Tourism and Hospitality Minister Walter Mzembi the Chinese are the worst spenders when compared to other nationals who visit the country.
Mzembi made the remarks in Harare Wednesday while receiving the new Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe executive at his offices.
The Tourism Minister said when they Chinese visit Zimbabwe they do not spend in hotels as they do when they go to Britain.
“If they are travelling, 100 million of them leave China every year to visit other countries and our current market share of these people is like 15 000,” he said.
“I would like many them, but quality spenders, coming to our destination. They are spending 2 600 pounds per visit in the United Kingdom”.
He said journalists must interrogate how much the Chinese are spending in Zimbabwe   to prove his argument.
“But we cannot avoid them they are the growth sort of formula now for tourism economics worldwide, “he said.
“So what we claim in terms of our history and friendship with them, we are indicted and we are indicting our friendship”.
