An sms message circulating world-wide via the WhatsApp network claiming that abducted activist Itai Dzamara has been found, is false and misleading.
The malicious message claimed that Dzamara was found at Harare Central Police Station on Monday and the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights have confirmed the development.
Investigations have however found the report to be a hoax.
Dzamara’s whereabouts have remained unknown since his abduction on the 9th March.
The false report reads in full:Jessie Dendere wrote on twitter,
“#ItaiDzamara has been found, let us not
forget less prominent citizens whose
whereabouts remain unknown and those who didnt make it alive.”
ZLHR Lawyers have confirmed that Dzamara, abducted Monday, is currently
detained at Harare Central Police Station.
