to engage in sexual activity with a minor.

The accused was arrested after a tip-off.

The accused appeared in court this Monday and was remanded in custody to the 29th of this month.

Mnangagwa Crucifies Opposition Member

By Tinashe Sambiri

In a troubling development for democratic freedoms in Zimbabwe, Tineyi Mapepa from Mwenezi has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for organizing a rally for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the lead-up to the crucial elections on August 23.

This conviction raises serious concerns about the state of human rights and political expression in the country.

Mapepa’s sentencing highlights a broader pattern of repression faced by political activists and human rights defenders in Zimbabwe.

As the nation approaches pivotal elections, the crackdown on dissenting voices threatens the very foundation of democratic engagement. Genuine human rights advocates cannot afford to remain silent in the face of such injustice.

The plight of individuals like Mapepa underscores the urgent need for both local and international communities to stand in solidarity with those who risk their freedom to promote democratic values.

“The question must be asked: what message does this send to citizens who wish to engage in peaceful political discourse?

The silencing of voices advocating for change serves only to deepen disillusionment and stifle the aspirations of a population yearning for genuine democratic reform,” said Stephen Sarkozy Chuma in a statement on Tuesday.

MP Denounces Discrimination Against Women in Politics

By A Correspondent

Mutsa Murombedzi, the Citizens Proportional Representation MP for Mashonaland West, has called for an immediate end to discrimination against women in politics.

In a statement on Tuesday, MP Murombedzi emphasized the need to address systemic barriers that contribute to gender inequalities hindering women’s leadership.

“Before today’s House sitting, we had a HeForShe dialogue.

The historically violent nature of our politics necessitates comprehensive electoral reforms to enhance women’s participation in elections in Zimbabwe.

By creating a safer and more equitable political environment, Zimbabwe can move toward a more inclusive and representative democracy.”

Mbappé Speaks On Move Los Blancos

Kylian Mbappé: “My French teammates (Camavinga, Tchouameni) always told me come here. Vinicius also texted me A LOT.

Vinicius Junior is a great player, I am so happy to play with him. It’s an honor. We won’t have any problems adapting to each other.

Luka Modrić has the #10, I’m happy just to be close to him in the locker room, because #9 is close to the #10. The number doesn’t matter.

I used to watch all of Real Madrid’s games. I watched Cristiano Ronaldo and thought ‘I wanted to be like HIM!’.. nothing is impossible.

I’m a nobody in Madrid, and the fans still gave me so much love. It’s incredible.

I spoke to Pintus today on how I can be in top physical shape for next season.

Of course, I watched and analyzed Real Madrid’s matches last season so I can adapt. I want to adapt to the dressing room and to tactics. I don’t want to just score a goal and go home.

I learned Spanish because I knew I wanted to join Real Madrid. It helped me a lot.

Today is a day I’ll never forget. I knew it was going to special, but it surpassed my expectations.

Playing for Real Madrid is a different experience. It’s not just about winning trophies, it’s what the club transmits.

I’m not in the Real Madrid WhatsApp group yet (laughs).

I was so excited that I only slept 1.5 hours.”

The Warriors international joined the Ligue 1 club on a permanent transfer this month following his departure at Lyon.

He made the switch to Nantes after spending the second half of the previous campaign on loan there.

“My net worth has dropped by a small margin following my move to Nantes,” said Kadewere, who has twenty-seven appearances for the Zimbabwe national team.

“When I was at Lyon, it was $12.5 million. Now I have moved to a smaller team, and with the Adidas deal, I’m at $8.5 million.

End Discrimination Against Women in Politics, MP Declares

Mnangagwa Crucifies Opposition Activist

I Am Ready For Real Madrid Task: Kylian Mbappé

Former Chamisa Aide Claims Zanu PF Unconquerable

By A Correspondent

Former Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) legislator Takalani Matibe has defected to the ruling Zanu PF party.

To formalize his transition, Matibe recently graduated from the Chitepo School of Ideology at the Dadaya National Youth Training Centre in the Midlands, where he underwent Marxist indoctrination among other teachings.

Previously affiliated with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Matibe served as the MP for Chegutu West from 2008 to 2013. In 2023, he ran as an independent candidate for the same seat but was unsuccessful.

Matibe cited his decision to join Zanu PF as a recognition of the party’s strength and ongoing infrastructure development under President Emmerson Mnangagwa. He stated, “Zanu PF is unconquerable, and no amount of opposition activism can dislodge it.

The opposition is effectively non-existent in Zimbabwe.”

He expressed that instead of opposing the ruling party, he believes in contributing to its developmental agenda, highlighting improvements in infrastructure that he argues were lacking during former President Robert Mugabe’s administration.

Matibe criticized former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, accusing him of selfishness and misguiding opposition activists for personal gain.

“Chamisa sidelined many of us. I want to be relevant and play a part in building my country, which is why I joined the ruling party focused on development and inclusivity.”

Jabulani Sibanda In Deep Trouble Again

Jabulani Sibanda, the national chairperson for the Zanu-PF Bulawayo province, is facing suspension and ouster following a unanimous decision by the provincial leadership, central committee, and some politburo members. The petition against Sibanda cites a range of allegations, including incompetence, corruption, disrespect, and poor performance.

If the move to remove Sibanda succeeds, he will be the second high-profile figure targeted in less than a week, following the ouster of Tendai Charuka. Sources close to the situation report that this marks the beginning of a wider purge aimed at those pushing for President Mnangagwa to remain in power beyond the 2028 constitutional term limit.

“Members of the Central Committee and Politburo have unanimously endorsed the removal of Comrade Jabulani Sibanda from his position as provincial chairperson, citing substantial evidence of activities contrary to the party’s values and ideologies,” a reliable source stated.

“The top leadership has received, supported, and endorsed the petition to suspend the chairman from serving our organization,” the source continued.

According to the petition, Sibanda is accused of incompetence, failing to unite the party, corruption (including allegations of colluding with Charuka to defraud vendors on 5th Street), disrespect, and challenging senior Politburo members such as Comrades Tshinga Dube and Eliphas Mashaba.

A vote of no confidence will be held later, where a new interim Bulawayo provincial chairman will be announced, the source added.

However, a faction supporting Charuka and Sibanda has expressed their intention to fight the suspension, arguing that the process is unconstitutional and, therefore, null and void.

Mnangagwa Ignores Chiwenga’s Coup Helper

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ignored to console the Chaminuka family following the death of Brigadier-General (Rtd) Michael Chaminuka.

Brigadier Chaminuka was Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s Personal Assistant when he was still the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, a position he left in November 2017 after leading a military coup against the late President Robert Mugabe.

Brigadier Chaminuka dies mysteriously on Saturday at the Trumma Centre in Harare.

He died at the age of 62.

Tuesday, Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander, General Philip Valerio Sibanda, visited the Chaminuka family and addressed them.

“This is what we do in the national army whenever we lose one of our own; we join the bereaved family to ease their pain.
“I know there are certain things you want to talk about, and you shall be given that time, but for now, we are ensuring that we bury our colleague with the respect and honour he deserves,” said General Sibanda.

He is survived by wife Dr Lillian Chaminuka and five children; two boys and three girls. Mourners are gathered at number 353 Valyonga Close in Glen Lorne, Harare.

Video of Chinese Miner Abusing Zimbabwean Employee

Video of Chinese Businessman’s Abuse of Zimbabwean Employee Sparks Outrage.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A shocking video has surfaced online, capturing a Chinese businessman punishing a Zimbabwean employee in a brutal and inhumane manner. The disturbing footage has led to widespread calls for a thorough review of labor practices and stronger protections for workers. (video)

The video shows a male Zimbabwean employee being forcibly attached to an earth-moving machine. In full view of other workers, the machine lifts the man’s body, hanging him by the hand from the heavy equipment. The unnamed employee’s suffering and humiliation have sparked outrage and condemnation.

At the end of the clip, a conversation is overheard between a woman and an unidentified man, discussing the reasons behind this appalling act.

“But do you allow this?” the woman asks.

“I do not allow it but he is refusing. I am telling him…” the man replies, seemingly attempting to justify the punishment.

“But you need to check what the law says. When a person has committed thefts, they must just be taken to court,” the woman insists, emphasizing that the legal system should handle such matters. Another man is heard reinforcing that only the police have the authority to deal with these situations.

The release of this video has ignited a firestorm of reactions from human rights organizations, labor unions, and the general public. There is a growing demand for immediate intervention by authorities to ensure justice for the victim and prevent future abuses.

Zimbabwean government officials have been urged to take swift action against the businessman and implement stricter regulations to protect workers from such cruel treatment. This incident has highlighted the urgent need for a robust system to guarantee the rights and dignity of all employees.

As investigations continue, there is a consensus that this incident should serve as a catalyst for stronger enforcement of labor laws and increased oversight of foreign-owned businesses operating in Zimbabwe. The video underscores the need for comprehensive reforms to safeguard the welfare and rights of Zimbabwean workers.

Is Mnangagwa The Right Man To Lead Gukurahundi Reconciliation Programme?

By A Correspondent

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has initiated a community engagement programme aimed at addressing the historical grievances of the Gukurahundi era.

The programme seeks to promote national cohesion and healing through dialogue and reconciliation.

In his statement, Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of unity and national healing, saying: “A nation can only be built by a unified people… Let us choose reconciliation over retribution and emerge stronger as a nation.”

While some observers have expressed skepticism about the programme’s effectiveness, others see it as a step towards acknowledging and addressing the past.

The programme’s success will depend on the willingness of all parties involved to engage in open and honest dialogue.

It is worth noting that Mnangagwa’s leadership in this initiative has been met with mixed reactions, given his alleged involvement in the Gukurahundi atrocities.

However, the programme’s focus on community engagement, reconciliation, and national healing may provide a platform for constructive discussion and progress.”

Condemnation Of Recent Plebiscite in Rwanda

16 July 2024

It is with profound concern that I address the recent presidential election in Rwanda. The reported results, showing a 99.99% victory for the incumbent, are deeply troubling and suggest a fundamental undermining of democratic principles.

Such an outcome is highly improbable in a genuine democratic election, where competition, transparency, and the free expression of the people’s will are paramount. This overwhelming majority raises significant questions about the integrity of the electoral process, including potential voter intimidation, suppression of opposition, and manipulation of the vote count.

True democracy thrives on the diversity of opinions and the ability of citizens to choose their leaders freely and fairly. The recent election in Rwanda fails to meet these essential criteria. I call upon the Rwandan government to uphold its commitment to democratic values and to ensure that future elections are conducted with full transparency and fairness.

I also urge the international community, including organizations such as the United Nations and the African Union, to take immediate action in investigating these electoral irregularities. It is imperative that those responsible for undermining democracy are held accountable and that measures are put in place to support a genuine democratic process in Rwanda.

I stand in solidarity with the people of Rwanda who are striving for a true democracy. Their voices deserve to be heard, their rights respected, and their votes counted fairly. The pursuit of justice and democratic integrity must remain our highest priority.

Kaka Remains Positive

Dynamos coach Genesis ‘Kaka’ Mangombe believes the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race is wide open and the Glamour Boys can still go on and win it.

The Harare giants struggled against old foes Highlanders at Rufaro yesterday and were somewhat fortunate to lose by a respectable margin, as Bosso emerged 2-0 victors.

Mangombe conveniently blamed the defeat on the strike which saw Dynamos players boycotting training for most of last week due to outstanding signing-on fees and winning bonuses but the youthful coach insists DeMbare can still go on and win their first title since 2014 if they put their house in order.

“As for the league, it’s still open. You see, we still have many games to play, if we change our mind, our character and the way we present ourselves and also adjust to some of the problems we have, we can make it,” Mangombe told the media after the game.

“Some of the problems we have are beyond our control (as coaches). Like, we want to win yet we don’t train, if we don’t train then we are bound to lose the game. We have to train, then if there are certain issues, then they are addressed after training.

“But at the same time, these boys (the players) need their problems to be solved as well,” added Mangombe.

Dynamos, who have won just five of their 18 matches this season, trail log leaders FC Platinum by 14 points.

More Troubles For Mike ‘Mbudzi’ Chimombe

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Mike Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu will spend more days in remand prison after Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa denied them bail.

The two are facing fraud charges after they allegedly misappropriated US$7 million from the Presidential Goats Scheme.

Gofa said Chimombe and Mpofu are facing a serious charge, adding that the duo could interfere with State witnesses. Said Gofa:

In as much as this is not yet a trial, the accused were supposed to offer a meaningful defence. They do not have plausible defence. They also failed to tender documentary evidence to prove that their company documents were legit.

Chimombe and Mpofu will return to court on August 7, 2024, for indictment, as the trial will be heard at the High Court.

Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje alleged that Mpofu and Chimombe forged documents to secure the tender to supply 600,000 goats under the Presidential Goat Scheme.

He said investigations revealed that Blackdeck Pvt Ltd, the company linked to the accused, which they allegedly used to defraud the government, did not have a valid tax clearance.

The reference on the NSSA compliance certificate was issued to a different company, according to the prosecution.

It is alleged that Blackdeck Pvt Ltd was de-registered from the NSSA system in January 2016.

The court heard that acting on the misrepresentation, on 16 November 2021 the Ministry of Lands entered into an agreement with Blackdeck for the supply of 632 001 goats valued at US$87,7 million.

Between April and June 2022, the ministry transferred ZWL1.6 billion, which was equivalent to US$7 712 197, into the company’s bank account.

Consequently, their contract was cancelled on 29 August 2022 after Chimombe and Mpofu only supplied 4 208 goats valued at US$331 445.

They went on to convert US$7 380 751 to their personal use.

Critics argued that Chimombe and Mpofu’s arrest may be in retaliation for exposing alleged underhand deals between Wicknell Chivayo and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), which implicated several high-ranking government officials.

Chivayo is an ex-convict and an associate of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, as well as a ZANU PF donor

Zanu PF Bigwigs In Masvingo Declares War Against Chiwenga

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF bigwigs in Masvingo have declared war against the party’s Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, by blocking his ascension to power after President Mnangagwa’s tenure.

The provincial leadership, known for internal factionalism, has publicly supported Mnangagwa remaining in office until 2030, contrary to the agreement made during the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

In 2017, the Junta, led by Chiwenga, replaced Mugabe with Mnangagwa under the condition that Mnangagwa would rule for two terms and then hand over power to Chiwenga.

Last Saturday, Zanu PF’s Masvingo Province held an inter-district meeting attended by the party’s national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha, and senior politburo members from the province, including Lovemore Matuke, Paul Mangwana, John Paradza, and the party’s provincial chair, Robson Mavhenyengwa.

The Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, also attended.

At the meeting, the party leadership denounced Chiwenga and expressed their support for Mnangagwa to remain in power beyond 2028.

Mnangagwa had previously announced that he would not remain in office beyond the constitutionally stipulated two terms, ending in 2028. However, during the inter-district meeting, Mavhenyengwa stated that Zanu PF Masvingo Province wants Mnangagwa to continue in office until 2030.

“The message was clear from everyone in attendance that the ruling party in Masvingo wants President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028. We know that constitutionally the President is not supposed to continue after 2028, but if there is an opportunity, we will humbly request that he stays until 2030,” Mavhenyengwa said.

He further elaborated that this decision reflects the will of the party members in Masvingo Province, who appreciate Mnangagwa’s infrastructural projects and his vision of making Zimbabwe an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

Brian Munyoro, the party’s provincial secretary for commissariat, corroborated Mavhenyengwa’s statement, expressing unanimous support from Zanu PF Masvingo Province for Mnangagwa to continue leading the nation beyond 2028. “We are happy with the good work that he is doing, and as Zanu PF Masvingo, we want him to continue up to 2030 so that he can complete his vision,” Munyoro said.

Machacha promised to deliver this message to Mnangagwa. “You have made me happy. You were singing here at Masvingo Polytechnic; there is nothing that happens in this country without starting in Masvingo. In 2017, you sang ‘kumagumo kune nyaya’ (there is trouble at the end), and indeed we saw the end you were talking about,” Machacha said to roaring applause from the delegates.

Machacha rhetorically questioned what he would tell the President now that Masvingo wants him to stay in power, despite Mnangagwa’s expressed desire to rest after his two terms. “You are giving me a very difficult task, but I promise you I will execute the task you have given me,” Machacha added to wild applause and cheering from the delegates.

Wicknell Chivayo Business Partners Denied Bail

By Court Correspondent | Harare, Zimbabwe — In a high-stakes courtroom drama, prominent business partners Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, associated with the controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, have been denied bail. Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa delivered the ruling, emphasizing the gravity of their alleged offenses and the risk of flight.

Magistrate Gofa’s decision came after thorough consideration of submissions from both the defense and the prosecution. She underscored the seriousness of the charges faced by Chimombe and Mpofu, indicating that the state, through the Investigating Officer, had presented binding documents against the accused.

“From an analysis of all counsels’ submissions, this court finds that both applicants are facing a serious offense,” Magistrate Gofa stated. She pointed out that the applicants’ responses were insufficient, merely denying the allegations without offering substantial defense.

“For the avoidance of doubt, applicants were not coming from home; they were in the custody of ZACC officers, and the ZACC officials complied with the law,” Gofa explained, reinforcing the legality of the arrest and detention procedures.

The Magistrate expressed concerns that granting bail could jeopardize the judicial process. “The State has managed to proffer compelling reasons for the accused to be denied bail,” she said. “Court hereby secures the needs of justice; the applicants might reoffend, cause people to demonstrate, and they might flee to other countries. There are no bail conditions that alleviate these fears. Bail is hereby denied.”

The ruling has significant implications for Chimombe and Mpofu, who will remain in custody until their next court appearance. They are scheduled to be indicted to the High Court for trial on August 7.

Outside the courthouse, their lawyer, Ashiel Mugiya, addressed the media, indicating that they plan to appeal the decision. “We have instructions to appeal at the High Court,” Mugiya stated, signaling the defense’s resolve to challenge the bail denial.

This case continues to attract considerable attention, given the high profile of the accused and their connection to Wicknell Chivayo, a figure often embroiled in controversy. The upcoming trial promises to be a pivotal event in Zimbabwe’s judicial landscape.

The ZiG Crisis: A Recipe for Disaster

LEAD Press Statement

16 July 2024

As Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD), we are deeply concerned about the chaos and lack of confidence surrounding the newly introduced ZiG currency. The majority of Zimbabweans have not even seen the new currency, let alone used it. In rural areas, the ZiG is as good as a foreign currency, and the scarcity of ZiG coins has led to the South African Rand becoming the preferred currency in other provinces.

The situation is dire, with people in rural areas relying solely on the Rand and US dollars for transactions. The ZiG has failed to penetrate rural areas, making it impossible to convince local businesses, such as traditional beer brewers, to accept a currency they have never seen. The community has lost faith in the local currency, and it’s clear that the government’s attempts to paint a picture of stability are misleading.

The reality is that the local currency is not in circulation, and this has led to a severe shortage of money, exacerbating poverty among Zimbabweans. As LEAD, we urge the government to take immediate action to address this crisis. We recommend the following:

  1. Increase the circulation of the ZiG currency to ensure it reaches rural areas.
  2. Implement policies to boost confidence in the local currency.
  3. Provide education and awareness programs to help Zimbabweans understand the value and use of the ZiG.
  4. Address the scarcity of ZiG coins and ensure their availability in all provinces.

To our fellow Zimbabweans, we offer a message of hope. We understand the struggles you are facing, and we are committed to working towards a solution. Let us stand together and demand better from our leaders. We can build a more stable and prosperous economy, but it requires collective effort and a willingness to listen to the voices of the people.

Let us rise above this crisis and work towards a brighter future for all Zimbabweans.

Gukurahundi Community Engagement : Do You Think Mnangagwa Is Sincere In Whole Process?

Horror As 2 Juveniles Suffocate In House

By A Correspondent

A sad incident occurred in Kuwadzana Extension, Harare, where two juveniles lost their lives due to suspected suffocation.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reported that the victims, Atidaishe Makechemu (10) and Atipaishe Makechemu (8), were found unconscious in a smoke-filled room along with their two siblings, aged 14 and 4, and their mother.

A pot of burnt rice was found on the stove, suggesting a possible cause of the smoke.

The victims were rushed to a local clinic in Kuwadzana, where the two juveniles were pronounced dead on admission. The other three victims were referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital for further treatment and are currently admitted.

The incident is currently under investigation, and more information will be released as it becomes available.”

DeMbare Splash USD 1000 On Sangoma?

Harare giants Dynamos reportedly splashed US$1000 on a traditional healer ahead of last Sunday’s showdown against old foes Highlanders but still lost the clash.

DeMbare, whose financial challenges culminated in players boycotting training for most of last week, saw it fitting to pay a sangoma to ‘cleanse’ the club ahead of the Bosso clash.

Lifestyle tabloid H-Metro reports that the Dynamos leadership prioritized the sangoma at the expense of preparing players for the ‘Battle of Zimbabwe’, which they went on to lose 0-2 courtesy of goals on either side of the half time break from McKinnon Mushore and Godfrey Makaruse.

“Given the issues that were happening with the boys (the players), who were boycotting training, there was a feeling that such a payment was not the right thing to do for the club at the moment,” sources told H-Metro.

“However, the owners of the club said that this was a tradition at Dynamos and it was not going to be changed simply because the players were boycotting training.

“They said these player boycotts have been happening as long as they can remember and they come and go and this cannot be used as an excuse to stop payments to the sangoma.

“It was like they were saying that paying the sangoma was more important, in terms of getting the result which we wanted from the game against Highlanders, than the training itself.

“The message was like as long as we satisfied the sangoma then we did not need to worry about the issues that had happened at training because the club would still be in a position to compete against Highlanders.

LEAKED: Zim Rugby Union Misused $50,000 Meant for Players, Memo Alleges

Harare, Zimbabwe – July 16, 2024

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | In a shocking memorandum addressed to several high-ranking officials, including the Honourable Minister of Sport, Arts, and Recreation, Emily Jesaya, and Excellency First Lady Dr. Auxilia Mnangagwa, serious allegations of financial mismanagement and player neglect within the Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) have come to light. The letter, authored by Mr. Gerald Maguranyanga, a concerned parent and former ZRU board member, outlines a series of disturbing incidents and calls for urgent investigation and reform.

Key Allegations:

  1. Misuse of Funds: Mr. Maguranyanga claims that $50,000, which he personally sourced for the 7s Rugby national players, was never received by the players. This matter, he asserts, was investigated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), but the file was allegedly interfered with.
  2. Unpaid Bills and Player Neglect: The memorandum highlights a disturbing incident in Mauritius where national player TJ Maguranyanga was left stranded with an unpaid hotel bill and expired flight ticket after falling ill. His father had to rush to Mauritius to support him, only to find the ZRU had not settled his son’s expenses, causing severe inconvenience and distress.
  3. Inadequate Player Compensation: National players are reportedly being paid a mere USD 10 per day, an amount Mr. Maguranyanga describes as “peanuts” for their efforts and sacrifices. He emphasizes the need for adequate financial support and insurance for players representing Zimbabwe on the international stage.
  4. Lack of Oversight and Accountability: The ZRU is accused of operating without proper financial oversight, delaying the presentation of audited financials, and conducting elections under questionable circumstances. The memorandum calls for a thorough investigation into the ZRU’s elective AGM held on May 25, 2024.

Recommendations:

Mr. Maguranyanga provides several recommendations to address these issues, including:

  • Direct payment of allowances to players’ bank accounts to prevent misuse.
  • Ensuring national squads travel with comprehensive medical insurance and a local doctor.
  • Establishing a Medical Committee within the ZRU.
  • Instituting a Commission of Enquiry into the state of rugby in Zimbabwe.
  • Enforcing proper management of the 7s squad and ensuring a ZRU board member accompanies the national team to monitor and report on events.

Conclusion:

The memorandum underscores the dire state of rugby administration in Zimbabwe, calling for immediate intervention by the Honourable Minister and other stakeholders to rectify the situation. Mr. Maguranyanga’s detailed account of the mismanagement and neglect faced by national players raises serious concerns about the future of the sport in the country.

The Zimbabwe Rugby Union and the Sports and Recreation Commission are yet to respond to these allegations. The public and rugby community await their statements and hope for swift action to address these critical issues.

Nelson Chamisa Laments LeadershipDeficiency In Country

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has expressed deep concern over the lack of effective leadership in the country.

In a poignant address on Monday, Advocate Chamisa stated:

ENHANCED PUBLIC TRANSPORT…

The presence of bullet trains represents a significant leap in transportation infrastructure.

This photograph showcases a train journey from Osaka to Tokyo in Japan. It is truly disheartening to witness the missed opportunities and squandered advantages that have hindered our progress.

Public transportation should embody a delightful and dignified experience. It must guarantee safety, affordability, efficiency, and simplicity.

Whenever I travel to different nations, I am reminded of the natural beauty of Zimbabwe and the untapped potential we possess.

We possess all the necessary components for success.

We are equipped with everything essential to soar and prosper, barring one crucial element—effective leadership! #NewDawn #ForEveryone

It’s Not Over Yet : Genesis Mangombe

More Jail Time For Jameson Timba, 77 Others

By A Correspondent| The High Court judge has reserved judgment on the bail appeal case of Senator Jameson Timba and the Avondale 78 today. Justice Mutevedzi announced that the judgment will be ready before Thursday, 18 July.

The Avondale 78 activists, including opposition leader Jameson Timba, were arrested on 16 June 2024 after gathering at Timba’s house to commemorate the International Day of the African Child.

They have spent 30 days in pretrial detention, a period perceived by many as a deliberate attempt by the Zimbabwean courts to persecute before prosecution. This has led to widespread calls for their release and solidarity, urging Zimbabweans to join the global demand for their freedom as they appear before the courts.

The activists’ 30-day pretrial detention has raised concerns about the fairness of the legal process and the treatment of individuals involved in activism and opposition movements.
