Detained Councillor Kurauone Pays Bail For Seven “Poor” Prisoners
*Compassionate imprisoned MDC Alliance National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone pays bails for “poor” 7 prisoners*
As Transform Zimbabwe President Jacob Ngarivhume sends message of solidarity to councillor Godfrey Kurauone

*Wezhira Munya and Kimberely Tariro Mamhende*
Jailed MDC Alliance National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone paid a total of $4 500 rtgs for seven prisoners who could not afford to pay their bail.
The seven prisoners were given bail by different Masvingo Magistrates in pass few days. However, due to tough Zimbabwean economic situation, these prisoners failed to pay bail.
Bail is a constitutional right.
The MDC National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone heard the plight of “his prison colleagues” and he was moved with compassionate and paid the bail.
MDC Alliance National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone paid bail of these seven prisoners using his council salary.
Confirming the payment of bail money, Dr Munyaradzi Chidarikire said, “Yes, Councillor Godfrey Kurauone through his lawyer instructed me to pay bail for seven prisoners using his money. This is high degree of unhu/ ubuntu. We have successfully paid the bail money. The seven prisoners will be free and attend court coming from the comfort of their homes.”
Councillor Godfrey Kurauone is a natural giver and prison experience did not break his love for people.
He gave chicken inn, mealie-and blankets to homeless disadvantaged and people with disabilities at Mucheke bus terminus, Masvingo.
Councillor Godfrey Kurauone’s bail applications were denied for a record three times.
Advocate Martin Mureri said, “On 10th September 2020, Masvingo Magistrate Patience Madondo will give judgement on the case were councillor Godfrey Kurauone is accused of “obstracting course of justice.” The offence is allegedly to have been commited on 31 July 2020.”
Some MDC Alliance members will be praying and fasting for councillor Godfrey Kurauone’s acquittal from tomorrow until 10th September 2020.
Councillor Kurauone is denying this offence.
President Nelson Chamisa on the funeral of MDC Alliance National Excutive member Dr Dzamara stated that, “Our National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone is innocent and he is one of the polical prisoners under Mnangagwa administration.”

In addition, Transform Zimbabwe President Mr Jacob Ngarivhume and his wife posted messages of solidarity to councillor Godfrey Kurauone.
Thousands Block Khupe Bid To Sneak Into Parliament Through Backdoor

07 SEPTEMBER 2020
MDC ALLIANCE NAMIBIA APPLAUDS MORE THAN 30 000 SOCIAL DEMOCRATS WHO OBJECTED DAY-LIGHT ELECTORAL ROBBERY BY MDC-THOKOZANI.
Mdc Alliance Namibia is absolutely inspired by the participatory democracy vested in the social democrats who paid heed to the clarion call to petition Zec over the intended electoral fraud.
We are proud to witness more than 30 000 objections submitted to Zec resisting the robbery of our hard-worn 2.6 million votes.
This is an acid test for the Zimbabwe electoral commission to prove beyond any shadow of doubt, that they are a truly and uncompromised independent electoral management body.
The rejection of Khupe and cabal by more than 30 000 social transformers demonstrates that it is a judicially-constructed party bereft of political capital.
Moreso, the astounding volumes of objections delivered to Zec epitomise the futile attempt by politically inept Zanupf and their desperate political toys who recently lost dismally at the hands of His Worship Jacob Mafume, the incumbent Mdc Alliance Mayor of Harare.
This is an apparent futile attempt to suffocate dissenting voices and opinions in a purported democratic society led by the ‘new deception’ under the satanic Zanupf regime.
We want to
encourage our membership and leadership to embrace all democratic and constitutional mechanisms defending our sweet 2018 July victory in the harmonised elections.
Welldone! Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (Mdc-A) commanded by President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.
Finally, as a people’s project , we must exploit all our organs to resist the illegal replacements by Khupe and cabal.
The fake constitutionalists have no right represent the same people who strongly and unequivocally rejected them in 2018. We would not allow Khupe to return to parliament through the Zanupf back door.
Khupe, Mwonzora , Dumbu , Mashakada , Komichi and cronies are simply disillusioned, they are now seeking political refugee through paying allegiance to desperate Zanupf.
We are delighted that the objections submitted before Zec will decimate its festival of political illegalities and electoral absurdities.

MDC ALLIANCE NAMIBIA DEEPLY MOURNS THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF A SOCIAL DEMOCRAT PAR EXCELLENCE, HON MIRIAM MUSHAYI
08 SEPTEMBER 2020
Mdc Alliance Namibia sadly received unsettling and depressing news of another substantial blow to the struggle for socio-economic transformation.
We want to console the bereaved Mushayi family as well as the political heavyweight, Mdc Alliance led by President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.
Our diligent and dedicated standing committee leader as well as MP for Kuwadzana Hon Miriam Mushayi who died yesterday, Monday 07 September 2020 will be peacefully laid to rest in Magunje-Hurungwe on Thursday.
We encourage our membership and leadership including all social democrats to give our heroine an astounding send-off in honour of the courage and varlour she had had to confront Zanupf and their surrogates.
As Mdc Alliance, we have been robbed of an ardent and gallant daughter of the national democratic revolution.
May the dear soul of our fearless, dedicated and committed cadre rest in power.
She was a loyal fighter who did not waver in her fight for political, social and economic regeneration of our country.
We demand smart health services in Zimbabwe to avert the untimely and avoidable deaths the country has faced for the past two decades.
Our cadres and relatives are dying because of this unsound health status of the country.
Lets go in our numbers in honour of our Heroine Hon Miriam Mushayi. Go well our leader! Go well our leader! Go well our mother!
We shall continue confronting Zanupf morons so that Zimbabwe becomes liberated. Mdc Alliance is ready to fulfill your revolutionary dreams and aspirations. I salute you ? Hon Miriam Mushayi, may your soul rest in peace.

“VP Chiwenga Is The Joshua Nkomo Of Mashonaland”
Like Joshua Nkomo, Chiwenga is too generous with political power. Imagine a man who spent grueling weeks at the Blue Roof and State House in 2017 wrestling for political power from the late President Mugabe, only to hand it over to President, Emmerson Mnangagwa on a silver platter with the hope that the power hungry monster will voluntarily return it to him after 5 years.
This is as good as throwing a nicely cut piece of meat to a hungry dog with the hope that it will return it. Unfortunately such benevolent people like Chiwenga cannot rule because there is no charity when it comes to power, worse more in Zimbabwe.
It took one politically immature Zezuru to transfer political power from his own Zezuru brothers to the Karangas. Power hungry Mnangagwa and his Karanga tribesmen could not belief their luck in 2017 when Chiwenga presented to them the most treasured gift.
Soccer coaches would describe such a move as a fatal own goal. The mistake has cost the Zezeru political reigns that they managed to hold on to for 37 years through their dearest son, Mugabe. No wonder many Zezurus consider Chiwenga a sellout who must correct his political plunder before he dies. Given their tiny population of 7%, it might take many years for Zezuru to take power again.
Chiwenga should have learnt something from Ndabaningi Sithole who said in his Ndebele novel, “umbuso awugavelwana njenge gwayi” (power cannot be given for free like a cigarette). Once power is in your hands you do not donate it to someone.
Mnangagwa, not a new player in the corridors of power. He has been in the swing of things as Mugabe’s protégée and right hand man long enough (40 years) to see that politics and tribe in Zimbabwe are intertwined. And that Zezurus and Korekores were pillars that supported Mugabe’s power base in both public and private sector and that the same pillars would support Chiwenga.
Mnangagwa knew very well that if he were to last a day on the throne, he had to destroy Mugabe’s political base (Zezuru- Korekore Alliance) and replace it with his own (Karanga).
His first priority was to catch the Zezuru top dog, Chiwenga, strip him off his military regalia and dangerous military power and cage him in the presidency. Here, Chiwenga becomes an unelected political weakling serving at the mercy of the appointing authority as Vice President of the country. Any mistake here, Chiwenga can be fired by Mnangagwa in the same fashion that Mnangagwa himself was booted by Mugabe in 2017.
With Chiwenga under his full control like a yoyo, Mnangagwa launched a purging exercise to remove all known and unknown Zezurus from top positions in the Zimbabwe National Army, Air Force, Central Intelligence Organisation, Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services and Judiciary. Most were retired and some Posted on diplomatic missions too far away from home.
At a time when Mnangagwa had uprooted all Zezuru top leaders in the security sector and elsewhere and replaced them with his own Karanga, with Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Commissioner – General, Paradzai Zimondi being the last Zezuru to fall, Chiwenga’s supporters started to make some political moves.
How political naive can that be? Organising a march and telling the public that you have the support of VP Chiwenga and the military at a time when the very Chiwenga is at his weakest point, striped of military and political power.
The political dwarfs who attempted to organise a march were rounded up swiftly, beaten tortured and arrested by the same military and police they claimed were in support of their march, hence the much hipped July 31 march was a total failure.
This exposed Chiwenga and his supporters as a none entity, and Chiwenga as someone who has completely lost support of the military and unable to stage a military coup d’etat similar to that of 2017.
He could not help it but keep silent as his supporters were arrested and prosecuted. Maybe he is saving his own life after surviving two assassination attempts through poisoning. Former ZANLA Commanders like Josiah Tongogara and Solomon Mujuru were assassinated for their political beliefs and Chiwenga could be next.
Zimbabwe has reached a breaking point. The shortsighted tribal and divisionist policies produced by Shona supremacist intellectuals are backfiring very badly resulting in the disintegration of Zimbabwe.
Matabele people who suffered a genocide and continue to face tribal marginalisation in all spheres of life in Zimbabwe are calling for a breakaway from Zimbabwe to restore the statehood of Matabeleland.
The war amongst Shona tribal groupings is all about which Shona tribe must control government and get the opportunity to loot.
The “unconquerable” Zezuru have been defeated and relegated to second class by the Karanga who have asserted themselves as ruling the class. No question about it the Zezurus are angry with Mnangagwa for humiliating them, dropping them like dead wood from top positions. They will leave no stone unturned to make a come back. The fight back is on and Mnangagwa is already feeling the heat.
The Manyika- Ndau languish at the bottom of the Shona social class. They are the most despised of Shona tribes viewed as not Shona enough to rule Zimbabwe. The likes of Christopher Mutsvanga, very active and garrulous but used by Karangas as tongs to hold hot pieces.
Cde Paul Siwela’s prophecy has come to pass. He said that after Mugabe is gone, Zimbabwe will be the next Somalia in terms of political chaos and tribal violence. And that Zimbabwe will revert back to its original state when there was no central figure to lead Shona people. Each Shona group was led by its own tribal chief.
On going tribal battles within Zanupf and the main opposition MDC show that Shona tribes have turned against each other. Karangas do not want to be lead by Zezurus. Manyika and Ndaus have just discovered that they are being used as political pawns by both Zezuru and Karanga and the Zezuru refuse to be lead by Karangas. The center cannot hold anymore.
Matabeles must use this God given opportunity very wisely to breakaway from chaotic Zimbabwe. We call upon all Matabeles to put on their thinking cap, unite and fight for their independence instead of following Zimbabwe to the grave.

Mwonzora Mourns The Late Miriam Mushayi
By A Correspondent| Embattled opposition MDC-T Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora has mourned the late Kuwadzana legislator Miriam Mushayi saying she was a key member in the struggle for electoral reforms.
Posting on Twitter, Mwonzora said through Mushayi’s efforts, the 2018 elections had the much needed biometric voter registration and a code of conduct for political parties.
“Sad to learn of the death of Hon. Miriam Mushayi. She was a key member in the struggle for electoral reforms that brought the BVR &the code of conduct for political parties. Self effacing yet charming, intelligent and tolerant she was just an enigma,” said Mwonzora.
Mushayi passed on last night though the cause of death has not been officially communicated.
Witnesses Confirm Chivhu Killers Were Likely State Security Agents As ZimEye Reported
A report in a daily has confirmed an on the ground investigation by ZimEye at the original shooting incident in Chivhu on Saturday that the soldier killers were likely state agents.
The report brings to light circumstances surrounding the weekend shooting incident that claimed the life of a soldier in Chivhu, about 140km south of Harare along the Harare-Masvingo Highway.
Newsday reports quoting new witnesses saying the same that ZimEye correspondents found on the day
On Saturday, two men managed to disarm two soldiers at a small makeshift police base in central Chivhu, opening fire and killing Lance Corporal Lorance Mupanganyama and injuring Corporal Peter Zvirevo.
The two men, according to the police, were later gunned down in a shoot-out with the police and the Zimbabwe National Army officers at Waterbury Farm, in Gutu, where they were reportedly hiding after walking for about 15km from Chivhu town along the Chivhu-Gutu Highway.
In a statement, police claimed the two suspects in the Saturday shooting incident had attempted to rob a fast-food outlet in the town. But people who witnessed the incident said there were more questions than answers in the whole drama, which has left the Chivhu community in fear.
One witness said the two approached the police base where the now-deceased Mupanganyama and injured Zvirevo were resting in the company of four female police officers.
One of them signalled to Mupanganyama to come out, which he did and they had a conversation which ended prematurely.
“We heard the now-deceased saying ‘You are not my boss, I will not take instructions from you’ before going back into the police base,” the witness said.
“The two suspects followed, shouting that ‘today, you will know that I am your boss’. This is when the whole drama started. There was an exchange of gunfire and within a short period, the two came out of the police base.
“He shouted, ‘hondo yatanga (the war has just begun’, brandishing his gun in the air after shooting.”The witness said she was concerned that the reason the soldier was killed may never be revealed since the gunmen were dead.
Another source said: “The statement by the deceased soldier that he did not report to the gunman suggests the two men, who are now dead, could be members of the army. The two were only interested in the soldiers. They attacked the soldiers and left the four female police officers who were in the base.
“The base is too small, that some people hid is not true. If they wanted to kill the police officers, they could have killed all of them.
“Furthermore, their faces were not covered and if they were real criminals, they could have killed everyone there, including the female police officers for fear of being able to be physically identified. But the gunmen never even attempted to fire at any one of the people who were at the place, but instead, ordered them to disperse.”
A senior police detective based in Chivhu, who also spoke to NewsDay on condition of anonymity, supported the witness’ narrative.
“It is highly likely that the reason the soldiers were killed has nothing to do with their patrol duties of that day considering that the four female police officers in the base, as small as it is, escaped unharmed,” he said.
“The gunmen fired at least 12 times, so if they were randomly discharging the firearm, the police officers could also have been shot and injured or even killed, but they were not, which means their shots were targeted at the victims,” he added.
Another witness said Mupanganyama and the assailant who signalled him to come out of the police base did not have a prolonged altercation before the gunfire.
“I saw a soldier speaking with a man outside the police base shortly before I heard gunshots,” the witness, who only identified himself as Richard, said.
“I could not tell whether it was an argument or not because their conversation could hardly be heard by people nearby.
“But from the way they were speaking, one could assume that the two had a previous relationship before that encounter.”
After killing the gunmen on Sunday afternoon, the security officers paraded the bodies of the deceased gunmen on the streets of Chivhu before taking them to Chivhu General Hospital.
Curiously, two leaked police memos have different serial numbers of the guns seized during the shooting incident.
One of the memos recorded assault rifles with serial numbers ZA52410 and ZA49103 as having gone missing after the police base shooting, while another has serial numbers ZA48889 and ZA54490 as that of assault rifles recovered.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations were still ongoing.
“We have teams on the ground, investigations are still ongoing,” he said, adding that he was not aware of the memos with difference serial numbers. Newsday

“Can’t Risk EU Taxpayers’ Money Funding Corruption” – Chickens Home To Roost, At Worst Times
By Wilbert Mukori- The European Union (EU) will not reinstate direct budgetary support to Zimbabwe because of the country’s opaque public financial management systems.
This was revealed by EU in Zimbabwe Ambassador Timo Olkkonen, in an interview with TimesLIVE.
“We can’t risk abuse of EU taxpayers’ money,” he said
The people of Zimbabwe have known of Zimbabwe’s curse of bad governance for the last 40 years and counting and they have done absolutely nothing of consequence to end this curse. And so for the last 4 decades the country has sunk deeper and deeper into economic ruins as gross mismanagement and rampant corruption spread like cancer. The chicken have finally come home to roost and in their millions like red billed quelea!
The corona virus pandemic is the greatest health and economic challenge of this generation, no nation has been spared. Zimbabwe has been hit particularly hard given the country’s economy was in a serious mess and its health care service had all but completely collapsed before the pandemic.
Having a corrupt and incompetent government is a curse during normal times but a double curse at times like this when hundreds of thousands of lives are at risk because of the virus and so too are the livelihoods of millions for decade or more to come.
The EU’s decision to stop throwing good money into the blackhole because of the gross mismanagement and rampant corruption is understandable, especially in these corona virus times when everyone is counting the pennies. The decision will only drag Zimbabwe even deeper into economic meltdown, poverty and corona virus health crisis.
The need for the people of Zimbabwe to finally bite the bullet and deal with the curse of rigged elections and bad governance is now the only issue on the national agenda, it is impossible to ignore.
The price of continuing to bury our collective head in the sand and hope the corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF dictatorship will transform itself into a competent and democratic regime has gone up. Before now it was lost treasure and human suffering; now it all that plus lost human lives!
ANC Delegation Dates Zanu Pf
By A Correspondent- A delegation from South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) led by the party’s secretary-general Ace Magashule is expected in the country this Tuesday for meetings with the ruling ZANU PF party.
Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu on Monday said the two parties will focus on issues to do with economic and political cooperation, rather than the claims of a crisis in Zimbabwe.
He said:
I can confirm that all is set for the Zanu PF-ANC talks. We have been briefed that our revolutionary counterpart the ANC is sending its top brass ahead of the indaba scheduled for this Wednesday.
Considering that this whole crisis narrative constitutes a peripheral concern, we are certain that obvious rationality will shift our discussion focus to other more important issues.
… However, in this instance, we have no problem to tackle at length considering that the crisis alarm is not founded on what is prevailing on the ground.
South African Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mphakama Mbete also confirmed the arrival of the ANC delegation. He said:
I can confirm that the ANC nine-member delegation will arrive in Zimbabwe today, but I don’t have the exact time.
Last week President Emmerson Mnangagwa dismissed claims that there is a crisis in Zimbabwe.
Speaking during a meeting of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), a grouping of over a dozen small political party leaders he defeated in 2018, he said:
In the wake of the arrest of some elements whose actions sought not only to incite the public to gather against the set rules (of Covid-19)… subversive allegations of a crisis have been made mainly in the social media circles.
I wish to unequivocally state that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe as elections were held in July 2018 and a winner was declared in terms of the country’s constitution.-statemedia
Mwonzora, Khupe Rejected Again
A trail of Rejection as the MDC Alliance shall Laugh last.
Douglas Mwonzora and Khupe can only win in cases arbitrated by third parties. And they need biased arbitrators for success.
They have been celebrating the Pyrrhic victories which we’re midwifed by the captured courts of Zimbabwe. These are courts which may not proudly associate with the verdicts they give. They are like anybody else, victims of both direct intimidation and salient influence by the autocratic regime of ED.
But the past week has seen the arrival of a new battle field, the court of the public, the unbuyable battle field of the people, the unintimidatable court of the people. Mwonzora and Khupe are going to face loss, the frontiers of their gains will shrink as people power , shows what a juggernaut it is, pushing aside anything on its way and casting pretenders Douglas and Khupe and depositing them on the convex side of the meandering river of the National Democratic Struggle. They are finished, they are spent and will resurface in the annals of history as our modern day “Moise Tshombes” the very Esaus of today whose appetite for nice things caused them to sacrifice their birthright
The first blood was drawn at Harare. The team of Harare councilors showed unparalleled consciousness, bravery and mission focus. They won’t be bullied by sellouts to inhibit the progress of the National Democratic Revolution. They know the project has to be prosecuted to a destination , a new Zimbabwe of Transformation, Opportunity and Prosperity. We salute the cadres at Harare town house. In the face of Zanu Pf style , of winning by intimidation and offering freebies, Jacob Mafume pounded Luxkson Mukunguma to smithereens to Land the first citizen post in Harare.
Angered , the Khupe Mwonzora cabal went on a national campaign to threaten councilors and Mayors with recalls if they do not join the bandwagon of sellouts. They are not winning. They faked pictures of the Mayor of Gwanda and lied that he has joined them. He can’t, he has such a thick political skin that nothing will push him off the MDC Alliance the only hope for Zimbabweans.
In Matebeleland North, the Democratic Councilors of Victoria falls and Hwange are resolute. They told the cabal teams that as MDC Alliance councilors, they stand with President Nelson Chamisa .
In the Midlands, the cabal used a different tactic, claiming that the Mayor of KweKwe and four councilors had jumped ship to join the Supreme Court Constructed party of Khupe. The Mayor and Councilors averred the impossibility of such ever happening. They are too sane to associate with a cabal that believes in harvesting miracle mayors and councilors and not getting them through electoral processes. KweKwe is true to the vision and mission of the National Democratic Struggle and are loyal to the MDC Alliance and it’s leader, President Nelson Chamisa
The revolutionary spirit pervades Chinhoyi. The mighty Chirorodziva caves thunder a disapproving sound for any who may be tempted to look back and betray. This is the city of the heroes who chose death to selling out in 1966. The threat of recalls is met there with palpable defiance. The Mayor and his team are ready for the morning after the recall, the reinstatement of the team by the people when the by elections are eventually called. After all these forces will be redeployed to beat Zanu in all its shades again and again.
The City of Kings and Queens, is a target for Bull-in-a -china- shop tactic. As in Harare, the cabal is prepared to collapse the councils and handover to Zanu Pf Commissions. They are shameless, Thank God, the law only allows commissions a 3 month longevity. In January or there about, Harare and Bulawayo councils will be reconstructed in the true likeness of the MDC Alliance
But Khupe and Mwonzora will be judged very harshly today and by posterity and by the citizens for causing the squandering of resources in by elections they can never dream to win. They will not be forgiven by the citizens for costing the citizens their legitimate representatives.
But the people will laugh last. They shall laugh loudest in the fullness of time.

Former Minister Pours Cold Water On ANC Meeting With Zanu PF
By Jane Mlambo| Former Deputy minister of Higher Education, Dr Godfrey Gandawa has poured cold water on the meeting between sister revolutionary parties ANC and Zanu PF on the deteriorating political situation in Zimbabwe saying the varied understanding of crisis will mean the conversation starts at cross purposes.
In a Twitter thread, Gandawa said the Zimbabwean crisis is being understood from very different angles with the MDC Alliance taking it from a bilateral perspective based on the 2018 elections while former G40 members believes it emanated from the November 2017 military coup.
“At the risk of being the bearer of bad news, the ANC delegation that arrives in Harare today will not achieve any meaningful outcome. This is because what is widely described as a crisis, means different things to the stakeholders. The conversation starts at cross purposes.
“The MDC believes that the crisis is a bilateral dispute between itself and Zanu PF, which can only be resolved by Zanu PF surrendering power to the legitimate winner of the 2018 election. Over the past two years, this has found expression as the ‘crisis of legitimacy’.
“Meanwhile, the so-called G40 believes that the crisis arises from the 2017 coup which ushered in the Mnangagwa regime. The 2017 coup is viewed as the genesis of military interference and state capture. To fix Zimbabwe, the coup must be cured,” said Gandawa.
According to Gandawa, all these narratives do not fit into the ANC’s understanding of the Zimbabwean crisis as they recognise President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the legitimate leader of the country.
He said the ANC is not worried about MDC Alliance or G40 grievances as they are more concerned about helping their counterparts stabilize the situation.
“Unfortunately, the South African government does not accept any of these arguments. It recognises Mnangagwa as the legitimate president elected in 2018 and affirmed by the Constitutional Court decision rejecting the challenge to his victory. That matter is settled.
“As far as the ANC and Ramaphosa’s envoys are concerned, they are not in Harare to negotiate a transfer of power or to relitigate the coup or the 2018 election. As they have repeatedly said, they want to help Zanu PF stabilize the situation so that it can survive this crisis,” added Gandawa.

CHIVHU GUN ATTACKS: ZRP Says Conflicting Serial Numbers Are “Leaked Information” Don’t Rely On Them
By A Correspondent | Briefly responding to the issue of conflicting serial numbers from guns recovered from the two killed suspected soldier-killers in Chivhu at the weekend, the ZRP spokesperson, Paul Nyathi last night told ZimEye the public should not rely on leaked information, they should wait for official announcements by the force.
He said: “Aaah investigations are in progress, and [on] those serial numbers, people are giving reference to leaked information, eeh, the police will release official information as what we have been doing all along, that is what I can say at the moment.
“eeh so I can’t talk about something which has been leaked on the social media platforms, with all due respect…”
It was further stressed to him: I had to ask because they are different serial numbers and they are official ZRP memos.
To this he replied saying: “If you could phone me tomorrow,” the Police Spokesperson said responding to the questions below:

He said: “Aaah investigations are in progress, and [on] those serial numbers, people are giving reference to leaked information, eeh, the police will release official information as what we have been doing all along, that is what I can say at the moment.
“eeh so I can’t talk about something which has been leaked on the social media platforms, with all due respect…”
It was further stressed to him: I had to ask because they are different serial numbers and they are official ZRP memos.
To this he replied saying: “If you could phone me tomorrow,” the Police Spokesperson said responding to the questions below:

ANC Delegation Jets In Today
The African National Congress (ANC) delegation led by secretary-general Cde Ace Magashule is expected in the country today for bilateral engagements with their Zanu PF counterparts.
This comes as the two parties are strengthening cooperation in the wake of a renewed onslaught against former liberation movements by Western powers, who are working with opposition parties in the region, some churches and a select media to manufacture a non-existent crisis in Zimbabwe.
Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Dr Obert Mpofu yesterday said the two parties will exchange notes on economic and political cooperation.
“I can confirm that all is set for the Zanu PF-ANC talks. We have been briefed that our revolutionary counterpart the ANC is sending its top brass ahead of the indaba scheduled for this Wednesday.
“Considering that this whole crisis narrative constitutes a peripheral concern, we are certain that obvious rationality will shift our discussion focus to other more important issues,” he said.
The more pressing details that the two parties are likely to spend time deliberating on are centred on the political threats posed by the two countries’ detractors as well as economic cooperation.
“As political parties unified by the permanent effects of colonial infiltration, in our respective national interests, we ought to emerge from this dialogue more ideologically clear to create firm buffers against existential shocks exerted on us by forces working in the interest of fragmenting African liberation movements.
“An obviously foreseen resolution will be our heightened inter-party solidarities aimed at building a strong foundation for African solutions for African problems in the region.
“However, in this instance we have no problem to tackle at length considering that the crisis alarm is not founded on what is prevailing on the ground,” he said.
The dialogue, Cde Mpofu said, comes at an opportune time considering the favourable policy environment recently enabled by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) pact.
“As ZANU PF, this dialogue is beyond politics, this dialogue is set to strengthen our bilateral ties in making the SADC an optimal hub for extensive investment opportunities. We have more to fight for on the economic solidarity front than anything else. So our agenda will be predicated on real issues and nothing else,” he said.
Dr Mpofu added: “In essence this is an opportunity for our liberation sisterhood as ZANU PF and the ANC to be concretised in the service of a plethora of genuine concerns affecting both ZANU PF and the ANC.”
South African Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mphakama Mbete also confirmed the arrival of the ANC delegation.
“I can confirm that the ANC nine-member delegation will arrive in Zimbabwe today, but I don’t have the exact time,” he said.
War veterans’ chairman Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa weighed in saying their association is behind the dialogue between the two sister revolutionary parties.
“The two revolutionary parties were born out of the protracted liberation struggle. We shared the same trenches during the liberation struggle.
“We share the same blood, so the opposition and some other rogue elements should not draw boundaries between the two sister parties,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

VP Chiwenga Finds Out He’s “Joshua Nkomo” of Mashonaland…..

War Veterans Demand To Be Issued With Degrees.
Former liberation war fighters have demanded that government awards them honorary university degrees for fighting in the war for independence.
Addressing Mashonaland East war veterans and Zanu PF supporters in Marondera over the weekend, Zimbabwe War Veterans Association spokesperson Douglas Mahiya said as liberation fighters, they were happy to be given an opportunity by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to influence education on Zimbabwe’s liberation to the younger generation.
“We succeed in educating people about the revolution and that land belongs to them and we succeeded and we got independence,” Mahiya said.
“We were told if you face resistance from the Smith regime soldiers, here is the gun, fight them and we succeeded. The third one was to utilise land, we succeeded, and this is where we are today.
“My thinking now is the government must award us degrees because we went to war and learnt principles of the revolution and we made it.”
Mahiya added; “War veterans do not associate themselves with failure politically, we associate ourselves with success and progress.”
“So, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube must come up with a policy that says if a company capacitates a farm of a war veteran with farming equipment and inputs, it will be exempted from paying tax,” the war veterans’ spokesperson said.
“If a company pays for war veterans’ medical bills, it will have a tax rebate. We don’t lose anything as a nation but we would have complied with our Constitution which says we will honour and respect our war veterans.
“Respect can only be a benefit when such things are happening, just like someone buying me (Mahiya) a car and your company gets a rebate.”
Gomba Appeals Against His Recall
State Media
SUSPENDED Harare Mayor Herbert Gomba and six councillors have petitioned the High Court to nullify their recall by MDC-T led by Dr Thokozani Khupe, claiming she has no authority to do so in terms of the supreme law of the country.
Dr Khupe recalled Gomba and councillors Lovemore Makuwerere, Hammy Madzingira, Costa Mande, Kudzai Kadzombe, Happymore Gotora and Gilbert Hadebe, accusing them of being “errant” officials after they failed to respect the party’s leadership.
MDC-T’s grounds for recall were that the MDC-Alliance list, on which the six were elected, was a composite of the allocated nominations of the eight parties that went into the electoral alliance with the deal being that the constituent parties would retain their identity and control.
In an urgent chamber application filed at the High Court, Gomba and the six councillors cited MDC-T, Local Government and Public Works Minister, City of Harare and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) as respondents.
They want the court to declare their recall null and void, claiming that MDC-T had no power to recall “a mayor, chairperson and councillors of any local authority”.
In addition, they want the court to bar both the Ministry and Harare City from obstructing them from conducting their constitutional mandate unless the ministry complies with certain provisions of the Constitution.
Gomba and the six councillors are arguing that they are constitutionally elected councillors for their respective wards, while he was elected as mayor in terms of the Urban Councils Act and the move by MDC-T to recall them from office was premised on an assertion that they had ceased to be its members.
The seven are accusing the Minister of Local Government and Public Works of endorsing their recall when he instructed the local authority to proceed without complying with the provisions of the Constitution.
This, they argue, will prompt ZEC to call for a nomination day to fill the vacancies in 35 days’ time.
recall on urgent basis for the reasons that first respondent has no authority to cause such a recall in terms of the Constitution of Zimbabwe,” said lawyer Ms Shamiso Mangwende who certified that the matter should be treated with urgency.
“If first respondent (MDC-T) has such power, which is denied, the second respondent (Minister) has not established a tribunal as is required by . . . the Constitution. The third respondent (City of Harare) has an obligation to call for a nomination date in 35 days of such recall starting August 26, 2020.”
In this regard, Ms Mangwende said there was no time for the dispute to be resolved as an ordinary court application as the aggrieved mayor and councillors are prejudiced permanently by virtue of being barred from performing their constitutionally mandated functions premised on blatant violations of the Constitution.
Since the Supreme Court ruled in a civil suit brought by others in the MDC-T that Mr Nelson Chamisa grabbed power outside the MDC-T’s own internal rules, the 2014 leadership that resumed temporary control has been having senators, MPs and councillors recalled.
The MDC-A has argued that it was a party at the time of the 2018 elections, but the High Court ruled that it was just an electoral alliance and that the underlying parties remain in control of the public office holders.
Apart from the leadership wrangles, the opposition has seen arrests for corruption by office holders in the Harare City Council.
Gomba is on $10 000 bail after he was arrested on abuse of office charges.
A faction of councillors aligning themselves to the leadership of Dr Khupe is now pushing for the ouster of those opposed to her ascendancy as the interim MDC-T leader following the Supreme Court ruling.
Tampering With Security Forces “Is An Act Of War” – ZANU PF Youth League Joins Mnangagwa And Muchinguri In Empowering Soldiers To Shoot To Kill.
ZANU PF YOUTH LEAGUE STATEMENT OF APPRECIATION TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY SERVICES ROLE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19
The ZANU PF Youth League applauds the great commitment, immense sense of duty and selfless patriotism being exhibited by the nation’s security services in the ongoing fight to contain and eradicate the Covid-19 menace within our borders.
Indeed, the critical role of our vigilant security services in enforcing lockdown regulations, in manning roadblocks, protecting border areas and in other critical deployments deserves commendation and ranks them among the elite cadres in the frontlines.
Sponsored: Click here to buy NetOne, Telecel Airtime online using EcoCash
Their contribution in combination with other healthcare frontline entities has seen the nation experience a dramatic reduction in Covid-19 cases, which is no mean feat.
The story of how a nation called Zimbabwe; besieged by illegal and evil sanctions; has fought Covid-19 can never be recounted without mentioning our security services.
It is, however, greatly disconcerting that some criminal and lunatic elements in our society would conceive of killing in cold blood, soldiers deployed for this important duty.
All progressive and patriotic elements of our society must see this attack against our security forces as not only an attack against Zimbabwe but also as an effort to throw off course the current efforts to combat Covid19.
The ZANU PF Youth League also wishes to express its profound appreciation for the decisive swiftness with which our security services responded to the murderous gang in a combined operation, in a chain of events leading to the unfortunate shootout, culminating in the deaths of one brave soldier and two bandits.
It is sad that lives have to be lost in order for order to be maintained, unfortunate that the security forces have to be one member poorer because of unscrupulous elements in our society.
This profanity of our nationhood should never be allowed to recur, and the incident should serve as sufficient warning to any would-be malefactors.
We hereby reiterate without equivocation, our position that any of the aggression against our dedicated Covid-19 frontline cadres is an act of war, and that any manipulation of this situation for personal, sectarian and political gain at the expense of national safety is treasonous.
This sums up our opinion of equally deranged fly-by-night political lawyers who continue to “impress” their foreign handlers with vapid talk of “civilian space”, in defence of trigger-happy criminals.
Needless to say that such retrogressive and self-hating sentiments manifest in words that demonise our security forces for defending the nation are not shocking coming from the usual unpatriotic voices.
Bandits have no portion in civilian space, and defending them is an act of terror against the lawful citizens of Zimbabwe.
For us, any needless loss of life, particularly youthful lives such as in the above instance, remains sacrilegious to our
Ubuntu ethos.
We, therefore, extend our heartiest condolences to the bereaved families of the members of the security and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
As we continue to accord due credit and encouragement to cadres who continue to stand tall in the fight against Covid-19 and against the wanton lawlessness that is being engineered around it, the ZANU PF Youth League urges its membership and all Zimbabweans, in general, to maintain maximum discipline in complying with all COVID-19 management regulations.

Chiwenga Restructures The Health Sector
State Media
The Health and Child Care Ministry is being restructured with a new sustainable funding model, far greater effectiveness, and a new work ethic for staff under plans outlined yesterday by the Minister, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
In streamlining and expanding the operations of the ministry, but without adding to numbers with the upgrade coming from better use of staff, the remuneration of health workers has been put at the core of this shake-up.
The reorganisation also seeks to transform the work ethic of health professionals, which will be aligned to the oath of their profession.
VP Chiwenga said he was given a clear brief when he assumed the health portfolio.
“Zimbabwe’s vision is to have a national healthcare system that reflects international best practices by 2030. The desire is to have a national health system that ensures that all members of the corporation have equitable access to healthcare services of sufficient quality, thereby leaving no one behind,” he started.
“His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, ordered the restructuring of the Ministry of Health and Child Care, for it to reflect international best practices. Today it is with great pleasure that I announce that the first phase of the restructuring that I was tasked to undertake by the President is now complete.
“The main objective of the restructuring was to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, as well as integration of the Ministry of Health and Child Care with national institutions by removing insulating tendencies, limited or no coordination with national institutions. The specific objectives were to develop a new structure of the Ministry of Health and Child Care meant to achieve the above and to develop a funding model for the new structure as well as address conditions of service of health professionals,” said VP Chiwenga.
The restructuring of the health portfolio is following three stages. The first stage was to add a new top layer to the national health delivery system; the second stage was to develop an organised strategic department; and the third and final stage was to develop and adopt a sustainable funding model for the national healthcare system and develop conditions of services for the health staff to drive the new Ministry of Health and Child Care structure.
The Zimbabwe national health care system traditionally had four levels: primary health centres, district and mission hospitals, provincial hospitals; and central or teaching hospitals.
“We have now added the fifth level or the quaternary hospital which is a high level research and development hospital.”
“The five levels are designed to result in an efficient and effective national healthcare system that produces and depends on high-level science in executing the health services.
“The newly structured Ministry of Health will now be composed of nine divisions that are headed by chief directors including the eight specialised departments. However, it must be noted that the total establishment of the Ministry of Health and Child Care has not been changed,” said VP Chiwenga.
The nine divisions will cover: research biomedical engineering, biomedical science, biopharmaceutical engineering and production, general health services inspectorate, logistics and assets management, personnel and external relations, human resource management, health professional council and regulations, finance and corporate services, public health policies corporate and strategy, curative services.
A new funding model was critical.
“In order to fund the Ministry of Health and Child Care structure, it is important to understand the current situation. Currently Zimbabwe has a medical import bill that is high. It is thus imperative that Zimbabwe develop a method of containing the import bill through healthcare-related innovations or import substitutions.
“This entails reverting the import bill burden to export receipt. This will improve the funding. This system is the one Zimbabwe adopted in the fight against Covid-19 with much success,” said VP Chiwenga.
VP Chiwenga said the change represents a complete change of philosophy which will end the incessant problems that have dogged the national healthcare system for years.
He said “it is our conviction that most of the problems if not all were a product of wrong configuration”.
The new structure will offer things such as medical tourism as well as produce savings by plugging leaks.
The welfare of healthcare workers is at the core of the changes. “Housing and vehicle loans will also form part of the improved conditions of service. We have now reviewed salaries and allowances for healthcare professionals as a way of Government commitment to make the national healthcare system competitive.
“An overall increase for the health sector specific allowance will be effected by the Government.
“As we move forward and face the future with courage the expectations of the Government of Zimbabwe is that the work ethics and work culture within the ministry of Health and Child Care undergo stiff transformation. We expect all grievances to be resolved amicably through discussion without endangering patients’ lives,” said VP Chiwenga.
Speaking at the same media briefing, Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube said there would be backing for the financial implications of the restructuring.
“As Government, we are working with pharmaceutical companies to try and raise funding for their recapitalisation. We intend to approach development banks resident outside Zimbabwe to raise this funding.
“Our intention will be to improve the conditions of service for the health sector, as well as the entire civil service focusing on the core salary as well as specific allowances. As we do this we need to ensure that we stay within our budgetary parameters,” said Minister Ncube.
Covid-19 Restrictions Relaxed
State Media
Returning residents tested within 48 hours before their return have since last Friday been allowed to self-quarantine at home if that test was negative rather than stay in a quarantine centre while those without certificates were being allowed home if they tested negative at the quarantine centre.
And as schools prepare to reopen for examination classes, steps are being taken to ensure Zupco has enough buses to ferry teachers and pupils, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said last night after the weekly meeting of the national inter-ministerial taskforce.
“The taskforce was informed that as of September 4, 2020, all returnees with 48-hours negative Covid-19 certificates are being released at ports of entry for self-quarantine as per Cabinet’s directive.
“Returnees without certificates will proceed to a quarantine facility, where they will be tested and either discharged for self-quarantine or isolation, based on their status,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
The taskforce received an update on preparations for the reopening of schools for Cambridge and Zimsec examinations, with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in the process of procuring protective and preventative materials.
Modalities are being put in place so that Zupco gets an adequate fleet to ferry learners and teachers.
Zimbabwe has moved from scattered infections, mainly imported, to clusters of infection and local infection within communities, placing more responsibility on all Zimbabweans to take precautions to prevent infection,
Minister Mutsvangwa said in response to the Cabinet meeting of August 18 2020, which took note of the change in transmission scenarios and directed the setting up of a mechanism that would strengthen management and response to the rising local transmissions, the taskforce received nominations for 13 candidates who will make up an Experts Advisory Committee.”
Minister Mutsvangwa said a local company has diversified and is now manufacturing 40 000 surgical face masks a day which have been certified by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe.
Marry Chiwenga Unwell, Lawyer Tells Court
Embattled former wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Marry Mubaiwa is reportedly unwell and undergoing a life saving treatment, her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa has told the court.
Mtetwa told the court that Mubaiwa was walking around with a catheter to drain stuff from her hand while receiving her treatment.
“The accused has not fully done her treatment and she is walking around with a catheter draining stuff from her hand,” she said.
Mubaiwa’s trial in which she is accused of assault failed to kick off due to the absence of the prosecutor.
Her sickness is alleged to have emanated from the injuries she sustained in the White City bombing in Bulawayo in the run-up to the July 2018 elections.
Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa postponed Mubaiwa’s trial to the 30th of November.
Meanwhile, Mubaiwa was also remanded to 30 November in another case in which she is being charged of attempted murder for ‘trying to kill’ her ex husband while he was battling for his life in South Africa.

Village Heads Refuse to Intimidate Subjects To Support Zanu PF
Farai Dziva|A village head in Chivi has flatly refused to be used by Zanu PF to intimidate his subjects.
The village head believes traditional leaders should execute their duties objectively.
See statement below:
MDC ALLIANCE CHIVI NORTH LEAVES NO STONE UNTURNED
The political conundrum and tempo in Chivi North is growing by the day as the CONSTITUENCY COORDINATING COMMITTEE (CCC) is spearheading visibility programmes in the CONSTITUENCY as they rally people to follow and support the MDC ALLIANCE as led by Pres Advocate Nelson Chamisa.
With the helping hand and support from Hon Chidaushe, one of the leaders in the district, a lot of programs have been lined up as the rural engagement drive is being adopted. It is important to engage the dejected communities and neglected people from rural areas as harnessing these votes is important as the opposition move to win the electorate.
The district leadership of MDC ALLIANCE was invited by village head of Nhapata Village to witness the completion of some tanks which were built with the support from Hon Chidaushe Emmanuel.
The leadership together with Hon Chidaushe visited the village to see the project, present at the event were the district executive and chairs for ward 8.
The event was presided by village Head Nhapata. The village head encouraged his fellow villagers to shun politics paving way for development as living in political mood would derail their chances of accessing need and help from the stakeholders and interested parties.
He rallied people in Nhapata village to capitalize the presence and support rendered by Hon Chidaushe and his proximity since he originate from their village.
The village head advised all people and encouraged them to cooperate and unite in pushing all projects in the village without political blinkers.
Politics without development is tantamount to destruction and it’s high time people embrace those people who are ready to sacrifice and support their communities.
He fumed over those who refused to contribute towards the realisation of community projects as he thanked Hon Chidaushe for standing with them.
Mr Nhapata also requested assistance in the refurbishment some of the water sources including wells and boreholes in his and surrounding villages.
He urged people of Nhapata to support their son Hon Chidaushe whom he described as the first person to emerge in their area spearheading community projects and development.
The CCC Secretary Mr Farai Zavidzi asked the villagers to support their son by standing with him in good times and bad times and when the time comes as well.
He described him as an asset in the whole constituency and not only Nhapata village only. In his words, Mr Zavidzi said that, “muporofita haarumbidzwi newekwake asi imi vekwa nhapata rumbidzai”.
Today Sunday 06/09/2020, Hon Chidaushe invited all needy people to access the services of his grinding mill free of charge.
The people from ward 11, ward 7 and 8 will walk away smiling after the golden handshake where they will not pay for these services.
Leader Chidaushe said that he has set aside this day so that the people can be cushioned at the height of economic trauma and challenges where they can not even afford to buy salt and worse mealie meal. He promised the community that he will set aside one day per each month to help those in needy. At the time of writing, more than 50 families were jovially waiting on the queue.
This dispells the notion that MDC ALLIANCE is not doing anything in communities as said by detractors.
The energetic young man promised to do a lot of programs in complementing the SMART blue print in his CONSTITUENCY and the province at Large.

Chiwenga Outlines Plan For Zim Healthcare

Woman Demands $3.5 Million From Choppies After Stumbling Inside Shop
A BULAWAYO woman who tripped after stepping on a slippery floor while shopping at a local Choppies Supermarket has taken the shop owners to court demanding $3,5 million in damages for pain, suffering and medical expenses.
Ms Gladys Nhira slipped while shopping at Choppies Supermarket in Entumbane suburb. She sustained serious injuries on her wrist and shoulder and had to seek medical attention.
Ms Nhira through her lawyers, Liberty Mcijo and Associates, has filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court citing Nanavac Investments trading as Choppies Supermarket as the defendant.
In papers before the court, Ms Nhira said she sustained permanent disability resulting in her employer terminating her contract on medical grounds.
“Sometime in February 2019, plaintiff slipped on the oily and slippery floor in the shop of the defendant in Entumbane resulting in her falling down while she was shopping. As a result of the fall, she sustained serious injuries on her wrist and shoulder,” said Ms Nhira’s lawyers.
The lawyers said due to the severity of the injuries, Ms Nhira took long to return to work and was later relieved of her duties on medical grounds.
Upon further medical examination, it was observed that Ms Nhira sustained serious injuries both internal and external with the potential to permanent impairment.
“She suffered wrist fracture and shoulder injury and further diagnosis of the wrist fracture revealed that the problem would last for an unforeseeable future. Plaintiff is experiencing wrist and shoulder pains as the weather changes,” said the lawyers.
Ms Nhira accuses Choppies Supermarket of negligence, arguing that they failed to observe the safety standards in their supermarket.
“As a direct consequence of the injuries sustained, plaintiff who has been employed for 11 years as a tailor on a permanent basis by Pension Knitwear had her employment contract terminated,” said her lawyers.
Ms Nhira wants an order directing Choppies Supermaket to pay her $3,5 million being damages for pain and suffering, loss of employment and medical expenses incurred, including futures ones.
She said despite demand, Choppies Supermarket has refused, failed or neglected to pay the damages.
Choppies Supermarket is yet to respond.

ZACC Descends On Gweru City Council
GWERU City Council (GCC) officials allegedly allocated each other more than one stand against the council policy allowing just one stand per person.
According to the employment conditions for managers and councillors, each of them is entitled to buy only one stand but officials went against this policy and allocated each other more than one stand.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) said it is looking into the matter.
According to documents in possession of this publication, officials in the Housing and Community Services department allegedly allocated themselves more than a stand each at a time when there is a moratorium on the selling of stands.
An MDC-Alliance member Mr Murisi Zwizwai also benefited from the scam and paid a paltry ZW$12 437 for stand number 3042 Randolph Phase 1 which is 5 407m2, seven years after he was offered the stand.
On the market, a stand which is 1 000m2 is going for about US$10 000 but council sold Mr Zwizwai 5 407m2 for less than US$120.
According to council regulations, after receiving a stand offer letter, Mr Zwizwai was supposed to have paid a deposit within seven days.
He was supposed to have been given a two-year grace period to pay the balance failure of which could have resulted in the repossession of the stand.
Mr Zwizwai only paid for the stand this month.
According to City of Gweru debtors billing document in possession of the Chronicle, the director of Housing and Community Services Mr Shingirirayi Tigere got one stand in Randolph Phase 1 and another one in Senga suburb.
Mr Tigere has since made part payment towards the purchase of the two stands.
Mr Tigere’s assistant Mrs Unity Jaji also got a stand in Randolph Phase 1 and another one in Mkoba 21 and has also made part payment towards the purchase of the two stands.
Another assistant director Mr Manford Gambiza was also allocated a stand in Mkoba 21 and another in Randolph Phase 1 and has since made part payment towards the purchase of the two stands.
Housing officer Mr Admire Chigayo also got a stand in Randolph Phase 1 and the second one in Mkoba 21.
Mr Biggie Ngadze, a senior administration officer was allocated a stand in Mkoba 21 and another one in Randolph Phase 1 and has since made part payment towards the purchase of the two stands.
Mr Tigere’s secretary Mrs Emma Manyika was allocated a stand in Mkoba 21 and another one in Randolph Phase 2. The Chronicle has documents confirming the beneficiaries’ stand numbers and amounts paid so far towards the purchase of the stands.
Contacted for comment, Mr Zwizwai said he has been paying for the stand since 2013.
“I have been paying for the stand in Gweru, that all I can say,” he said.
Mr Tigere, Mrs Jaji, Mr Gambiza, Mr Ngadze, Mr Chigayo and Mrs Manyika said they were not allowed to speak to the Press as council had channels of communication.
Contacted for comment, Mayor Councillor Josiah Makombe accused Mr Tigere and his subordinates of abusing council resources for their benefit.
He said it was baffling that Mr Tigere and his subordinates allocated themselves stands against council policy which limits individuals to just one stand.
Clr Makombe said the action by Mr Tigere is a clear evidence of rampant abuse of office by management.
He said he has since instructed the internal auditor to look into the matter and warned heads will soon roll at Town House.
“The director of Housing and Community Services and his subordinates have allocated themselves more than one stand each against council policy. Employees in the department of Engineering Services have also done the same. We can’t have that as it is tantamount to poor corporate governance,” said Clr Makombe.
He said Mr Tigere and other managers are entitled to one stand each as part of their conditions of service.
Asked to comment on Mr Zwizwai’s case, Clr Makombe said he should have responded to the council offer within the stipulated period.
He however, said he was not aware why the stand was not repossessed given that others who failed to respond to offers within the given time had their stands repossessed.
“I will need to look into this matter. It’s all administrative and if we are not alerted by whistle blowers like in this case, we will be in the dark,” said Clr Makombe.
He said council had stopped selling land because of the Government’s moratorium on selling of land within local authorities..
“We have investors who want to invest and need land but we are not selling the land because we are following the circular on the moratorium by the ministry,” said Clr Makombe.
He said he has since engaged Zacc and the police to assist council investigate suspected abuse of council resources by council managers.
“We approached Zacc and they said they are coming and it has been long. We have a situation where management is abusing resources and the residents will think that it’s the councillors. We are appealing for assistance from relevant law enforcement agencies to bring order to our council,” said Clr Makombe.
Zacc spokesperson Commissioner John Makamure said they are making a follow up.

Don’t Lose Hope, Chipezeze Urges Billiat, Katsande

Warriors captain and Baroka Chiefs goalie Elvis Chipezeze said he feels sorry for his compatriots, the Kaizer Chiefs duo of Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande after they failed to win the 2019/20 Absa Premiership.
Baroka held Chiefs to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, a result which ensured the former survived relegation.
By failing to beat Baroka, Amakhosi allowed Mamelodi Sundowns to clinch the Championship and extend their own title drought with another year.
Chipezeze said they were focused on avoiding the playoffs rather than on who won the title.
He said:
Actually l feel bad for them but you know in this game like l always say when you’re in the jungle you have to work for what you have.
They were on top for a long time and losing it like that must be heartbreaking for them and l feel sorry for them but we also wanted to survive, that’s how football is.
So credit must go to the boys they worked hard because it was a battle between those that wanted to win the championship and those who wanted to survive.
And you know what happens when you want to survive, you just do anything so that you survive.
The former Chicken Inn goalkeeper is, however, not happy with having to fight to avoid the chop every season.
He expressed his desire to finish at a respectable position in the upcoming season.-H- Metro
Mnangagwa Speaks On Shooting Of Soldiers In Chivhu

Emmerson Mnangagwa statement :
It was with a deep sense or shock and great sadness that I learnt about the Chivhu shooting incident on Saturday afternoon, 5th September 2020, which claimed the life of one serving member of the Zimbabwe National Army, Lance Corporal Lorance Mupanganyama, and left the second member, Corporal Peter Zvirevo, with serious gunshot injuries.
This cowardly and senseless attack by an assailant on the two soldiers who were enforcing lockdown measures aimed at mitigating the spread of the deadly Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) at the Police Base near the Chivhu Chicken Inn, must be condemned in the strongest possible terms by all peace-loving Zimbabweans.
Government will not tolerate anyone who attacks, harms or kills any member of the security establishment, let alone disarming and unlawfully taking arms of war in their possession. Any breach of this nature will attract severe punishment.
The role played by members of the public at the Chivhu crime scene when they rendered help to the injured soldiers and took them to the nearest health facility. is highly commendable and exemplary.
Their actions were a show of great compassion and high respect for the work our soldiers do to ensure national security and a demonstration of the spirit of Ubuntu that has come to characterize our great Nation.
On behalf of Government, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, and on my own behalf, I wish to express my heart-felt condolences to the family of the late Lance Corporal Mupanganyama on his untimely death. May his soul of rest in eternal peace.
In the same breath, I wish speedy recovery to Corporal Peter Zvirevo who sustained injuries during the attack and to Corporal Stanalious Chiunye who was shot at yesterday, in the course of apprehending the suspected assailants.
Our hearts and prayers are with all the affected families.
Supa Mandiwanzira Trial Postponed

The trial of Supa Mandiwanzira failed to start on Friday.
Manziwanzira is facing criminal abuse of office charges after he reportedly his personal assistant, Tawanda Chinembiri was assigned to the board of the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) without due process.
The state reportedly applied that the trial be postponed for the umpteenth time and Mandiwanzira’s lawyers Fungai Chimwamurombe opposed the application and said the state has failed to amend Mandiwanzira’s charges and there is no law that stipulates that someone can be put on remand when there is no charge against him.
Argued Chimwamurombe:
The State was given more than a month to come up with a new charge and the order was clear.
It is clear the State is not ready and has never been ready to prosecute this case as the record will show. The accused has been on remand for two years now.
The magistrate granted the state’s application and postponed the trial to a later date.-Daily News
I Am Not A One-Hit Wonder:Mambo Dhuterere

Gospel musician Darlington Mutseta, known by his music followers as Mambo Dhuterere, has said the release of his fourth album yesterday proves to critics that he is not a one-hit wonder.
The album — “Zvino Dzimba Ngoni” — comes at a time when some gospel music fans were beginning to doubt Mambo Dhuterere’s pedigree, challenging him to prove his mettle after he recently stormed the music scene with chart-topping songs.
He released albums “Dhuterere” in 2015, “Tsamba” (2018) and “Dare Guru” last year.
“Zvino Dzimba Ngoni”, which carries five songs, was due for release on August 25, but was postponed owing to logistical problems.
The songs on the album are “Zvinonyadzisa”, “Ndabvunza Manuere”, “Kubata Basa”, “Ndinzwe Mambo” and “Kurira Mkundi”.
The album was by yesterday already trending on social media, with “Ndabvunza Manuere” attracting over 13 000 views on Youtube by afternoon.
“My album is out and already some of the songs are on YouTube and I am appreciating how fans are receiving them,” said Mambo Dhuterere.
“I take time perfecting my music in the studio, hence some people would end up thinking I am a ‘one-hit wonder’.
“I do not do music for views, but my music is about preaching the gospel and it is the people who make it a hit song.
At the same time, I am celebrating the milestone of “Mweya Ndisesekedze”, and “Ahuwerere” which have each reached a million views on social media, showing that people are appreciating my music and I respect that.
“After this new album, some months ahead, the same people will again say I am a one hit wonder. People will always talk, but you just need to stay in focus and true to your calling.”
Mambo Dhuterere, of St John Apostolic Church, said the album was recorded by Makumbe of VOT Studios and inspired by societal settings.
“I sing what I see every day, giving solutions to the society.
Surprisingly, my songs are about story telling, hence on this new album there are no collaborations because it is about continuity and the vision I am sharing on the songs.
“Having a collaboration means I would need to sit down again and restructure, compose the song to suit the artiste I am featuring.
The messages have depth in the songs and people should take heed and take time to listen before reviewing at an early stage” he said.-The Herald
South Africa Has No Capacity To Make Demands On Zimbabwean Internal Affairs
By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The rumour monger has again started to spin into overdrive against Zimbabwe. There has been a talk of intervention by south Africa in Zimbabwe. This rumour is spread and calculated to make people believe that there is a crisis in Zimbabwe. We have clearly proved that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe. The arrest of Mr Hopewell Ching’ono and Job Sikhala is not peculiar to Zimbabwe. We saw in Australia tens of people arrested for inciting, this included the arrest of a heavily pregnant lady and an old man for inciting a demonstration against the COVID 19 restrictions laws. Surprisingly, there was no backlash from the self-ordained human rights activists.
On the 4th September 2020 a reporter by the name Peter Fabricius posted an article which was headed “WE MEET CHAMISA OR NO DONATIONS, South Africa tells Mnangagwa” in this article the writer alleged that Zimbabwe wants PPEs from South Africa and are relying on South Africa to clean its image in the world platform. It alleged further that Zimbabwe needs South African support to secure international loans to tide it over the presumed Zimbabwean economic crisis.
The article continues to state that South Africa is withholding the support pending the agreement by Zimbabwe to allow the South African representatives to come and meet Chamisa. The narrative of these losers is to portray Zimbabwe as a country in despair and in need of help.
The issues which have escaped the mind of such detractors are that whatever the situation Zimbabwe is in, no country has a right to come and intervene in Zimbabwe’s affairs. Intervention is only done with agreement and approval of the United Nations. South Africa is struggling with COVID 19. South Africa’s number of the dead going by the ratio it is higher than that of Zimbabwe by far. It has failed to supply and avail PPE’s to their own people.
Zimbabwe is a sovereign state and it can not be dictated to by South Africa. South Africa has no right nor even little power to poke its nose in Zimbabwe. Any involvement in Zimbabwe’s affairs is by the strict invitation by the Zimbabwean government. The coming to Zimbabwe by anyone from South Africa is at the pleasure of Zimbabwe’s government. The presumed crisis in Zimbabwe is entirely a smoke screen, a mirage which will fade into nothingness once you get nearer. By inviting South Africa into Zimbabwe, we simply want to stretch our hands and show that as a nation we have nothing to hide. Detractors have deliberately misinformed people into believing that Zimbabwe is in a crisis and needs South Africa .
It can be said for the record Zimbabwe does not need South Africa and Chamisa is not a game changer.
There is a wishful thinking in the small heads of the opposition members that Chamisa controls the direction of Zimbabwean politics. Chamisa is riding on a very high horse and he needs to disembark from the high horse and come to the level of reality. Chamisa wishes to fit in where he has no posture,
It is in a Humanitarian situation that a neighbouring country may intervene. Humanitarian intervention has been defined as a state’s use of military force against another state, with publicly stating its goal is to end human rights violations in that state. This definition may be too narrow as it precludes non-military forms of intervention such as humanitarian aid and international sanctions. On this broader understanding, “Humanitarian intervention should be understood to encompass… non-forcible methods, namely intervention undertaken without military force to alleviate mass human suffering within sovereign borders.”
There is not one standard or legal definition of humanitarian intervention; the field of analysis (such as law, ethics or politics) often influences the definition that is chosen. Differences in definition include variations in whether humanitarian intervention is limited to instances where there is an absence of consent from the host state; whether humanitarian intervention is limited to punishment actions; and whether humanitarian intervention is limited to cases where there has been explicit UN Security Council authorization for action. There is, however, a general consensus on some of its essential characteristics: Humanitarian intervention involves the threat and use of military forces as a central feature It is an intervention in the sense that it entails interfering in the internal affairs of a state by sending military forces into the territory or airspace of a sovereign state that has not committed an act of aggression against another state. The intervention is in response to situations that do not necessarily pose direct threats to states’ strategic interests, but instead is motivated by humanitarian objectives.
Looking into all these issues Zimbabwe is not yet into any of these situations, again it will never reach that situation. The crisis in a country is not defined by the opposition. Neither is it defined on social media. intervention is as ancient and well-established an instrument of foreign policy as are diplomatic pressure, negotiations and war. From the time of the ancient Greeks to this day, some states have found it advantageous to intervene in the affairs of other states on behalf of their own interests and against the latter’s’ will. Other states, in view of their interests, have opposed such interventions and have intervened on behalf of theirs.
The United Nations Charter and the Charter of the Organization of American States forbid only intervention by states. … No State or group of States has the right to intervene, directly or in- directly, for any reason whatever, in the internal or external affairs of any other State. The foregoing would apply to activities by foreign nationals and equally to activities by one’s own nationals so long as these activities were “private” and there was no official participation by the state claiming neutrality. It would appear that the foregoing brief description derived from international law relating to neutrality would be the most severe test possible in a situation where war had not broken out. That is, it would seem that the obligations of the state to prevent revolutionary activities aimed at the government of a foreign state from taking place within its borders could not be more than its obligations as a neutral in the event hostilities had taken place. Indeed, these obligations may be considerably less since the state involved is not claiming a formally neutral status and since the primary purpose of international law relating to neutrality is to prevent the spread of hostilities.
The starting point is the Charter of the UN. Article 1 very importantly sets out its purpose:
1.1 To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state or shall require the Members to submit such matters to settlement under the present Charter; but this principle shall not prejudice the application of enforcement measures under Chapter Vll.
So in a clear situation intervention is judged in international relations.
In international relations, intervention is defined as using force to interfere in another nation’s affairs in a way that affects that nation’s control over its territory or population. Intervention can take on many forms, depending on the conflict or issue that’s occurring.
While military force is the most well-known and historically used form of intervention, there are several different ways that forcible intervention is used.
The most well-known and historical form of intervention is military intervention, the use of armed forces to resolve a conflict occurring in another nation. Throughout history, militaries were frequently used to assist a nation in protecting or expanding its territories or sovereignty.
Since the Cold War, economic sanctions have become the most commonly used form of intervention. Economic sanctions are actions taken against a nation with the goal of harming that nation’s economy. Trade restrictions, cutting off all trade and commerce with a country (called embargoes), Prohibiting investments by companies in a nation’s economy can also be an effective type of sanction. Reductions in foreign aid can also put pressure on a nation. Foreign aid (often in the form of a grant or low interest loan) can strengthen a country’s military, improve its infrastructure and industries, or reduce poverty. Political intervention occurs when a nation uses pressure, money, or technology to influence the political structure of another nation. This can be in the form of backing one political party over another, launching a campaign in favour of or against one party, or tampering with another nation’s political elections, called electoral intervention, which is the most widely used form of political intervention. This is the interventions applied on Zimbabwe by America. Now they are trying to persuade South Africa to take a side against Zimbabwe.
The Friendly Relations Declaration (UN General Assembly, 1970), included under the principle of non-intervention the following paragraph: No State or group of States has the right to intervene, directly or indirectly, for any reason whatever, in the internal or external affairs of any other State. Consequently, armed intervention and all other forms of interference or attempted threats against the personality of the State or against its political, economic and cultural elements, are in violation of international law. So, any intervention is illegal and South Africa will not be dragged into the fiction created by the MDC. The more common term for the legal principle is “non-intervention”, though “non-interference” is also used. In many contexts the two terms seem to be interchangeable, but “non-interference” suggests a wider prohibition, particularly when used in addition to intervention. Yet “the interference must be forcible or dictatorial, or otherwise coercive, in effect depriving the state intervened against of control over the matter in question. Interference pure and simple is not intervention” SO IN Zimbabwe’s situation the South Africans are invited they are not imposing a visit. The principle of non-intervention is the mirror image of the sovereignty of States. The prohibition of intervention “is a corollary of every state’s right to sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence”. to the international legal limits on a State’s jurisdiction to prescribe and to enforce. The sub-title “Non-interference in a state’s internal affairs used to be a rule of international law: is it still?” was intended to be rhetorical. There is no doubt that the principle of non-intervention remains well-established in contemporary international law. It is part of customary international law, as the International Court of Justice has reaffirmed on a number of occasions. And it is also reflected in many treaties, such as the Charter of the Organization of American States and the Constitutive Act of the African Union. While not expressly set out in the UN Charter, it is generally held to be implicit in various of its provisions, the principle of the sovereign equality of States (Article 2.1). It was of course included in the 1970 Friendly Relations Declaration.
So, the fabricated stories about Chamisa dictating the pace of political stability in Zimbabwe is mischievous and nonsense. The whole country cannot be held at ransom by an imaginary party. Zimbabwe is friendly to all our neighbours and none is more important than the other.

Village Head Refuses To Be Used By Zanu PF

Zanu PF Plot To Dismantle MDC Alliance Led Councils Exposed

The MDC Alliance presidential affairs secretary Jameson Timba has made claims that the MDC T is working in cahoots with the government to decimate the MDC Alliance led councils, a move that will allow the government to appoint a commision that will run the council till the next elections in 2023.
Speaking to The Standard Timba said:
First, we are aware that Zanu PF is working with Thokozani Khupe, Mwonzora and company to disrupt service delivery in Harare by paralysing the operations of the city council through their unlawful recall of councillors. We are also aware that they are inimical to democracy and will go out of their way to reverse the will of the people of Harare as expressed on July 31, 2018.
Let me put it on record that the terms of office of the MDC-T anarchists, who masquerade as constitutionalists expired in October 2019, in addition, the court extended terms of office to July 31 and they do not have any legal mandate to purport to act for and on behalf of the defunct MDC.
Any such purported recall is null and void. Any such purported recall is voidable.
An MDC T insider on Friday said the MDC T was planning to recall councillors in a bid to paralyse the council which will then lead to the government appointing a commission to run the council till 2023.
However, both Mwonzora and Komich denied the claims that they were moving to dismantle the council.-The Standard
Khupe Plans To Destroy Chamisa’s Harare Council Mayorship Full Text By Herald
The two MDC formations are haggling over the Harare mayoral elections held last week with Dr Thokozani Khupe’s MDC-T saying they want the polls nullified.
The Khupe-led formation said the election of Councillor Jacob Mafume from the Tendai Biti’s People Democratic Party (PDP) violated the agreement, which provided that the MDC-T should be the one that provides the mayor.
Cllr Mafume beat Luckson Mukunguma to land the top post in the capital. In an interview yesterday, MDC-T secretary-general Mr Douglas Mwonzora said an agreement that was signed by alliance partners stipulated that the post of the mayor should be occupied by a party that had the greatest number of councillors.
He said the post of deputy mayor should be occupied by the party that had the second highest number of councillors.
“That agreement is still valid and it is the basis upon which the Supreme Court made its determination when it conferred us the legitimacy to be at the helm of the party,” said Mr Mwonzora.
He said there are several options that they were pursuing in consultations with their lawyers.
“We cannot recall a councillor who is not from our political party as what is the case with respect to Cllr Mafume. But one option is to challenge the election result by applying for its nullification, another option is to recall our councillors while another one is to leave it like that. We are still consulting with our lawyers,” said Mr Mwonzora.
Secretary-general of the Chamisa formation Mr Charlton Hwende said the election of councillors were done in terms of the law and not in terms of an Alliance agreement.
“An election of a mayor is done in terms of the Urban Councils Act and not in terms of some controversial agreement. The Act does not make any other references that should be applied in electing a mayor. Councillor Mafume was elected by councillors in terms of that Act and you cannot bring in some paper which is in dispute. If Mwonzora was acting in good faith why did he not allow Councillor Mafume to be deputy mayor from the first instance,” he said. -Herald
Zanu PF Keen To Neutralize Social Media Platforms
ZANU-PF is set to come up with provincial social media teams to defend the party and Government programmes on social media following campaigns by opposition elements fomenting violence while tarnishing the country’s image.
Last month, the opposition working with some western embassies and non-governmental organisations, used social media to try effect regime change through violence disguised as demonstrations against corruption.
The opposition has also deliberately misconstrued the signing of the Global Compensation Deed (GCD) designed to compensate white former farm owners as a reversal of the land reform programme by the Second Republic.
Speaking during a Matabeleland North Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) meeting yesterday, Zanu-PF Politburo member Munyaradzi Machacha, said while many people were spreading misinformation about the country on social media, party members were slackening in defending the party’s programmes.
He said land reform will never be reversed but the Government in signing the GCD was following the dictates of the Constitution.
“We therefore should come up with provincial social media teams to articulate the party and Government policies. While some people would be going to the farms while others work in industries, we should also have a cyber unit which will be involved in defending the party’s programmes on social media platforms.
Social media has become the new battlefield for control, but the opposition is using it to portray the country in bad light which is not the situation of the ground,” said Machacha.
“We have facts and statistics of what is happening on the ground. While they send lies on social media our teams should counter that with facts and we expect each province to be doing this.”
He said the Politburo has resolved to set up District Co-ordinating Committees (DCC) in eight provinces as has already been done with Bulawayo and Harare.
“Remember we had DCCs in the past but they became more powerful and influential than what they were designed to be.
They became more powerful than their superior structures that is why the party resolved to disband them.
But we have observed that there is a gap that has been caused by their absence in the districts that is why we are bringing them back,” he said.
“We had cases where the PCC would go and ask for permission from them yet the PCC was superior. When we set up the new structures, we will allow them to fly but we will clip their wings so they will not fly like eagles. They would not assume the same powers as they did previously.”
Speaking at the Bulawayo PCC meeting at Davies Hall in the city yesterday, party Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu challenged the party’s newly elected Bulawayo provincial executive to play a leading role in mobilising support to ensure that the party resoundingly wins in the 2023 harmonised elections.
He said the interim provincial executive committee should also help instil discipline among members and strengthen structures in preparation for the 2023 harmonised elections.-Chronicle

Cleric Claims Credit For “Predicting”Jacob Mafume Victory

Own Correspondent |Controversial Masvingo based cleric, Isaac Makomichi has claimed Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora will receive $ 1,2 million to destroy the MDC Alliance.
Makomichi claimed he got the revelation in a prophetic dream.
He also claimed credit for predicting Jacob Mafume’s victory in the Harare Mayoral election.
He tweeted:
“Remember I said to the press ndarota Mafume(now Harare mayor)ahwina ne5 votes, ndarotazve Khupe,Komichi&Mwonzora vachipiwa US$ 1.2 million kuti vaparadze MDC Alliance, guess who paid them? It’s not wat people think. Huyayi vadudziri.”
“Hopewell Chin’ono Is A True Freedom Fighter”

Farai Dziva|MDC Alliance leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa has described veteran journalist Hopewell Chin’ono as a true freedom fighter.
Chin’ono was arrested and detained by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration for exposing corruption.
President Chamisa visited Chin’ono at his house on Saturday.
President Chamisa said:
“Today(Saturday), I visited a Hero and Veteran Journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono.
We thank God that he is recovering well after being released on bail. The freedom fighter spent 45 days in prison upon denial of bail.
Hope ignites hope. He remains steadfast in fighting corruption and speaking truth to power.

Another Opposition Leader Snubs POLAD
Own Correspondent|Opposition leader Noah Manyika has said he is not desperate to join Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s POLAD.
Manyika described POLAD as a “captured platform.”
“I have just received an inquiry from a journalist about Mnangagwa’s statement today inviting those who have so far refused to join POLAD to do so. I responded as follows:
Mnangagwa is still operating under the delusion that everyone is desperate to join the gravy train. I am not.
He still believes everyone can be bought, threatened, coerced into cooperating with his repressive, corrupt and incompetent regime.
The fight is not to join POLAD, but for freedom. The fight is to change a sadistic and selfish system whose true colours have now become evident to all.
The real message from Mnangagwa is when we saw the abduction and torture of Mathuthu’s relative, and Hopewell Chin’ono and Jacob Ngarivhume in leg irons and much much more.
The message is evident through the Neanderthal thinking that the brutal reality in our country can be changed by denying it, or that calls by the clergy for the government to do what’s right should be used as an opportunity to threaten Ndebeles.
Mnangagwa’s message is clear when he attempts to use an issue as critical as land to separate the white community from the rest of the Zimbabweans who live tortured lives under his regime.
Mnangagwa’s imperious statements that assume everyone will go crawling to State House at his call demonstrate the extent of his delusions of grandeur.
Ultimately, no authoritarian, no matter how vicious, can escape the consequences of their own folly.
One day, Zimbabwe shall be free,” said Manyika.

Chiwenga “First Day At Work” Announces Increment Of Health Workers Salaries
Paul Nyathi
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga on Monday said government had reviewed salaries and allowances for health professions, in a bid to motivate them to return back to work.
Zimbabwe’s health professionals have been on strike for several months now.
Addressing journalists, VP Chiwenga, also the minister of Health and Child Care, said the workers will be also offered housing and vehicle loans.
“We have now reviewed salaries and allowances for health professionals as a way of government commitment to make the national health care system competitive. To this end, an overall increase on health sector specific allowances will be effected by government,” he said.
He added : ”The Ministry of Health and Child Care new structure includes the critical infrastructure planning and development department which is key to the provision of accommodation for health professionals among other infrastructure needs. Housing and vehicle loans will also form part of the improved conditions of service.”
Going forward, VP Chiwenga said, the health professionals must now deliver their mandate.
“We expect all grievances to be solved amicably through discussion without endangering the lives of patients. Never again shall patient’s lives be used as pawns in a game of chess.
“Health professionals will now be expected to be true to their oath of office. We also expect any demands to be made based on our national reality,” he said.
He added; “As government we commit to continuously review the conditions of service of our health professionals.”
Speaking at the same event, Finance and Economic Development Minister Prof Mthuli Ncube said government would however not overspend on the salary reviews.
“Indeed our intention is to improve the conditions of service for the health sector and also the entire civil service focusing on call salaries as well as specific health sector allowances.
“As we do this, we will seek to make sure that we stay within our budgetary parameters so that civil servants wage bill does not run away,” he said.
This comes as government and civil servants are set for salary talks on Wednesday.
The civil servants are demanding an equivalent of their October 2018 forex salaries.
Currently, the lowest paid civil servants earns below the ZWL$14.000 poverty datum line.

Mnangagwa Joins Oppah Muchinguri “WhatsApp Group,” Tamper With The Soldiers They Will Kill You.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has condemned in the “strongest possible terms” the “cowardly and senseless” attack on members of the security services at a police post in Chivhu over the weekend.
Two assailants stormed Chivhu Police Post on Saturday and shot two soldiers, killing Lance Corporal Lorance Mupunganyama while Corporal Peter Zvirevo sustained multiple injuries.
The two soldiers were enforcing Covid-19 national lockdown measures when the assailants hit the ZRP post in what the police described as “a murder, attempted murder and robbery incident”.
A combined police and army team tracked the assailants down Sunday resulting in a gun battle after the duo resisted arrested and instead opened fire on the security services team.
The assailants were killed in the ensuing gun battle while Corporal Stanalious Chiunyesu of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) stained leg injuries.
In his condolence message, President Mnangagwa said he had learnt of the passing Lance Corporal Mupunganyama with a “deep sense of shock and great sadness”.
He said the “cowardly and senseless” attack by the assailants must be “condemned in the strongest possible terms by all peace-loving Zimbabweans”.
“Government will not tolerate anyone who attacks, harms kills any member of the security establishment, let alone disarming and unlawfully taking arms of war in their possession. Any breach of this nature will attract severe punishment,” said the President.
“The role played by members of the public at the Chivhu crime scene when they rendered help to the injured soldiers and took them to nearest health facility is highly commendable and exemplary.
“Their actions were a show of great compassion and high respect for the work our soldiers do to ensure national security and a demonstration of the spirit of Ubuntu that has come to characterise our great nation.”
The injured servicemen – Corporal Zvirevo and Corporal Chiunye – are now admitted at West End Hospital in Harare after being transferred from Chivhu Hospital.
Corporal Zvirevo is critical and is admitted in the intensive care unit after undergoing an operation.
President Mnangagwa wished the injured servicemen “a speedy recovery”.
“Our hearts and prayers are with all the affected families,” he said.

Unclaimed Pensions Rise To Over $190million
By A Correspondent- Unclaimed pensions in Zimbabwe have risen from around $27 million in June 2019 to about $196 Million now Business Times reports. According to the publication, this is largely due to lack of knowledge on the part of pension scheme members and or as a result of poor record-keeping by the pension funds themselves or outdated records, which makes it difficult for the pension funds to trace the members.
Speaking about the issue IPEC commissioner, Grace Muradzikwa said:
The Commission is concerned that pension funds are holding on to ZWL$196m in unclaimed benefits, which speaks to the importance of keeping good databases This is quite a challenge and worrisome
Commenting on the issue a member of the NEC in the clothing industry Mehluli Moyo said:
Every month, employees gave up a portion of their earnings in order to provide themselves and their families when they retire. We want everyone to claim what they are entitled to. But, their hopes have been dashed as many have not been paid the pensions that they are owed. Employees should be sensitised on the matter so that they can claim their vital benefits because many are unaware that that they are members of retirement funds and are not aware of benefits owing to them.
It’s unfortunate that members of retirement funds are not kept up to date on the state of their funds. Some members are also to blame because they don’t inform their dependents they had benefits owing to them. It’s critical that members of pensions fund open up and inform dependents about their retirement funds.
According to a report by IPEC, 153 000 pensioners have not claimed the vital benefits they are entitled to in retirement.-BusinessTimes
South Africa’s ANC Public Representatives To Provide A Police Clearance To Qualify For Office
ANC regional task team leader Nceba Faku has called on all ANC public representatives to obtain a police criminal clearance certificate, something he said was a sad indictment on the party, but a necessity.
In a statement at the weekend — after Faku visited the Mount Road police station in Port Elizabeth to sort out his clearance certificate — he said he had made arrangements for all regional task team (RTT) members to do the same.
“The directives from our upper structures are clear that all RTT members and all public representatives should undergo a process to declare their interests and absolve themselves from any wrongdoing, and as such the RTT officials will lead by example. This is where this process starts today,” Faku said.
He said members needed to obtain the clearance certificates to signify they had not been charged with any crimes, were not awaiting trial and had not been accused of a crime.
“[This] is the arrangement I have made today with the authorities.
“On Monday at 11am, the ANC RTT collective will be going to Mount Road police station to undergo this police clearance process together, whereafter all ANC councillors and parliament members from the metro will follow.
“It is very unfortunate that I should be talking about this, that we as the ANC have regressed in such a way that such steps are necessary to allow us to self-correct. But we will approach this matter head-on and continue to do what is right, and that is to cleanse and rehabilitate our organisation no matter how reactionary some may become,” Faku said.
His statement comes a week after RTT regional co-ordinator Luyolo Nqakula gave Andile Lungisa 72 hours to resign from the council and step down as a task team member of the party’s ward 2 branch.
Lungisa was convicted of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm after he smashed a glass water jug over the head of DA councillor Rano Kayser during a heated council meeting in October 2016.
He is appealing his two-year jail sentence.
In a letter to Lungisa last Sunday, the Bay regional task team said it was seeking the go-ahead from the party’s Eastern Cape bosses to temporarily suspend Lungisa’s ANC membership.
The next day, a group of protesters gathered outside the ANC’s regional headquarters, Florence Matomela House.
The group, which said to represent 52 branches in the metro, released a list with 25 names of people they said made up the new regional task team, insisting they would operate from the party’s offices.
‘I want to clear my name,’ says axed Durban mayor Zandile Gumede
Former Durban mayor Zandile Gumede has vowed to “set the record straight” after being removed from the powerful post this week.
Two of those whose names were on the list have distanced themselves from the “new RTT”.
Thembinkosi Mafana from Ward 60 said he was retracting his name from the list as he was included without consultation and without his knowledge.
Tracy Mackie said she consulted both the ANC Eastern Cape provincial secretary, Lulama Ngcukayitobi, and Nqakula and told her the list had no legitimacy.
“For whatever cause that it was felt necessary to use my name without consultation, this remains an infringement on my individual rights,” she said. “It also affects my privacy and public persona, which I guard vehemently.
“I will always welcome inclusive and constructive debate on ANC matters, particularly now amid serious allegations of corruption about illicit public sector procurement.
“However, this should be in a consultative forum,” she said.
ANC regional spokesperson JP Pretorius said there was no new or parallel RTT because only an upper structure could appoint and dissolve ANC structures, and there was no such intervention undertaken by the provincial executive council (PEC).
“So we are not surprised that disciplined, inducted members of the ANC, who understand the ANC constitution and have the organisation’s best interest at heart, would distance themselves from such controversy and misconduct.
“The malicious timing of this incident is nothing else than an act to undermine the PEC due to disciplinary issues of some members in the metro,” Pretorius said.
Faku said once the clearance certificate exercise had been undertaken, a report on all members facing criminal charges and disciplinary charges would be submitted to the PEC to deal with the matter at that level.

ZIFA Has Not Even Submitted An Application To Resume Football To The SRC
ZIFA has not yet approached the Sports and Recreational Commission (SRC) to make an application for domestic football to resume following its suspension in March due to the ongoing pandemic, the Daily News reports.
This was revealed by SRC director-general Prince Mupazviriho who said they just read from the papers that football might provisionally resume on 20 October but they are yet to receive an application from ZIFA:
We are yet to receive the application from Zifa. We are only seeing and reading about what they are saying in the news,. (When they apply) We will be guided by what they want to do in terms of the conditions and we will not be looking at the time frame of. As you are aware, we recently allowed low-risk sports to resume activities and we have quite a number that have applied to start full activities.
The delay in resuming domestic football has put the Warriors who are supposed to play Algeria in November in a tight spot. The Warriors gaffer Logarusic has said he might consider picking foreign-based players for the AFCON qualifiers if football doesn’t resume anytime soon in Zimbabwe.

ZWL$626m Worth Of Processed Pension Funds Unclaimed
Business Times
The total value of unclaimed pension pots in Zimbabwe has risen 626% to nearly ZWL$200m in the last 12 months from ZWL$27m in June last year largely due to lack of knowledge on the part of pension scheme members.
Another reason for the low take up of benefits could be a result of poor record-keeping by the pension funds themselves or outdated records, which makes it difficult for the pension funds to trace the members.
Official data obtained from the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) shows that at least 153 000 pensioners are owed money and living in poverty because they have not been able to claim the vital benefits they are entitle to in retirement.
This represents a 206% increase in the number of pensioners who failed to claim their benefits from an estimated 50 000 pensioners in June last year.
The number is destined to go higher because there seem to be little effort among pension funds administrators to track down beneficiaries of unclaimed pensions. This could be so because as long as the funds remain unclaimed, the administrators continue to earn hefty fees year after year.
This has left millions of dollars belonging to thousands of employees and their families who left their jobs unaware that they had unclaimed pension benefits owed to them, go unclaimed.
This means the affected pensioners could be living in poverty while unaware they are entitled to money that they have not claimed from their pension funds for years. This could have lost value due to hyperinflation Zimbabwe is experiencing.
IPEC commissioner, Grace Muradzikwa, described the situation as worrisome.
“The Commission is concerned that pension funds are holding on to ZWL$196m in unclaimed benefits, which speaks to the importance of keeping good databases,” Muradzikwa said adding: “This is quite a challenge and worrisome.”
A member of the national employment council for the clothing industry, Mehluli Moyo, told Business Times that it was important for employers to sensitise their employees that they were entitled to pensions when they leave employment on retirement or contribution refunds when they resign before reaching retirement age.
“Every month, employees gave up a portion of their earnings in order to provide themselves and their families when they retire. We want everyone to claim what they are entitled to. But, their hopes have been dashed as many have not been paid the pensions that they are owed,”Moyo told Business Times.
He added: “Employees should be sensitised on the matter so that they can claim their vital benefits because many are unaware that that they are members of retirement funds and are not aware of benefits owing to them. It’s unfortunate that members of retirement funds are not kept up to date on the state of their funds. Some members are also to blame because they don’t inform their dependents they had benefits owing to them. It’s critical that members of pensions fund open up and inform dependents about their retirement funds.”
The development comes at a time when several pension funds have applied for dissolution.
According to IPEC, nearly 30 pension funds have applied for dissolution in the last few months.
Most sponsoring employers are also failing to remit contributions deducted from employees’ salaries to pension funds threatening the viability of pension funds.
A Chitungwiza pensioner, Mirirai Kaseke told Business Times: “I left employment about six years ago and I am struggling to make ends meet.
Although I have been contributing for the whole of my working life, I have missed out on money in pension benefits I am entitled to. I changed about four jobs, meaning I contributed to four pension funds but I have failed to track the benefits down which I should be receiving. This (pension benefits) could help enormously.”
It is understood that unclaimed pension benefits are kept at the pension funds for five years, and then after transferred to a “Guardian Fund” awaiting for an eventual claim from the policy holder or any authorised person.
In the event that they remain unclaimed in the guardian fund, the funds are then forfeited to the State for use in national development projects.
IPEC urged pension funds to maintain accurate membership data and contact details of all its members for easy tracking.
Completely New Learning Environment Ahead For Teachers And Learners As Schools Open For Exam Classes
TEACHERS and learners should brace for a new normal ahead of schools reopening and forget customs such as hugs, handshakes and sharing of desks as they used to.
Break and lunch time will be staggered to prevent crowding by learners while sporting activities will be banned when schools reopen for exam-writing classes next week Monday.
In the past pupils or teachers who were not feeling well could attend classes but in the new normal this will be prohibited as the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has adopted a stay at home policy for those feeling unwell until they recover.
This is contained in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education mandatory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) designed to guide schools as they prepare for reopening.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education released SOP on Thursday in response to Covid-19 and compliance to World Health Organisation and Ministry of Health and Child Care, coronavirus prevention regulations.
Covid-19 is known to be more deadly among those with underlying diseases, hence schools will now be required to keep records for teachers and pupils with underlying conditions without stigmatising them.
A maximum of 35 pupils will be permitted in a single classroom as learners and teachers will be required to maintain a physical or social distance of one metre at the school premises.
Schools prematurely closed in March and have remained closed as Government took measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
However, examination classes are expected to reopen on Monday for those sitting for Cambridge examinations while Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) candidates will reopen on September 28.
Zimsec public examinations will start on December 1, as Government is employing a combination of face-to-face and distance learning to bridge the gap that has seen learners being out of school for five months.
In preparing for the new normal, teachers would be trained to become health co-ordinators by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, to enable them to monitor health related matters in the learning institutions.
Temperature checks will be conducted while schools will be mandated to have temporary isolation rooms for those found with high temperatures, before they are referred to heath facilities.
“In line with the Zimbabwe School Health Policy, every school should be linked to a specific clinic or team from the Ministry of Health and Child Care service providers. Through this system, schools should develop effective communication with their allocated health teams to facilitate the care of unwell learners and staff,” read the document.
In case a pupil or staff member contract Covid-19 or become a contact of a positive person they will be required to self isolate for two weeks, before being cleared to return to school.
No other visitor will be allowed in schools except essential service providers.
Physical distancing of at least one metre will be adhered to both teachers and learners while minimising sharing of education stationery including textbooks.
“Teachers and learners should be encouraged to maintain a distance of at least one metre between everyone present at school or college.
“The sitting arrangement in every classroom and in the staff room should be such that there is a distance of one metre from one individual to another. In order to achieve this, there should be one learner at each desk or the school should improve the ‘desk and chair’ approach. A standard sized classroom should therefore not accommodate more than 35 learners,” reads the document.
Hot seating will be encouraged to decongest schools even as examination classes return to school.
Before Covid-19, hot seating was mainly employed by highly congested schools which could not accommodate all learners in one learning session as some pupils would come in the morning while others in the afternoon.
Surfaces such as door handles, desks, toys, light switches, door frames will be frequently disinfected as part of the SOP to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Parents can be engaged in the cleaning of schools in cases where learning institutions cannot afford to pay workers.

Hwange Man Steals US$1.5k From A Catholic Priest’s House To Spoil Girlfriend.
State Media
TO impress his girlfriend, a Hwange man broke into a Catholic priest’s home and stole US$1 500 before showering the woman with gifts while on a spending spree in Victoria Falls.
Admire Gwenzi (34) of 651 Bagdad in Empumalanga suburb used US$400 to buy an iPhone, two other cellphone handsets and some clothes.
He pampered his girlfriend with US$900.
It emerged that this was not the first time Gwenzi had stolen from Fr Zamberlain Bruno who is the administrator of Don Bosco Technical College in Hwange.
He once stole some money from the priest but was not taken to court after the priest forgave him and withdrew the charges when he returned the money.
In the latest incident, only US$200 was recovered from Gwenzi on his arrest.
He pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful entry into premises when he appeared before Hwange magistrate Ms Rangarirai Gakanje who slapped him with 24 months in jail.
The magistrate suspended six months for five years on condition of good behaviour and suspended a further nine months on condition that Gwenzi restitutes US$1 300 to Fr Bruno on or before September 30.
Gwenzi will serve an effective nine months in jail.
Prosecuting Mr John Mutyakaviri said Gwenzi broke into Fr Bruno’s bedroom when the priest had gone for evening prayers on August 26.
“On the 26th of August at around 8pm, the accused proceeded to Don Bosco Technical College and unlawfully entered into the complainant’s room through an unlocked door. While inside he took US$1 500 which was in the complainant’s wardrobe drawer and went away,” said Mr Mutyakaviri.
The court was told that the money had been brought from Bulawayo on the same day and was meant for workers’ salaries and buying of building material at Don Bosco.
Fr Bruno discovered the theft when he wanted to use the money.
He reported the matter to the police who arrested Gwenzi after investigations and recovered US$200 only from him.
Gwenzi revealed to police that he had used the money to buy an iPhone, two other cellphones and clothes worth a combined US$400.
He said he took the remaining US$900 to Victoria Falls where he spent it with his girlfriend who stays there.
180.7 Million Kgs Of Tobacco So Far Sold Despite Covid-19 Scourge
New Ziana
At least 180.7 million kilograms of tobacco worth US$452.2 million have been sold so far at auction and contract floors in the country since the selling season opened on April 29 this year, statistics from the industry regulator show.
In an update on day 89 of sale, the Tobacco Industry and Marketing
Board said the volume of sales were 24.7 percent lower than 238 million kg of tobacco worth US$472.1 million sold in the same period last year.
The average price at auction and contract floors was US$2.50 per kg,
which is 26.13 percent higher than the US$1.98 of the 2019 marketing
season. The highest price stood at US$6.60 per kg while the lowest was
$0.10.
Rejected bales declined to 80 595 from 195 812 recorded in the same period last year.
This year, the tobacco selling season was conducted with minimised human traffic at auction floors to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus which is ravaging the world.
Tobacco farming is arguably one of the success stories of agriculture
in the post-land reform era as more blacks are growing the crop than
previously when it was a preserve of white people.
Production of the crop has been on the increase in the past few years,
with farmers selling a record 259 million kg last year, up from 253
million kg in 2018.
Last year, it generated US$747 million in exports mainly to China and Europe, according to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe data.
Traditionally, the opening of tobacco auction floors leads to improved foreign exchange inflows into the country, as buyers scramble to purchase the crop.
Beatrice Mtetwa Back At Work In Court
Paul Nyathi
Top lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa who last month was barred from representing journalist Hopewell Chinono and threatened with being deregistered appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court on Monday for troubled former wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Marry Mubaiwa.
Mtetwa who was not troubled by the courts told the court that Mubaiwa is currently very sick and undergoing a life saving treatment and could not make it to court.
According to Mtetwa, Mubaiwa was walking around with a catheter to drain some fluids from her swelling hands while in the process of Hong through therapy.
“The accused has not fully done her treatment and she is walking around with a catheter draining stuff from her hand,” she said.
Her sickness is alleged to have resulted from the injuries she sustained in the White City bombing in Bulawayo on the 23 July in 2018.
The case in which Mubaiwa is accused of assaulting her maid was postponed to the 30th of November.
She was also remanded to 30 November in another case in which she is being charged of having attempted murdering Chiwenga at a South African hospital.

Chiwenga Continues To Run The Wrong Ministry Unchecked
Paul Nyathi
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga who was recently appointed as the Minister of Health is continuing with his heavy involvement with the Ministry of Agriculture programmes raising concerns from the public who believe he has really not come to the fold with the Health Ministry.
Chiwenga has been very occupied with the new Presidential Inputs Programme, commonly known as Pfumvudza which attempts to promote conservation farming techniques.
The programme involves use of small plots on smallholder farms and applying the correct agronomic practices for higher returns.
While senior Health officers including nurses and doctors have been on a strike for nearly two months, Chiwenga has not appeared to be tackling the issue.
The Covid-19 scourge is also continuing to ravage the country with very little or no word at all from Chiwenga since his appointment.
The closest that Chiwenga was in attending to the Ministry of Health issues was when he was addressing farmers calling on nurses to return to work as the Covid-19 Pandemic needs their attention. He spoke without paying attention to the grievances presented by the health workers.
Chiwenga last week urged Ministers of State to work closely with officials of the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, farmer associations, political leadership, local leadership, stakeholders and the farming communities to ensure the targets set are met.
Small-scale farmers across all eight rural provinces have been given the target of 1,8 million tonnes of cereals and 360 000 tonnes of oil seeds in the forthcoming summer cropping season under Pfumvudza, the climate-proofed upgrade of the previous Presidential Inputs Programme.
This will not only produce almost 90 percent of the annual national food requirements and ensure that once the A1 and A2 farmers have built on that broad base, pushing Zimbabwe into surplus and ensuring industry has the required are materials and larger markets.
“I also expect weekly progress reports that will enable us to assess performance of each province and overall performance of the Pfumvudza Programme.
“I am happy to remind the Provincial Ministers of State that in the spirit of devolution, central Government will be assessing the performance progress of individual provincial economies in terms of overall GDP,” said VP Chiwenga.
He said Government was also going to re-introduce farmer competitions at ward, district and provincial levels to reward hardworking farmers.
“I therefore encourage you to take full advantage of this programme and to ensure that you do all you can to guarantee its success. You have to own the programme and take full responsibility. Extreme ownership matters,” he said.
Under the Pfumvudza concept, communal farmers will practice conservation agriculture for them to benefit under the Climate-Proofed Presidential Inputs Programme.
The concept, which will be applied to maize, traditional grains and oil seeds, will also commercialise smallholder agriculture.
Distribution of inputs for the Pfumvudza Programme has started with seed and fertilisers being delivered to GMB depots.
Farmers are expected to start collecting inputs this week.
Kaizer Chiefs To Fire Head Coach?
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly looking for a new coach with Ernst Middendorp’s future with the club becoming uncertain after failing to lift the league title.
The German tactician led Amakhosi to a second-place finish, but the club hierarchy was not happy with how they stumbled in the latter stages of the title after spending the majority of the season on top of the table, according to Soccer Laduma.
Chiefs had a twelve point-lead at some point and the inconsistency after returning from the coronavirus break saw the team picking two wins from eight games.
Gavin Hunt is the favourite to take over from Middendorp who still has a year left on his contract.
An official announcement is not likely until both the club and the coach have discussed the way forward.
Meanwhile, Hunt is unattached following the dissolving of Bidvest Wits at the end of the 2019/20 season.-Soccer 24
Defence Minister Issues Stern Warning To Those Who Tamper With Security Forces
By A Correspondent- Defence and War Veteran Affairs Minister, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, said the killing of two assailants who shot three soldiers in separate incidents in Chivhu over the weekend serves as a warning to criminals not to tamper with the country’s security forces.
Speaking after a Provincial Coordinating Committee extraordinary meeting in Mutare on Sunday, Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri said:
Because of the bravery of our soldiers and police, they were able to neutralise the assailants and kill the two.
This should serve as a warning to criminals who try to tamper with our security forces that they will be met with equal force.
Our soldiers and police are giving assurance to the nation that they will always protect our people and protect our territorial integrity.
We are pleased that our police and members of the ZNA, working on a tip-off from the public, managed to track down the assailants to near Gutu.
In trying to disarm the two, who were now armed with not only a pistol but also two of our rifles, another soldier was injured when they opened fire. We understand that he is in a stable condition.
Corporal Peter Zvirevo and Lance Corporal Mupanganyama were shot at a police post while enforcing lockdown regulations in Chivhu on Saturday and the assailants seized their service rifles and fled into the bush.
Lance Corporal Mupanganyama died on admission at Chivhu General Hospital, while Zvirevo suffered multiple injuries.
Corporal Chiunye was part of the army and police crack-team on an operation to arrest the two assailants when he was injured in a shootout with the duo that was eventually killed.
Corporal Zvirevo and Corporal Chiunye were transferred to Harare for further management and are currently admitted at West End Hospital in Harare.

Kaizer Chiefs Were In A Better Position To Win League Title Than Us:Sundowns Captain

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana believes their title rivals Kaizer Chiefs deserved the 2019/20 ABSA Premiership title more than they did.
Amakhosi led the race for most of the season and were at some point 13 points clear at the summit of the table but were beaten to the title by Sundowns in dramatic fashion on the last day of the season after drawing with Baroka while Pitso Mosimane’s charges beat Black Leopards to secure the title.
Kekana, who lifted the league trophy for the 7th time, insisted Chiefs deserved it.
“I call myself a lucky guy because I have so many beautiful memories. This is one trophy I will cherish for the rest of my life because to be honest, it hasn’t been easy. At some point we were 13 points behind Kaizer Chiefs, who played so well and really deserved the title more than we did,” he told SuperSport Tv after the game.
“At some point they were scoring none stop, we were chasing and trying to fight back. Its something we have to be proud of as players for the job well-done. It hasn’t been an easy season for us, considering the break, to come back from a 5-months break without pre-season , it has not been easy to be honest,” he added.-Soccer 24

Former Warriors defender Costa Nhamoinesu is reportedly in talks with Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters for a move, two months after leaving Czech giants Sparta Prague.

Traditional Leader “Refuses” To Be Used By Zanu PF To Intimidate Villagers

Zanu PF Working With Khupe, Mwonzora To Dismantle MDC Alliance Led Councils

Zanu PF Moves To Neutralize Social Media Platforms

Reduce Fats To Stay Healthy

Consuming a healthy diet throughout the life-course helps to prevent malnutrition in all its forms as well as a range of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and conditions.
However, increased production of processed foods, rapid urbanization and changing lifestyles have led to a shift in dietary patterns.
People are now consuming more foods high in energy, fats, free sugars and salt/sodium, and many people do not eat enough fruit, vegetables and other dietary fibre such as whole grains.
The exact make-up of a diversified, balanced and healthy diet will vary depending on individual characteristics (e.g. age, gender, lifestyle and degree of physical activity), cultural context, locally available foods and dietary customs.
However, the basic principles of what constitutes a healthy diet remain the same.
For adults
A healthy diet includes the following:
Fruit, vegetables, legumes (e.g. lentils and beans), nuts and whole grains (e.g. unprocessed maize, millet, oats, wheat and brown rice).
At least 400 g (i.e. five portions) of fruit and vegetables per day (2) , excluding potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava and other starchy roots.
Less than 10% of total energy intake from free sugars (2, 7) , which is equivalent to 50 g (or about 12 level teaspoons) for a person of healthy body weight consuming about 2000 calories per day, but ideally is less than 5% of total energy intake for additional health benefits (7) . Free sugars are all sugars added to foods or drinks by the manufacturer, cook or consumer, as well as sugars naturally present in honey, syrups, fruit juices and fruit juice concentrates.
Less than 30% of total energy intake from fats (1, 2, 3) . Unsaturated fats (found in fish, avocado and nuts, and in sunflower, soybean, canola and olive oils) are preferable to saturated fats (found in fatty meat, butter, palm and coconut oil, cream, cheese, ghee and lard) and trans-
fats of all kinds, including both industrially-produced trans- fats (found in baked and fried foods, and pre-packaged snacks and foods, such as frozen pizza, pies, cookies, biscuits, wafers, and cooking oils and spreads) and ruminant trans- fats (found in meat and dairy foods from ruminant animals, such as cows, sheep, goats and camels).
It is suggested that the intake of saturated fats be reduced to less than 10% of total energy intake and
trans- fats to less than 1% of total energy intake (5) . In particular, industrially-produced trans -fats are not part of a healthy diet and should be avoided (4, 6) .
Less than 5 g of salt (equivalent to about one teaspoon) per day (8).
Salt should be iodized.
For infants and young children
In the first 2 years of a child’s life, optimal nutrition fosters healthy growth and improves cognitive development. It also reduces the risk of becoming overweight or obese and developing NCDs later in life.
Advice on a healthy diet for infants and children is similar to that for adults, but the following elements are also important:
Infants should be breastfed exclusively during the first 6 months of life.
Infants should be breastfed continuously until 2 years of age and beyond.
From 6 months of age, breast milk should be complemented with a variety of adequate, safe and nutrient-dense foods. Salt and sugars should not be added to complementary foods.
Practical advice on maintaining a healthy diet
Fruit and vegetables
Eating at least 400 g, or five portions, of fruit and vegetables per day reduces the risk of NCDs (2) and helps to ensure an adequate daily intake of dietary fibre.
Fruit and vegetable intake can be improved by:
always including vegetables in meals;
eating fresh fruit and raw vegetables as snacks;
eating fresh fruit and vegetables that are in season; and
eating a variety of fruit and vegetables.
Fats
Reducing the amount of total fat intake to less than 30% of total energy intake helps to prevent unhealthy weight gain in the adult population (1, 2, 3) .
Also, the risk of developing NCDs is lowered by:
reducing saturated fats to less than 10% of total energy intake;
reducing trans -fats to less than 1% of total energy intake; and
replacing both saturated fats and
trans- fats with unsaturated fats (2, 3) – in particular, with polyunsaturated fats.
Fat intake, especially saturated fat and industrially-produced trans- fat intake, can be reduced by:
steaming or boiling instead of frying when cooking;
replacing butter, lard and ghee with oils rich in polyunsaturated fats, such as soybean, canola (rapeseed), corn, safflower and sunflower oils;
eating reduced-fat dairy foods and lean meats, or trimming visible fat from meat; and
limiting the consumption of baked and fried foods, and pre-packaged snacks and foods (e.g. doughnuts, cakes, pies, cookies, biscuits and wafers) that contain industrially-produced trans- fats.
Salt, sodium and potassium
Most people consume too much sodium through salt (corresponding to consuming an average of 9–12 g of salt per day) and not enough potassium (less than 3.5 g). High sodium intake and insufficient potassium intake contribute to high blood pressure, which in turn increases the risk of heart disease and stroke (8, 11) .
Reducing salt intake to the recommended level of less than 5 g per day could prevent 1.7 million deaths each year (12) .
People are often unaware of the amount of salt they consume. In many countries, most salt comes from processed foods (e.g. ready meals; processed meats such as bacon, ham and salami; cheese; and salty snacks) or from foods consumed frequently in large amounts (e.g. bread). Salt is also added to foods during cooking (e.g. bouillon, stock cubes, soy sauce and fish sauce) or at the point of consumption (e.g. table salt).
Salt intake can be reduced by:
limiting the amount of salt and high-sodium condiments (e.g. soy sauce, fish sauce and bouillon) when cooking and preparing foods;
not having salt or high-sodium sauces on the table;
limiting the consumption of salty snacks; and
choosing products with lower sodium content.
Some food manufacturers are reformulating recipes to reduce the sodium content of their products, and people should be encouraged to check nutrition labels to see how much sodium is in a product before purchasing or consuming it.
Potassium can mitigate the negative effects of elevated sodium consumption on blood pressure. Intake of potassium can be increased by consuming fresh fruit and vegetables.
Sugars
In both adults and children, the intake of free sugars should be reduced to less than 10% of total energy intake (2, 7) . A reduction to less than 5% of total energy intake would provide additional health benefits (7) .
Consuming free sugars increases the risk of dental caries (tooth decay).
Excess calories from foods and drinks high in free sugars also contribute to unhealthy weight gain, which can lead to overweight and obesity. Recent evidence also shows that free sugars influence blood pressure and serum lipids, and suggests that a reduction in free sugars intake reduces risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (13) .
Sugars intake can be reduced by:
limiting the consumption of foods and drinks containing high amounts of sugars, such as sugary snacks, candies and sugar-sweetened beverages (i.e. all types of beverages containing free sugars – these include carbonated or non‐carbonated soft drinks, fruit or vegetable juices and drinks, liquid and powder concentrates, flavoured water, energy and sports drinks, ready‐to‐drink tea, ready‐to‐drink coffee and flavoured milk drinks); and
eating fresh fruit and raw vegetables as snacks instead of sugary snacks.

Social Media Networks Are “Killing” Us – Zanu PF

“Mnangagwa, Zanu PF Apparatchiks Stealing State Resources At An Alarming Pace”

Farai Dziva|MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has accused Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa of running the country like a bottle store.
Hon Biti also took a swipe at Mr Mnangagwa and Zanu PF apparatchiks for stealing State resources at an alarming rate.
“The challenge of Zim is a leadership that runs the country like a bottle store Patronage extraction and primitive accumulation are the DNA of regime Everything is for sale. Everything has a price and in every transaction the pimp must get a cut.A Head of State should not pimp country…
Zim has huge coal deposits that extend from Gokwe all the way to Hwange Sinamatela. The granting of coal concessions in Hwange National Park is extremely crude&reflects that the grantee of those rights is not fit for the office he holds . He is an imposter #ZimbabaweanLivesMatter
Special Grants are only issued by one office in Zim . Under Emmerson we are are witnessing the primitive asset stripping of Zim from resources ,concessions and land,” argued Hon Biti.
Zanu Pf Creates Social Media Teams To Counter “Detractors”
By A Correspondent- The ruling ZANU PF party says it will create provincial social media teams to articulate and defend its policies and government programmes.
This was revealed by Politburo member Munyaradzi Machacha, during a Matabeleland North Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) meeting on Sunday.
He said:
We, therefore, should come up with provincial social media teams to articulate the party and Government policies.
While some people would be going to the farms while others work in industries, we should also have a cyber unit which will be involved in defending the party’s programmes on social media platforms.
Social media has become the new battlefield for control, but the opposition is using it to portray the country in bad light which is not the situation of the ground.
Machacha said the party’s social media teams will counter “lies” sent out on the platforms by the country’s detractors.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF already has a presence on social media platforms and critics have accused the party of using multiple “ghost” social media accounts to mislead the gullible.-statemedia
“Only A Court Order Can Stop MDC Alliance Replacements In Parliament”: ZEC
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said it will go ahead with replacing recalled MDC Alliance legislators with nominees from the judicially-created MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe unless a court order stops the process.
ZEC chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana said they will proceed with the process as prescribed by the Electoral Act.
Silaigwana said:
The Commission has no discretion as to whether the process should or should not commence. Once a notice is given and received by ZEC, as prescribed in section 39(3) of the Electoral Act, the process … must be carried out, lest ZEC is in breach of the law.
Silaigwana was responding to concerns raised by Zimbabwe Elections Support Network (ZESN) chairperson Andrew Makoni who had said ZEC must wait until ongoing court challenges against the replacements were finalised.
The Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance has already lodged an objection to the process, saying the MDC-T has no right to replace or even recall members elected under its name, banner and logo.
Khupe is expected to bounce back into Parliament as Leader of the Lower House even though she contested and lost in the 2018 presidential elections.-Newsday

“I Warned VP Chiwenga Against Supporting Unelectable Mnangagwa”: Zhuwao
By A Correspondent- The late former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe’s nephew, Patrick Zhuwao, said he once warned then Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander Constantino Chiwenga against supporting then Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s takeover bid, describing the latter as “unelectable”.
Zhuwao said he tried to convince Chiwenga that ZANU PF needed someone who was charismatic to win an election and ability to lead the country.
Speaking to South African media during a discussion to mark exactly one year since Mugabe’s death, the exiled former cabinet minister said:
I also remember trying to explain to General Chiwenga (now vice president) when he was trying to get me to support Emmerson Mnangagwa to be President.
I said to General Chiwenga, ‘no General, this man is unelectable. He does not have the capacity to deal with people, he does not have the intellect to be able to lead the country’.
The General said, ‘okay fine, we will see what we can do’ and they then recognised that Emmerson Mnangagwa was unelectable but because of their entitlement mantra, they decided that the elections are not necessary.
