“Mwonzora Lacks MDC DNA”

Douglas Mwonzora

Farai Dziva|Respected political analyst Dr Pedzisai Ruhanya has said Douglas Mwonzora does not have MDC DNA.”

Ruhanya believes Mwonzora and Morgen Komichi “are hopeless political turncoats.”

“Beyond the news media headlines that are fizzling away daily, get this right: Mwonzora, Komichi have no capacity to take control of MDC- especially Mwonzora.

Political parties have values, history and foundations. Mwonzora does not have MDC DNA,” argued Ruhanya.

“Mwonzora’s rag tag group failed to capture MDC Mash East provincial offices last night. MDC youths resisted the attempt and held on to their property. They have now camped at their offices and say all their offices nationally are under control.”

ZRP Cop Arrested For Forcing Self On Daughter

A 43-YEAR-OLD police officer has been arrested for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter on several occasions since she was 10-years-old.

The cop, a member of CID Gwanda who cannot be named to protect the identity of his victim was not asked to plead when he appeared before Gwanda magistrate, Mrs Nomagugu Sibanda facing a rape charge.

He was remanded out of custody to May 29 on $1 000 bail.
The police officer is alleged to have abused his daughter when her stepmother was not home.

Representing the accused person, Mr Bukhosi Ncube from Malinga and Mpofu Legal Practitioners tendered a bail consent form from the chief public prosecutor.

“Considering that this matter falls under the third schedule I sought permission from the chief public prosecutor which was granted for the court to have jurisdiction over the matter.

According to the consent the national public prosecution isn’t opposed to bail. May the accused be granted bail on the conditions started in the consent form,” he said.

Mrs Sibanda granted the accused person bail on condition that he resides at his given address and does not interfere with State witnesses.

Prosecuting, Miss Glenda Nare said the accused person allegedly started raping his 17-year-old daughter in 2012 while she was 10-years-old.

She said the accused person continued raping the complainant who will turn 18 years later this year until the matter came to light last week.

“Sometime in 2012 the complainant was asleep at home when she felt a heavy weight on top of her. She woke up and realised that it was her father. She tried to scream but he threatened to beat her up and went on to rape her,” she said.

“Sometime in 2014 while the complainant was staying with her father in Beitbridge he raped her several times while her step mother was not around and he warned her against reporting the matter.

Sometime in 2016 they relocated to Lupane where he raped her several times.”

Miss Nare said they later relocated to Gwanda where the accused person continued raping the complainant.

She said the last incident occurred on April 29 when the accused person called the complainant into his bedroom and raped her.-State media

Namibia Stands With Chamisa | FULL TEXT

MDC ALLIANCE NAMIBIA IS NOT SHAKEN BY THE DESPERATE AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL RECALL OF ITS MPS BY THE ZANUPF SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT.

As Mdc Alliance Namibia district, we are not perturbed by the desperate and unconstitutional recall of our Mdc Alliance Mps.

We are Social Democrats nurtured and groamed by the Icon of democracy Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai as a result we resolutely remain behind our diligent Mps in the names of our Secretary General Charlton Hwende, Chairperson Thabitha Khumalo, Chief Whip Prosper Mutseyami and Senator Lillian Timveos. We pledge to give our undoubted solidarity to our gallant Social Transformers who are being tortured and persecuted by the politically inept regime.

Mdc Alliance Namibia district would like to make it categorically clear that President Advocate Nelson Chamisa and his vibrant legislators, party leadership and membership are the panacea to Socio-economic transformation. Zanupf captured courts can not impose their allies as our leaders. Thokozani Khupe fell off the rail of the National Democratic Revolution when she tried in vain to fight the Politics of the Big Tent, a brainchild of the late MdcT President Morgan Tsvangirai.

Furthermore, Thokozani Khupe fought the late President Morgan Tsvangirai till his death, they never reconciled until he died on the 14th of February 2018,May his soul rest in power. Being in the trenches for the past the past two decades fighting against Zanupf Thugocracy is not a minute struggle. We lost a lot of Heroes and Heroines, some butchered and others maimed by these Stomach politicians of rhetoric and self-aggrandisement.

Mwonzora and Komichi must remember that our pillar and source of inspiration is Morgan Richard Tsvangirai who left Advocate Nelson Chamisa with us to complete the National Democratic Revolution practising politics of the BIG TENT, individual glory and personal pursuits are not part of our core values as Social Democrats. Khupe and her cronies are Zanupf puppets. Our leader is Wamba dia Wamba. Simple!

Malaria Wrecks Havoc In Mutoko

By A Correspondent- Mutoko District is facing a double tragedy as the 2020 Malaria season has coincided with the period where Zimbabwe as the rest of the World is grappling with the fight of Covid-19 pandemic.

In a meeting with the Mutoko District Health Executive (DHE), it was revealed that respraying of hotspots was set to be rolled out this week.

Acting District Medical Officer (A/DMO) Dr Prince Mangwiro said volunteers were on the ground mobilizing to start respraying in the areas that had presented as Malaria hotspots for the District.

He said:

“We are embarking on this exercise as a mitigatory measure in light of the increase in cases this Malaria Season. This season has seen a sharp rise to 14806 from 4756 in 2018 and 5817 in 2019 respectively.

People have been doing a lot of outdoor activities such as market gardening as a source of livelihood. 12 deaths have also been recorded this 2020 hence the fight to recline the sharp curve.

Some of these deaths come from religious objectors who refuse treatment as well as obstruct treatment for their church members.

District Environmental Health Officer (DEHO) Chapata Madakudya, reported the district to have set out for the Malaria season with mobilisations and sensitization of the community for the Indoor Residual Spray (IRS).

As per IRS culture, there is a chemical rotation for each malaria season to ensure that the Anopheles does not grow resistant to the chemical hence the use of Fludora Fusion and OPs last season and DDT and OPs for the respraying, he said.

In light of the current increase in Malaria infections, the District has also conducted investigations to assess if the chemical on the walls is still effective.

Said Madakudya:

Results obtained this week showed that the chemical sprayed during IRS is still on the walls and has 100 % mortality. Further to this, we are currently conducting a susceptibility test to investigate if the mosquito has not grown to be resistant to the sprayed chemical of which results are to be expected in two weeks time.

In preparation of the respraying, Madakudya said they will be strict observance of COVID-19 prevention guidelines for the teams right from transportation to the camps to ensure physical distance is maintained.

Nineteen wards surrounding health facilities like Katsukunya, Kapondoro, Mushimbo, Kushinga and Nyamuzuwe among others are set to be sprayed.-StateMedia

“Beware Of Used Masks On The Market”: Govt

By A Correspondent- The Ministry of Health and Child Care has warned members of the public of unscrupulous individuals who are collecting used face masks, washing, and then selling them.

The practice is dangerous as it undermines efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus.

Posting on their Twitter account, the Ministry of Health and Child Care called on people to cut up their masks whenever they wish to dispose of them.

The Ministry said:

There are some people who are collecting used face masks, washing them and selling them to unsuspecting people. To avoid this, members of the public are being urged to cut up their used face masks before proper disposal.

Burning is another option that you can use.

According to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) guidelines used gloves and face mask should be washed with water and soap for 20 seconds, and then be cut into small parts to prevent re-use.

Knowledge Musona Transfer Listed

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona has reportedly been put on the transfer-list by Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany.

Musona, 29, has only made one reserve team appearance for the Belgian giants this season before being offloaded on loan this January to KAS Eupen.

The striker netted two goals in six matches for his new club before the Belgian top-flight league was forced to a sudden halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic and saw Club Brugge being declared 2019/20 league champions.

Kompany’s homecoming did not go according to script, with a mid-table finish and the Manchester City legend is said to have confirmed a list of players who are surplus to requirements

Belgian news outlet Voetbal24 stated that after consultation with the technical staff the Zimbabwean captain, Kenny Saief, Antonio Milic, Kristal Abazaj, Aristote Nakaka, Adrien Trebel and Ognjen Vranjes have been told their services will not be needed and should find new clubs.

It marks another frustrating year for the ‘smiling assassin’ who was one of the leading performer in the Belgian top-flight during his stint at Oostende between 2015 and 2018.

Musona predominantly featured as an inside-forward and winger scoring 41 goals and registering 18 assists in 112 games. In contrast, his last two seasons have only yielded just four goals in 17 matches across all competitions.

“We Reiterate That Mnangagwa Is Illegitimate,” MDC Speaks On Recall Of MPs

Today, the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, purported to recall Kuwadzana East MP Chalton Hwende, Chikanga-Dangamvura MP Prosper Mutseyami, Bulawayo East MP Thabitha Khumalo and Senator Lilian Timveos from Parliament under the unlawful instruction of Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora.

We stand in full solidarity with our Members of Parliament following this unlawful, corrupt act by the Speaker.

We remain a united, unshaken entity under the able leadership of President Nelson Chamisa who was elected constitutionally at the last MDC Alliance congress.

We are aware that the purported recall is the latest of a series of desperate, predatory acts by Emmerson Mnangagwa to attempt to whitewash his legitimacy crisis following the flawed 2018 election. We reiterate that Mnangagwa is illegitimate.

It is a matter of regret that the authoritarian regime of ED Mnangagwa continues to capture state institutions including Parliament and the Judiciary to pursue his agenda of trying to destroy the MDC Alliance. The People’s Project can’t be destroyed. The people will defend it.

The regime has declared war on us. We gave dialogue a chance but Mnangagwa refused to take the olive branch. We will constitutionally exercise our right to safeguard our Movement and Nelson Chamisa. There’s no struggle without scars. We will not rest until Zimbabwe is free

Dearest Friends.

My involvement in the politics of my country has never been or was never motivated by what I would benefit out of it as it has no benefits at all. It is a calling motivated by my genuine belief that my country needs a new generation of leaders to pluck our country from the poverty it has endured for so long and the democratic deficit we have as a nation.

Being a Member of Parliament is one of those responsibilities that came along the way as a task demanded by people from me. I have never had much appetite to be one because I know it confines oneself in the corner of serving self interest and delusion of grandeur and forget the broader objective of the struggle.

Our people have for a long time endured intolerable rule anchored on tyranny and dictatorship. Along the way we became enemies of ourselves by concentrating more on issues against ourselves. The elephant in the room is the ZANU PF system that has destroyed our nation into a Stone Age society. The enemy is ZANU PF and Emmerson Mnangagwa who have taken upon themselves to do what they want with our lives. The future of one generation after the other has been destroyed by these heartless evil men and women who are presiding over our destruction. We forget all that and wondered what interests do we serve if we master all our energy in destroying one another.

My simple advice to the people of Zimbabwe is that lets focus on dealing with the Mnangagwa regime decisively. They have created a problem to de focus some of us’ resolve to deal with their penury and crimes against our civilization. Our nation is crying for the leadership that is determined to bring to an the madness that has been brought upon us in our country by the persecutors of our peace, future and happiness.

There is no way Mnangagwa and ZANU PF can fool themselves that they have derailed the people’s struggle by their innocuous antics before us today. Let me reassure you, the struggle we are in belongs to the people and it is for the people to see their freedom in their life time. This they shall achieve. There is no way some of us will relent to achieve the cause of our people by regressing from coming for you. This is a calling we are committed to accomplish. Let those who are in the hunt for positions continue to do so. The value of an individual in a struggle is not determined by how powerful the position one holds in an organization but by the character of that individual. Commitment to the struggle is not seen by the number of words one utter, but by action you take to correct the wrong. The true struggle of our people is now being correctly shaped. Freedom is not won by the buildings one occupy or by the position someone hold. Fight for positions and control while we are fighting for the liberation of our people. Position seekers in politics have the history of destroying the aspirations of the people. This time it wont work and it will not work. Let me conclude by very important message and words by one of our pioneers of of our liberation struggle Ndabaning Sithole. He had this to say on May 24 1964 in Gwelo at Mkoba Hall:

” Those who believe that the United Nations
Will bring us independence are greatly mistaken.
No one can liberate another.
Independence is not ours unless we liberate ourselves.
There is no such thing as being liberated by others .
Others can only help us to liberate ourselves.
We are our own Liberators .
What method then is our strategy we are going to use in liberating this country?
This is the only true solution to the present problem.
We have power in our hands.
You will be detained.
You will be torn away from your families.
In some cases , some of us may be shot dead.
But this is the price all human beings must pay to be free.” President Ndabaningi Sithole
[ 24 May 1964]

We are our own Liberators.

The nonsense of Parliament this or that will not bring us true independence and freedom. No freedom was ever obtained by occupying a Parliamentary position in the history of mankind. In revolutions Parliament is rather seen as the centre of counter revolutionary. It gives individuals a false sense of importance in communities they live. Some think its a profession or some form of employment opportunity. Let me be recalled tomorrow as what has happened to my friends and colleagues and be freed to pursue the goal of liberation. Be warned I am no coward. Rather I am very dangerous and prepared to demonstrate how dangerous I am.

I am ready.

By Discent Bajila |ANALYSIS | What must be understood is that Khumalo, Hwende and Mutseyami weren’t randomly picked. It was a careful decision which will be followed up by more actions over the next 7 to 14 days.

Thabitha Khumalo is Proportional Representative for Bulawayo and Leader Of Opposition in the National Assembly. Mwonzora is aware of the depth of internal debate around her continued occupation of that position in the National Assembly. The assumption is that there are party members who will be happy to see her removed.

Over the next few days, MDC MPs will be approached with lots of money and offered the “vacant” leader of the Opposition Post. It will be interesting to hear who will be approached and what offers will be made.

However, this will all be in vain because the Grand ED Plan is to replace Khumalo with Khuphe. Once Khuphe is leader of opposition, inclusive government talks will be instituted.

Mutseyami is MDC Chief Whip. Over the next few days several MDC MPs will be offered this position with heavy perks on the side. Again, we will know the amounts and forms of perks on offer for an MP who accepts this position.

There’s a very high likelihood that those who decline this offer will be threatened with a recall. Unless a classic court action is launched, more recalls are coming and as long Mudenda remains Speaker of Parliament, no letter from anyone other than Mwonzora will be considered in the House.

Hwende is being targeted, first to humiliate him for the humiliation of Mwonzora at the May 2019 Congress, secondly for keeping Haràre province as a part of the battlefronts together with Bulawayo and Manicaland. Thirdly, all this is happening because ED wants to talk to Nelson Chamisa. It is anticipated that an under pressure Hwende will influence Chamisa into talking.

Mnangagwa Now A Demi God, Speak No Evil About Him, Duo Arrested For Sharing His Old Video On WhatsApp

ZIMBABWEAN authorities on Sunday 3 May 2020 arrested two men in
Rushinga in Mashonaland Central province and charged them with
undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa
after they allegedly shared and made remarks on a video clip in which
the ZANU PF party leader brags about the strength of bond notes, the
country’s surrogate currency.

43 year-old Robert Zakeyo and 34 year-old Admire Mupemhi on Monday 4
May 2020 appeared before Bindura Magistrate Mary Msika after they were
arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police members and charged with
undermining authority of or undermining President Mnangagwa in
contravention of section 33(2)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification
and Reform) Act.

Prosecutors accused Zakeyo and Mupemhi, who were represented by Gift
Mtisi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, of sharing a video clip
onto a Rushinga Residents WhatsApp group on Friday 1 May 2020 showing
President Mnangagwa claiming that the country’s currency is the
strongest in the southern African region.

In the video clip, President Mnangagwa is quoted remarking that; “In
this region, in SADC, the RTG, our RTG, the current currency is the
strongest currency in the region,” while Mupemhi reportedly wrote the
word “frog” in response to the shared video clip.

The video clip, prosecutors claimed, also features Gogo Tsvangirai,
mother to the late former Prime Minister and opposition MDC party
leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

Mupemhi was set free after Mtisi filed an application for refusal of
remand arguing that the charges preferred against his client do not
disclose the commission of an offence to which Magistrate Msika agreed
with the human rights lawyer.

Zakeyo was released on $300 bail and was ordered to report at his
local police once in a fortnight and to continue residing at his given
residential address. He returns to court on 18 May 2020, where his
trial is scheduled to commence.

“I Permit God To Manage The Issue,” Catholic Priest At Centre Of Saga On Woman Who Died In The Act Responds.

The Catholic Priest at the focal point of a homicide examination including a wedded female Church part has stood up saying he feels unjustifiably treated by the Church.

Police in Lusaka says they have initiated an investigation into the passing of a 42-year-elderly person of Garden House, who purportedly kicked the bucket in the Parish Priest’s House at Kaunda Square Catholic Church.

Fr. Abel Mwelwa said in an explanation that the way where Lusaka Diocese Archbishop Alec Banda has taken care of the issue is uncalled for.

“I might want to guarantee you that everything is great. My spirit is very still. Realizing that the equity of God is my ally. I have no harshness against the way where this was taken care of. I permit God to manage the issue,” Dr. Mwelwa said.

He additionally guaranteed that Monica Mulenga passed on in the medical clinic of Acute Pneumonia as the posthumous outcomes showed.

“God has his ways. Much obliged to you for your fellowship and backing. Leave it alone realized that the individual kicked the bucket just about a month prior,” he said.

He included, “Everything hushed up until my Bishop chose to train a few ministers to flow a dispatch of my suspension to all clerics and strict. The dispatch is likewise routed to the lay dedicated. What a method for managing matters.”

Fr. Mwelwa charged that Bishop Banda misinterpreted in the manner he managed the issue.

“The consequence of such a misjudged choice is the thing that has brought this media free for all. Has there been a period in the Catholic Church when the suspension of a cleric is material for everybody? If not, the inquiry is the reason has this been taken care of along these lines? Perhaps we will have replies in Heaven,’ he said.

“I figured I should impart to you what has occurred. God’s Justice May take long, however it definitely comes.”

“Give Us A Chance To Deal With The Coronavirus,” ZINATHA

THE Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association (Zinatha) has sensationally claimed that it has herbs that can treat coronavirus (Covid-19) , calling on the government to include its members in rapid response teams.

This comes amid reports that a concoction known as Covid Organics (CVO), a form of herbal tea, is curing Covid-19 patients in Madagascar.

Zinatha secretary for education Prince Sibanda told the Daily News that Madagascar’s herbal tea is evidence that there is need to develop indigenous knowledge of medicine rather than rely on Western ideas all the time.

“In Zimbabwe we do have herbs such as Murumanyama or Muremberembe (Shona) and isihaqa (Ndebele) that can be effective in treating coronavirus.

“We are rich with over 5 000 herbs in Zimbabwe. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has proved that 80 percent of Africa relies on herbal medicine. Why not promote the 80 percent rather than wait for the West to have a say?” Sibanda asked.

He said traditional medicine needs support to develop as it is being sidelined in the country.

“Let’s integrate the two systems of health delivery so that we are safe rather than concentrate on one side. Zinatha should be incorporated into rapid response and research teams to have an impact in containing this coronavirus pandemic.

“We have to work together in a strong, effective, united and coordinated response. To this end, our efforts to accelerate the response to the Covid-19 pandemic and prevent its re-emergence needs the use of indigenous medicines that have been in existence for a long time,” he added.

Meanwhile, WHO has dismissed Madagascar president Andry Rajoelina’s claims that the herbal tea produced in his country can cure patients of Covid-19.

In a recent statement, the international health body warned against any self-medication and said it has not yet recommended any medicine as a cure for Covid-19.

Despite WHO’s warning, scores of people have reportedly embraced the herbal tea in Madagascar and some African countries such as Tanzania, Guinea Bissau and the Democratic Republic of Congo have shown interest in the concoction.

Troubled Iran Takes Notes From Gideon Gono Slashes Four Zeros On Its Currency

A redenomination of the currency won’t make Tehran’s economic woes go away.

Besieged by runaway prices and food shortages, primarily as a result of the sanctions imposed by the United States, Iranian lawmakers have decided to give the Islamic republic’s currency a new lease of life – or so it seems.

The Iranian parliament has agreed to cross four zeros out from the banknotes, making it easier for people to transact without wasting time calculating the price of eggs or chicken, which can run into tens of thousands of rials.

Over the next two to five years, Iranian rials will be taken out of circulation and replaced with the toman – one toman will be equal to 10,000 rials.

“It will have more of a psychological impact as instead of paying 250,000 rials for a packet of eggs, you’ll pay just 25 tomans,” an Iran-based journalist told TRT World

A cosmetic change?

High inflation, a years-long headache for Iranians, has eroded the value of the rial. It costs more than 150,000 rials to buy one US dollar in the open market while the official exchange rate is pegged at 42,000 rials to one US dollar.

Iranians have long abandoned calculating prices in rials in their everyday affairs. Instead, a customer or trader might use the rial as a currency but quote prices in tomans with one toman equal to 10 rials at the moment.

Although confusing to an outsider, the system helps locals to avoid calculations in the millions and billions.

“In any case, people generally use debit cards or what we call traveller’s cheques to make payments in most cases,” the journalist said.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has further discouraged the use of cash as people avoid handling banknotes.

The Iranian government had been considering replacing currency notes, something known as a redenomination, since 2016.

The replacement of the currency notes won’t have a significant impact on Iran’s inflation rate of 40 percent, which is the result of US-led economic isolation and a sharp drop in the price of oil. Iran derives most of its export revenue from oil and gas sales.

A currency’s value depends on a host of factors including the monetary policy, balance of trade and investor perception.

With the Islamic republic embroiled in regional conflicts that stretch from Yemen to Syria, and the European Union (EU) struggling to make good on its promise to circumvent US sanctions on trade, Tehran is likely to continue wading through economic troubles in the near term.

Knocking off zeros from the currency is especially cosmetic in the face of high employment and difficulties that businesses and households face in finding imported goods like medicines.

For governments, it can be a matter of image – let’s face it, a banknote with many so many zeros doesn’t reflect well on the value of the currency and consequently on the country.

Not the first time

In the last few decades, a number of countries have reverted to redenomination to fight runaway inflation without any significant impact on the overall economic situation – except for a few exceptions.

Zimbabwe is a classic case of what happens when the government lops off zeroes from banknotes without addressing underlying economic issues.

In 2009, the country struck off 12 zeros from the Zimbabwean dollar after a bout of hyperinflation that hit 79 billion percent with prices doubling every 24 hours. The highest denomination note was 100 trillion Zimbabwean dollars – and that wasn’t enough to buy a loaf of bread.

Harare’s economic woes persist as the inflation rate remains higher than 670 percent.

Argentina, Brazil and Nigeria are among others who have resorted to redenomination largely in the wake of runaway inflation.

After years of struggling with high inflation, Turkey removed zeros from the lira notes in 2005 but that move followed aggressive economic and social reforms.

After facing a financial crisis in the early 2000s, Ankara liberalised the market, privatised loss-making state-run companies, and removed capital controls, making it easier for foreign investment to come in.

It fixed the banking system and improved ties with its European neighbours and brought inflation down to a 30-year low.

All of this made it easier for then prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to strike off zeros from banknotes.

“We are very happy to have rid Turkey of such a shame, of multi-zeroed banknotes,” Erdogan said at the time. “We are happy to reinstate the dignity of the Turkish lira.”

“I Tried To Advise Her, But She Couldn’t Change,” Husband To Woman Who Died In Roman Catholic Church Priests Bedroom Speaks.

Husband to the late Zambian Roman Catholic Church Senior woman who died while in an act with a church Priest has emotionally spoken out.

The husband Owen Mulenga identified his late wife as Monicah Mutale Mulenga has died at the age of 42, having being born on February 2, 1978.

According to Mulenga, he knew of his wife’s affair with Father Abel Mwelwa of St Maurice Catholic Church in Lusaka as they have been seeing each other for more than a year.

“My late wife has been going out with Fr. Mwelwa for more than year and I just discovered on 19th November 2019 when I found disturbing WhatsApp messages in her phone from the named Priest,” said Mulenga.

In his remarks the husband continued that he tried asking her of the alleged affair with the priest at first she admitted to have been seeing the Man of God but later change her statement after she forcefully grabbed her phone from her husband and threw it in a pot of boiling water.

“The phone was damaged beyond repair,” Complained Mulenga.

He added: “We nearly divorced but we were counseled and reconciled. From that time she stopped communicating with the Priest but after a month, their relationship was rekindled.”

When Mulenga learnt that his wife is continuing seeing the priest he tried to advise her but she could not listen as a result she had less respect to her husband.

“She would lie to me of going for church meetings yet she would be in some lodges or at the parish with the Priest. I tried to advise her, but she couldn’t change and kept on saying that I was just accusing her because I didn’t want her to attend church activities,” added Mulenga.

Mulenga openly said that he resorted of taking the matter to court and seek for a divorce “but before I could do that I had to inform all the necessary church authorities as it is difficult to divorce in Catholic.

On the day Monicah met her fate, she had excused herself from her husband that she was going out with other women for a church Women League meeting.

According to Mulenga his wife had a record of terrible pneumonia in which he believes she died from it when she was doing ‘it’ with the Priest.

Mulenga confesses; “It’s like the Priest kept doing the work despite her telling him to stop when she was under attack, take note, this also used to happen to me as I made love to her but since I loved and understood her, I could control myself and stop, But it’s like the Priest was doing it in hurry so he didn’t mind her plea leading to her untimely death.”

After Monicah died, the Priest called some women, Mulenga and the police who took the wife to the hospital and was confirmed dead due to terrible Acute Pneumonia she suffered as the priest was on top of her making love.

“At first the priest accepted responsibility and paid K50,000 for her funeral. He told us he would pay us K150, 000 compensation but we refused and reported the matter to the high church authorities who investigated the matter and found him guilty hence his recent suspension,” said Mulenga.

Mulenga also alleged that by the time the Priest was being suspended from church activities he (Priest) had already bribed police officers who collected the body of his wife.

“But brothers and sisters, the truth is that the priest may in his earthly knowledge and wisdom win the case in court of law but he will definitely not win the Heavenly justice. I rest my case. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace My Lovely and Only Wife Monica,” cries Mulenga.

Jacob Mudenda, Recalling MDC Alliance MPs is Madness

Dear Speaker of Parliament,

If there is any truth in the story that you have ordered MDC Alliance members of Parliament out of Parliament at the request of the MDC-T Party, that is very unfortunate. Your argument as announced that you did so because the MDC-T party wrote to you to notify you that hon. C Hwende, member of parliament of Kuwadzana Constituency, Hon T Khumalo, Proportional Rep Of Bulawayo Province, Hon, T Mutseyami, MP of Chikanga Dangamvura Constituency have ceased to be members of the MDC-T party and therefore no longer represent the interest of the party is irrelevant as these parliamentarians are in Parliament on the MDC Alliance ticket.

You are but helping tarnish the image of Zimbabwe through such biased decisions. Your Parliament registers show that there are parliamentarians from Zanu PF, MDC Alliance and MDC-T, but you chose to accept a withdrawal letter for MDC Alliance members of Parliament and announce that you are withdrawing MDC-T parliamentarians – shame on you.

Mudenda Joins Malaba In Making Another COVID-19 Ruling On Chamisa

By A Correspondent| Parliament this afternoon defied the Lockdown rules set by Emmerson Mnangagwa to sit for less than 5 minutes in order to effect another blow to Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

Speaker of parliament Jacob Mudenda announced that 4 MDC Alliance legislators had been recalled from parliament by Dr Thokozani Khupe and her team.

Biti however accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of being the invisible hand oiling Khupe, Senators Douglas Mwonzora and Morgen Komichi to destroy the MDC led by Chamisa using the Supreme Court ruling that nullified the latter’s presidency.

The ruling that proclaimed the acting presidency role of Khupe in the MDC T was also announced during the Lockdown.

The Supreme Court which had been sitting on the judgement indefinitely made a surprise announcement that the ruling would be delivered despite that the courts were closed and not functioning following ED’s Lockdown directive.

Mnangagwa Frees Former Chaplin High School Boy Jailed For Murder 22 Years Ago

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has finally freed one Joram Siwela, a former Chaplin High School student and professional football player, who was jailed for murder 22 years ago.

Siwela is part of the lot that tasted freedom on Tuesday after Mnangagwa used the Presidential emergency powers to decongest prisons.

Siwela story tells that he killed his friend after he got into a fight over a girl, resulting in him brutally stabbing and killing his schoolmate.

In 2019, he told journalists that almost every night for the past 21 years, he has had to be woken up by his cellmates who say he throws punches, screams, and argues with unseen forces in his sleep.

“When my father visited me sometime in 1999, I tried to raise the issue with him but he said you are still too young, you will not understand this. I had just turned 20 then,” Siwela said.

Reporters also said according to Siwela’s father Sahluko, that door has since been  closed. This is because another tragedy hit the family of Siwela’s victim a few months after his incarceration.

“Barely three months after Joram’s incident, a lot happened in the victim’s family, thereby complicating everything. The victim’s father and sibling were also murdered. Another uncle, whom they lived with, vanished without a trace. Since then, we have failed to locate any other relatives. “I feel that knowing all this will be too much of a burden for Joram, which is why I have never been able to tell him,” said Sahluko.

“It was a Wednesday afternoon. I felt dizzy and asked the judge to allow me to sit down as my sentence was being read. I feared a death penalty.I was sweating profusely, my knees shaking and as they announced my sentence, I felt the world crumbling around me.”

Today, ZBC posted a picture of the man uniting with his family…ready to find his feet in a world that has evolved from the one he knew when the gates of freedom were shut on his face 22 years ago.

Se*ual Exploitation at Quarantine Centres In Zimbabwe | FULL TEXT

To: The Minister of Health and Child Care
Cc: Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare
Cc: Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises
Cc: Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation
Cc: Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing

04 May 2020

  1. Matabeleland Institute for Human Rights (MIHR) recognizes the various efforts made by the Government of Zimbabwe in responding to the Covid19 threat in the country and especially designating special places as quarantine centers.
  2. As an organization which exists to enhance the protection and promotion of human rights for vulnerable people and communities, MIHR writes this open appeal calling for the immediate enactment of strict sexual exploitation and abuse protection mechanisms and reporting protocols in all the quarantine centers nationwide. Our concerns which leads to us making this passionate please are the increasing number of diaspora returnees set to arrive in the country from various countries (including the nearly 3000 from South Africa, among others) and that:
    a) These returnees will include women, children and youths and will be in quarantine centers for 14 days and therefore it is incumbent for the state to protect them from sexual exploitation and abuse. Critically for children, the state is mandated by Section 19 and 81 of the Constitution to ensure that ‘when removed from their family environment, they are protected from maltreatment, neglect or any form of abuse’;
    b) These returnees some of them have been out of employment and income for the past 6-8 weeks and they will be coming back without all their belongings and thus they may find themselves desperate for a plethora of human needs and this exposes them to sexual exploitation and abuse;
    c) Due to the harsh economic environment facing the country and the inadequate services and commodities, the returnees find themselves exposed to sexual exploitation and abuse in order to receive better services and supplies from aid workers;
  3. Our plea to the government therefore, is that in line with human rights principles and international humanitarian standards as espoused by World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations (UN):
    I. The government set up sexual exploitation and abuse measures and reporting protocols in all Covid19 quarantine centers, and these be handed as written text to every person admitted in the quarantine center and also be posted in the rooms in the center.
II. These measures and protocols should not only cover the citizens admitted at quarantine centers but also be there to protect volunteers and aid workers working as frontline workers in the centers as they also find themselves open to sexual exploitation and abuse from their senior supervisors.
III. The Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Protection mechanisms and protocols adopted be issued publicly as a Statutory Instrument for everyone to know of them.
IV. The government forge partnerships with counselling nongovernmental organizations who will enable the enforcement and monitoring of these measures and protocols.
  4. Our plea is not motivated by any specific case of sexual exploitation and abuse noted or reported in any quarantine center but:
    i. Is guided by the need to protect rights violations from happening because we note that where human beings are and where power relations and resources sharing is involved, human rights violations (especially of sexual abuse and exploitation nature) are always rampant;
ii. Is motivated by the international best practices and standards regarding humanitarian aid and specifically the “Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse During Covid19 Response” Interim Technical Note released by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee endorsed by international organizations such as WHO, UNPFA, UNICEF, UNHCR, WFP, IOM, OCHA, among others.
iii. Is inspired by the words of President Emmerson Mnangagwa while addressing the Nation on 01 May 2020 and spelling out Covid19 management measures and specifically reiterating that “we better err on the side of caution than recklessness” and we thus plead that let’s err on the side of caution by enacting these measures and protocols that protect sexual exploitation and abuse in quarantine centers.

Looking forward to your favorable response as we seek to contain the Covid19 pandemic in Zimbabwe.

Yours Sincerely

Benedict Sibasa
MIHR General Secretary

ZIFA Speaks On Commencement Of PSL Season

Zifa has announced that the upcoming Premier Soccer League is likely to start in September due to the cornavirus.

The country has been under lockdown since mid-March and the restrictions were partially relaxed over the weekend but any chance of seeing the commencement of the campaign remains bleak for now.

In a statement Zifa said: “It has come to ZIFA’s attention that there is confusion within the football family emanating from relaxation of lock-down conditions by the government to level 2.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) would like to advise all football stakeholders that football activities remain suspended until further notice…

“In its meeting on the 3 May 2020, the ZIFA Emergency Committee also noted that other football associations were planning to resume football operations around August/September 2020 and has tentatively set this date as to when our leagues will commence should our government announce the complete end of the lock-down any day before the envisaged dates. The resumption of football activities will also be done in consultation with CAF and FIFA.

” For ZIFA, should the season begin in September, that will see us also aligning our football calendar with the rest of the world.”-Soccer 24

Mnangagwa Desperate To Annihilate “People’s Struggle” During Lockdown

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

The illegal recall of our MDC Alliance MPs Chairperson Thabita Khumalo, SG Hon Chalton Hwende , Hon Prosper Mutseyami & from Parliament is reflective of how paranoid and desperate Emmerson is in using the State to destroy our movement led by President Nelson Chamisa.

We are MDC Alliance nothing else.

Throughout history authoritarian regimes and their enablers have tried to hijack and crush people’s s causes. We saw this in the fight against decolonization.

Emmerson is not the first. The thing is the struggle for freedom and emancipation can never be smoldered by force or chicanery.

We have never been cowards . We have never yielded on matters of principle . We have been in the trenches for decades.

We shall finish off what we started in 1999. So Mr Mnangagwa, nothing you will do will make us retreat or surrender.

Not your guns , not your Parliament…

Lusaka Archbishop Alick Banda has suspended Father Ringford Kalaswamilomo Abel Mwelwa as Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of Lusaka.

In a memo dated 30th April, 2020, Archbishop Banda stated that Fr. Mwelwa had also ceased being Parish Priest of Kaunda Square Parish.

According to Bishop Banda, Father Mwelwa has been suspended with immediate effect.

“I hereby wish to inform you that I have with immediate effect suspended the Very Rev. Ringford Abel Mwelwa from the priesthood indefinitely. With this suspension he ceases to be Parish Priest for Kaunda Square Parish as well as Judicial Vicar of the Archbishop of Lusaka,” read the two-paragraphed memo dated 30th April 2020.

According to her fellow women from the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), the woman was invited to Father Mwelwa’s Parish House on Holy Thursday night.

“She was a married woman from St. Maurice and she lied to her husband that she was going for a funeral with her fellow league members in Kaunda Square. Sadly she died in Abel’s room in the Parish House that night – on Holy Thursday,” said the source.

The source said Father Mwelwa called some CWL members from St. Maurice who came to pick up the body and took it to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital where she was confirmed dead on arrival and taken to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary as brought in dead (BID).

The source said the Archbishop of Lusaka was made to pay for the funeral expenses by the family of the deceased woman.

Police are waiting for postmortem results to determine what led to her death.

But people close to the case have disclosed that Fr Mwelwa has been suspended for a serious case of adultery and to pave way for suspected murder case investigations.

The woman identified as a member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) is married woman from St Maurice Parish situated on Mumbwa road and took permission from her husband to attend a funeral with her fellow League members in Kaunda Square.

During her stay at the Parish House, she died in Fr. Mwelwa room.

The church paid for the whole funeral.

The family has urged the Police to investigate the suspicious death.

Other family sources indicate that Fr Mwelwa administered some substances to the deceased in an attempt a pregnancy she was carrying after which complications arose.

I Wanted To Bring English Premier Soccer League Action To Zimbabwe Before Stadium Ban- Chiwenga

FIFA licensed match agent Ellen Chiwenga claims she was working on bringing the English Premier League teams to Zimbabwe when CAF banned the country’s stadiums from hosting international games.

The continental body said the venues were not meeting their minimum standards and needed massive renovations.

The ban was put in place ahead of the postponed Afcon qualifiers at the end of March. A second inspection was conducted in April for the World Cup qualifiers but the suspension was upheld.

Posting on her Facebook account, Chiwenga, who is based in the UK, said everything was almost done and they were working on the dates.

“I was hurt when Zimbabwe was banned from hosting international matches at local venues,” she said.

“I was working on bringing the EPL to Zimbabwe and facilitating a shirt sponsorship deal like that of Arsenal and Rwanda. We were only left on finalising the dates.”-Soccer 24

World Hand Hygiene Day Message

By Dr Ellane Simon

World Hand Hygiene Day – 5 May 2020
It is a day celebrated every year to mobilise people around the world to increase adherence to hand hygiene especially in health care facilities.

The theme for 2020 is: “SAVE LIVES: Clean your hands”.

The main goal of Global Hand Hygiene Day is to recognize that handwashing is one of the most effective action you can take to reduce spread of pathogens and prevent infections including COVID-19 virus.

In this era of COVID-19 hand washing has proven to be one of the most key prevention measure.

World Health Organization(WHO) aims is to:

  1. Make hand hygiene a global priority
  2. Inspire hand hygiene and behavior change
  3. Engage with health care workers in their role in clean care and prevention of infections

An alcohol based hand rub or washing hands with soap and water are the recommended ways to keep our hands clean.

Gloves are not a substitute for hand hygiene and should only be worn as a form of hand hygiene.

When using an alcohol hand rub, apply and rub hands for about 20-30seconds. If hands are visibly soiled use soap and water for 40-60seconds.

When to observe hand washing everyday at home:

  1. After using the toilet
    2.Before preparing or handling food
    3.After changing diapers or nappies
  2. If hands are visibly soiled Zimbabwe Online Health Centre

NGO Opposes Government Decision To Evict Villagers From Ancestral Land

Masvingo Centre for Research Advocacy and Development Statement on the pending evictions of 1000 Chiredzi East and South Families from their ancestral Land without clear compensation.

Masvingo Centre for Research, Advocacy and Development (MACRAD) is against government’s decision to evict more than 1000 Chiredzi East and South families to pave way for lucerne production project by private milk producer, Dendairy.

Dendairy is targeting about 10 000 hectares for the project of lucerne grass used for grazing, hay, green manure and silage.

Private companies that exploit labour from marginalized communities nearby own most part of Lowveld area. The government of Zimbabwe is well known for failing to provide basic welfare of residents that were evicted to pave way for the construction of Tugwi-Mukosi dam in 2014.

Victims of Tugwi-Mukosi floods, had to endure hardships at Chingwizi Transit Camp before they were eventually given a one-hectare piece of land each to which they do not have security of tenure. Over the past year Masvingo province recorded a highest number of evictions amongst all provinces in Zimbabwe.

The government must not give land to private companies while indigenous people are moved are crammed in unsuitable areas.

We stand in solidarity with villagers that are resisting the move arguing that the government has in the past failed to fulfill their promises.

As MACRAD we will do everything within our means to stand with the families in Chiredzi rural district council since currently it’s clear that the government will relocate these families to areas where there is no infrastructure, which includes schools and clinics. We have seen that in Chingwizi and Chisumbanje as such this same mistake should not happen under our watch. Instead of contracting Dendairy, the government was supposed to empower these families so that they implement the lucerne project themselves.

We stand in Solidarity with the Peasants!!!!

Mwonzora Does Not Have MDC DNA -Analyst

Masvingo Resident Vows To Present Evidence Of Police Incompetence To Mnangagwa

Farai Dziva| A Masvingo resident has said he is ready to present evidence of “gross police ineptitude” to Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ZRP Commissioner General.

See letter below:

Dear editor- On Monday I came face to face with the alarming level of incompetence and lack of professionalism within the police force.

I went to Masvingo Central Police Station to seek permission to travel to my rural home to see my sick brother – with the intention of taking him to hospital.

To my surprise the officers on duty tossed me from one office to another and I had to spend close to four hours at Masvingo Central Police Station.

While I eventually managed to have my application letter stamped, scores of people in the same predicament were denied permission to travel to their respective rural areas.

Some people literally wept as they were harassed by junior cops.As much as police officers are determined to enforce the lockdown restrictions, they must also be aware of the fact that people don’t just travel for fun.

I was pushed by the desire to save the life of our my sick brother- nothing else.

I would like to make a passionate appeal to the Police Commissioner and the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe to resolve the issue as a matter of urgency.

I am willing to present my case to President Mnangagwa and the Police Commissioner General – that I will certainly do, mark my words- worried citizen

“We’re With You”, Chairlady Mpariwa Tells MDCA Women In North America

Solidarity solidarity solidarity was the message given over and over by speakers from the Women’s Assembly National Executive.

This was the first ever E-Rally held by NAP and it won’t be the last. The Rally was held to show unity and solidarity with the Women’s Assembly in North America. Covid19 has caused a lot of hurt in the diaspora.

At least 15 Zimbabweans have passed on in North America alone. Many continuevto recover and some remain quarantined. The economic effects are felt across the board.

The guest speaker was Chairlady Mpariwa. The key take away points:
1) we have come to stand in solidarity with you and to comfort during this difficult time. We’re praying for you.

2) Advocate Nelson Chamisa remains the President of the party

3) Covid19 has affected a lot of programs which will be continued after the lockdown

4) Let us partner together in future projects to empower women in Zimbabwe

5) thank you for your support and stay safe, stay strong. God will give us success.
There was music from Madzore, dancing and ululating for such a great achievement.

This reporter has been advised they’ll be many more E-Rallies in the future.

Mnangagwa Government Accused Of Unleashing “Second Gukurahundi” On Shangani People

Last year ED Mnangagwa seized land from Chief Tshovani and gave it to Chief Neromwe .

This year the same government has given Dendairy land which belongs to Chief Chilonga and Chief Masivamele of Chikombedzi.

This government is targeting the Shangani Chiefs.

They will go for Chief Sengwe.

The plan is to deal with Shangani Chiefs one by one.

I urge all people in Chikombedzi and Chiredzi to resist this Gukurahundi part 2.

Together we can win this.

Yours truly
Cllr Gilbert Mutubuki

Emmerson Mnangagwa

Team Khupe Devise New Tactics For Chamisa Ouster.

By A Correspondent- Opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa faces a new challenge following reports that the Thokozani Khupe-led team is gnawing into structures of the party and steadily building a movement which could leave him and his peers in the cold.

Douglas Mwonzora reinstated to the position of secretary-general by the Supreme Court, is leading the assault on Chamisa, with sources saying his team had already opened new WhatsApp groups where they were adding mostly members from the 2014 MDC structures who lost their posts after the integration of alliance partners into the MDC.

In a notice, MDC Alliance organising secretary Amos Chibaya warned party members against joining the new groups being put in place by Mwonzora.

“As the national organising department, we did not form new national council WhatsApp groups, so reject being added to any new NC WhatsApp groups. The rebels are now desperate and are masquerading as the national organising department. All suspected structural is-sues please report to national organising secretary Amos Chibaya,” the memo sent out to party supporters read.

Deputy organising secretary Happymore Chidziva said they were not worried about the attempt to poach members and rope them into the MDC formation that is being run by Mwonzora.

“Well, those being added into groups have freedom of association rights and we are not going to force them to leave those groups. We just want people to know that those are not our groups and if they choose to remain there, it’s their right’,” he said.

Mwonzora, who is leading preparations for the MDC-T extraordinary congress (EOC), confirmed using WhatsApp groups to mobilise the MDC 2014 structures, saying because of the lockdown, he had to resort to the use of technology which has had over-whelming response. A new secretariat has also been put in place, with Mwonzora claiming he has employed Nixon Nyikadzino, the secretary-general of Khupe’s MDC-T.

“Our secretariat is on the ground and working using WhatsApp groups and other means, and it’s oversubscribed. What I can say is that those who are against the implementation of the Supreme Court decision are not united. We know that they are collecting names of the 2014 structures, they are preparing to attend the EOC and are actually lobbying for posts in the party when we eventually hold congress.”

“Mr Nyikadzino did come to me and I did give him a job because he initially said he accepted the Supreme Court decision, but well, now he has written a letter which changes his position, but it’s of no effect,” Mwonzora said.

He said he already had 50% of the delegates needed for congress in the bag and was working to raise 20% to ensure that at least two-thirds of the delegates attend congress.

“We have used WhatsApp groups, and other means to reach and verify the delegates to the congress and we have, at the moment, 3 000 delegates who have confirmed and are ready to attend congress. This is 50% of what we need. So we are working to get the other delegates so that we record two-thirds which is required,” he said.

MDC Alliance secretary-general, Chalton Hwende said they were as sure as light that the attempts by Mwonzora and Khupe to revive their waning political lives through the backdoor were doomed.

“All of a sudden, those who were opposed to the MDC Alliance want to benefit from it. They claim its electoral victory is theirs, that a Supreme Court ruling that we were not part of gives them access to the supporters of the party. Well, we wish them well in their new political endeavours, but we will not lose sleep over their actions,” he said.

In the face of the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, Mwonzora, Khupe and former chair Morgen Komichi are considering holding their congress via virtual means.

Mwonzora had earlier said he would be releasing a roadmap yesterday after a standing committee meeting, which is scheduled before the end of the week.-Newsday

Joram Siwela Among The 2.5k Prisoners Freed In Mnangagwa’s Latest Amnesty

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has freed over 2 500 convicts among them Joram Siwela who was convicted for murder.

Siwela, a former Chaplin High School student and professional football player, was jailed for his offence 21 years ago.

That was after he got into a fight over a girl, resulting in him brutally stabbing and killing his schoolmate.

Jorum

Memories of the day he butchered his friend before handing himself over to the police are still fresh in his mind.

Serving a life sentence with hard labour is excruciating, but for Siwela it is worse as he claims to be tormented by an avenging spirit.

He says almost every night for the past 21 years, he has had to be woken up by his cellmates who say he throws punches, screams and argues with unseen forces in his sleep.

Siwela says he constantly has violent nightmares, and images of the murder he committed back in 1998 also flash in his sleep.

He was among the released convicts.

Data Price Hike Spells Disaster For Access to Education: Mahere

By Jane Mlambo| Opposition MDC Secretary for Education Advocate Fadzayi Mahere has condemned data price hike by Econet Wireless saying it will increase the digital divide between the rich and the poor.

The recent hikes comes in the face of government plans to promote online classes as a safe measure against COVID-19.

Some of the schools have already started online classes and this latest upward review of data tariffs is likely to throw all the plans up in smoke.

Posting on Twitter, Mahere said online classes were too expensive for many families who are struggling to make ends meet amid diminishing lockdown earnings.

“The rising cost of data spells disaster for access to education. The digital divide means the poor have little or no access to online learning. Online classes are too expensive for many who are struggling to make ends meet amid diminished lockdown earnings,” said Mahere.

Econet has hiked data tariffs by as much as 350 percent with its monthly data package of 25 gigabytes which used to cost rtgs400 now costing rtgs1300.

NetOne has also announced its planned data tariff hike which will be effective from tomorrow.

“We Can Treat Coronavirus”: ZINATHA

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association (Zinatha) has sensationally claimed that it has herbs that can treat coronavirus (Covid-19) , calling on the government to include its members in rapid response teams.

“In Zimbabwe, we do have herbs such as Murumanyama or Muremberembe (Shona) and isihaqa (Ndebele) that can be effective in treating coronavirus.

To this end, our efforts to accelerate the response to the Covid-19 pandemic and prevent its re-emergence needs the use of indigenous medicines that have been in existence for a long time,” he added.-DailyNews

No Ventilator For Byo’s Main Isolation Centre

By A Correspondent- Infectious Diseases Hospital, the city’s main isolation centre, still has no Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a ventilator, critical in the fight against coronavirus (Covid-19), Mayor Solomon Mguni has said.

In a weekly update outlining the activities the City of Bulawayo is undertaking to tackle Covid-19, Mguni said Bulawayo continued to face a number of resource gaps, a development that negatively affects efficient response to the pandemic.

“While Thorngrove Hospital at present can admit anything from asymptomatic to mild cases, it does not have ICU or High Dependency Unit (HDU) facilities nor a ventilator. It also has no accommodation for isolating staff that may be exposed,” Mguni said.

He also said the hospital was in need of more oxygen canisters, flow metres, delivers tubes and masks or nasal prongs and highlighted that the rapid response teams also have inadequate fuel and airtime for surveillance.

Mguni said the city has inadequate human resources should cases of Covid-19 increase.

To date, Bulawayo has recorded 12 confirmed cases of the respiratory disease and one death. Nationally, the country has recorded 34 cases, including four deaths and five recoveries.-DailyNews

Magufuli Suspends Head Of National Health Laboratory Over Faulty COVID-19 Test Kits

By A Correspondent- Tanzania has suspended the head of its national health laboratory in charge of testing for the coronavirus and ordered an investigation, a day after President John Magufuli questioned the tests’ accuracy.

Magufuli said on Sunday the imported test kits were faulty as they had returned positive results on a goat and a pawpaw — among several non-human samples submitted for testing, with technicians left deliberately unaware of their origins.

He did not say where the kits had been imported from or why the authorities had been suspicious of the results.

Catherine Sungura, acting head of communications at the ministry of health, said in a statement on Monday the director of the laboratory and its quality assurance manager had been immediately suspended “to pave way for the investigation”.

Sungura said a 10-person committee had been formed to investigate the laboratory’s operations, including its process of collecting and testing samples.

On Sunday, Magufuli also fired the head of the government Medical Stores Department, which is in charge of distributing medical supplies and equipment to government hospitals, but gave no reason.

As of Monday, Tanzania had recorded 480 cases of COVID-19 and 18 deaths, according to a Reuters tally based on government and World Health Organization data.

Unlike most other African countries, Tanzania sometimes goes for days without offering updates, with the last bulletin on cases on Wednesday.

COVID-19 infections and fatalities reported across Africa have been relatively low compared with the United States, parts of Asia and Europe. But Africa also has extremely low levels of testing, with rates of only around 500 per million people.

In neighbouring Kenya, a senate body sought an explanation from the Health Ministry over the circumstances leading to the demotion of the head of the rapid response and team director in charge of the centre for virus research at the state-run Kenya Medical Research Institute.

“In relation to the above, the committee observes that the timing of the dismissal is wrong as it is likely to have a significant impact on the morale and motivation of the various staff that were working under him,” the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on the COVID-19 situation in Kenya said in a report on April 28.-Reuters

If Mnangagwa created Fake Terrorist Gwesela and killed 22,000 people saying army’s hunting for him (for 4yrs 1983-87), and then created Fake Polling stations for Filipe Nyusi in Masvingo (in 2019), what stops him from creating Fake Terrorists in Mozambique?

Terrorists in Mozambique Investigated.

  • Fake Pictures.
  • Fake Mission.
  • Strong Obsession On Zimbabwe, beginning to end
  • Fake President.
  • Fake SADC,
  • Mozambican opposition says it’s the government soldiers killing civilians,

| ANALYSIS | There are some digital footprints from within as well as from outside Mozambique that suggest that the terrorists currently operating in that country were created by Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa so he can unleash military rule over the Beira corridor: it’s all about money and getting it by blood. He’s been doing this since 1983. He created Richard Gwesela (who was later killed by a newspaper article, literally), and up to as late as 2018 when we finally witnessed the Terrorist game played before our eyes on LIVE video. It’s a well known game by the politicians and innocent people die.

In recent weeks, we have been told of Christians being killed by so-called Islamic militants in Mozambique. Are they real terrorists and not mere political agents on a special assignment? Let’s hear from the Mozambicans themselves what they are both seeing and saying.

Of the 59 tweets published by ‘the Mozambican Islamic militant group,’ on a Twitter handle, 90% of them are attacking Zimbabwe; their very first one on the 29th April 2020, is a direct message to Emmerson Mnangagwa, and the last one, late Monday evening 9pm, refers to Zimbabwe. Why are these “terrorists” so obsessed with Zimbabwe beginning with their very first tweet?

Of the pictures published of the terrorists lately and on their Twitter account, FranceAlRasa, one is unmasked as a 2015 photo, and the second (used by a South African publication, Daily Maverick, which claims they got it via Telegram from the group last year, has its first citing way back in June 2018 over in Europe, Turkey, nowhere near Africa.

The Twitter account FranceAlRasa, was created on the 29th April 2020, well in advance of Mnangagwa’s visit there (just a day before).

The correlation of timing as well as the desperation to rebuild the economy using military metal all point to one thing – a brute politician’s methods repeated for over 37 years since the 4th of May 1983.

One possibility – mere malicious intent

One possibility suggests that the Twitter account was created by a merely malicious person who is seeking to agitate war against Emmerson Mnangagwa. This is a very strong likely, and many citizens are known for doing these things in the past as they vent their anger against the government. If this is the case however how did the individual (s) know that Mnangagwa would fly over to Mozambique at the end of the week? The person who did this could thus only be an insider, or at least one possessing insider state-knowledge.

Furthermore if that is true, on Sunday, the nation witnessed ZANU PF’s most prolific pressure group, screaming on social networks that the Zimbabwe National Army must be deployed to Mozambique with immediate effect, today. They said they must do this in order to crush ISIS. They are confident that they will win this war. Very soon ZANU PF will throw a party telling the whole world that Emmerson Mnangagwa is the only politician who can crush ISIS. He has done it in Mozambique! Perfect. We will all believe them, because we did not care to investigate.

And why is ZANU PF suddenly agitated for war?

Does Mozambique have Islamic militants? Who is funding them?

Since Mnangagwa created fake polling stations in Masvingo for Phillip Nyusi 7 months ago, and someone printed fake IDs for scores of Zimbabweans who have never set foot in Mozambique to vote for Nyusi, what is his next move? The current Chairman of the SADC Politics, Defence And Security, is well known for creating terrorists who work for him and his story is documented for a long 37 year period. It brings up the question of what SADC is all about when it appoints someone who has killed more blacks than apartheid South Africa to head its defence and security, but well this is a very very long discussion for another day. A very long one.

Local agencies in Mozambique quote the opposition in that country complaining that the state is murdering civilians.

Mozambique’s interior minister, Amade Miquidade, last month attacked what he described as dis-information spread by independent journalists who are calling into question the credibility of Mozambique’s security forces.

He also blasted Jose Manteigas, a spokesman for Renamo, the main opposition party, who has accused the country’s security forces of “murdering” civilians.

Miquidade said the security forces “will not tolerate these acts of subversion.”

Zitimar news agency, quotes Manteigas alleging that Mozambique’s security forces killed 12 civilians — including two Renamo members — when they attacked boats at jetties on Ibo island in mid-April.

In another report, the interior minister has claimed that security forces have since put the situation in Cabo Delgado under control.

“The situation in Cabo Delgado, at this moment, is under control. What does that mean? We have identified where the enemy is, what are their bases, what are their camps and their movements; while, the defence and security forces are strategically preparing for yet another offensive,” said Miquidade.

Seeing that Mnangagwa is officially assisting Nyusi with political direction, what kind of mentorship is Emmerson Mnangagwa giving the Mozambican leader, a professional one? How is the story unfolding?

So far, the report begins on the 4th May 1983, when Mnangagwa created fake terrorists having abducted and killed 6 western tourists. The victims were: Brett Baldwin, 23, of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Kevin Ellis, 24, of Bellevue, Wash.; Britons James Greenwell and Martyn Hodgeson; and Australians Tony Bajzeli and William Butler.

The Gwesela sequel.

ZIFA’s spokesperson, Xolisani Gwesela has in recent days responded to allegations by some quarters in Matebeleland who attack him saying that he is the son of the notorious so called dissident, Ranson or Richard Gwesela, a terrorist Mnangagwa created in the 1980s.

Gwesela is the infamous “immortal” character who the Zimbabwean military claimed they were after between 1983 and 1987 when they continued to kill civilians until more than 22,000 people were massacred. He was immortal for a whole 4 years and only “killed” when ZANU PF now wanted to sign a unity accord with Joshua Nkomo’s ZAPU party in 1987.

Thousands of people sensationally flocked to a police station in Gweru on the 18th November 1987 for a glimpse of the bullet-riddled corpse of Zimbabwe’s most wanted “fugitive.”

Zimbabwe Republic Police say Richard Gwesela, a former guerrilla fighter, was a gang leader who terrorized the people of two provinces for four years.

Gwesela was alleged to have murdered 20 people in the Midlands and neighbouring Matabeleland provinces. He also was said to have raped women and robbed villagers.

In silence, onlookers walked past his body sprawled beneath a wanted poster offering $30,000 for him, dead or alive.

The state media said Gwesela was the country’s most wanted man, and was killed in a gunbattle with Zimbabwean security forces near Gweru “on Sunday,” earlier.

His death was reported for the first time three days later, on the Wednesday. There were no independent investigations to confirm the state media report.

His mother and an uncle identified the corpse as Gwesela, and police fingerprints confirmed the identity, according to the state media report.

″Gwesela had killed more than 20 people since he started operating in the area,″ Enos Nkala, home affairs minister in charge of police, told reporters. ″Now he is going to join them, whether in heaven or hell, we don’t know,” he said.

NEW TWIST.

33 years later, some Mthwakazi activists have begun claiming ZIFA’s Gwesela was rewarded the sports job for a sterling role the supposed father played as an insider who staged for Emmerson Mnangagwa during Gukurahundi in order to kill civilians, pursuing Emmerson Mnangagwa’s terror operation to kill people under the guise of flushing out dissidents.

One activist makes the above chilling allegations (pic).

Responding however, ZIFA’s Mr Xolisani Gwesa told ZimEye, the so called Gwesela was not even a real Gwesela.

He said: “This writer is waffling. I am shocked by these ghastly falsehoods.

“I am the son of the late Chief Gwesela whose real name was Cornelius Nobody Gwesela Ndebele who died in 1996.He was never a dissident. The so called “dissident Gwesela” was never a Gwesela and his real name was Zedious Mangena.

“I am holder of a Masters Degree in Media and Society studies, Post grad Diploma in Media , Bsc Honours degree , Diploma in Management and Diploma in Sport Management.

“I have over 15 years experience in media management and sport management and events coordination. I joined Zifa purely on merit.

“The Gweselas are also from Zhombe and not Lower Gweru. The Gweselas are also from Zhombe and not Lower Gweru.”

ZIMBABWE, THE WORLD’S FASTEST GROWING CROP ECONOMY SUDDENLY CRASHED FOLLOWING MNANGAGWA’S PRONOUNCEMENTS

Rhodesia, was once the worst hit African economy by both United Nations sanctions and a debilitating 14 year running civil war from within, and yet by 1976, it had been hailed as the world’s fastest growing crop economy. So what really went wrong? Soon after 1980, it was handed over to Robert Mugabe and his state security minister Emmerson Mnangagwa, who less than 3 years later launched a military crackdown against civilians who he personally described as cockroaches who must be wiped out using DDT. That operation destroyed the economy in ways exactly similar to the recent 1 Aug 2018 military crackdown (which the Finance Ministry has told The Motlanthe Commission has cost the nation USD16 billion.) Zimbabwe’s economy began crumbling following Mnangagwa’s words on the 4th April 1983:

“Blessed are they who will follow the path of the Government laws, for their days on earth will be increased. But woe unto those who will choose the path of collaboration with dissidents for we will certainly shorten their stay on earth.”

As Minister of State Security, Mnangagwa was in charge of the brutal massacre of more than 22 000 Ndebele. He labeled dissidents ‘cockroaches’ and the killers of the Fifth Brigade army unit as ‘DDT,’ an insecticide.

Economy data shows how the country’s GDP crashed down following the operation, and effects were immediately felt from 1983 all the way to 1985.

Fast forward to the period 2004 – 2018 more evidence shows the correlation between economic performance and the rule of law, specifically human rights adherence.

MNANGAGWA’S METHOD.

But Mnangagwa’s method is different. He operates on the belief that an economy is only built by killing people, and his appetite for shedding blood is evident for 40 years to date during which he has killed more blacks than apartheid South Africa. On the 2nd January, 2020, he told residents of Kuwadzana, Harare that he will send the army after them once he suspects them to have stopped the rain. This came barely 2 years after he deployed the military to change election results and citizens for the first time witnessed soldiers opening fire against shoppers going about the day-to-day business.

What kind of mentorship is Emmerson Mnangagwa giving the Mozambican leader, a professional one?

There is no doubt that Mnangagwa will deny all this evidence even to the Mozambicans. But his file is now full and fat, a whole 37 years full.

Zimbabweans In South Africa Target The Needy As COVID-19 Pandemic Worsens Poverty Situation

By Josiah Mucharowana and Taruberekera Masara in Pretoria
Zimbabweans in South Africa find solace online, getting aid from well-wishers as plans are afoot to create a database of those in most need, ZimEye has learnt.

Speaking from Pretoria, leader of House of Hope-Ithemba a registered Non Profit Organisation (NPO) Frederick Mbiri said there were many people who had approached him for help during the lockdown period.

“I can tell you the response has been overwhelming. There are so many people in distress and the challenge is we operate on a zero budget,’

‘Only yesterday my social contacts helped buying electricity costing about 400 and we divided that so we could buy for more people,’ he said.

“I have been working colleagues of mine that have also been helped before buying electricity, food parcels. We even call people to keep them company during lockdown,”.

“I can tell you my phones ring nonstop with strangers calling me from everywhere,” he said from Menylin, Pretoria.

“Since 2013 we have been working with the Zimbabwe’s Workers Union South Africa( ZIWUSA) that’s morphed into Zimbabwe Workers Union South Africa( ZIWUSA) providing assistance to those arrested in terms of legal aid, online permit applications and disputes at work,’ Mbiri said.

House of Hope came about as a result of a split with ZUWUSA led by Secretary General Mandla Masuku, he said

The NPO has been visible in Mamelodi and Lephalale in Limpopo where there are structures aimed to help Zimbabweans in need.
” I am normally in Limpopo and we had reports of soldiers harassing foreigners especially Zimbabweans to the extent of demanded passports or money. Soldiers  would even do raids in the residential homes during this Lockdown.”
” The situation got better only after we spoke as an organisation to the police commanders in the area” he said.
‘”There also have been a case of a Zimbabwean who was infected by coronavirus but we gather she has since recovered,” Mbiri said.
However, the writers could not ascertain the veracity of the alleged coronavirus case from South African authorities.
House of Hope, he says, has no budget and has introduced an online platform where Zimbabweans nationwide can express issues affecting them and those who can will chip in with the little they have.

“Helping is our hearts regardless of what we have”

“I have helped people whose permits have been rejected, transfers and those who had lost. We help with food parcels, and electricity, anything we can, we have no donors,” Mbiri said.

“I have a large group of loyal friends some of whom we have helped before, these also try to impact others,” he said.

He added the majority of Zimbabweans on the platform are affected with many having little or no money left.

“Imagine many people stopped working two two weeks before Lockdown. It was unexpected,”

“Currently the message we have been trying to push across is people should just share whatever the little they have with those in need that within their neighborhood, the platform is quite a hit,’ he says.

“It could be bread, mealie-meal or even potatoes. The platform has been a blessing to some,” he said.

Commenting on an advert widely circulated which included numbers for leadership across the provinces of South Africa for Zimbabweans to register for aid he said:” Yes it is true. My former colleague Edward Mwachuta is involved in that.

” That is the work of Zimbabwe Exemption Permits Lobby group(ZEP) led by Darlington Chihuta who is the chairman.

“We are yet to see how serious this is but I understand it is meant to create a profile database for Zimbabweans in need,”

However ,he said that would be used as a begging bowl sourcing funding from potential donors with a focus on those living legally in South Africa.
In the meantime, no donations or programmes have been undertaken.

“It would be a rescue fund of sorts but would collate profiles of those with Zimbabwe Special Dispensation permits, or any other legal document,’ he said.

However, the document read, ” Those in SA with Zep permits can you  contact coordinator  of your province. It’s an issue  of food parcels or donations,”

The writers managed to get a comment from the database’ s Limpopo Provincial Coordinator Maphosa who said that: ” It was a programme of receiving people’s details so that our leaders may submit to donors. Unfortunately programme closed on the 25th at 13.30pm,”

”I am not sure when it will reopen, but as of now its on hold. Thats what is on the ground. I am not writing any details even in other provinces. Nothing. We are only waiting for our leaders to get feedback from these private donors,’ he said.

When asked about the figures of the database this far, he said ” I cant remember the number since I was just forwarding names to our leaders in the higher office,”

When further probed how the project started he said ‘” In fact we are ZEP ZimBabwe Exemption Permits coordinators. The food issue just started during the lockdown,”

He added there has been a major cry for help they prompted a call beyond their mandate: ” I just had and still having too many people calling for assistance in form of food parcels. I am just informing them that this is on hold but people are starving as they are calling day and night.

“I can’t bear receiving the voice calls but WhatsApp messages I can respond to some. I am in trouble right now one call after another non stop” Maphosa said.

Meanwhile the House of Hope leader Mbiri also indicated Zimbabwe Community Leader in Johannesburg Nicholas Mabhena has also been in efforts to help the needy during the lockdown indicating unverifiable reports that there have been donations in Cape Town.

“I have been in touch with fellow Zimbos in Cape Town saying a Gibson from Zanu PF youth League there is giving some food aid,”

“There also has been Zororo Phumulani funeral parlour. These are individuals with an interest towards Zimbabweans. We are very behind,” he added.

Mbiri said coronavirus is an ongoing thing and nobody is sure how people would survive.

“Remember most Zimbabweans survive from hand to mouth, they do piece jobs, some buying and selling, some green grocers,”

“Since last week, numbers have changed, a large number of people have come forward on the platform and contacting churches needing help,” he said.

“Check now, most employers are saying they can only pay 30 percent of salaries and the rest should come from Unemployment Insurance Fund(UIF),”

“We know that takes forever and even worse when one doesn’t have legal status’.

It is a crisis and you know South Africa government only catered for its citizens during lockdown,”Mbiri said.

In Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, Mbiri said there have been social development partners who provided food even to Zimbabweans on grounds they produced legal papers and that was a challenge.

“We all know, about 10 percent have legal status in South Africa, majority do piece jobs, and construction work. Others even look for jobs at traffic intersections,” Mbiri  said.

In consequence of the dire situation, there has been an increase in the number of people intending to go back to Zimbabwe.

“We understand there have been engagements with Zimbabwean Embassy to open up the border a bit so people could go home,”

“The situation is between a rock and a hard place as when they reach the border, there is a 21 day quarantine imposed by Zimbabwe,” he said.
House of Hope is not about how much you have but how many you help, Mbiri said.

Last month Zimbabweans in various areas of South Africa such as Yeoville and Emalahleni received food parcels from the African Medallion Group owned by millionaire businessman Frank Buyanga.

Others in Mamelodi were hoodwinked to gather for food parcels purportedly donated by footballers Khama Billiat and China- based Nyasha Mushekwi. It turned out to be a hoax.

Civil Servant Evicted From Rented Home

By A Correspondent- Togara Munemo (49), a civil servant is a dejected man.

As he stands at the gate, the family man is not certain about what will become of him during this COVID-19 lockdown after he was ejected from his rented house by the new property owner.

His tale is that of many families who have been subjected to evictions by property owners despite the current lockdown rules and ravaging effects of the coronavirus.

The civil servant and his family spent Friday night in the open after the new house owner, Mubaiwa Dzvuke allegedly chucked them out and moved in.

Dzvuke is the MDC Alliance councillor for Nyameni high-density suburb.

“We were given notice in February to leave the property and I complied,” Munemo said.

“I then found another house and paid the rentals anticipating to move in by the end of this month.

“However, the tenant living in the house I am to occupy did not relocate to Harare as planned due to the lockdown. The new house owner did not take any of that into account and threw us out. We slept in the open.”

When NewsDay visited the house, Munemo was still outside with his family and property.

“I have been staying here for the past two years, but I am worried how I am going to secure another accommodation given the current situation.

“My new landlord understood my issue and did let the outgoing tenant stay until this is over. I thought Dzvuke would understand the situation better as a policymaker, but that’s not it,” Munemo said.

Munemo is currently sleeping in the open with his eight family members, among them children despite the cold nights often experienced in Marondera.

Dzvuke yesterday confirmed being the new owner and said Munemo refused to sleep in the house.

“I bought the house in January and gave Munemo notice,” Dzvuke said.

“He was not my tenant and I did not even ask for rentals.

“He kept on saying he was set to occupy a house whose tenant is set to relocate to Harare. The deal was for them to move out on Workers Day.

“When I arrived at the house as per our agreement, Munemo’s wife started moving their property out. When her husband returned, he called an army official and told them their story. I even created two rooms for them to put their things and possibly sleep, but they refused,” Dzvuke said.

In a bid to protect tenants whose source of income was affected by the lockdown, President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week deferred payment of rentals, ordering landlords to accept payment of rental arrears in instalments after the COVID-19 lockdown period. Evictions were also outlawed.

Statutory Instrument 97 2020 reads: “Any person who causes or forces or attempts to cause or force the eviction of any protected tenant or protected mortgagor for asserting or exercising any of his or her rights under these regulations shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding level twelve or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or to both such fine and such imprisonment.”

However, Munemo’s case is a different one as it is not about rentals. For now, he will continue sleeping in the open until he secures new lodgings.-Newsday

Over 100 People Nabbed Over Failure To Wear Masks In Public

By A Correspondent- Over 100 people have been arrested in Bulawayo, mainly for not wearing masks in public, as medical experts said the home-made mask is safe to use in fighting Covid-19, if properly used.

It is now mandatory for people to wear masks outside their homes as the country enters level two of the national lockdown.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube yesterday said 115 people were arrested in the city for disobeying level two lockdown regulations and said the majority was for non-adherence to the standing orders on wearing of masks.

“We arrested 115 people, most of them for issues to do with wearing of masks. We are enforcing a law announced by President Mnangagwa that people must be wearing masks at all times if outside of their homes. We are seeing some people displaying masks but not wearing them. If one is in public places, the mask must be covering your nose and mouth, and it must not be hanging on your chin or just on your forehead, or in your handbag. It must be worn,” said Inspector Ncube.

“So, we are arresting all those people with masks but not wearing them, and those without. We are flexible on what people are using as masks. We just want the mouth and nose covered that is all. People can improvise and use what is available but they must be covered when not at home.” He commended Bulawayo residents who complied with the new requirements.

“We, however, applaud Bulawayo residents because most of them who were moving about yesterday had masks on, especially in the CBD where there is usually limited social distancing,” said Inspector Ncube.

Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZIMA) secretary-general Dr Sacrifice Chirisa said if worn correctly, homemade masks were safe and people did not have to fork out money to buy surgical masks at pharmacies.

He said there was a global shortage of surgical masks and called for people who are non-essential service staff to embrace home-made masks to reserve the surgical ones for frontline staff at higher risk.

“Home-made masks should be double clothed or pleated. It’s not necessary to stretch or open up the pleats, as long as the mask is covering the nose and mouth, then it is fine. Always ensure that your mouth and nose are covered. The public must also remember the safe way to use masks. If not washed for each use, the reusable mask can be a health hazard as they can harbour bacteria and viruses. These masks should not be shared, just like underwear,” said Dr Chirisa.

For people claiming to be suffocating from wearing masks, Dr Chirisa said it was normal for people to have such feelings if they are wearing them for the first time.

“It is expected. When someone is wearing a mask for the first time, that discomfort and feeling of suffocation is normal. However, it is not deadly. Otherwise our doctors would have dropped dead when conducting surgeries that take long hours because they wear masks the entire time,” said Dr Chirisa.

Dr Chirisa encouraged the use of cotton and nylon cloths to produce home-made masks as it was wearable and allowed for easy breathing while also providing enough protection. When reporters toured Bulawayo suburbs yesterday, many people had complied with the masks order. Some enterprising tailors started making home-made masks from their backyards and were providing them at a lesser price than pharmacy prices.

Mr Lovemore Phiri of Mzilikazi suburb was making masks in his home and displaying some by the gate for people to see. He said most of his customers where people going to Mpilo Central Hospital, a stone throw away from his home.

“Most people go to the hospital unprepared as they did not know that without a mask, one is no longer allowed into the hospital grounds. So they now pass by buying masks, while some come back and buy after making a U-turn at the hospital gate. I am selling them for $10 only,” he said.

A disposable mask at a pharmacy costs between US$1 and US$3, while a reusable one costs between US$3 and US$5. However, home-made masks were going for between $10 and $15 in local currency.

Dr Chirisa said Zimbabweans were better off settling for the cheaper homemade masks to save their hard-earned cash.

“The generality of Zimbabweans do not have access to foreign currency and cannot afford the disposable mask that they will have to discard daily. It makes more economic sense to use the reusable mask as it is more cost efficient but serves the same purpose,” he said.

“GMAZ To Increase Mealie Meal Prices From $72 To $260.59 Per 10kg”- Leaked Memo

By A Correspondent- Millers reportedly want a 10kg bag of subsidised mealie meal to be sold to consumers for $260.

This was revealed in a leaked letter from Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) general manager Lynnette Veremu to the association’s national executive committee.

Part of the leaked letter reads:

The new price of maize has been revised upwards without increasing current subsidy of $72 per 10 kg bag. Should millers proceed to adjust prices of maize meal accordingly at the current subsidy level, the new prices will be, miller to retail, $230,61 and retail to customers, $260,59.

The price of maize has moved from $6 958 00 from Grain Marketing Board to $12 329.72 which is a 77,2% upward movement.

This comes after GMAZ recently announced that they were running out of maize stocks.

CBZ Senior Banker In Fraud Storm

By Own Correspondent| A senior banker at state linked bank CBZ Holdings has been accused of fraud.

According to investigations done by the Financial Intelligence Unit indicate that at least 30% of complaints to the CBZ bank are fraud related, with E-banking division being the epicenter.

Sources within the unit said Emmanuel Tapera, a senior staffer in the E-Banking department is said to be the core of fraudulent activities that are said to be fuelling financial instability.

Sources said ecocash bulk payments are funded through E-Banking using the Econet MMT account which is currently held by three banks CBZ, Steward bank and Stanbic bank.

A report by the FIU indicated that Tapera was involved in dealing sipphoning of public funds to his accounts and return the cash days after.

Sources said Tapera would withhold funds from corporates which are meant to fund commercial transactions and divert the same to his accounts.

“He is withholding funds that would have been meant to fund commercial transactions and takes that money to his personal projects. By the time he authorises the funds, it would have lost its value. In the process, he benefits alone while jeopardizing the economy,” said a source.

A Cassava client claimed had no bank account so Ecocash bulk payment was the only easiest way to get an electronic wallet to pay his suppliers.

“They have their black market dealers whom they fund first. Those dealers get millions of rtgs dollars at once. Once funded the dealers push the rates on the alternative black market and then the bank (CBZ) holds processing or funding other people’s cash who had sent their Proof of Payments after 3 to 4 days they then fund when the rtgs is now useless”

An FIU report stated that from their interactions with money dealers, one of them named (musondosi) “uyu Emmanuel Tapera uyu ane kachitsotsi ndiye manager anoshandisa mari dzedu achipa marunner ake wotenga mari odzokera kumabuyer wonotengesa mari iya at a higher rate odya profit nemari dzedu, anonetsa anongoisa mari ka1 mumarket nedze last week apedza kudzishandisa hake. Manje hamushandike nekuti most players wemugame anenge ane millions of rtgs except vanhu vake vaanenge atoita deal navo kare.

Attempts to get a comment from Tapera were fruitless while his boss named Deshe was also not available.

A staffer at Cassava said “we only instruct the bank to fund the Ecocash wallets, immediately after the clients money reflects In our MMT account however it is the bank that delays funding them for unknown reasons, stream of complaints from clients who have been victims of this and it seems the end of this trend is nowhere in sight, we have tried to get intouch with the bank’s division however they just say to us what they say to our clients so we do not have any position on this claim by clients of fraud by the bank”

17yr Old Goes Into “Isolation” After Bedroom N_udes Leak

Warren Park teenager has been forced into hiding out of shame following revelations that her nude photographs leaked on social media.

The steamy bedroom photographs which are reported to have been taken by her boyfriend during an intimate moment reportedly found themselves on social media under unclear circumstances.

The 17-year-old Bertha Zembe has been unable to bear the embarrassment she suffered after her nude photographs leaked and has been spending her days in self-imposed isolation at her home. When the publication visited her home, Bertha, who was earlier rumoured to have taken her own life, was in a state of distress.

Asked to comment on the matter, Bertha’s seemingly understanding mother Albina Hove confirmed that it was indeed her daughter in the bedroom photographs making rounds. She also revealed that her daughter was keeping to herself and had not adequately explained the issue at hand. She has an iPhone and she gave it to someone to update on Wi-Fi and we suspect that guy and his friend who was interested in my daughter are the ones who leaked those pictures.

‘I don’t want to confront them yet since my brother who is a police officer is handling the case but we live in the same road with these boys. We don’t want to alert them yet and we will take the matter further.

‘She is not opening up about the nude pictures so each day she seems to be revealing what actually happened. There is nothing I can do about the situation, it’s already done and I cannot change anything.

‘If it were me I could explain about my nudes since I’m an adult but ‘She’s turning 18 this year,’ she said.

Social media was awash with different theories of how the photographs found themselves on the web.

However, a close source who refused to be named said that the photographs were taken sometime in February and were leaked with revelations that Bertha’s boyfriend had sent them to his friend who in turn splashed them online.

Other claims similar to those made by Bertha’s mother alleged that teenagers living in the same area leaked the footage after they stumbled onto it when they were updating Bertha’s mobile device’s software on the internet in her absence.-StateMedia

Two Rushinga Men Charged With Undermining Mnangagwa

By Own Correspondent| Zimbabwean authorities on Sunday 3 May 2020 arrested two men in Rushinga in Mashonaland Central province and charged them with undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa after they allegedly shared and made remarks on a video clip in which the ZANU PF party leader brags about the strength of bond notes, the country’s surrogate currency.

43 year-old Robert Zakeyo and 34 year-old Admire Mupemhi on Monday 4 May 2020 appeared before Bindura Magistrate Mary Msika after they were arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police members and charged with undermining authority of or undermining President Mnangagwa in contravention of section 33(2)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Prosecutors accused Zakeyo and Mupemhi, who were represented by Gift Mtisi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, of sharing a video clip onto a Rushinga Residents WhatsApp group on Friday 1 May 2020 showing
President Mnangagwa claiming that the country’s currency is the strongest in the southern African region.

In the video clip, President Mnangagwa is quoted remarking that; “In this region, in SADC, the RTG, our RTG, the current currency is the strongest currency in the region,” while Mupemhi reportedly wrote the word “frog” in response to the shared video clip.

The video clip, prosecutors claimed, also features Gogo Tsvangirai, mother to the late former Prime Minister and opposition MDC party leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

Mupemhi was set free after Mtisi filed an application for refusal of remand arguing that the charges preferred against his client do not disclose the commission of an offence to which Magistrate Msika agreed with the human rights lawyer.

Zakeyo was released on $300 bail and was ordered to report at his local police once in a fortnight and to continue residing at his given residential address. He returns to court on 18 May 2020, where his trial is scheduled to commence.

Former Communications Minister Found Guilty Of Corruption

By A Correspondent- A top court in Ethiopia’s Amhara regional state on Tuesday found a former minister of communications, Bereket Simon, guilty of corruption charges.

Simon’s trial has been going on for over a year since he was arrested in January 2019 at his residence in the capital, Addis Ababa.

Privately-run Addis Standard portal reported that the Amhara region’s Supreme Court passed a guilty verdict against Simon and a former top civil servant, Tadesse Kassa. The Supreme Court adjourned the sentencing of the duo for Thursday May 6.

Simon was found guilty on two counts whiles Tadesse was found guilty on three counts of the four charges levelled against them. A third co-defendant, businessman Daniel Gizaw was cleared of all the charges.

Simon was a founding member of the former ruling coalition, the Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front, EPRDF. His party in the EPRDF, now the Amhara Democratic Party ousted him from executive committee membership in 2018.

Bereket resigned his position in government in October 2017 at the time as an advisor in charge of Policy Studies and Research to ex Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

Later in December the same year, the state-affiliated FBC reported that Bereket like then Parliament Speaker Abadula Gemeda, had rescinded their resignations. He eventually exited after PM Abiy Ahmed came to power in April 2017.-AfricaNews

Mliswa And Killer Zivhu’s Twitter War In Full

Norton legislator Temba Mliswa and his Chivi counterpart Killer Zivhu have since yesterday been engaged in a social media war of words and ZimEye gives you a full list of tweets they posted targeted at each other.

First to start the war was Mliswa who appeared to celebrate following pictures of Zivhu’s new mansion saying the people of Galloway, a Norton suburb developed by the former Chivi councillor’s company Zimbabwe Amalgamated Housing Association, will have something to attach should they win their court battle against him.

This did not sit well with Zivhu who fired back saying he did not have an outstanding court issue with Galloway residents except the Norton legislator whom he sued for defamation.

Zivhu also advised Mliswa to report him to police if he had issues with him.

“Temba Mliswa for 8 years uchingoti Zivhu is a land baron ndisungise we have more than 100 police stations around Harare wakamirireyi .to make the record straight I don’t have any case before the courts with my clients.ini ndini ndine nyaya newe Temba yandakakusungisa,” said Zivhu.

In follow up tweets, Zivhu said he invited Mliswa and anyone with grievances to appear before the land commission and report him.

“inga ndakadaidza vose vaiti land baron kuti endayi ku lands commission Temba ukaenda wani kkkkk,” he added.

In response, Mliswa appeared to mock Zivhu for responding to him saying the fact that he had to say something meant that it was true about his land dealings.

“When you punch someone & they don’t respond know that it was weak. However when you punch someone & they respond know that it was a good one & painful….the truth hurts doesn’t it @killerzivhu1? Where are the roads in Galloway? Where is the service delivery?,” said Mliswa.

“I’ll keep punching until you’re down, the people of Galloway will be victorious… mark my words!”

ZERA EFFECTS NEW FUEL PRICES

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced a reduction in fuel prices due to the FOB (Free on Board) price movement and the revised duty regime.

Blend which was at $21,77 is now $21 while diesel is now $20,84 from $21,52. FOB basically refers to costs involved in shipping the product.

In a statement, ZERA confirmed the decrease in fuel prices.

“Please be advised that fuel prices effective Tuesday, 5 May 5, 2020 are as follows: maximum pump price for diesel is $20,84 and $21 for blend. Operators may, however, sell at prices below the cap depending on their trading advantages,” read the statement.

The decrease in prices comes as fuel prices world over are coming down. The price per barrel went negative last month as a result of reduction in demand.

Zimbabwe is a net fuel importer, hence any movement on the global market has an effect on the local price.-Statemedia

Madagascar President Now Claims The Whole Of Africa Wants Him To Be AU Chairman.

The leader of Madagascar has been on the lime light since his nation claimed to have found the Corona infection cure, Covid organics CVO. Africans have had motivation to be pleased notwithstanding the World wellbeing association declining to endorse this medication.

Andry Rajoelina once more stunned the world with his yesterday’s late night report. On his twitter account, he posted, “On this #WorldPressFreedomDay, I reported the arrival of all writers right now detained in #Madagascar. Access to honest and opportune data essential in the battle against counterfeit news-is a central right ensured by genuine and proficient reporting.”

Andry said this on TVM while preparation the country about the condition of the plague and the measures put by his administration to control the illness. As not many leaders of the world recognized their columnists on this opportunity day, his choice to discharge those in prison was commendable.

Africans have appreciated Andry and even wished he was the AU administrator, a post held by Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.

This comes when most African pioneers are being constrained by their residents to get the Covid-19 medications that were found in this African Island nation. In excess of 15 African nations have just gotten the main group of flexibly of this medication. Senegal was the main nation to show their trust by making a request.

Madagascar has announced 149 instances of Covid-19 so out of sight which 98 have recouped. All the staying 51 are dynamic cases since nobody has kicked the bucket in the nation. This makes it much increasingly sensible to trust in the nation’s solution for the sickness.

Byo COVID-19 Positive Man Refuses Quarantine

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man who tested positive for COVID-19 last week caused a stir at his place of residence at the weekend as he declined to get into an ambulance and be ferried to an isolation centre.

The man, whose identity could not be established, stays at a residential apartment in the city’s Central Business District (CBD).

However, on Sunday it took the Bulawayo City Council Rapid Response Team more than two hours to convince him to place under self-isolation at the Elangeni Government Training Centre. Neighbours and passers-by surrounded the flat as the council employees pleaded with the man to get into the ambulance.

New Zimbabwe.com news crew also witnessed the Rapid Response Team negotiating with the patient to get into the ambulance. He later agreed to be moved into self-isolation and was rushed to the training centre.

Bulawayo currently does not have a well-equipped COVID-19 treatment centre.

Last month, Local Government Minister, July Moyo said all COVID-19 patients in the city will be referred to Wilkins Infection Diseases Hospital in Harare as Thorngrove Hospital in Bulawayo had no capacity to handle coronavirus cases.

Various stakeholders in the city have since joined hands in face lifting the antiquated infrastructure at the hospital.

The City’s Director of Health Services, Edwin Sibanda said the rehabilitation work at the hospital included the repainting of the hospital’s buildings, roof, upgrading dressing rooms for health workers as well as the drilling of a borehole.

The hospital’s mortuary is also being renovated. However, it is unclear when the work will be completed.-StateMedia

Mwonzora Comes Out Of Lockdown Goes For Chamisa’s Throat.

The Thokozani Khupe-led MDC-T team is gnawing into structures of the MDC party fighting to bring down vibrant Nelson Chamisa from holding the structures.

Douglas Mwonzora , reinstated to the position of secretary-general by the Supreme Court, is leading the assault on Chamisa, with sources saying his team had already opened new WhatsApp groups where they were adding mostly members from the 2014 MDC structures who lost their posts after the integration of alliance partners into the MDC.

All suspected structural issues please report to national organising secretary Amos Chibaya,” the memo sent out to party supporters read.

Deputy organising secretary Happymore Chidziva said they were not worried about the attempt to poach members and rope them into the MDC formation that is being run by Mwonzora.

“Well, those being added into groups have freedom of association rights and we are not going to force them to leave those groups. We just want people to know that those are not our groups and if they choose to remain there, it’s their right,” he said.

Mwonzora, who is leading preparations for the MDC-T extraordinary congress (EOC), confirmed using WhatsApp groups to mobilise the MDC 2014 structures, saying because of the lockdown, he had to resort to the use of technology which has had overwhelming response.

Mozambique Terrorism Sequel, Mnangagwa’s Footprints Visible…

Emmerson Mnangagwa

Terrorists in Mozambique Investigated.

  • Fake Pictures.
  • Fake Mission.
  • Strong Obsession On Zimbabwe, beginning to end
  • Fake President.
  • Mozambican opposition says it’s the government soldiers killing civilians,

By Simba Chikanza| ANALYSIS | There are some digital footprints from within as well as from outside Mozambique that suggest that the terrorists currently operating in that country were created by Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa likely so he can unleash military rule over the Beira corridor: it’s all about money and getting it by blood. He’s been doing this since 1983. He created Richard Gwesela (who was killed by a newspaper article, literally), and up to as late as 2018 when we we finally witnessed the Terrorist game played before our eyes on LIVE on video.

Of the pictures published of the terrorists lately and on their Twitter account, FranceAlRasa, one is unmasked as a 2015 photo, and the second (used by a South African publication, Daily Maverick, which claims they got it via Telegram from the group last year, has its first citing way back in June 2018 over in Europe, Turkey, nowhere near Africa.

the pictures analysed by their digital Origins.

The Twitter account FranceAlRasa, was created on the 29th April 2020, well in advance of Mnangagwa’s visit there (just a day before).

If this group is genuinely Mozambican not from Zimbabwe, then I am a Russian by birth!

The correlation of timing as well as the desperation to rebuild the economy using military metal all point to one thing – a brute politician’s methods repeated for over 37 years since the 4th of May 1983.

One possibility – mere malicious intent

One possibility suggests that the Twitter account was created by a mere malicious person who is seeking to agitate war against Emmerson Mnangagwa. This is a very strong likely, and many citizens are known for doing these things in the past as they vent their anger against the government. If this is the case however how did the individual (s) know that Mnangagwa would fly over to Mozambique at the end of the week? The person who did this could thus only be an insider, or at least a person with insider state-knowledge.

Furthermore if that is true, on Sunday, the nation witnessed ZANU PF’s most prolific pressure group, screaming on social networks that Zimbabwe National Army must be deployed to Mozambique with immediate effect, today.

It brings up the question of what SADC is all about when it appoint someone who has killed more blacks than apartheid South Africa to head its defence and security, but well, this is a very very long discussion for another day.

Luke Malaba Clears All Courts To Begin Working Except Marriages

Luke-Malaba

ALL courts shall become fully operational with effect from May 11 as the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is acquiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for its members, including judges and magistrates in compliance with the regulations announced by President Mnangagwa.

Last Friday, President Mnangagwa extended the lockdown by another two weeks but allowed some businesses to reopen under strict conditions.

Since the lockdown was first announced on March 30, courts have been attending to urgent matters, mainly remands, bail hearings and matters deemed urgent.

Solemnisation of marriages remain suspended until the end of the lockdown.

Those coming to court shall be subjected to temperature checks and sanitisation of hands at entrances and will be required to wear face masks, avoid person to person contact and maintain social distancing.

Businesses are required to ensure that all employees are tested for Covid-19.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba yesterday issued Practice Directions 3 of 2020, operational directions for the courts during the level two lockdown.

He said the Practice Directions replaces operational instructions announced in Practice Directions 1 and 2 of 2020 and applies to the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, the High Court, the Labour Court, the Administrative Court, and the Magistrates’ Courts in Zimbabwe.

“Following the proclamation on 1 May 2020 by His Excellency, the President that the country is moving into level two lockdown from 4 May 2020, these directions are issued to guide court operations during the level two lockdown period. For the purposes of implementing the measures introduced under level two lockdown, practice direction number 1 of 2020 as amended shall remain effective until the 10th of May 2020.

Accused persons automatically remanded to dates between 4 May 2020 and 8 May 2020 under practice direction 2 of 2020, will be remanded by the courts to dates after 11 May 2020,” he said.

The Chief Justice said warrants of arrest will be issued against any such person who doesn’t attend court for remand after May 11.

“All courts shall become operational with effect from May 11,” said CJ Malaba.

He said court functions and duties shall proceed in the manner set out in this practice direction.

“Registries shall be open for litigants, legal practitioners and the public on week days, between 0800hrs and 1500hrs. Filing of court documents, including process and pleadings, shall proceed in terms of the applicable rules, legislation or court order,” said CJ Malaba.

He said matters must be heard and determined expeditiously to avoid unnecessary attendances by litigants at courts.

The Sheriff, CJ Malaba said shall serve all other processes and orders, but shall not carry out evictions, executions or conduct sales in execution for the duration of the lockdown period.

He said solemnisation of marriages remain suspended for the duration of lockdown period.

“Litigants and other court users shall at all times:- be subjected to temperature checks and sanitisation of hands at entrances; wear face masks; avoid person to person contact; and maintain social distancing of at least one metre apart,” he said.

“Any person who does not comply with the requirements shall not be allowed to enter into the courthouse or courtroom or shall be asked to leave the courtroom or the courthouse.”

CJ Malaba said entry into court rooms shall be limited to litigants, their legal practitioners, witnesses and members of the press.

“Entry into courthouses shall not be permitted for members of the public who have no business at court. Litigants who are required to attend Court in a province or district other than where they are normally resident shall obtain the necessary letters of clearance at the nearest police station,” he said.

In an interview on Sunday, JSC secretary Mr Walter Chikwanha said courts were unable to open for all functions this week because of the unavailability of PPEs for judges, magistrates and staff.

“From Monday, managers and heads of departments are on duty putting in place systems for the courts to be fully operational come May 11. At the moment we have limited PPEs which we are giving out to managers and heads of departments who are there to prepare for May 11,” he said.

He said even furniture in court needed to be rearranged so that social distancing is maintained to mitigate against the spread of Covid 19.

Econet Goes Berserk In New Data Prices, Private WiFi Goes Up To $1300 From $400

A week after Econet so brazenly asked their own suppliers to reduce prices by 20%, they themselves have done the opposite.

In the latest price hike, their Private WiFi bundles have been hiked by as much as 225%! Call it desperation or greed but nobody saw that coming. Such a hike effectively means a hike in real USD terms.

Whereas in times past, the cheapest bundle, 25GB, has always hovered around the $10 USD mark the latest hike from $400 ZWL to $1 300 ZWL means the bundle now costs $31 USD at current black market rates. Now that is a massive hike of almost 200% even in real USD terms.

To do this during the lockdown period is either greed or pure madness that will no doubt lead to a reduction in demand.

In the meantime the 50GB bundle which was selling for $800 (approx $20 USD) yesterday is now being sold at a massive $2 000 ZWL ( approx $42 USD). Again this effectively means the prices have been doubled even in USD terms. Again to do this during a period when most people are not going to work or receiving any bailouts from the government unlike in other countries is mind-boggling.

Before all these changes, you could buy three private WiFi bundles, 25GB, 50GB or 75GB. As of today, you can no longer purchase the 75GB bundle which has mysteriously disappeared. Probably because even Econet was embarrassed about it’s new proposed by they just decided to do away with it.
